Solve : problem in out look express?

Answer»

Hello, guys how are you doing?

i have a domain from my ISP Provider and using out look express for incoming and out going emails. but most of the time it shows error and the error message is

" The message could not be sent because one of the recipients was rejected by the server. The rejected e-mail address was 'jeje-forever [emailprotected]'. Subject 'Peelings advices From Derma clinic', Account: 'pop.awalnet.net.sa', Server: 'smtp.awalnet.net.sa', Protocol: SMTP, Server Response: '501 Syntax error - Badly FORMATTED address.', Port: 25, Secure(SSL): No, Server Error: 501, Error Number: 0x800CCC79 "
i think the problem is with the wrong type emails but i don't KNOW how to correct automatically from the out look express. is it possible to correct or remove the wrong emails from out look express because i am sending 1000 emails at the same time.
so, could you please guys HELP me how can i solve this problem?

thank you very muchThe server will reject any emails with spaces and some characters ( - ) in the address.

Hi, patio

so, due to one incorrect email it rejectes all the out poing emails? Hang on til one of the Outlook experts such as Soybean show up...i do not use it even if i have to,Quote from: asmarina on March 20, 2008, 02:18:37 AM

so, due to one incorrect email it rejectes all the out poing emails?
You are using Outlook Express (OE), not Outlook, right? I think the answer is, it depends on your ISP.

I just did a little test in OE; I created a message and tried to send to the address in your original post. OE did not let it go out. I get a message saying there's a syntax error; apparently, this is due to the space in the email address. That message stayed in my Outbox. I then composed another test message to send to myself. Upon issuing the Send command for it, OE tried to send it and the other message since it was still in the Outbox. I believe OE tried to send that message first, since it was sitting in the Outbox before the second test message was created. The second message went out but, again, the first one failed and the error message popped up again.

So, based on my test, the answer to your question seems to be no. But, since you have the problem and you and I have different ISPs, that seems to indicate this depends on the ISP.

I suggest you do some testing with a small number of messages. That way, it's easier to observe what's actually happening. And, contact your ISP. Hmm, my logic was flawed in my previous test. In that test, I simply was sending multiple messages at the same time, each message going to only one recipient. I did another test, putting four addresses, including your FAULTY one, in the To: box for the same message. Since the message was rejected due to the one bad email address, the message did not go out to any of the addressees.

So, yes, if you're trying to send one message to a large number of recipients at the same time, none will go out when you have an invalid address in your specified addresses.
Thank you very much guys

I appreciated

Yeah I'm sure there is a MOD for it but unfortunately I'll have to put a low priority on it because I don't think with the new change it will be too much of an issue.

Solve : pulse sound?

Answer»

Hey all first post here

Just a quick question on this sound I have just started to get on my computer.
I've never heard this sound before it comes about EVERY ten - fifteen minutes and lasts around five.
The sound itself is like a pulse with about two seconds of silence between the pulses. It started about an hour ago. I have not been using any other programs for about three hours now, this sound just started on its own.
Anyone know what it is?
Thanks guys
Darcey.Have you installed any new software RECENTLY ? ?
Have you checked in Control Panel/Sounds and Multimedia to see if you can find the sound and see what it's associated with ? ?Hey thanks for replying.

Yea I had installed LIMEWIRE earlier in the morning but stopped using it after trojans started being detected. I have done a complete check of my cpu for VIRUSES yet it still makes the sound. Not as regular as before though, I looked in the control panel and FOUND a sound similer to the one being made which is 'feed discovered' in internet explorer section. I'm not to sure what this is though.
Ok thanks againThat's the one...it means limewire has located a feed...
Good Luck with limewire...we'll probably see you in the Virus section before long....

Yea I don't think I'll be using limewire anymore.

Solve : New but very old Computer?

Answer»

HI EVERYONE
My husband just got a Ascentia personal notebook it is the Mseries
My question is , is it worth upgrading or can it even be done?
It does work, the battery seems good , the has a cd disk drive that is not working.
Anyone have any sugesstions?
Thanks
What exactly are you considering upgrading?
The Ascentia M SERIES is pretty old compare to CURRENT laptops. If you are asking if you should upgrade, I would think it is acceptable.
A new computer would be more RELIABLE, have a larger hard disk capacity, probably a longer battery life and it would have more computing power.

If you want any more information, please ask.ty for your reply.
What I am wondering is can we upgrade the memory in this computer, or is it even worth it? This is our very first laptop and we are not very computer smart. With the price of laptops would we be putting way to much into this old one by upgrading?
I am also thinking the reason the disk drive it not working is because of drivers.
Sorry for all the stupid questions but thank you When you say 'upgrade the memory', do you mean the Hard Drive Memory (where all your programs/work is stored or the RAM.

Also if you don't mind me asking, how old is this laptop?I am not sure how old it is. It has window 95 on it
When I said upgrade memory i really don't know which i am talking about. Probably the hard drive to upgrade to a newer version of windows
Ok, I think I FINALLY get an idea of what's happening.

Windows 95....That would lead me to guess the laptop is more than 13 years old...
If you were to upgrade Windows, I really suggest getting a new laptop instead. It would be more practical and easier than upgrading.
However, I would caution you on choosing which Operating System to get. Comparing Windows XP and Windows Vista to Windows 95, Windows XP will be a smoother transition than Vista because XP is more like 95 in layout and functions.
I am only saying this because you mentioned that you werent very computer smart
Windows XP will be hard to come by nowadays so you might have to get Vista anyways...

If you Right Click My Computer on the desktop, can you tell us the specifications of the laptop.I did a right click on My Computer and this is what I got.
Microsoft window 95
4.00.950B
AST Computers, Inc
Pentium(r)
96.OMB RAM
File system Some drivers are using MS-DOS compatibility
Virtual Memory - MS-DOS compatibility mode
Disk compression Not installed
PC cards (PCMCaA) 32-bit
Does any of this help?
Thank you for all your replys I would definitely not upgrade the OS to Win XP. The processor in that computer is too slow, and it's way below the memory needed to run Win XP with any satisfaction. You might get Win 98SE on ebay. If you can go up to 256MB of RAM, Win 2000 might be an option, but I think I'd limit any OS upgrade to Win 98SE.

Solve : Memory stick help?

Answer» HI everyone,

I am wondering if anyone can help me with this problem I have with my USB memory stick.

When I insert the memory stick into any COMPUTER or laptop, the computer APPEARS to recognise it (an icon appears in the "My Computer" folder).

However, when I click on the memory sticks icon it will not let me open the folder and therefore any of the files on the memory stick. It give the message: "Please insert a disk into drive ...".

Any ideas on what has happened and if/how I can go about fixing the problem and ultimately retreiving the files on the memory stick would be gratefully received.

Thanks for you help.

What operating system?Hi

Sorry for LATE reply.

I'm using Windows XP professional.

thanks for your replySome stiks have a small microswitch on them to lock them...see if this is the case.
If not with the stick PLUGGED in right click My Computer and select manage...then choose Disk Management.
How is the stick being reported there ? ?
You can right click the listing there and select Properties for more details...When asked for a disk might mean you need drivers which sometimes come on a disk. A guess. I have had that same experience.
Good luck!

Solve : Crazy Computer Problem?

Answer»

I have this friend that built a computer and has been running fine for a few years. And all of a sudden he

started to have these wierd symptoms like he would press the power button and it wouldn't boot up.

The computer would boot up and give a BLINKING curser in the upper left corner. Games would freeze

randomly. The sound in games would malfunction. His bios and windows would display the wrong time.

He would sometimes boot and it would say no boot device DETECTED. That is almost all the symptoms. And

the stupid part is that it will do these symptoms randomly sometimes, and then stop doing it totally. Then

a week later, start again. We tried a new video card. We tried taking out some of his ram. We tried

switching ram slots. And we unplugged the hard drive and tried a new operating system. It will still do

these symptoms sometimes and sometimes not. He is running an asus m2n sli deluxe motherboard with

a 3 ghz dual CORE and 4 1 gig sticks of ram. And aerocool 500 watt power supply and a geforce 9600. Can

anyone help me?You remember what your friend did last time before it happen ? Something must be damaged, could be the motherboard, did your friend have a power OUTAGE last time ? Thats what I was thinking too that something with the hardware must be damaged. The only two problems

that I know of that he has had that may have caused it is that he said he woke up one morning to find that

the computer was off because his heatsink somehow became detached from the processor. Then he put

it back on and it worked fine. This happened way before the symptoms. And the other problem is that

his power supply plug in the back where the ac plug goes got pulled out. But he soldered everything back

together and he is sure that it is right. I don't believe it's the power supply because it would cause the

symptoms to happen all the time. Usually a power supply failure doesn't cause these kinds of problems

anyway.Thank this is what I am facing. Solved!

Solve : Copying from one drive to another??

Yes you are correct. I am copying from a HARDDRIVE to and External Harddrive. So to answer your original question, copying will be faster if you leave the COMPUTER ALONE and don't do anything on it. Running a program/game may take up resources and computing power, slowing the copying down.yes, thanks for the info. What is it you are trying to do ? ?

(Good day)

When you transfer a hard drive over to another computer, you will not be able to run installed games (unless they are considered standalone, with no installer) from the old hard drive. You will need to find the DISCS for the games, and reinstall them on your new computer.

SORRY there isnt anything else you can do, when settings are in the registry on an old computer, they cannot really be moved back to the new computer without causing problems. When you open the programs on your old drive, they look for the registry entries and other system files which have all moved (being run as a slave drive). It all prevents it from working.

(In my opinion, the Windows Registry should not exist, but, what can I do..) Quote from: Zylstra on April 05, 2008, 04:28:52 PM

Solve : help with light tent lighting?

Answer»

I am going to sell on Ebay and would like a recommendation on lighting. I hear some people use flourescent lighting, spiral bulbs, halogen lights. Wouldn't halogen lights get so hot that they will melt the tent and possible set on fire? I want to use the coolest one for many reasons. I want something affordable and very cool.

Thanks in advance.Quote from: lisashomeoffice on April 04, 2008, 02:05:12 AM

Wouldn't halogen lights get so hot that they will melt the tent and possible set on fire?
Yeah, I think that could happen if you're not careful to keep a safe DISTANCE between halogen lights and the tent. So, I would say you could use halogen lights, you just need to be very careful with them. I really don't know which type of lighting would give you the best results for photos to put on ebay auctions. Maybe someone ELSE can comment on that.Gooden dag,
(good day)

If you have a camera that operates without flash, use it. Be sure that the camera is absolutely still (if you have a TRIPOD or some means of a platform for the camera, that would be great) or it will get blurry pictures without flash.
Why? The flash from a camera often leaves... glowing spots on some types of more reflective materials, and often, up close shots will loose some of their color originality.

I would recommend that you try a few different lights, if you can. Its quite dependent on the object you are using. A halogen LIGHT would be too much for a shiny object, and would cause excessive shadows (depending on how many lights there are)
Florescent works for a great deal of things, however, their light can be too "white" in some cases. (The Spiral bulbs are florescent bulbs)

Standard incandescent (standard bulbs, nothing special, just good ol' Edison) would probably give the best color on the object.

It is, nevertheless, very object independent.

About halogens specifically: They get VERY hot. Though, like Soybean said, they are fine when kept away from the fabric of the tent, they are still hard to move while they are running or haven't sat and COOLED first. If your looking to use Halogens, and need to be moving them around, be sure you get stands for them that keep them off the ground, and allow you to move them easily.

You might carry an object into a hardware store (Say, a book, or a tape measure) and hold it up to the lighting displays. Notice how the light reflects, and how it changes the color.

(I'd wait a little bit and see what others have to say, this type of subject varies greatly by opinions)

Personally, I'd just use whats available to me already. (Florescent and standard bulbs)
i would not use halogen, they can get extremely hot and, in my experience, they produce a more warm yellowish light. personally, i would use fluorescent. they run cooler and can produce either a cooler white light or a warmer yellowish light.

Yeah, and the general rule of thumb is, if you don't trust your kid, you move the computer to somewhere you can see.. Installing spying software is just mean, though.I don't know if it's mean to INSTALL spy software. What would you suggest for the person who won't obey the rules? Or what if you can't be there to directly monitor the computer's usage?Stricter Rules...along with freedom should come personal responsibility.

Solve : Downloading to Desk Top?

the prompt comes in with the SAVE AS box with the file name in it
This is where you can choose where to save it.Hi Broni, yes I know but it is also where I usually screw up. Because isn't this where you direct the download to a file or folder? And they give the name of the attachments I type in the name of the file (Zelda Ems) but they don't go there. Only the first one I load goes there the rest don't. So that's what I need help doing. Placing them all in the same file.

From Save As window, you can select where the file is to be saved. Look again at my screenshot from my previous post.

[recovering space - attachment deleted by admin]Okay, so when the file is ready to be saved, and SAVE AS comes up I delete what is in the bar if anything(usually the name of the item) I then type in the file I made for Zelda Ems, and click Save on the right of the bar. Do this for all the items... I'll try again Broni. I'll let you know after I have tried.

Wish me luck.
Thanks...

It may be a few days I am trying to complete so many things on this computer. Make at least some of your prior suggested changes. I wish you all possible luck Quote from: casse2go on March 30, 2008, 12:16:26 PM

What I get from your comments is that you're overwriting an existing file each time you save an attachment again; in other words, by using the same file name (Zelda Ems) everytime you save an attachment, you're overwriting, i.e. erasing, the last file saved with that name.

If you mean folder instead of file, please clarify that.Quote

Yes, if it goes to the same folder. No, if you save it in different folder.Right, I know that, but I think she needs to clarify this point. Her comments have not been clear on this point.Oooops, I didn't notice, it was your post, soybean....LOOOOOOOOLOkay, I must say this again, I am not computer savvy in the least. Well maybe the least but that's it. If I confuse files with folders please chalk it up to my illiteracy of computers. What I want to do is download the attachments in my mail room to where I can access them from Documents. And I would like them all in the same file or folder whichever is correct. I tried to explain to the best of my ability just how they are in my mail. And that I want to use only the GBA, so that I can control the speed.

And yes, I guess I am overriding the file command as I do delete the name in the Save As or save window.

When I try to do this I will do it step by step with you guys if I may. It can't be today. I appreciate the help. Thank you all.Quote from: casse2go on March 30, 2008, 02:00:26 PM

Well, you seemed to know the difference in your original post, where you said, "So what I'm asking for is someone to please step me through the process of loading them all into one folder."

Are you using Windows XP or Windows Vista? Would be helpful to say which, since they use some different terminology for standard folders (My Computer vs. Computer, My Documents vs. Documents, etc.).

What is GBA, and what does it have to do with your download speed? What is GBC, that you also mentioned in previous post? Here's a quote from an earlier post by you:
Quote
The GBA em has a throttle so I could control the speed. Now i have only one game for the GBA and It is in the same attachment as the GBA. so when I download the GBA the game extracts also. The GBC has a game with it also. However, I alsi have TWO separate downloads for the GBC. None of the GBC games can be played because the speed is over 1000, when it should be near 100. And, GBC doesn't have a throttle, and at "0" frame skip it still runs near 1000. So, I deleted the GBC em and the GBC games. I still have the GBA em in my documents as a Zip file. So, the guys in Emulator Zone.com told me that GBA will convert and play the GBC games. But, I don't know how to place them so that they will be in the same folder when they download. So that's why I want to make a new folder and place all my Em and games in it. And if possible, place it in my Documents.
It seems to me this all requires more explanation. GBA ... GBC ... emulators ... throttle ..., etc. What does all that have to do with your basic question of downloading files from your AOL mail? Quote from: soybean on March 30, 2008, 02:42:47 PM

Really, to me files and folders are the same but apparently in computer speak they are different. I know the term folders because I was told to make a folder once for a download.

I'm using Windows Vista and AOL is my ISP. I'm using the AOL Browser I guess.

GBA is the GameBoy Advanced
GBC is the GameBoy Color
Emulators are online facsimilies of the GameBoys. they are used along with Roms or whatever downloads to play video games ,online in my case.
Speed...Emulators allow the roms(games) to be played at different speeds. And there are different Emulators. I use the VisualBoy Em which does not have a throttle, so I can't adjust the speed of my ems, which for some reason is 10 to 40 times faster than it should be. I used to play them in safe mode so maybe I damaged them. Anyway, the Ems have "Frame Skip" which also adjusts the speed, but even at zero (the slowest speed); they still run at 1000, when it should be 100. The GBC maxes out at frame skip 5 so you can guess the speed.
Throttle...The GBA Emulator has a throttle which allows you to throttle up or down the speed of the frame skips. So at zero I can throttle it to 100 and play the games for GBA.
SInce I have no idea why they are running so fast on this new computer. and I still need (Need, because I host a few games in a video game site, and I use them for reference.) the games. I was told that the GBA will also play the GBC games. That's why I want to put them all in the same place, file or folder. Oh yeah, and the attachments containing the ems and games are in my AOL mail.

Hi All, I decided to help us help me by asking AOL how to download their mail attachments. Find below the email sent in response. I have a few questions about it.

Incident Number: 3756538

Dear...

Hello! My name is Jon. It is my pleasure to assist you with issues or concerns regarding the AOL service.

I understand that you would like to know how to create a windows folder and then download and save the file attachments you received via e-mail on the newly created folder.

Thank you for bringing this matter to our attention. I recommend you save or print a copy of this e-mail for future reference.

To create a windows folder, please follow the steps below:

1. Open the location where you would like to create the folder.

casse2go Q: What does this mean? If I want the file in my Documents, how do I put it there. Is to open it simple to click on Documents from Start?

2. Once there, click the FILE menu, click NEW then click FOLDER to create a new folder.

Note: You can also right-click your mouse on location, click NEW then click FOLDER.

To download a file attachment from an e-mail, please follow the steps below:

Note: The AOL Mailbox shows that an e-mail has a file attachment by displaying a square box image under the ENVELOP icon shown in the TYPE column. You need to download and save the attachment before you can use it. We recommend you never download a file unless you know the person who sent it.

1. On the AOL toolbar, click the READ icon.
2. Double-click the e-mail with the file attachment.
3. On the bottom left of the e-mail, click the DOWNLOAD button to open the drop-down menu, then click DOWNLOAD NOW.

Note: If you receive the message asking "Do you wish to download this file?" click the YES button.

4. In the Download Manager window, locate the folder you have created, then click the SAVE button. Once the file is finished downloading, the Download Confirmation window may appear.

Casse2go Q: Is the DOWNLOAD MANAGER WINDOW that window that will have OPEN FIND FILE DOWNLOAD AGAIN ETC?

5. Many types of files, including pictures, sounds, and videos will be automatically opened by the AOL software. If the file is not able to be opened by the AOL software, you must choose from one of the following options:

Casse2go Q: Is this where I might get the msg, "AOL cannot open this file? But they always do".

- Click the OPEN FILE button to open the file.
- Click the FIND FILE button to open the folder containing the file.
- Click the CLOSE button to close the Confirmation window.

Notes:

- If you have already downloaded the file, you can also click the DOWNLOAD AGAIN button.

Casse2go Q: I downloaded and then deleted all the GBC stuff. Can I find that and place it in the folder rather than downloading the files again? If so how? I can never find files...my little doggie just looks so sad waiting for me to command him.

- If the AOL software is unable to open the file, you must have software that is compatible with the downloaded file(s) in order to view or use it. For example, if you receive a WordPerfect file, you must have either WordPerfect or a word processing program capable of opening WordPerfect files. Also make sure the file is compatible with your computer; a Macintosh computer may not be able to read some Windows files, and vice versa.

I hope my response proves helpful. Please let us know if you have any additional questions or concerns.

Casse2go Says... For anyone responding to my questions, please give your name so that I can keep track of who said what. Thank you all.
I think some frank comments are needed here. On March 30, you said this:
Quote

That indicates a LACK of understanding of very basic concepts relating to working with files on a computer. It indicates you really need some training in those basic concepts.

And, let's look at this again:
Quote from: soybean on March 30, 2008, 12:48:03 PM

What I get from your comments is that you're overwriting an existing file each time you save an attachment again; in other words, by using the same file name (Zelda Ems) everytime you save an attachment, you're overwriting, i.e. erasing, the last file saved with that name.

If you mean folder instead of file, please clarify that.
If you do understand that using the same file name, for new attachments received, that you used for a previously saved attachment overwrites the previous attachment/file with the current one, then, again, this indicates a lack of basic knowledge about working with files.

Your lack of knowledge makes giving help to you in forums very difficult. If I, or other forum members, could sit next to you while you're using your computer and see exactly what you're doing, it would be so much easier to get a clear picture of what's happening. But, we don't have that option.

If possible, visit a library and withdraw a book and/or video on introductory Microsoft Windows concepts. Also, find out if there's a computer users' group in your area. They may have classes for users of various levels of experience. Or, find someone who can work with at your computer to help you resolve this.

Solve : New To Media Centre?

Answer»

Hey I'm Nita, I'm a newbie & hopeless with computers...well not that hopeless. I do occassionally get angry at the computer lol.

Here's my problem...

I have a HP Pavilion Entertainment PC, which has Media Centre.

As part of the package I RECEIVED a HP ExpressCard DVB-T TV Tuner, antenna adapter, tv tuner antenna, remote SENSOR and a HP Media Centre Remote Control.

The problem is...I don't know how to use it.

I really REALLY want to know how to use it. (I'm very eager to learn new things)

And whether I would need other hardware?

Here are some other information that could help you solve my problem.

I LIVE in Australia. I have normal tv (not cable or satellite). My tv is old, about 7yrs old I think. I have internet access (ASDL Broadband).

I would really appreciate any help given.

With the hardware you have in the computer I'd imagine you'd be ABLE to simply connect your coax cable to the back of the computer and open Windows Media Center and be able to watch TV. It's access by clicking Start / Programs / Media Center.

If you ENCOUNTER issues while trying to set this up may also want to refer to HP's FAQ section on this.

Solve : poor sound quality?

Answer»

Playing a CD or music file was OK until I DECIDED to use the microphone to record SOMETHING of my own. Now, when I play a CD the music is muted and if it's a vocal, the singing is hardly audible above the background music. I can't understand how plugging in a microphone can have such an effect on the quality of the sound. I have Windows XP, and Windows Media Player. I have adjusted all the volume controls, EQUALIZERS, etc and NOTHING works.

Any ideas?

Solve : Google Video Problem?

Answer»

I am trying to watch some sermons on Google Video and have a problem. The video buffers to about 3 minutes then stops buffering. The video is about 50 minutes long. I can't get it to load all the WAY. I have tried watching it on my laptop also and it does the same thing. I have also tried using different internet browsers, but I still get the same problem. When I watch videos on YouTube or Godtube I have no problems at all, but I do have problems watching videos on Google. Does anyone know what the problem is?

This may have something to do with your internet connection; the amount of RAM installed; the amount of free space on the drive etc....
Post more details on your system and the other variables above and someone will be along shortly.Alright well I tried Google video on both my Windows XP and Vista. I have DSL for both (100.0 Mbps). I have 640 MB of Ram.Anyone know what could be the problem?Strange that this WOULD be happening with different OSs. Could you give us a link to the Google Video you're trying to watch maybe it's something with the video. Also who is your ISP?http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-9198548346048126674&q=peter+ruckman&total=43&start=0&num=10&so=0&type=search&plindex=7

There is one of the videos that won't load all the way for me.

Here is my ISP. I use their lowest DSL right now. I'm thinking it has something to do with the ISP, but it is weird that this happens only with Google videos and not Youtube, Limewire and I can download movies of the internet WITHOUT any problem at all.

http://portal.highland.net/Well I've been running the video in the background on this computer while doing other things and it seems to be going fine so obviously not a video issue, which is what I expected. But thought it would be worth a try.

I did some additional searching and you're not the only one encountering this issue. I happened to find Googles response to this issue as well, unfortunately based off what you've tried I don't think it will help. Likely an issue with your ISP.

Quote

If the video's buffering is interrupted in any way, an incomplete copy can get stuck in your cache and never fully buffer. You can attempt to restart the buffering by clearing your browser's cache. If the issue continues to happen, you might want to check the stability of your internet connection.

From:
http://www.google.com/support/youtube/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=74662

I appreciate you taking time out of your day and trying to help me. I guess I'll need to get a FASTER connection?Possibly. It could also be an inconsistency between you and your ISP. So if broadband isn't available but another dial-up connection is you may also want to try that.

Solve : LG Viewty....KU990 LCD?

Answer»

Hey guys, not sure if any of you have a LG KU990 but here goes....

Basically the screen on my KU990 is completely shagged. The LCD appears to be cracked, but yet the FILM on the top is completely intact. There is now no longer anyway to see what is being displayed on the screen, but when it first happend it was just half the screen that FAILED to display and the TOUCHSCREEN feature worked with no problems.
I think the problem occured because the phone was in my backpocket of my Jeans when we were at a party and then some lass came and sat on my knee, which I think has applied alot of pressure to the screen and it has subsequently internally smashed.
I guess my question is what can I do?! Ive tried eBay'ing for new screens but they are all protecters and not the LCD itself, will LG take it back?!
Thanks guys

Chris

Nah she really thin actually, which made it even more confusing :S
I didn't take the extended warranty no, but I have only had it about 2 months so it should still be covered, shouldn't it?!
I have called them and they told me I needed to go to the Carphone Warehouse (where I took out the contract). But if I say that it was my fault they WONT take it under warranty will they, as it was 'User Damage'...
Any more ideas mate?!

Solve : finding lost documents?

Answer»

Hello, I am trying to recover lost pictures on my hard drive. I had overwritten the previous xp edition. Any ideas?hmm...you can do the all around search,
go to c:\ and hold down CTRL + F
press all files and folders
type in what ever you want to find(.jpg .png etc)
and just waitQuote

I had overwritten the previous xp edition
What EXACTLY did you do?Yes, what EXACTLY did you do? And if you want to be ABLE to recover the pictures, don't do anything with that computer. Leave it turned off, use another computer to reply and to surf the web.
The longer the computer is running, the lower your chances of RECOVERY because the files COULD be overwritten.
This is ASSUMING you formatted and/or repartitioned the hard drive.....

Solve : Are E-greeting web sites safe??

Answer»

I would like to send electronic greetings (E-greetings) to friends and family but have heard that such web SITES for the most part are virus-laden. Can someone RECOMMEND a good e-greeting card web site that you have used and been SATISFIED with? I realize that when one is on the Internet there is no such thing as virus-proof but I have friends who use certain e-greeting sites, such as Doozycards and AMERICAN Greetings.com, who swear by them. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thank you.

jandal Install McAfee Site Advisor plug-in: http://www.siteadvisor.com/
It's not 100% fool-proof, but it'll give you some safety. This myth likely got spread because some virus writers have found this is a good method to spread maleware. However, any popular site is not going to have this type of issue. I'd recommend a service such as http://www.egreetings.com/

Solve : hotmail?

Answer»

i use hotmail as my e-mail when i forward an e-mail the content dissappears how come my friend in WEYMOUTH has the same problem any thought's I've done this and never encountered this issue so I'm assuming it's got to do something with the e-mails that are being forward or some type of SPAM protection that's causing the issue.

Try e-mailing your hotmail account with "This is a test" and only one e-mail address in the sender and to and SEE if the same issue occurs. If not I'd assume it has something to do with either hotmail or your other e-mail client THINKING it's spam.

Solve : Computer Audio connected to an amplifier?

Answer»

Hello, I was wondering if i were to connect the output of my computer's audio to an audio amplifier "assuming the amp would amplify the signal by around 30dB", and then that amplifier to a speaker or back to my computer. Would i be in any danger of destroying the amplifier or would the computer/ speaker be in danger if i turned up the volume too high on the computer?

Thank you for your help!

I have my sound card's headphone output connected to the left & right AUX inputs of my Sansui AU-505 audio amplifier. It works fine. Don't USE the magnetic pickup (VINYL disk turntable) inputs. I set the PC (Windows) volume control about midway. Then I adjust the volume on the amplifier just like I was LISTENING to any other audio source like a CD player, DVD player, cassette deck, FM tuner, etc. You would not be in any danger of destroying the computer or amplifier or SPEAKERS. I do not SEE why you would want to connect back to the computer though. Perhaps you can explain more about what you are trying to do.

Reading between the lines, are you trying to use an electric guitar or a microphone?

When I am on the internet and in my email, my laptop automatically refreshes itself every 15 to 30 SECONDS which wipes out anything I'm typing. Why would this start all of the sudden? What is the interval set at to check for new mail ? ?
This should be under Tools/Options or Account settings but we can't tell since we do not know what program you are using for email... I have windows xp and I go through hotmail for email but it happens when I'm trying to READ PAGES on the internet as well. It just started about 2 weeks AGO. I just don't know anything about these thingsInteresting issue. I'm ASSUMING it has something to do with a plug in or toolbar you have in your browser. Is it an audio CD you're TRYING to copy? One thing I have noticed about Media Player and burning cds or playing them, SOMETIMES it won't do it because of licenses on the music. I download from Limewire, and it will not play some song. I switched to Winamp, which doesn't care, and will play and burn all you want. Google Winamp, and get the Free one.

Solve : Forcing an uninstall?

Answer»

This is embarrassing...

When I posted a topic about Visual Basic 2008 Express Edition giving me an error when STARTING up, I was told to uninstall and reinstall the program. I did not do this because I have a slow connection speed and limited data allowance. Instead of solving the error, I ignored it, searched for an alternative, and found SharpDevelop. SharpDevelop was great, but didn't have as many features as Visual Studio 2008 did. So now I'm stuck with SharpDevelop.

But is it OK if I just delete Visual Basic files, run CCleaner's registry cleaner and then install Visual C#? The reason I'm installing Visual C# is because I'm more used to programming in C# now.

My OS is Windows XP Home Edition Service Pack 2.

Thanks in advance.

Edit: I was going to use the web installer, but still can't because I don't know the download size of Visual C#. Cannot download the ISO because CD-ROM drive is stuffed.

Edit 2: There's a MISSING DLL called MSVCR90.DLL. Also, this is the BETA 2 version of Visual Basic 2008. I don't know what to do. Help!Alright, here's some more info.

Dependency walker says:

Error: The Side-by-Side configuration information for "c:\program files\microsoft visual studio 9.0\common7\ide\VBEXPRESS.EXE" contains errors. This application has failed to start because the application configuration is incorrect. Reinstalling the application may fix this problem (14001).
Warning: At least one delay-load dependency module was not found.
Warning: At least one module has an unresolved import due to a missing export function in a delay-load dependent module.

I checked the application configuration and the assembly and some of the things that should have being in the assembly were not there.

Checked the Event log, 9 errors with the source "SideBySide". Here are the errors SORTED first to oldest:
----
Generate Activation Context failed for C:\program files\microsoft visual studio 9.0\common7\ide\vbexpress.exe. Reference error message: The operation completed successfully.

Now that I think about it, the connection speed and limited data allowance are not a problem, since I did manage to download Visual Basic 2008 Beta 2.

I can't run the Windows Installer Cleanup Utility. (Again, caused by the broken CD-ROM drive)

I'll report what I find in the future.

What do you need your disc drive for?

I thought I read somewhere that you would have to reinstall all your programs. Then again, I have terrible memory, so maybe it didn't say that I need to reinstall the programs at all.The Installer Cleanup Utility only cleans the installers you choose to clean. So you shouldn't need to reinstall anything. Thanks for the reply.

After checking the download size of the ISO, I don't think the ISO is a good choice. I'll use the web installer instead.

When I go to the uninstaller for Visual Basic 2008 Express Beta 2, it says "Installing", and then it goes to an error page. Then I get an error message saying that the installer has encountered a problem and needs to close.

Will the Installer Cleanup Utility help me fix this? Or do I need to manually uninstall it?

Thank you for your time.Try reinstalling VS 2008 and then uninstall it.I can't, because if I download the latest version (which is the only one I can find) it asks me to remove the pre-release first, but I can't uninstall it using Add/Remove Programs OR manually uninstall it. Add/Remove Programs just says that it cannot be Installed. I didn't choose to Install it I chose to uninstall.. I don't have the VS 2008 CD.

Simply put: I cannot reinstall and uninstall.Good time to put Revo Uninstaller to the test...I tried Revo Uninstaller, but it kept asking for the Visual Studio 2008 CD. I don't have the CD.Maybe you could try deleting the Visual Basic folder and then deleting the Add/Remove programs entry using CCleaner?Quote from: Soviet Genius on March 10, 2008, 12:10:19 PM
Maybe you could try deleting the Visual Basic folder and then deleting the Add/Remove programs entry using CCleaner?

OK, but what about registry keys? Will CCleaner remove those too?I'm not sure, but I'm guessing it will if you run the registry cleanup in it after you delete the program. Or maybe you could remove the entries using regedit?I found out that it's because some assembly files are missing.

Solve : Are they really doing that with emulators??

Answer»

Okay, I know I am naive about the wonderful world of computers. I MEAN I am totally intimidated by what they can do. And my only envy in life has to be PEOPLE who know the ins and outs of computers. Yesterday I was looking for FAQs on vid game emulators and got a Yahoo! search page filled with emulators for OS or computers. Is that right? Are they making ems that can change a computer from say a P3 to a P4? My mouth is still hanging open at the thought. No "they're" not.
Hardware emulation is generally very resource heavy. So it is only possible to emulate something that is a lot slower (hardware wise) than the system the emulator is going to RUN on.

No personal computer TODAY have the processing power needed to do REALTIME hardware emulation of a P4 processor.

Besides there would be little point in creating a p4 emulator. Any x86 compatible processor can run the same software as a P4. (If processors can run Windows it is x86 compatible.)

Just curious....

Because you are burning it as an audio CD.

Chances are, your burning software is converting the .mp3 files as part of the burning process.
Have a look at your burned disc, in a computer. What is on it? Not .mp3 files... RIGHT?
And, (hopefully) , this CD will play in regular 'music' CD players, like in a car.

On the other hand, if you burn that CD as a data CD, then your burning software will treat those .mp3 files just like any other data files, and simply copy them to the CD. Then it will hold probably over 150 .mp3 song files.

But! - if you want to play them from that CD, you'll need a CD player that says it plays .mp3 files, or a computer, to play them.

try burning it in an mp3 format and compare the RESULTS..

Solve : Dell Latitude C640?

Answer»

Hello, I have a dell latitude C640, and it just started happening today, when I turn it on, it makes the loading noises, as usual, but it almost sounds like the head on the HD is scratching the platter... It is a louder ticking NOISE, i am not sure how to describe it, ive never HEARD it before, and am not sure if it is damaging the HD... any SUGGESTIONS?

What you have described sounds very like the infamous head-crash where the read/write head(s) contact the platter causing physical DAMAGE. However, if the system is BOOTING and performing correctly it's doubtful if the problem is with the hdd. Perhaps the fan altho' it shouldn't be starting until the system temperatures reach the set fan-start.

Whatever, make sure your backup is up-to-date.

Solve : I just "built" a computer and it's not working.?

Answer»

Hello,

Well, after having bought components during the past year, I finally have enough to have a functioning computer. I have so far installed all of them, connected a monitor, keyboard and mouse, and turned it on. There is nothing on my screen. I have put cds for the motherboard, video card and Ubuntu into the disk drive and still, nothing appears on the screen. I have no idea as to which of those three I should have tried first. "Everything" is running, but there just isn't anything on my screen. The video card, an 8800 GTS, has two "DVI" ports, I believe, so I had to use an adaptor in order use my monitor. I've tried using each of the ports, in turn, and still, nothing happens. I do not have a floppy drive, nor a sound card, and the mother board is an Asus P5N-E SLI.

Any ideas about what I should do now? Thanks for your time.

SheltonNothing? No diagnostic messages while it boots?Did you check the front panel connectors with the MB manual to make sure there correct?I get no messages whatsoever during the start-up...I haven't installed any software. As I mentioned, I have inserted disks, but nothing happens. Everything appears to be plugged in fine...the video card's fan is running, along with the two cooling fans; the hard disk is spinning, and the cd/dvd drive spins disks. i'd SAY go see a tech, because even little mistakes can prevent a computer form functioning, well for me xD!

just ask the Tech to double check everything and to TELL YOU if there are any problems before FIXING it, cuz then they charging money

Then if the Tech fines the problem try fixing it, if you can't let the specialists here help U!

Well thats all i can sayQuote

The video card, an 8800 GTS, has two "DVI" ports, I believe, so I had to use an adaptor in order use my monitor.

The first suspect...
If the MBoard has onboard video remove the card and hook it up to that and see what happens...
You also did not mention if you are getting any beeps during POST. These will normally give a clue as to what's amiss...Thanks for the advice. Maybe this information will help:

The components:
CASE -- Antec Sonata III
RAM -- Patriot PDC22G6400LLK DDR2 (Two, maybe four, GB)
Processor -- Intel CD2 E8400
Motherboard -- Asus P5N-E SLI
Hard drive -- Western Digital SATA, 500 GB
Power supply -- Antec EA-500
Graphics card -- EVGA e-GeForce 8800 GTS
DVD burner -- Samsung SH-203B
Cooler -- Thermalright Ultra-120 eXtreme, with Noctua fan.

I disconnected everything with the exception of the processor and powered up. There was no beep, but I understand that MANY systems don't ever beep. It doesn't seem that the motherboard has onboard video capabilities. I'd try another vid card and leave the RAM out to see if it does beep...it should.
Power down and put the RAM back in if the beeps work.
Then make sure the thermal compound was applied properly...
InstructionsI took the video card out of my "good" computer in order to try it in the new one; the connector is different, so I couldn't use it. I have disassembled and reassembled this thing too many times to count. Since the other options that I have involve new and/or different components, it seems that I'll now have to take it to a professional. Some of these components are nearly a year old now, so I'm well past the return period. Thanks for the suggestions, but I am at a true roadblock. Once I am able to take it in to the pros, I'll post the resolution here.

Sheltonbest of luckAre you saying you got no beeps while powering up with no RAM installed ? ?If you have a way, go online and down load the manual to this motherboard. It will tell you alot, and you may be overlooking something simple.Update:

The processor was bad. Hopefully I'll have replaced it by next week.

my computer power supply is on...the CPU fan is on but the computer cannot start up...the bios ALSO not coming out...the monitor button is YELLOW..i need help with this..URGENTLY..thanks guysClik Here...I had similar PROBLEM a few days ago, one of the screws in my MB had come out and only half the board was powering up. Look at all your connections, and make sure some wire hasn't fell into the orbit of a motor to a fan. Get a flashlight and look everything over real good.

Good Luck.Let's wait and see if he posts the info requested...Try checking your cables maybe some are unplug..
