Solve : problem in out look express? |
Answer» Hello, guys how are you doing? so, due to one incorrect email it rejectes all the out poing emails? You are using Outlook Express (OE), not Outlook, right? I think the answer is, it depends on your ISP. I just did a little test in OE; I created a message and tried to send to the address in your original post. OE did not let it go out. I get a message saying there's a syntax error; apparently, this is due to the space in the email address. That message stayed in my Outbox. I then composed another test message to send to myself. Upon issuing the Send command for it, OE tried to send it and the other message since it was still in the Outbox. I believe OE tried to send that message first, since it was sitting in the Outbox before the second test message was created. The second message went out but, again, the first one failed and the error message popped up again. So, based on my test, the answer to your question seems to be no. But, since you have the problem and you and I have different ISPs, that seems to indicate this depends on the ISP. I suggest you do some testing with a small number of messages. That way, it's easier to observe what's actually happening. And, contact your ISP. Hmm, my logic was flawed in my previous test. In that test, I simply was sending multiple messages at the same time, each message going to only one recipient. I did another test, putting four addresses, including your FAULTY one, in the To: box for the same message. Since the message was rejected due to the one bad email address, the message did not go out to any of the addressees. So, yes, if you're trying to send one message to a large number of recipients at the same time, none will go out when you have an invalid address in your specified addresses. Thank you very much guys I appreciated |

Solve : Memory stick help? |
Answer» HI everyone, I am wondering if anyone can help me with this problem I have with my USB memory stick. When I insert the memory stick into any COMPUTER or laptop, the computer APPEARS to recognise it (an icon appears in the "My Computer" folder). However, when I click on the memory sticks icon it will not let me open the folder and therefore any of the files on the memory stick. It give the message: "Please insert a disk into drive ...". Any ideas on what has happened and if/how I can go about fixing the problem and ultimately retreiving the files on the memory stick would be gratefully received. Thanks for you help. Purpleclaire! What operating system?Hi Sorry for LATE reply. I'm using Windows XP professional. thanks for your replySome stiks have a small microswitch on them to lock them...see if this is the case. If not with the stick PLUGGED in right click My Computer and select manage...then choose Disk Management. How is the stick being reported there ? ? You can right click the listing there and select Properties for more details...When asked for a disk might mean you need drivers which sometimes come on a disk. A guess. Solve : help with light tent lighting? |
Answer» I am going to sell on Ebay and would like a recommendation on lighting. I hear some people use flourescent lighting, spiral bulbs, halogen lights. Wouldn't halogen lights get so hot that they will melt the tent and possible set on fire? I want to use the coolest one for many reasons. I want something affordable and very cool. Wouldn't halogen lights get so hot that they will melt the tent and possible set on fire?Yeah, I think that could happen if you're not careful to keep a safe DISTANCE between halogen lights and the tent. So, I would say you could use halogen lights, you just need to be very careful with them. I really don't know which type of lighting would give you the best results for photos to put on ebay auctions. Maybe someone ELSE can comment on that.Gooden dag, (good day) If you have a camera that operates without flash, use it. Be sure that the camera is absolutely still (if you have a TRIPOD or some means of a platform for the camera, that would be great) or it will get blurry pictures without flash. Why? The flash from a camera often leaves... glowing spots on some types of more reflective materials, and often, up close shots will loose some of their color originality. I would recommend that you try a few different lights, if you can. Its quite dependent on the object you are using. A halogen LIGHT would be too much for a shiny object, and would cause excessive shadows (depending on how many lights there are) Florescent works for a great deal of things, however, their light can be too "white" in some cases. (The Spiral bulbs are florescent bulbs) Standard incandescent (standard bulbs, nothing special, just good ol' Edison) would probably give the best color on the object. It is, nevertheless, very object independent. About halogens specifically: They get VERY hot. Though, like Soybean said, they are fine when kept away from the fabric of the tent, they are still hard to move while they are running or haven't sat and COOLED first. If your looking to use Halogens, and need to be moving them around, be sure you get stands for them that keep them off the ground, and allow you to move them easily. You might carry an object into a hardware store (Say, a book, or a tape measure) and hold it up to the lighting displays. Notice how the light reflects, and how it changes the color. (I'd wait a little bit and see what others have to say, this type of subject varies greatly by opinions) Personally, I'd just use whats available to me already. (Florescent and standard bulbs) i would not use halogen, they can get extremely hot and, in my experience, they produce a more warm yellowish light. personally, i would use fluorescent. they run cooler and can produce either a cooler white light or a warmer yellowish light. Quote Gooden dag, do you mean Güten Tag?Quote from: homer on April 05, 2008, 02:21:35 AM QuoteThat would be German. Gooden Dag is Dutch.Gooden dag, Though, I did spell Goede wrong.. It should be: Goede dag (Going to have to work on Goede.. that is just such a weird word) huh, i didnt know german and dutch were so closely related. |

Solve : Veiwing my sons computer? |

Answer» Is there a way of watching everything that my son is doing on his computer from mine?http://www.spytech-web.com/home-computer-monitoring.shtml Yes, John -- I agree -- that's the simplest advice, and probably a basic rule for the scenario. Solve : Downloading to Desk Top? |
Answer» Quote the prompt comes in with the SAVE AS box with the file name in itThis is where you can choose where to save it.Hi Broni, yes I know but it is also where I usually screw up. Because isn't this where you direct the download to a file or folder? And they give the name of the attachments I type in the name of the file (Zelda Ems) but they don't go there. Only the first one I load goes there the rest don't. So that's what I need help doing. Placing them all in the same file. From Save As window, you can select where the file is to be saved. Look again at my screenshot from my previous post. [recovering space - attachment deleted by admin]Okay, so when the file is ready to be saved, and SAVE AS comes up I delete what is in the bar if anything(usually the name of the item) I then type in the file I made for Zelda Ems, and click Save on the right of the bar. Do this for all the items... I'll try again Broni. I'll let you know after I have tried. Wish me luck. Thanks... It may be a few days I am trying to complete so many things on this computer. Make at least some of your prior suggested changes. I wish you all possible luck Quote from: casse2go on March 30, 2008, 12:16:26 PM Okay, so when the file is ready to be saved, and SAVE AS comes up I delete what is in the bar if anything(usually the name of the item) I then type in the file I made for Zelda Ems, and click Save on the right of the bar. Do this for all the items...What I get from your comments is that you're overwriting an existing file each time you save an attachment again; in other words, by using the same file name (Zelda Ems) everytime you save an attachment, you're overwriting, i.e. erasing, the last file saved with that name. If you mean folder instead of file, please clarify that.Quote by using the same file name (Zelda Ems) everytime you save an attachment, you're overwriting, i.e. erasing, the last file saved with that nameYes, if it goes to the same folder. No, if you save it in different folder.Right, I know that, but I think she needs to clarify this point. Her comments have not been clear on this point.Oooops, I didn't notice, it was your post, soybean....LOOOOOOOOLOkay, I must say this again, I am not computer savvy in the least. Well maybe the least but that's it. If I confuse files with folders please chalk it up to my illiteracy of computers. What I want to do is download the attachments in my mail room to where I can access them from Documents. And I would like them all in the same file or folder whichever is correct. I tried to explain to the best of my ability just how they are in my mail. And that I want to use only the GBA, so that I can control the speed. And yes, I guess I am overriding the file command as I do delete the name in the Save As or save window. When I try to do this I will do it step by step with you guys if I may. It can't be today. I appreciate the help. Thank you all.Quote from: casse2go on March 30, 2008, 02:00:26 PM If I confuse files with folders please chalk it up to my illiteracy of computers.Well, you seemed to know the difference in your original post, where you said, "So what I'm asking for is someone to please step me through the process of loading them all into one folder." Are you using Windows XP or Windows Vista? Would be helpful to say which, since they use some different terminology for standard folders (My Computer vs. Computer, My Documents vs. Documents, etc.). Quote And that I want to use only the GBA, so that I can control the speed. What is GBA, and what does it have to do with your download speed? What is GBC, that you also mentioned in previous post? Here's a quote from an earlier post by you: Quote The GBA em has a throttle so I could control the speed. Now i have only one game for the GBA and It is in the same attachment as the GBA. so when I download the GBA the game extracts also. The GBC has a game with it also. However, I alsi have TWO separate downloads for the GBC. None of the GBC games can be played because the speed is over 1000, when it should be near 100. And, GBC doesn't have a throttle, and at "0" frame skip it still runs near 1000. So, I deleted the GBC em and the GBC games. I still have the GBA em in my documents as a Zip file. So, the guys in Emulator Zone.com told me that GBA will convert and play the GBC games. But, I don't know how to place them so that they will be in the same folder when they download. So that's why I want to make a new folder and place all my Em and games in it. And if possible, place it in my Documents. It seems to me this all requires more explanation. GBA ... GBC ... emulators ... throttle ..., etc. What does all that have to do with your basic question of downloading files from your AOL mail? Quote from: soybean on March 30, 2008, 02:42:47 PM Quote from: casse2go on March 30, 2008, 02:00:26 PMIf I confuse files with folders please chalk it up to my illiteracy of computers.Well, you seemed to know the difference in your original post, where you said, "So what I'm asking for is someone to please step me through the process of loading them all into one folder." GBA is the GameBoy Advanced GBC is the GameBoy Color Emulators are online facsimilies of the GameBoys. they are used along with Roms or whatever downloads to play video games ,online in my case. Speed...Emulators allow the roms(games) to be played at different speeds. And there are different Emulators. I use the VisualBoy Em which does not have a throttle, so I can't adjust the speed of my ems, which for some reason is 10 to 40 times faster than it should be. I used to play them in safe mode so maybe I damaged them. Anyway, the Ems have "Frame Skip" which also adjusts the speed, but even at zero (the slowest speed); they still run at 1000, when it should be 100. The GBC maxes out at frame skip 5 so you can guess the speed. Throttle...The GBA Emulator has a throttle which allows you to throttle up or down the speed of the frame skips. So at zero I can throttle it to 100 and play the games for GBA. SInce I have no idea why they are running so fast on this new computer. and I still need (Need, because I host a few games in a video game site, and I use them for reference.) the games. I was told that the GBA will also play the GBC games. That's why I want to put them all in the same place, file or folder. Oh yeah, and the attachments containing the ems and games are in my AOL mail. Quote from: casse2go on March 30, 2008, 10:06:03 PM Quote from: soybean on March 30, 2008, 02:42:47 PMHi All, I decided to help us help me by asking AOL how to download their mail attachments. Find below the email sent in response. I have a few questions about it.Quote from: casse2go on March 30, 2008, 02:00:26 PMIf I confuse files with folders please chalk it up to my illiteracy of computers.Well, you seemed to know the difference in your original post, where you said, "So what I'm asking for is someone to please step me through the process of loading them all into one folder." Incident Number: 3756538 Dear... Hello! My name is Jon. It is my pleasure to assist you with issues or concerns regarding the AOL service. I understand that you would like to know how to create a windows folder and then download and save the file attachments you received via e-mail on the newly created folder. Thank you for bringing this matter to our attention. I recommend you save or print a copy of this e-mail for future reference. To create a windows folder, please follow the steps below: 1. Open the location where you would like to create the folder. casse2go Q: What does this mean? If I want the file in my Documents, how do I put it there. Is to open it simple to click on Documents from Start? 2. Once there, click the FILE menu, click NEW then click FOLDER to create a new folder. Note: You can also right-click your mouse on location, click NEW then click FOLDER. To download a file attachment from an e-mail, please follow the steps below: Note: The AOL Mailbox shows that an e-mail has a file attachment by displaying a square box image under the ENVELOP icon shown in the TYPE column. You need to download and save the attachment before you can use it. We recommend you never download a file unless you know the person who sent it. 1. On the AOL toolbar, click the READ icon. 2. Double-click the e-mail with the file attachment. 3. On the bottom left of the e-mail, click the DOWNLOAD button to open the drop-down menu, then click DOWNLOAD NOW. Note: If you receive the message asking "Do you wish to download this file?" click the YES button. 4. In the Download Manager window, locate the folder you have created, then click the SAVE button. Once the file is finished downloading, the Download Confirmation window may appear. Casse2go Q: Is the DOWNLOAD MANAGER WINDOW that window that will have OPEN FIND FILE DOWNLOAD AGAIN ETC? 5. Many types of files, including pictures, sounds, and videos will be automatically opened by the AOL software. If the file is not able to be opened by the AOL software, you must choose from one of the following options: Casse2go Q: Is this where I might get the msg, "AOL cannot open this file? But they always do". - Click the OPEN FILE button to open the file. - Click the FIND FILE button to open the folder containing the file. - Click the CLOSE button to close the Confirmation window. Notes: - If you have already downloaded the file, you can also click the DOWNLOAD AGAIN button. Casse2go Q: I downloaded and then deleted all the GBC stuff. Can I find that and place it in the folder rather than downloading the files again? If so how? I can never find files...my little doggie just looks so sad waiting for me to command him. - If the AOL software is unable to open the file, you must have software that is compatible with the downloaded file(s) in order to view or use it. For example, if you receive a WordPerfect file, you must have either WordPerfect or a word processing program capable of opening WordPerfect files. Also make sure the file is compatible with your computer; a Macintosh computer may not be able to read some Windows files, and vice versa. I hope my response proves helpful. Please let us know if you have any additional questions or concerns. Casse2go Says... For anyone responding to my questions, please give your name so that I can keep track of who said what. Thank you all. I think some frank comments are needed here. On March 30, you said this: Quote Really, to me files and folders are the same but apparently in computer speak they are different. I know the term folders because I was told to make a folder once for a download. That indicates a LACK of understanding of very basic concepts relating to working with files on a computer. It indicates you really need some training in those basic concepts. And, let's look at this again: Quote from: soybean on March 30, 2008, 12:48:03 PM Quote from: casse2go on March 30, 2008, 12:16:26 PMIf you do understand that using the same file name, for new attachments received, that you used for a previously saved attachment overwrites the previous attachment/file with the current one, then, again, this indicates a lack of basic knowledge about working with files.Okay, so when the file is ready to be saved, and SAVE AS comes up I delete what is in the bar if anything(usually the name of the item) I then type in the file I made for Zelda Ems, and click Save on the right of the bar. Do this for all the items...What I get from your comments is that you're overwriting an existing file each time you save an attachment again; in other words, by using the same file name (Zelda Ems) everytime you save an attachment, you're overwriting, i.e. erasing, the last file saved with that name. Your lack of knowledge makes giving help to you in forums very difficult. If I, or other forum members, could sit next to you while you're using your computer and see exactly what you're doing, it would be so much easier to get a clear picture of what's happening. But, we don't have that option. If possible, visit a library and withdraw a book and/or video on introductory Microsoft Windows concepts. Also, find out if there's a computer users' group in your area. They may have classes for users of various levels of experience. Or, find someone who can work with at your computer to help you resolve this. |

Solve : Google Video Problem? |
Answer» I am trying to watch some sermons on Google Video and have a problem. The video buffers to about 3 minutes then stops buffering. The video is about 50 minutes long. I can't get it to load all the WAY. I have tried watching it on my laptop also and it does the same thing. I have also tried using different internet browsers, but I still get the same problem. When I watch videos on YouTube or Godtube I have no problems at all, but I do have problems watching videos on Google. Does anyone know what the problem is? If the video's buffering is interrupted in any way, an incomplete copy can get stuck in your cache and never fully buffer. You can attempt to restart the buffering by clearing your browser's cache. If the issue continues to happen, you might want to check the stability of your internet connection. From: http://www.google.com/support/youtube/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=74662 I appreciate you taking time out of your day and trying to help me. I guess I'll need to get a FASTER connection?Possibly. It could also be an inconsistency between you and your ISP. So if broadband isn't available but another dial-up connection is you may also want to try that. |

Answer» Hey guys, not sure if any of you have a LG KU990 but here goes.... How big was this lassie ? ?Hahahaha!! Nah she really thin actually, which made it even more confusing :S I didn't take the extended warranty no, but I have only had it about 2 months so it should still be covered, shouldn't it?! I have called them and they told me I needed to go to the Carphone Warehouse (where I took out the contract). But if I say that it was my fault they WONT take it under warranty will they, as it was 'User Damage'... Any more ideas mate?! ChrisSure...don't mention the lassie... |

Solve : finding lost documents? |
Answer» Hello, I am trying to recover lost pictures on my hard drive. I had overwritten the previous xp edition. Any ideas?hmm...you can do the all around search, I had overwritten the previous xp editionWhat EXACTLY did you do?Yes, what EXACTLY did you do? And if you want to be ABLE to recover the pictures, don't do anything with that computer. Leave it turned off, use another computer to reply and to surf the web. The longer the computer is running, the lower your chances of RECOVERY because the files COULD be overwritten. This is ASSUMING you formatted and/or repartitioned the hard drive..... |

Solve : Are E-greeting web sites safe?? |
Answer» I would like to send electronic greetings (E-greetings) to friends and family but have heard that such web SITES for the most part are virus-laden. Can someone RECOMMEND a good e-greeting card web site that you have used and been SATISFIED with? I realize that when one is on the Internet there is no such thing as virus-proof but I have friends who use certain e-greeting sites, such as Doozycards and AMERICAN Greetings.com, who swear by them. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thank you. |

Answer» Hello, I was wondering if i were to connect the output of my computer's audio to an audio amplifier "assuming the amp would amplify the signal by around 30dB", and then that amplifier to a speaker or back to my computer. Would i be in any danger of destroying the amplifier or would the computer/ speaker be in danger if i turned up the volume too high on the computer? |

Solve : Forcing an uninstall? |
Answer» This is embarrassing... Cannot download the ISO because CD-ROM drive is stuffed.Use daemon tools. No need to bun the ISO to install it. Quote from: dairyman on March 03, 2008, 10:48:27 PM I can't run the Windows Installer Cleanup Utility. (Again, caused by the broken CD-ROM drive)What do you need your disc drive for? Quote Use daemon tools. No need to bun the ISO to install it Thanks. I'll try it. Quote What do you need your disc drive for? I thought I read somewhere that you would have to reinstall all your programs. Then again, I have terrible memory, so maybe it didn't say that I need to reinstall the programs at all.The Installer Cleanup Utility only cleans the installers you choose to clean. So you shouldn't need to reinstall anything. Thanks for the reply. After checking the download size of the ISO, I don't think the ISO is a good choice. I'll use the web installer instead. When I go to the uninstaller for Visual Basic 2008 Express Beta 2, it says "Installing", and then it goes to an error page. Then I get an error message saying that the installer has encountered a problem and needs to close. Will the Installer Cleanup Utility help me fix this? Or do I need to manually uninstall it? Thank you for your time.Try reinstalling VS 2008 and then uninstall it.I can't, because if I download the latest version (which is the only one I can find) it asks me to remove the pre-release first, but I can't uninstall it using Add/Remove Programs OR manually uninstall it. Add/Remove Programs just says that it cannot be Installed. I didn't choose to Install it I chose to uninstall.. I don't have the VS 2008 CD. Simply put: I cannot reinstall and uninstall.Good time to put Revo Uninstaller to the test...I tried Revo Uninstaller, but it kept asking for the Visual Studio 2008 CD. I don't have the CD.Maybe you could try deleting the Visual Basic folder and then deleting the Add/Remove programs entry using CCleaner?Quote from: Soviet Genius on March 10, 2008, 12:10:19 PM Maybe you could try deleting the Visual Basic folder and then deleting the Add/Remove programs entry using CCleaner? OK, but what about registry keys? Will CCleaner remove those too?I'm not sure, but I'm guessing it will if you run the registry cleanup in it after you delete the program. Or maybe you could remove the entries using regedit?I found out that it's because some assembly files are missing. Locking topic. |

Solve : Are they really doing that with emulators?? |
Answer» Okay, I know I am naive about the wonderful world of computers. I MEAN I am totally intimidated by what they can do. And my only envy in life has to be PEOPLE who know the ins and outs of computers. Yesterday I was looking for FAQs on vid game emulators and got a Yahoo! search page filled with emulators for OS or computers. Is that right? Are they making ems that can change a computer from say a P3 to a P4? My mouth is still hanging open at the thought. No "they're" not. |

Solve : Dumb question about burning a music cd...? |
Answer» I haven't burned a music disc in a long time, but was doing ONE for a friend last night, and I started WONDERING, if a blank cd can hold 700mb, and the average size of an mp3 is 5mb, then why does the blank cd only hold about 16 songs, instead of the 130-140 that the size WOULD indicate? Just curious....Quote from: roccenstein on March 26, 2008, 09:32:42 AM I haven't burned a music disc in a long time, but was doing one for a friend last night, and I started wondering, if a blank cd can hold 700mb, and the average size of an mp3 is 5mb, then why does the blank cd only hold about 16 songs, instead of the 130-140 that the size would indicate? Just curious.... Because you are burning it as an audio CD. Chances are, your burning software is converting the .mp3 files as part of the burning process. Have a look at your burned disc, in a computer. What is on it? Not .mp3 files... RIGHT? And, (hopefully) , this CD will play in regular 'music' CD players, like in a car. On the other hand, if you burn that CD as a data CD, then your burning software will treat those .mp3 files just like any other data files, and simply copy them to the CD. Then it will hold probably over 150 .mp3 song files. But! - if you want to play them from that CD, you'll need a CD player that says it plays .mp3 files, or a computer, to play them. try burning it in an mp3 format and compare the RESULTS.. |

Solve : I just "built" a computer and it's not working.? |
Answer» Hello, The video card, an 8800 GTS, has two "DVI" ports, I believe, so I had to use an adaptor in order use my monitor. The first suspect... If the MBoard has onboard video remove the card and hook it up to that and see what happens... You also did not mention if you are getting any beeps during POST. These will normally give a clue as to what's amiss...Thanks for the advice. Maybe this information will help: The components: CASE -- Antec Sonata III RAM -- Patriot PDC22G6400LLK DDR2 (Two, maybe four, GB) Processor -- Intel CD2 E8400 Motherboard -- Asus P5N-E SLI Hard drive -- Western Digital SATA, 500 GB Power supply -- Antec EA-500 Graphics card -- EVGA e-GeForce 8800 GTS DVD burner -- Samsung SH-203B Cooler -- Thermalright Ultra-120 eXtreme, with Noctua fan. I disconnected everything with the exception of the processor and powered up. There was no beep, but I understand that MANY systems don't ever beep. It doesn't seem that the motherboard has onboard video capabilities. I'd try another vid card and leave the RAM out to see if it does beep...it should. Power down and put the RAM back in if the beeps work. Then make sure the thermal compound was applied properly... InstructionsI took the video card out of my "good" computer in order to try it in the new one; the connector is different, so I couldn't use it. I have disassembled and reassembled this thing too many times to count. Since the other options that I have involve new and/or different components, it seems that I'll now have to take it to a professional. Some of these components are nearly a year old now, so I'm well past the return period. Thanks for the suggestions, but I am at a true roadblock. Once I am able to take it in to the pros, I'll post the resolution here. Sheltonbest of luckAre you saying you got no beeps while powering up with no RAM installed ? ?If you have a way, go online and down load the manual to this motherboard. It will tell you alot, and you may be overlooking something simple.Update: The processor was bad. Hopefully I'll have replaced it by next week. Shelton |
