Answer» I have this friend that built a computer and has been running fine for a few years. And all of a sudden he
started to have these wierd symptoms like he would press the power button and it wouldn't boot up.
The computer would boot up and give a BLINKING curser in the upper left corner. Games would freeze
randomly. The sound in games would malfunction. His bios and windows would display the wrong time.
He would sometimes boot and it would say no boot device DETECTED. That is almost all the symptoms. And
the stupid part is that it will do these symptoms randomly sometimes, and then stop doing it totally. Then
a week later, start again. We tried a new video card. We tried taking out some of his ram. We tried
switching ram slots. And we unplugged the hard drive and tried a new operating system. It will still do
these symptoms sometimes and sometimes not. He is running an asus m2n sli deluxe motherboard with
a 3 ghz dual CORE and 4 1 gig sticks of ram. And aerocool 500 watt power supply and a geforce 9600. Can
anyone help me?You remember what your friend did last time before it happen ? Something must be damaged, could be the motherboard, did your friend have a power OUTAGE last time ? Thats what I was thinking too that something with the hardware must be damaged. The only two problems
that I know of that he has had that may have caused it is that he said he woke up one morning to find that
the computer was off because his heatsink somehow became detached from the processor. Then he put
it back on and it worked fine. This happened way before the symptoms. And the other problem is that
his power supply plug in the back where the ac plug goes got pulled out. But he soldered everything back
together and he is sure that it is right. I don't believe it's the power supply because it would cause the
symptoms to happen all the time. Usually a power supply failure doesn't cause these kinds of problems
anyway.Thank this is what I am facing. Solved! __________________ devices exercises patches pills semen quit smoking skincare business career COMMUNICATIONS shop [/FONT] Have him replace both the CMOS battery and the Power Supply...
