Solve : AC plugin to wall versus USB? |
|
Answer» :-[Is there such a thing as an adapter to convert from a radio AC cable that you plug in the wall socket (photo att.) to a USB cable that I can plug into my computer? I am trying to download all my CD and Cassettes music to my computer but my radio only has a 2 prong plug. It is yes to your first question but I made a mistake my radio does not play CDs only Cassettes. I know I can transfer CDs directly from my CD rom sorry about that. I checked and there is a place to plug in a headset but I don't understand how it can help me transfer my CDs?? That is why I was looking for such an adapter. An adapter wouldn't help you, because that power cord is only capable of POWERING the device, not transferring data. If you had a male-male AUX cable (also just called an AUX extension cable), which looks like this: You can use a cable like that to plug it into your computer's microphone port. From there, you can use any sort of recording software (heck, even the default sound recorder will work) to save your music directly.I understand what you are saying about the cable you are showing to plug it into my computer's microphone port but what is plugged in my radio, the other end? Sorry but I am not used to all this. Please do not take offense but you are going to have to PAY more attention as to how you present your questions and also how you respond to other member's questions. For instance you replied with this "but I made a mistake my radio does not play CDs only Cassettes" then this "I know I can transfer CDs directly from my CD rom sorry about that." then this " I don't understand how it can help me transfer my CDs?". When it must mean that you don't believe you know how to transfer "cassettes" not cd's. Given that i asked you if you had a headphone jack output on your radio and then Helpmeh showed you a pictorial representation of the cable required. I had already told you that if it did you would be able to connect to the computer and with appropriate software (which again Helpmeh has told you) you can do the transfer. So what is your issue remaining? Is it that you don't know where to plug the other end into the computer? To try and assist you to achieve your objective and save us all some time here is a link to a site that explains the process for many types of music transfer from multiple external (and internal ) sources. http://www.ehow.com/how_6701317_transfer-music-pc.html Please read it thoroughly and then if any further questions arise come back and we shall try to help you.truenorthHow to Transfer Music to a PC In the SECTION, Audio Cassettes, Vinyl Records and Other Formats, they say to use Audacity, which I had difficulty understanding & using. Waveosaur seems easier & can also output to mp3. It uses the Lame encoder which must be downloaded separately & copied to the Wavosaur folder. I used Wavosaur on an old Pentium II laptop with no problems. http://www.wavosaur.com/Thanks everyone for all your help. Quote from: Helpmeh on January 16, 2013, 01:44:04 PM An adapter wouldn't help you, because that power cord is only capable of powering the device, not transferring data. If you had a male-male AUX cable (also just called an AUX extension cable), which looks like this:A correction is needed here. You need to plug that cable into a Line-in port, not a microphone port. If your computer does not have a separate Line-in port,, this procedure may not work. Quote from: soybean on January 18, 2013, 11:49:05 AM A correction is needed here. You need to plug that cable into a Line-in port, not a microphone port. If your computer does not have a separate Line-in port,, this procedure may not work. Not all computers have a dedicated line-in port, but have a multifunctional mic port (and most with extra input ports can exchange their functionality also). @OP, if you do have a dedicated line-in port, you will want to use it instead of a mic port.I SUPPOSE in the interest of full security when doing this for the 1st time ensure the volume control output of your radio is at a very low volume. Use the audio adjustment level viewer (of the computer's software for the ripping program ) to gauge if it is high enough. I urge you to do some brief trials and listen to the results to help you obtain the best level of quality.truenorthI mentioned the Line-in because I connected a tape player to the Mic port on my laptop, which has no Line-in, and I believe it damaged the computer. When I played the tape player, the sound on the laptop was awful and I knew something was wrong. Immediately after that, the built-in wireless adapter stopped and never worked again. I also connected the tape player to the Mic port on front of my desktop and, like the laptop, the sound was screechy. I then connected to a Line-in on back and that worked well. Certainly the possibility of damage can result if volume input levels are not kept low. Personally i would not (and do not) do the audio transfer in the manner that has been presented so far in this thread. It can be done but the caution i have urged must be followed. I take my non-amplified audio source and run it next into a pre amplifier and from there to the line in computer port and make adjustments to production volume level from within the software i use. Have had great success with that method and never have CAUSED any damage thus far.truenorth |

Solve : Wireless Monitoring? |
|
Answer» The guy that IM curently doing some work for is disabled know an has a huge TV that he would like to throw his computer desktop up too. He wants to be able to do it wirelessly an we cant move the tv or computer. He doesnt want to run wires ether an has a usb antenna adapterMy thoughts are to use a wireless HDMI BRIDGE connection to send the video via HDMI connection wirelessly to the TV which as a HDMI port. This requires both the PC and TV to have HDMI ports. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16815804040 Linked for example of what you would need and not to solicit on neweggs behalf. yes, he does have that. so I cant use a wireless adapter an some how remotely send it to his tv A regular wireless adapter just won't cut it. You'll have to use one of the solutions suggested in the above post. Quote from: Ryuk on July 15, 2013, 08:52:36 AM yes, he does have that. so I cant use a wireless adapter an some how remotely send it to his tv Assuming this means he does have an HDMI port then you could get the SYSTEM linked by DaveLembke. This should handle video and audio, you may then want a wireless keyboard and mouse for controlling it. Just bear in mind the ranges of these things, the HDMI should be pretty long but a wireless keyboard and mouse will struggle through walls. While doing something over WiFi is possible, it would require what is essentially ANOTHER PC hooked up to the TV which defeats the whole point really.right, which, isnt something that we want to do. I thought that I just be able to do it with what he did have an I seen those units cheaper but, differnt manufacture |

Solve : Cannot go from email link to web page.? |
|
Answer» Until about 2 months ago, I could CLICK on a link in an email advertisement and it WOULD go straight to that site. E.g., the link in an email from Publishers Clearing House. Now, it goes to "about:blank" while the wheel SPINS and shows "connecting to link.superprize.pch.com...." and times out after awhile. Same thing when I try to connect to a link in an email from DiscoverCard. A Discovercard email says "click here" to view something. Clicking on that link gives "http://link.email.discover.com/r/BC9NZO/POP10/FIRTZ6/E18BT/J8EGQ/UU/h" and it times out after awhile, but after plenty of time to go to it. It does that every time on every email link that starts out as "link." Website links in an email that are actual http addresses work fine, but all that start as "link" time out. What happened to make my computer do this and how can I get it back to where it will go to these emailed links?I did a "copy/paste" on the discover card site and this is what it brought up. |

Solve : Can only format 1 disk a day???? |
|
Answer» Am trying to BACK up pics and stuff. As I load a DVD+R into the drive it will format it but only 1 a day. As soon as it is done copying files and I go to put another disk in it says it is unable to format disk. So I wait a day and the next morning I can format a disk again...but just one. Drive overheating? Good call Salmon...hadn't considered that.I suspect that an hour or two might be enough in reality but the drive sounds suspect. I remember when they used to be built pretty well... These DAYS if i get 2 1/2 years out of an optical burner i feel i'm in the Bonus round...I have got a Sony that is 3 years old and an LG that is 8 years old, both still fine. However a drive that is used for burning many disks will fail sooner, especially if the ventilation is poor. An older TDK still hums along nicely for me... A dual layer LG failed on me after 10 months...just this year. |

Solve : Dial-Up Noises? |

Answer» I've got a 56k Dial-Up Modem in my new laptop (well, my new second-hand laptop, rather) and was WONDERING if there's a way to get it to make noises like it would when connecting to the internet back in the day to impress and irritate others. Are you saying this modem is internal on the laptop ? ? Yes, it's inside the laptop. I think so, it says it's a 56k dial-up modem...I am afraid you are in for a disapointement. "Ports: 2 USB 2.0, 1 ExpressCard slot, 1 PCMCIA card slot, 56K Modem, Ethernet LAN port, PS2 port, headphone jack, microphone jack, parallel port, VGA out port " From the computer specs. What you have is a "port" to which you can connect a 56k modem. The Internet connect ability is via an internal wi=fi card.truenorth |

Solve : Data files? |
|
Answer» What are data files? I looked in the dictionary but... My QUESTION relates to seeing them on my Samsung3s as well as on the DESKTOP. I'm trying to make file management easier and reduce the clutter when I open the 'files' folder. They appear to have no purpose as far as entertainment or links. They often have the same name almost as the music or video file I'm looking for so it's time wasting and problematic. Can I delete them on my phone or do I need to go through all the files and put them in a folder assuming that is possible? If they have no use other than system information why are they even visable? Data files are files you created. This includes word processing files, spreadsheet files, and files you've created with any SOFTWARE. So, you don't want to delete them, do you? Well, of course, you might want to delete files that you no longer want. But, be sure you no longer want them before you delete them. |

Solve : Help with Typical Environmental Specifications? |

Solve : Windows 7 will void HP warrenty. True?? |
|
Answer» New buyers of HP computers who downgrade to Windows 7 will void the warrenty says an HP release. HARD to believe. Or is it? HP Support: Downgrading Your New Computer To Windows 7 Voids The Warranty (Update: No, Not Really)http://consumerist.com/2013/02/13/downgrading-your-new-hp-computer-to-windows-7-voids-the-warranty/ There are more like that on the HP forums. Here is another from Bleeping Computer. Quote I got the 2 year warranty with the laptop but I wonder if installing Windows 7 over my Windows Vista will void my laptop's warranty? WOULD dual-booting be able to prevent it if it will void the warranty? http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/t/294572/will-installing-windows-7-void-my-warranty/ So the question I have is this? Is Windows 8 relay ready? How long should I wait to buy a new PC? A year? Once you move past the Metro SCREEN you are pretty much using Windows 7 (my experience anyway). To me Windows 8 is pretty much Windows 7 with touch screen abilities. I don't have a touch screen. Oh, and no start button... Quote from: Geek-9pm on February 17, 2013, 11:06:37 PM So the question I have is this? Is Windows 8 relay ready? How long should I wait to buy a new PC? A year? Solve : Don't Buy a Refurbished Computer? |
|
Answer» Don't Buy a Refurbished Computer Example: When it comes to refurbs the only inverse between NEW and REFURB systems I have seen would be someone on ebay who thinks that their 6 year old computer is still worth $500 because they paid $1200 for it new etc, when its really worth less than $300. Newegg and Tiger Direct have had reasonably priced and reliable refurbs. For one company that I was the IT guru for, we bought 30 QTY HP SFF Pentium 4 3.0 Ghz Desktop Computers for $120 each with 1GB RAM, 80GB HDD, keyboards, mice, and they all came preloaded with Windows XP Pro. The refurb systems were cheaper than buying the Windows XP Pro keys which was an easy sell to the GM of the company to replace the older hardware + operating system upgrades for less than the cost of the XP Pro keys new. It was like buying the XP Pro keys at a discount of $20 off and getting newer faster workstations for free to replace the old Pentium 2 and 3 era systems they had that were running Windows 2000 Professonal back in 2008. I was able to make all of these ready to go by using our RIS server to push images to them and then activate their XP Pro keys that were affixed to them from factory. Quote - If your a gamer you probably dont want to buy used and want the newest top of the line hardware to max out the game settings without lag and have bragging RIGHTS of the fastest, newest computer in your social circle. (Your likely paying way over $1000 for all hardware that makes up this computer.) I have had good experiences with buying refurbs, but it might be because I only buy them through Newegg or Tiger Direct. In addition to the 30 refurbs bought for the company, I bought a Toshiba Portege Pentium II 366Mhz refurb laptop from Tiger Direct back in 2001 for $349 when new laptops were $1000 or more. The accupointer failed on it 3 days after getting it constantly drifting on its own. I complained about this to Tiger Direct and they shipped me a replacement overnight delivery and I was able to swap laptops and box the troubled one up and hand it back to the UPS guy to give them it back. The replacement ran for 7 years without any issues and I ended up selling it to a friends wife in 2008 for $125 who wanted it for fantasy football and nascar etc since she only needed web surfing and word processing abilities. I definately got my $224 worth out of it with college etc. So I dont agree with dont buy a refurb. I feel that you should buy what you need and are willing to afford! And gave the 4 examples of users as quoted above. |

Solve : Looking for a cheap obsolete 256MB stick of PC100 SODIMM SDRAM? |
|
Answer» https://supportapj.dell.com/support/edocs/systems/latc600/en/ug/specs.htm Was hoping to find a 256MB RAM stick for my old Dell Latitude C600 which uses PC100 SDRAM SODIMM memory and finding a few 133Mhz RAM sticks for $10, but no 100Mhz sticks for less than $20 ( RAM + Shipping ) Anyone know of someplace other than Amazon or Ebay that sells good obsolete parts. Doesn't matter if its used vs new, just needs to be good memory. Right now I am running on 384MB RAM ( 256mb + 128mb ) sticks and want to replace the 128MB stick with a 256mb and get my RAM count to 512MB. Just cant justify paying $20 for this old dinosour, but dont mind paying around $10 to get an extra 128MB RAM count. Running this laptop with a 20GB HDD and Windows XP Pro SP2. Upgrading to SP3 and all other patches cause Windows to bloat in its memory needs and causes this fast laptop for a Pentium 3 slow down to a crawl. Figured I'd try 512MB RAM and that might fix the issue with SP3 and all other updates bringing laptop to a crawl. Also 512MB RAM would give me the ability to install Ubuntu or another version of Linux onto this laptop and run on the minimum recommended memory, although some distros are starting to state 768MB and 1GB RAM minimum now.If no one on here comes up with having what your looking for you might try some local computer repair shops that have been around that go back to near the time when that technology was in fashion. If they don't keep a particularly clean shop they may have something that has that ram in under a shelf somewhere they would sell. Often when i need older ram i check out garage sales and often find what i need for practically nothing including everything else that is in the case. However given that this is a laptop finding the smaller ram modules might not be so easy.truenorthThanks for the REPLY... yah I tried contacting the 3 shops that know me and I have friends that work at, and they are actually pretty good at getting rid of obsolete parts before they become as obsolete as this RAM stick is in age. They did have an older similar model Dell Laptop TUCKED in the back that had RAM in it, but it was 2 x 128MB sticks for 256MB RAM. Back when this Dell was new the 256MB sticks were pricey and most people were happy with 2 x 128MB sticks. When I got this laptop for free from a customer 4 years ago that I did some work for who wanted a proper WAY to dispose of it, it only had 128MB Ram in it and originally Windows 98SE. I had a Toshiba 500Mhz Pentium 3 Portege that had a single 256MB PC100 stick in it paired with the 128MB of integrated memory and, so I used that stick to get my faster Dell 600Mhz to 256+128 for 384MB RAM and install Windows XP Pro to it which it runs well in speed at clean Windows XP SP2 install, but comes to a crawl at SP3 and all updates from clean SP2 to SP3 to date. Looking into the issue, memory free with SP2 clean install was about 120MB, and after all (want to say 100 updates) with SP3, there is only about 30MB free memory. So thinking that maxing it out at 512MB RAM will help greatly since its starving for memory with SP3 at 384MB, yet SP2 runs fast and can have 3 things open at same time etc while on SP3 its barely enough to run OpenOffice 3.3.0 I guess I will just have to check ebay and amazon when I remember to do so and maybe someone will unload an old stick one of these days for a price I am willing to pay.Just a point re your observations on the impact on the ram with Sp3 in XP as opposed to what the performance was like with Sp2. I am not advocating this (as i have not done it--well actually i have but not intentionally) but i have read quite a few articles on-line re this very issue. The general consensus was don't install SP3 for the very reason you state. In my case reference my earlier COMMENT re inadvertently. I have an older Computer (probably had 98 on it initially) installed XP and when Sp3 came out (it had SP2 by then ) i couldn't get SP3 to install on it. After many attempts i gave up and it was about that time that i became aware of people suggesting don't bother with SP3. So that further motivated me to not bother. But it did not demonstrate as your experience has the change re speed that having done so would have shown. You might want to examine that option.truenorthMemory maker Crucial.com recommends PC133 for your computer. See http://www.crucial.com/store/listparts.aspx?model=Latitude%20C600%20Series&Cat=RAM Some or many, but not all, systems can use PC100 and PC133 together. For some info on that, see http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/162032-31-pc133-pc100-together or do a search on mixing pc100 and pc133 RAM. When PC100 and PC133 are combined, the computer will run at the lower speed of PC100 but you still get the benefit of more RAM. Thanks for sharing that soybean. I tried a PC133 stick I had that was 512MB and looking back now it didnt post because it only supports 256MB per slot, so the single 512MB PC133 stick I had was beyond what it can address. Going to see if I can still get that 256MB PC133 stick I saw on amazon a week or so ago and then pair up this 133Mhz with my 100Mhz to run at downclock of 100Mhz.Got my 2 x 256MB PC133 SODIMM SDRAM sticks in the mail from Amazon at $5 each Plus shipping, and installed them. At the price of $5 each i figured I'd get a matched pair to instal vs mixing PC100 and PC133 sticks. Thanks so much for pointing me towards PC133 in place of PC100. I now have 512MB RAM in my old Dell laptop, and its running even better than it did on 384MB !!!! |

Solve : Holographic Storage - Sept. 2012 article? |
|
Answer» Figured I'd share this and post it here vs computer news since the article is almost 6 months old and not latest news. Came across it when digging into information on the future of optical storage. A short while back Sony stated that they are pulling out of the optical storage drive market. And I was curious as to if any other companies stepped up to the plate to take optical storage further or if it has a doomed future due to the cloud. Figured I'd share this and post it here vs computer news since the article is almost 6 months old and not latest news. Came across it when digging into information on the future of optical storage. A short while back Sony stated that they are pulling out of the optical storage drive market. And I was curious as to if any other companies stepped up to the plate to take optical storage further or if it has a doomed future due to the cloud.I'm not sure I understand this. Sony has been part of the working group, but it hasn't been the only company. My understanding is the standards are part of a corporate group effort by Sony,Phillips, and possibly a few other companies. Sony isn't a one-man band, here. Quote I personally like storing my data locally and having control over it. Even though I have some free cloud space online through google and amazon etc, I dont use it.me too! 'Cloud Storage' is a bit of a silly term when it could just be called "Stored on another person's computer" while also showing the risks you take with that approach. Quote I also like to store my data in a manner that protects it over time, such as I have had to migrate floppies to CD-R's, then migrate CD-R's to DVD-R's, and only storing long term on DVD-R's is where I am at now, and I haven't made the leap to Blu-Ray storage because the media is still costly for 25GB storage per disc and storing 5 DVD-R's to a single-sided Blu-Ray is not that appealing, so I have stuck with 4.7GB per disc. Looking into Holographic Storage with 1.6TB of storage as of 2010 would be so sweet if it was affordable. Not to trivialize your point here, but I cannot see how you would create that much data. The only thing I can think of is this is some sort of backup archival storage system? In which case I'm forced to wonder- ALOUD- whether the data on your floppy disks really needs to be switched over or whether it's obsolete? What I mean is- can you think of when you might ever need that SiS Virge Windows 3.1 Video Driver, type deal. Quote I have my data on a large external hard drive, but I treat it as a single point of failure, all eggs in one basket approach to ease of access long term mass storage and not write protected from infections like optical storage, and susceptable to many weaknesses. All critical data that is also stored on this external is also burned to DVD-R's just in case the external drive should ever fail. Again, my main question here is not how you should store this information, but rather culling out what you don't need. Your storage issues seem to stem from a sort of "packrat" attitude. One I can 100% understand, because I have it myself. It seems when I decide to delete a folder or files it doesn't take long for me to realize that I needed them. Quote Back when I got my first optical writable drive, a CD-R drive, I had stacks of floppies with up to 720k or 1.44MB per disk, and being able to get rid of hundreds of floppies (literally able to sqeeze (451) floppies or more per CD-R disc )and burn a CD with all the data on it was so sweet. I drilled holes through stacks of floppies and threw out a 30 gallon trash bag full of them 13 years ago. These days I am looking for a similar storage leap in which potentially (340) DVD-R's can be squeezed onto a single 1.6TB Holographic Disc.Tape Drives. Some high capacity Tape Drives go up to 20GB and 40GB. Quote Most people would be happy with just buying a 3TB external hard drive, and maybe buy two of them a master and slave to perform backups to, since how often would both fail to create a total data loss. But I like optical storage in that its protected from infections and other threats by design.Backup systems are best done in LAYERS. Then the issue is stale data. To me though it really sounds like you are backing up stuff you just don't need to backup. This might be heavily weighted by my own preferences, but this is my strategy: I try to only ever backup things I created. Things like my Wallpapers (125 or so at this point, constituting over 100GB of Photoshop files... ) My APplication Source code, and pretty much only the things I created. Some specific things other people backup that I don't: The Operating System. That is, a lot of people suggest creating Disk Images on a regular basis. I can understand that- the purpose being that you can easily be back in the game after a disaster. My approach is to use PowerArchiver's (Archiving program, paid, but totally awesome) in-built backup script to zip up my important Source-code folders into a 7-zip file, which get's stored on my second hard drive. When the drive storage get's into the red, I burn the latest archives from the backup folder (as many as can fit, usually 4) to a DVD-R drive, and delete the rest. Arguably I don't even need to back them up, since most of them have remote repositories on github or elsewhere, which is also why I have no problem erasing older backups. For example if I decide "hmm, I kind of like the implementation I used last week" I can just grab the appropriate source from the repository history. of course that is VERY specific, and the main reason I don't backup more is simply because there is too much data I would have to backup, and not enoguh time or space to put it all and keep it fresh- my 750GB as well as my 1.5TB are both +90% full, and that is after moving a lot of data to my smaller External Drives. So I prioritize: I know from experience it's a lot faster to reinstall an OS, redownload an application, or set application preferences than it is to rewrite software from the ground up, so I do my best to avoid that scenario. I have had some awesome failures at that, like my attempt to refresh my remote git repository resulting in me deleting everything I had done in the past week (Windows Volume Shadow Copy to the rescue!) Quote You can have two 3TB external drives and connect one and get it infected and then connect the other and infect the pair, then depending on the nature of the virus you could be lucky in just scanning a drive that still works and cleaning it or dealing with two drives that no longer read and of which the partition tables are trashed etc.You are VASTLY overestimating what malware is currently capable of. The worst I can see happening is a File Infector infecting the Executables stored on that drive. Malware that spreads to external drives is usually doing that to try to spread- by corrupting the Partition table or other things like that it simply prevents itself from spreading successfully, which sort of defeats the purpose. Nonetheless, your purpose here is OK- it's just a layered backup, which you want in case your primary backup is corrupted or broken for any reason. Malware corruption is far less likely than a standard Hard drive failure, but since the actions should protect from either situation it's still a good approach. Quote The other feature of optical storage I like is the simplicity of it. The data is on an optical disc which can be inserted into another optical drive that is compatible to access the data.Hard Drives are easily installed into enclosures or other Systems, though. Quote SSD's are great, but you then have all the data on the drive bound to trusting that a chip will not fail. Chips are sensitive to Aging and falling out of tolerance, Static Discharge, Solar Flares, and EMP's. I feel its only a matter of time before the earth is struck with a solar flare that proves that smaller more complex, and denser electronic design is not always better and makes the devices more sensitive to such a threat for data loss and cooked chips. I own three SSD drives and they are NOT for long term storage, they are for SPEED!the Flash Storage on a SSD drive Is susceptible to EMP. This also why they generally have shielding that creates a faraday cage AROUND the drive, protecting it from any EMP interference; otherwise you could set all the bits of a SSD drive to 1 by holding it above your head while underneath a power line. Magnetic Platter drives are probably more sensitive to Electromagnetic discharge, simply because our Magnetic drives are not inside a faraday cage like construction. This is just a guess, of course. My point is I doubt either one is more susceptible to the behaviour. Honestly I think you have worse "opponents" to your backup strategy than Solar Flares and Malware. The big one being just everyday Hard Drive failure, or things as simple as user error. Quote Again, my main question here is not how you should store this information, but rather culling out what you don't need. Your storage issues seem to stem from a sort of "packrat" attitude. One I can 100% understand, because I have it myself. It seems when I decide to delete a folder or files it doesn't take long for me to realize that I needed them. While I do have tons of old data that is probably not needed such as old DOS games that I haven't executed in years, this data is all in very small files etc, so while the file count is high, the space consumed is around 1GB tops from like 600 floppies. As far as data I created, programs, research, etc its likely less than 1GB. However I do have a digital technical library I created copying webpages for offline use etc and PDF's for later use etc which amounts to about 20GB. I also have programs I purchased online and 1 time download etc over the years with PDF's stored in their folders with the keys/license receipt/ proof of purchase etc that amounts to around 100GB. The vast amount of space I consume is actually digital videos from my wife and I using HD video cameras on vacations, birthdays, sports events, etc which while they have a 16GB SD card in them, they have to be dumped frequently to make room for new videos and pictures. I have about 600GB of family videos. Of which I have deleted the stupid ones and kept the ones worth keeping. My Music CD's I converted to MP3 a while back in the highest quality and that eats up about 120GB and took almost a month to convert my hundreds of music CD's that I acquired from the early 1990s to date. I also have a collection of the many Linux ISO downloads which climbed to as high as almost 350GB of images, and I have since deleted most of the way out dated ISO's like RedHat 6 and Fedora 5 etc and kept the modern images which amount to less than 100GB now, as well as I have about 30GB of Open Source Tools etc that I use at random times depending on what I am working with. I use to have Ghost 2003 and Ghost 8 images on my external, but deleted them when deciding it was best to just go with 1 or 2 DVD-R disks to rebuild a Windows XP system quickly with vs having to mount an external drive with a Ghost Boot Disk etc. So I guess the massive storage needed is mainly due to videos that I dont want to lose, which can not be replaced. I rarely access this data, but have occasionally played some of them to my daughter to show her what she looked like and acted when she was younger etc. KIDS GROW UP TOO FAST! And yes, I have deleted old drivers from a driver collection/hoard I had a while back and found myself digging online researching for the driver for an oddball chipset before, so while its probably junk data that can be purged from storage at some point, I learned that if it doesnt eat up too much space such as 300k, just leave it be in storage..LOL |

Solve : How do I forward e-mail automatically for free.? |

Answer» I don't quite understand all the fuss over FORWARDING. Why don't you just decide on an EMAIL address and use it? If you need to notify your contacts of a change of address, then do that. A paid email service like fastmail.fm (https://www.fastmail.fm/) might be well worth the small annual fee of $4.95 for a Personal account. soybean, you have a GOOD point. It is a business thing, so we should just buy it Yea and never forget to buy the domain name of your business. American chef and TV personality Guy Fieri forgot to buy the domain name of his restaurant, but someone else didn't. Cheeze-gutted wolf meat, a side of maximum -well-done duck skin. Yuck!! |
