Solve : Can only format 1 disk a day????

Answer»

Am trying to BACK up pics and stuff. As I load a DVD+R into the drive it will format it but only 1 a day. As soon as it is done copying files and I go to put another disk in it says it is unable to format disk. So I wait a day and the next morning I can format a disk again...but just one.

Running Windows 7What app are you using to format ? ?I am assuming it is just the one that came with my Dell Inspiron / Windows...nothing special or ANYTHING I have added to the computer. You could DLoad and try CDBurnerXPro......still Free...
It should allow you to format CD's to your hearts content...
Not sure why this problem is occuring though...ok I 'll give it a shot...thanksDrive overheating?

Drive overheating?

Good call Salmon...hadn't considered that.I suspect that an hour or two might be enough in reality but the drive sounds suspect.
I remember when they used to be built pretty well...
These DAYS if i get 2 1/2 years out of an optical burner i feel i'm in the Bonus round...I have got a Sony that is 3 years old and an LG that is 8 years old, both still fine. However a drive that is used for burning many disks will fail sooner, especially if the ventilation is poor.
An older TDK still hums along nicely for me...
A dual layer LG failed on me after 10 months...just this year.
