hey guys - new fellah here - I have a wierd ONE for you - my laptop is apparantly senile now.

The problem started when I was using ubuntu (hardy heron). For no apparant reason and completely at random an auto clicker (I have never installed an auto clicker) starts clicking at random but with rapidly decreasing intervals between clicks. Typing SOMETHING, web browsing, watching a film, etc all become impossible. I was under the impression it WOULD be sorted by re-installing ubuntu, but no. Then I thought it was a problem with ubuntu itself - so I switched back to xp. This didn't work EITHER. I put this to you - is this a fixable problem? Or is my laptop just a big paperweight now?

thanks - garthTry disabling the touch PAD and use an external mouse. The touch pad can usually be turned off with a special button somewhere. It is also common for it to be one of the F keys. Find the one that has a picture of a touch pad and press Fn+F key to turn it off.A great idea would be to Post how this dual-boot system was set up in the first place...
We know so far it has XP and Ubuntu...but how ? ?

A huge thanks to you guys. I took the panel off of it just a little while ago to reseat my RAM, and when I found it, one of them was loose. So all it took was sticking it back in and I'm up and running fine!

I broadcast events, interviews on my laptop(New Toshiba - Windows Vista). I have bought 2 USB microphones, good quailty, good sound. My laptop has 4 USB ports. When I use 1 mic, I have no problems. When I use 2 mics in two seperate USB ports, only the 1st mic will RECORD in my SYSTEM.

Any suggestions?

I have not found a mixer that has 2 USB ports anywhere. I was told a sound CARD might help by some but others say it will not solve this problem.

I could always just BUY regular mic's and mixers but I would rather use the nice things I just bought.

ANyone have any ideas for me...I appriciate it.

I know I am not a regular here, but I hope you can help anyway. As the subject says, I am getting JAGGED edges when I view photographic images in Photoshop CS3 as well as Explorer and other programs. Particularly, they are appearing in PS Bridge preview images. It is especially bad in images where there is transition from light to dark tones. Instead of a smooth transition, I see jagged edges delineating the different tones. THUS far, I have had my graphics card checked by the local PC shop, but not my MONITOR. I have also downloaded all the latest drivers for everything and checked and tweaked all my settings. Nothing seems to work. Also, I have a copy of QUAKE III ARENA (Yes, I still love that game!) and it has suddenly gone dark. Does this sound familiar to anyone out there? Thanks for your time. Cheers, Paul.

The problem is that illegal software almost always has problems, so it's not always possible to help.
From your post you said you've tried starting in safe mode etc, there's no more advice I could give you but perhaps someone else may come along.

What happens if, the moment you turn on the computer, you keep tapping F8.uhm the blue screen thing with some options appear..

i tried to work with it, but no change. dunno what to do about it.....What options...?the headers says its "WINDOWS Advance Options Menu"

the options are:

but whatever options i choose

it just leads me to SAFE MODE..

I've been using a batch file with the following code to copy a file from one location to another :

I now need to be ABLE to copy the file to the same location but change the name to Bacsfile_Date.seq

Any ideas anyone please?if you just need to change the name the command your looking for is 'rename' type Code: [Select] ren [DRIVE:][path]filename1 filename2

My wife is trying to find me a nice MP3 player/eBook reader for Christmas, but we're both having trouble finding what I need. I only have a few preferences/requirements...

I WOULD like the screen to be no smaller than 2.4".

When I WANT to PRINT the screen, I use either the keyboard or the printscreen available through the software application HTE Sunguard. Either way my internet shuts down. It will just click off with no warning or error message.

You are saying 'your internet shuts down' , what exactly happens? Does the internet connection shut down or does your BROWSER shut down(browser like firefox or internet explorer) ?I'm assuming this is a dial-up or some other type of internet connection that is not always on?

If you are using a 3rd PARTY application for this connection, look through the options and/or help file. The Print Screen key may be set up as a hotkey to instantly disconnect from the internet.

I was just wondering if there anyway that i can retrieve some pictures and VIDEOS that were deleted from my laptop but bipassed the recycle BIN as the folders were too big ?

I got an HDTV a couple weeks AGO and I WENT out and bought component cables for my PS2. Everything looks WAY better. I set GT4 to 1080i, but every TIME I restart the console, it resets itself back to 480i. I like to add a new program THATS better then EVERST almost. It works in alot of the same way without haveing to be online when it isnt possible. was downloading some wireless software and I got an error and I shut off the laptop and try to restart it but since then I am having problem turning on the laptop. I turn it on and I hear noise,the noise is regular sound you hear when you turn on your pc or lapt and see green light but after 15 seconds I see a flash on screen and laptop shuts off. I have checked battery and AC adapter. They are OK..



Few days ago on someone's advise to check memory module at the back of laptopn I just opend the cover of Memory module and I took them out and PUT back in but if I press there I guess the chip and power on the laptop the same TIME ,my laptop turns on, I see the bios page but if I take my finger of the memory chip,my laptop stop and if I do that like few times sometime laptop turns on without PRESSING the momoery chip. Some time I kepp the cover open and leave something under the chip so it will be pressed and my laptop stays on for hours. I tried to use some tape there but it did not work.I guess tape was not strong enough to keep pressed.

Is there a way I can fix this? if I buy new memory module, whould that solve the problem?

I don't know much about the computers. Can I fix this problem without spending too much money?

Can someone help me with that?

I've spent ages COMPOSING an e-mail on my Hotmail account and (because Hotmail only spell-checks the first 2000 characters) I wanted to copy it to a work document to spell check. I'd usually, simply select, click Cntrl+C to copy, then Ctrl+V to paste. By mistake, I selected it all and pressed Ctrl+V and it's disappeared. Ther's no undo function, so is there any possibilty to retrieve it, or is it lost altogether? CTRL + Z to undo?

Not sure if Hotmail does this or not, but does it save any draft messages?I've tried Ctrl+Z and nothing happens. It doesn't show (ie in bold) that there's a message in my drafts folder, but if I try to look I then have to navigate away from the page and that keeps telling me the message hasn't been sent and will be lost.

I'm gutted. It was a huge long mail and I can't possibly remember all that was in it.Are you sure you've clicked in the text area and press CTRL + Z?

i have an Acer Aspire 9920g, there allegedly 'top of the range' model.' It's running on Windows Vista Ultimate, but even with 4gb of RAM, it's still slow.
The main problem however, is when i try to play a game, in particular STALKER Clear Sky. I can install the game, but when i try to play it, it comes up with a warning 'please insert original disc' even though the original disc is already inserted!
I've exchanged the game 3 times now and also sent my laptop back for a 'repair' which im not sure they did cause im still getting the same warning!
I have a pc aswell, which is only a basic pc, running on XP and that loads the game ok, even though playing it is a bit useless cause the pc's not man enough.
I have no idea what to do now, any help would be greatly appreciated,

according to everything ive looked at, the game should play fine.
i had a problems with almost every game ive tried, the first stalker kept crashing, and some of the other games just wouldnt play, even though i met the minimum system requirements. i just put it down to they were for xp and im on vista>Quick question, is this the real version of Vista and not a copy?yeah, its the real version, its Vista Ultimate. At least i hope it's the real version, it came with the laptop the exact warning it comes up with is :-

Check either Acer's website or the individual component manufacturer's websites for updated drivers. An easier, but less likely to work, solution would be to run Windows Update and look for updated WHQL certified drivers for your CHIPSET, video card, etc..

Faulty drivers are the first thing I would suspect. Follow that up with Windows Update patches for Vista. Check, DOUBLE check, and triple check Acer's website for new troubleshooting information on your laptop.

As for the "Insert Original Disc" error, if the game is protected with StarForce, make sure the helper service is still running (check services.msc).whats starforce and how do i check the helper service thing (and what is it, never heard of it )

I have an epson R1900 printer but when I try to print 6"x4" (100x150) photos they are cropped. Can anyone tell me if there is a printer that does not crop. HP tell me none of their printers crop but my son's printer did. Epson tell me there are no printers that will print 6"x4" without cropping. Wht is the truth?
Odd indeed!!

My approach for this size is to set up my image in my image app' (Micrografx Picture Publisher) and make sure my PPI suits the physical size I want to put on a sheet of paper. If the inches size of an image is set right then it will have to be smaller than the sheet size - either for portrait or landscape PRINTING .. and so take into account the default margin ALLOWANCE - but with portrait setting, the 6" should FIT fine with room to spare.

I don't think any printer should crop - if the ''physical'' size of an image is set up right relevant to its PPI. If pic is 72 PPI then 432 pixels in horizontal will be the limit ..... but of course if 300 PPI then 1800 pixels will be horizontal pixel size to print 6".

I used to use Epson for ages but now use Canon Pixma - main thing should be the deep dig into properties of printer and setting to suit image and/or, prep'ing image right INITIALLY. If despite this you get cropping then something sure ain't right!

Strikes me Epson is spouting BS if they say no printer will do 6x4 without cropping !! Sheesh.thankyou very much ChrisNot all printers will print to the very edge of the paper, if that is what hbrown is ASKING. Many printers will leave a white border around the edge of the image area. My Canon will do borderless printing, but only at certain paper sizes (6x4 is one) and you have to specially set it in the printer options when you go to print the picture.

This is what i get sent back from Mailer-Daemon. They all use to go through before, now every week I'm getting more and more sent back.

Most e-mails I forward don't have attachments.

It happens when I forward mail or when I send regular e-mail.

I know it happens on my AOL all the time. I never forward or send anything through Yahoo. I can try Yahoo and see if it happens there too if you like.

Go ahead and try Yahoo and see if you get any similar error. If not, the first thing I would do is contact AOL and see if they can help you track down the problem, as it might be on their end or with their SOFTWARE. Let us know how it goes.

Hi all im new to computers and i have a file STORED on a memory pen? and i need to transfer it to another memory pen on my computer how do i do this? thanksI am really amazed that you can't work this out for yourself. Put 1 memory stick in a USB socket. Put the other memory stick in another usb socket. Open Windows Explorer and find the file and then copy or move the file across.
still not managed to transfer it yet.? What's the problem?
Should be as simple as copying the file from one memory stick over to the other one.

I'm in the mood for a new keyboard, but I'm very picky (nothing curved; nothing that doesn't use the standard US setup) and I'd like to have something interesting. Is anyone aware of any OLED KEYBOARDS like Optimus MAXIMUS, but...you know, about $1800 cheaper? I know Apple was planning on coming out with one, but I haven't heard much about that lately, nor do I know if it was meant to be Windows-compatible at all. And does anyone know if there are any eInk keyboards out on the market?

Ok never mind. I cleared my cache and it fixed itself.... It's just when IMAGES don't load, I've SEEN it before when CH is overloaded or my connection is dodgy.But all CH PAGES were LIKE that. Problem fixed now.

Easiest thing to do would be write down the e-mail address and compose a new e-mail through Gmail and contact them that way. Or highlight their e-mail address and copy/paste the e-mail address into Gmail under composing a new e-mail to them.

The proper modern way to receive contact from customers etc VIA a webpage these days is by using PHP, or Perl etc server side and the mailto happens at the webserver side to the recipient of the web pages e-mail box through form data. Anyone wishing to make contact with the owner of the website would only need a browser to do so by entering information into a HTML Form and clicking submit. The owner of the website should really modernize if its a business website.

There is a configuration option under Internet Explorer to specify the handling program for e-mail under TOOLS -> Internet Options -> Programs , where you can alter this setting. But I wouldnt adjust this unless you really need to.Most modern browsers (such as Firefox) allow you to CHOOSE to open up a specific program or a specific website to handle MAILTO links.

About 14 years AGO I had normal vision and was proficient in computer programming and other skills. Losing my sight in one eye has made me unable to drive a car not use a computer without some additional tools.
Windows has a magnifier. Let me shew you why it is of limited help.

Please view the image at normal size. Do you see what I mean? The font for the error message bis a mediocre system font that is very hard to read for anybody. Blow it up with the magnifier and it looks like garbage. The image is from Windows XP on a laptop screen at 1280 by 768.

Also, notice that this is from a program that is OFTEN sold to people with low vision or poor typing skills. Manly, Dragon Naturally Speaking. You would think they would at least try a little harder ton improve on Microsoft by making error messages that make use of the fonts available in Windows.
To make matters worse. the same font is loused on the training exercise with not provision to use a better font and size. Which is inexcusable for a productivity program. So FAR, I have not been able to start using this version of Dragon Naturally Speaking.

It is version 11. I had version 10 before. I was hoping it would be an improvement. The training portion is the same as it was before. Which means I will have to print out and partially temporize the script before I can finish the training. that is no fun at all.

BTW. Windows 7 takes ALMOST no training. This is on my XP machine.

when data write on dvd let say 1 gb and dvd has size of 4 gb, 3GB remains empty.
when open properties of dvd, there shows USED 1 GB, FREE 3GB.

after some month empty 3 gb free space damaged and not able to store any data on it.

recover 3 gb empty space to add more file on dvd.
If the DVD is damaged then it is no longer writeable and no more files can be added.
Also depending on what method is used if a DVD is "finalised" it can not be added to either...

I was hit up with a question today from a truck driver who occasionally gets free wifi hotspots to connect to, but sometimes he is without internet access. I was asked if it was possible to set up his laptop with the ability to link to an open wifi connection and get an updated copy of yahoo, cnn, and a few other news websites for offline browsing, so that when he is connected to a hotspot his system is updating with latest news articles etc automatically or VIA a 1 click solution.

I told him that I would have to get back to him on this as for its going to require a routine to go out and fetch the information. I told him that normally you can setup your offline cache on your browser to save a copy of pages viewed and it saves them as they are accessed with newest info, but what he is asking for is an ability to for lack of better terms ( to dock ) the laptop to the open wifi and get all latest updates for a LIST of news websites without visiting each and every website while squatting at a wifi hotspot location.

I was thinking HTTRACK, but that would require navigating to the folder where a website was copied to. Was also thinking about making a batch file that would execute internet explorer and point directly to websites that he wanted cached copies of such as a list of ...

To update the browsers cache, but this is a very ugly method as for his system would not be able to be used for anything else while this is happening because the browser windows would be opening and after a period of sleep timer to allow for the website to load certain pages kill the browser window etc and repeat for other sites.

To fetch the latest information of specific pages, but this list would be very lengthy and due to just about all news websites having dynamic paths that are always changing on a daily basis this wouldnt work out so well, which points me back in the direction of HTTRACK which can crawl a URL path in SEARCH for other paths etc, so that you could point it to http://news.yahoo.com/ and it will find all articles/paths from that location and you can designate how many levels in to create a cached copy of.

Anyone have any suggestions, and is HTTRACK the only solution for him?

I tried downloading a trial version of SONAR X1 from Cnet. It was a large file of over 600MB. I was unable to get it to install but it did install a search bar and other .exe which I do not need. Just signed up today. I have a printer DRIVER problem. I lost my printer driver from a Toshiba Laptop with Windows Vista and a Epson All in One printer. I am set up on WI-FI. Can't even PRINT with a USB connection. I cannot print on this printer from the Toshiba. Have tried every site I could find within the Toshiba and cannot find anything that SAYS there is an error with the driver or is missing the driver.
I have the CD-ROMS and instruction booklets for both printer and Toshiba but they are of no help. I KNOW it is not a printer problem because I also have a Macbook and THRU WI-FI I can print on the Epson. But not from the Toshiba laptop. Please keep replies simple. I am not an expert.

Got talking with a coworker about old computers and I brought up that I had a large Everex Desktop computer that had a YELLOW matrix display by the Power and HDD LED on an Everex Desktop computer with a 80386 DX 25Mhz CPU. Told my coworker friend about upgrading from Windows 3.11 to 95 and running Windows 95 on it with 8MB RAM and the large hard drive inside was making all sorts of NOISES as if it was struggling to keep up seeking data and the matrix display on the front of it was showing C:> and what looked like all the sectors or tracks it was reading from.

When formatting a FLOPPY disk I remember seeing displayed ( A:> x ) where x = 1 thru 80 for the tracks as it was formatting.

Does anyone know what the purpose of this matrix display was for? Did it really matter to see what drive and track was being accessed etc or was it just a marketing feature to display how much more superior this computer was over the competition in which both computers were the same speed, but this one must be better because it shows drive activity on an alpha matrix vfd?

While it looked cool from a bling factor, I just never saw the point in its purpose to have been designed into the computer.

I read an article about thermal paste and realized I used way too much on my CPU.

I had to pry the heatsink off because it was stuck to the processor.

Applied a small amount of paste, and now my idle temperature is 23 Celsius.

From 45 with the cheap stuff, to 38 improperly applied, to 23. I am truly amazed.

Tip: Instead of covering your CPU with thermal paste, only apply a tiny amount to the center of the chip.

My wife asked me if I could GET the Free Hulu on our TV as for there are shows there that she likes to watch on the free service and we are already paying for Netflix. I have a Sony BluRay player that is web-ready and it has a menu system pre-programmed by sony for about 20 different websites/ Streaming content providers. But it doesnt allow you to navigate away from the preprogrammed paths. So she wants to watch the free Hulu on the TV vs her small computer screen and the BluRay player only supports viewing through the paid Hulu Plus ACCOUNT service.

She has a laptop that is able to play VIDEOS with no problems and I found this device linked below that I am going to try with it. This way she can SELECT what she wants to watch on the TV using the laptop and then set the laptop off to the side and watch the FREE Hulu site that one of her favorite shows is on.

I am actually surprised that its only $25 and able to merge VGA and Audio to HDMI and screen resolution shouldnt be too bad for the 34" flatscreen TV that can take the HDMI Audio/Video input. I dont expect super high quality out of VGA converted to HDMI, but hopefully it wont lag with video content and blur etc.

have a spreadsheet with a DB file (sheet) named "Students". On it is a list of student ID#, Lname, FName and Grade. I also have a second (sheet) named "Skipped", where I want to input the student ID#,manually and have the computer do the look up of the student name and grade and input those values from the "Students" sheet into the proper fields on the "Skipped" sheet.

I am attaching a short sample of each sheet, along with formula I have been trying to use to get the look up of the name portion. Once I have the name lookup portion figured out, I should be able to get the grade part to work as well. If anyone can help me FIGURE out what my formula should be, I would appreciate it. Thank you.

I hear talk about people being very successful at online businesses and they are not scams. However, when I have looked I can't find any that don't cost anything to start up. Is the only way to make a good income online is start a blog/website or call centers? It just seems like there's this big secret that no one is letting me on.
Please note that I am already a member of enough GPT sites. I keep thinking about making a website but I don't think I'd be any good at it. For one thing I wouldn't know how to generate people to the site. I can't even generate people to the GPT sites (the few times I have got referrals they did not follow through. I don't understand it. There are far too many pyramid schemes and sites out there that want your money, but dont guarantee anything. Doing a google search, the first 80 pages in the search are likely these schemes fishing for someone to buy into with false promises.


I have run a few businesses in my lifetime. "Every time" I ran a start up business scheme that was someone elses business model it failed, and almost every time I ran my own, it was a success.

A business not of my own is best summarized by my experience with Amway. Where there were required commitments where you have to buy into the idea and PRODUCT line and then try to find people to buy this junk. If you were able to sell this idea to others and the others found people to buy this junk, then you would receive a percentage of the sales of those below you in this pyramid scheme. The furthest I made it was 8 people under me, and the biggest problem I had was no time to really sell the stuff on my own as for I was trying to help those below me sell through them to retain them and form the building blocks so that I could remain on top and receive the percentage entitled to me based on the pyramid structure. But this scheme just plainly stinks, its originally designed to reward members by building the pyramid and tap into the sales of those below yourself as for the time invested in training the people and supporting them if suppose to be rewarded as a percentage of their sales, but personally I started to feel like I was trying to sell people on a false dream almost as if it was a legal con scheme and retain people to avoid the collapse of the pyramid. I then threw in the towel on Amway. ( Some people are obviously successful with it, or it wouldnt exist, but not me. )

Businesses that I started that were successful ( for 5 years ) Online were buying and selling collectables on ebay. This started out just to make some spare cash, but then turned into making thousands of dollars buying low and selling higher. I was able to find collectables at yard sales, stores that sold collectables that didnt know what they had or had it priced too cheap, as well as was buying collectables privately to sell on ebay. Buying privately I required valid ID and documented everything because my biggest fear in this business was people looking to unload stolen items cheap and have you get cought holding the bag unknowingly selling hot items. I only had one person contact me and then pull out when I required ID and written documentation. They backed out stating that they didnt want a paper trail and it was because they didnt want to have to pay taxes. I told them sorry charlie, I wont do business with you if you wont verify legal ownership with valid ID etc.

I ALSO was buying old 1970s and early 1980s hand held games cheap broken, and fixing them and selling them for good money such as the VFD Mini Arcades for Donkey Kong, Pac Man, MS Pac-Man, Galaxian, and others in which I would take a dead game and fix it using my electronics knowledge, clean it up to as perfect as I can get it, some were dinged up by years of abuse, and then sell them from $40 to $200. One of which was battered but worked and another was dead but like new. I swapped the electronic guts to have a working like new unit and made almost $200 on that one since I also had the original box, so it was an original with original box in mint condition, but with working good guts from a battered arcade that worked but EVERYONE turned their NOSES up at its condition.

The downfall of this online business was not the business really as for it was booming, but my lack of dedication to it. I had a child in 2004 and put a lot of stuff on hold to make my child my #1 priority. Since then though sources of collectables to buy inexpensively to make quick profits have dried up some. A collectable dealer retired and I was able to buy a bunch through him in bulk and mark it up to resell for its full worth on ebay. It was good because both of us were making money by him selling stuff quickly in volume and me taking the time to list it all on ebay and make the profit in the difference between the purchase price and sale price - advertising expenses ( ebays cut etc ).

Today my business is mainly my services. I work for the government as an electronics tech, and on the side in my free time, I will help people with computer problems, but I am not looking for business, the business I already established with clients keep me plenty busy for extra income. At one point in the past I did try to run the computer repair business and live off of just that income and there were lots of periods of Feast and Famine, tons of work and then it dries up because everyone is happy and has no more work for you. *The other issue with keeping peoples computers working well and getting paid for it because I work on them and build them up so well is that I only make money when they need help, and that is because my clients are smart and dont download and infect themselves regularly etc, and computers are extremely reliable if well cared for, so 18 months or longer can go by before I hear word from a client that they want me to work on their system. When I advertised myself it was Feast and Famine, and sometimes you felt like you were being force fead work and working 15+ hrs day to make deadlines or having to call a client to see if its ok to deliver a day later than the agreed completion date is not a good thing, and you cant hire help to take the stress off during the times of thriving with tons of work because you will have to pay their salaries when there is no work to be done. Its not so bad if you jip yourself running your own business and say well I only made $150 this week and need to make 4x that, maybe next week will be a better week, but having to pay help a hourly wage during a time like this is very painful for a business owner and it can put you in the red very quickly since you also have other expenses in addition to their hourly wage that you are legally commited to.

So out of all this ... the best advice I can give is to ignore all the businesses out there that want money to start a business. Start your own, and learn from mistakes and dont give up if its really what you want to do. Read lots of books on starting a home business etc as well and see if there are any local workshops etc on how to start your own business (which is starting "YOUR" own business and not "Their" business. )

I went to a SCORE workshop which was advertised by my local bank. I paid $20 and sat in on a meeting in which successful business owners shared their time to assist others with how to start up their own business. At the time when I went in 2001, I was actually the only one there getting advice on starting and online business, others there were wanting to start a businesses that were physical labor and stores etc, but I got my $20 worth. Good Luck with your Online Business. If you have something that people want and can compete and make a profit and can be happy doing it, you will make money and will be successful. You just need to find a nich that works. You cant just say for example, not meaning you, I am going to start up and Online Crayon Business and sell my own colors of crayons and have it be successful. There are lots of factors to look at, and it all starts with writing up a business plan and performing lots of research before investing any money and commiting to a business idea to make sure that the idea you have is one that is viable and your odds of FAILURE are less than your odds of success. Only about 1 in 5 businesses make it as I was told in the Score workshop. Thats only 20% success, and lots of money 80% of the people out there sink into failures. But dont let this keep you from trying, you could be the 1 in 5 that is successful, and the odds are in your favor if you control the outcome by lots of hard work.

For me the ebay business was instant success because I tapped into the advertising and popularity of this online tool. If I tried to sell through my own private website it would have been failure without lots of money invested in trying to get my business name out and getting people to visit and buy my products. Just think of the millions if not billions of websites out there that we haven't seen and may never see in our lifetime that are trying to sell something among the noise of the others out there. Ebay was the perfect tool to connect my items for sale with the world since I sold worldwide.

I'm having major problems with Realplayer downloading from Youtube. Sometimes it WORKS but usually not. Seems to make no difference what the download. The download button appears on mouse over, I click on that and everything starts like normal with the bar showing progress but when it's finished the little icon for the video is only a grey square with an arrow in it and not the small picture as when it does work. If you click on the grey icon realplayer opens and the counter starts but there's nothing happening video or sound. I've uninstalled and reinstalled several times at the list from 'computer uninstall/change and from C:program/common files/realplayer. I've checked many times in tools and manage add ons to see it's enabled. I tried using Firefox and what a joke that is. Talk about dead ends! Spent a couple HOURS on that. I've had problems with RP downloading from YT in the past and SEEMED to work it out eventually but this time seems WORSE. I've also restored the computer to an earlier date. I tried downloading a totally different video capture program and it was full of nasties. Youtube support is useless as they only say it's a violation of policy but then why have I been able to download things for years but now only once in a while? They could be blocking but I'm not so sure of that. I've tried a couple times to download from other places but I don't remember how well it worked. I'll try again. I use the videos for drums and guitar practice so I can SKIP to any point without the buffering. I can download the sound using other programs but it's not as good as having the video. I've also made sure all defaults are set for Realplayer.

Thanks for your reply I will CHECK it. Since I posted my question I have found several places that will let me download Basic. I have not had time to check any of them but I will. I need to find a compiler to run my programs. Thanks again. Bob
