He is having a "problem" with someone but needs to have proof for the police to do anything about it, he has the GUYS IP address but (IPs can be changed) also needs something that shows this persons address so he can turn it over to the police and actually do something about this person. So does anyone know of a site that this can be gotten or to use this persons IP address to find his actual address. Anyway this is something serious so any help is appreciated.I am afraid an IP address cannot help you find someone's address. What is this serious problem? Perhaps we can direct you to someone that MAY be better and well-suited than the police in this case?Some websites will allow you to do what's called a "Visual Traceroute". This will help you figure out where in the world they are (in general). If it is a very serious issue, you COULD possibly hand the IP address over to the police. If the police believe the crime is severe enough, they should be able to ask the Internet Service Provider (ISP) who is associated with that range of IP addresses to release information about who has or had that IP lease at that time. As a word of caution, the police will be very mad at you if you give them an IP address and say "Arrest them! They called me a doo-doo head on the internet." (The moral of the story being that you will be in trouble if the police feel you are wasting their time.) They won't be mad cuz as said already talked to the police about it some, but they NEED proof and it is much more serious than someone calling someone else a "doo-doo head" as you said.
