I am using my computer several hours daily.
I usually visit video sites also.
There was no problem until today

Today when I visit youtube.com or other video sites, I am not gettting the movie portion in the page.

In all video sites, the below GIVEN message is SHOWN.

"Hello, you either have JavaScript turned off or an old version of Adobe's Flash Player. Get the latest Flash player".

1. I installed Adobe Flash Payer several times by clicking the link in the message.
2. I enabled JavaScript again as in the directions in the page http://www.google.com/support/bin/answer.py?answer=23852

But STILL I can't view the videos! The old message again displayed!

I haven't done any major software installation or Virus/Spyware scaning or deleting any system files in my computer today.

Will you please suggest me a remedy?

For some reason my laptop is running about 800MB of Memory constantly. The THING thats using the most is something called
"S24EvMon.exe"
and its SAYING that is a system file. Its using about 350 to 400 MB of Memory constantly alone! What is that? Can I take it off?It's for your wireless network connectivity for that laptop...

What problems are you having that have you looking at running PROCESSES ? ?Well, I have a gig and a 1/2 of memory and the other day when I was running maybe 3 or so programs (music, dreamweaver, and microsoft office word). it said Virtual Memory low. I dont think those 3 should be taking up that much space. So I looked and seen that. So today. I was doing something with my Zune and it froze so I went to my TASK Manager to end the task and figured id look and see if that was there and it was taking that much memory!

i have just been doing some house cleaning on my computer i uninstalled a few things and stuff. on one of them it told me to restart the computer so i did then when i logged on it said it wanted me to change to loading normal drivers then the window that pops up the same window that you get when you type in msconfig into the run command in your start MENU. so i put it back at normal settings... then i restarted it again and it wouldnt get past this screen




then after a few seconds it would change a little

see how it gets a little brighter thats not just the camera

i put it on safe mode and putting it back on the setting i had before but it did the same thing >.>You mean, it won't GO beyond the above screen?yep

Maybe you uninstalled something what was needed.

What did you un-install when housecleaning ? ?
Best approach right now is to re-boot and let it sit and think for awhile...grab a coffee...go shopping.
If after a long while it isn't booted properly more drastic measures MAY be needed.

Eventually you are going to need a Windows CD regardless....well ive let it sit and think for awhile already

I currently have an .iso for a BartPE image to burn to disc and I want to add a program or a .ini file or what ever it is i need to get certain programs within BarPE to load up once the actual BartPE program is running. For instance once the BartPE has loaded I am required to run a command prompt to map a network drive and once that is done I must have it run LIST_USER_PROFILES.BAT. What kind of program do I need to add to that .iso in order for it to do that so I don't have to fumble through all the menus to locate it and run it? Any help would be greatly appreciated.There are complete instructions at Bart's site for adding additional programs/drivers etc.....
Most times it involves a plugin which are provided there as well.You can use an external drive to run your programs, once Bart PE from your ISO is loaded. You would need the USB plugin. For instance, I have run my back up image (USING the free XML Driveimage, and with the required plug in for BartPe) of my entire PC from a external drive.

You should be able to do something similar, assuming the required programs/plugins, etc, exist for BartPE...I'm not trying to run any programs externally...the programs I'm trying to run are within the image of BartPE already. Once BartPE is up and running the GO WINDOW appears in the bottom left corner and I click on it and the first program I have to run is the GO>System>Network>Load Network Support (DHCP/auto) then once that is done I have to run the Command Prompt(CMD) to use the NET USE command to map the drive to a local computer that has images already stored on it. Next is the GO>Programs>A43 File Management Utility>LIST_USER_PROFILES.BAT program. Once that is done then I must run the program Ghost32 under GO>Programs>Symantec Ghost>Ghost32. I'm trying to get the first program to run automatically since I have to do that everytime I load BartPE anyway. Then once that is done I'm trying to get the Command Prompt to run and I have to TYPE in info and once that info has been typed in I'm trying to have it autmatically run the LIST_USER_PROFILES.BAT program. All of these programs are located on the BartPE DISK I have CREATED...its just a pain to have to go through all the sub menus just to get to some of these and I'm trying to save time. I have it on a bootable pen drive for convenience & so I can add things like bookmarks and portable apps. I changed the awful wallpaper to something I liked more. When I try to install WARCRAFT III nothing happens. When I DOUBLE click the icon in My Computer a black box appears on my SCREEN for about a second, then nothing happens. I've tried restarting my computer and taking the disk out and putting it back in, nothing seems to work. I know it's not the disk because I tried installing it on another computer and it works fine.

Just now when I switched on my COMPUTER, the thing that flashes before WINDOWS begins to load CAME up(That thing with the name of the makers of the comp etc), but It just froze like that, TWICE I restarted but windows would not load , so then I Tapped at F8 key and then I chose escape from the options that came up and then windows started up.

Can anyone tell what this COULD be.Did you try to restart again?I restarted twice....and it keeps freezing at your computer manufacturer logo?It did that only once.I wouldn't worry about it, then.If Broni won't worry then Ivy won't worry either.

I have been a user of IBM ViaVoice 10Pro for MANY years. Last week I downloaded a program called 'cryptainer' which is SUPPOSED to Password Protect Folders as well as single FILES. I could not get this to work properly and my ViaVoice KEPT crashing. Having uninstalled the program and tried system restore, ViaVoice still crashes if any internet browser windows are open. Have you got any idea as to why this should happen and what the solution is or who I should ask please? I know from bitter experience that IBM are totally disinterested in consumer's problems.
You may want to check the cryptainer site to see if it was un-installed properly...this may be the issue with ViaVoice.Many thanks. There is very comprehensive uninstall advice on the website. It is necessary to delete an extra file which is not removed by the uninstall programme. I have done that and it seems to have SOLVED the problem..
The website is very impressive and I would think that for those who can use them, the programs are probably good as welThat is indeed good news...does this mean ViaVoice is back in action ? ?

Does anyone know how to fix the registry after this program has been run (Ccleanerv2.05.). The ikons that are usualy in the the right side of the desktop do not boot up right after running this program. Sys RESTORE does not help and have CHECKED Hi-jack This, nothing unusual..unless I missed something.

JayDid you make a back up of the registry? It should have prompted you too.yes but its 3 days old and I cant go back PAST the 4th after sys restore changed MO's. mine ALWAYS drops the previous month, "should have fix that by now, if it can be".

The registry backups CCleaner creates are not system restore points. They're .reg files you save somewhere on your hard drive. All you need to do, to restore one of these backups is to double click the backup and choose Yes in the dialog that pops up.Thanks!

seems like something went WRONG with my photoshop as I FORMATTED my
computer. Now when I try to start it it just says:

Well, I didn't actually break all of it.
Just the keying feature which allows me to save and close by using the alt + s keys. This feature used to work on tasks, email, calander items - never didwork for notes but notes is a diff animal...
The only thing I changed were the forms which now open in tasks folders (cntrol + n)and I customized the current view.
Now to close a task I have to use the mouse or (alt+f+c, then answer yes.. lots of work. )
Any clues?

I had removed the Standard tool bar (View/Toolbars/Standard) and although I could see/feel the big block of emptiness it created at the top of every outlook page - I didn't realize its inherent power - or my inherent ineptitude...

CHANGING the view to again include the standard toolbar has returned this keypad shortcuts to me.

Yes, alt did select the upper CONTROLS but there was no save and close option - only save, save as, etc.

I have been reading all over the internet about how to use a downloaded font (Mine come from Dafont.com) in the Gimp program. Mainly Ive read to simply place the unzipped file into your windows font folder.
Now Ive DONE that with numerous different fonts, and I cannot get them to show up in Gimp.
I've been able to use downloaded gimp brushes by PUTTING them straight into the gimp program files for brushes.
Ive tried refreshing my gimp text WINDOW as well, I can't seem to get it to work.

When I am on amazon.co.uk or .COM web page i am fine. But the problem is when i need to go BACK by clicking back button. I have to click 2 or 3 times to go back page from the same web site. Is there any SOLUATION for that please.try the ALT + left arrow on your keyboard...if it still does it then it may be the webpage itself...Have you installed anything to do with your host file? If you did than the reason you are clicking is its reading the location of the ad sites as your computer. You can see if this is right by watching the left cornor and see if it says SOMETHING like connecting to 127.0.0.1 when you are back clicking.

somehow I have lost print spooler in windows xp sp2.
It will not START manually so I have no idea what to do. it does not list as running in task manager and I can find nowhere in the registry that it starts.
Running it from the COMMAND line neither starts it nor produces any error message.

any hintsRight click My Computer and open Manage. Than look at the bottom of the window for Services and Applications and click on it. When its open look for Services and click on it. A list will show up in the right side of the window. Look for the print spooler there and double click it. You WANT to change it to automatic and than click the button to start it. You should SEE the status change to started when you are done.

Thanks. when I found the AREA you spoke off the print spooler was set for auto, the fix was in the list of dependencies, at some point in history I have thrown away an old lexmark printer. in my enthusiasm to tidy up I disables lexbce.... apparently that was a mistake..

Can anyone recommend a few VRO dvd converters (other than the one from AVS)? I WOULD like to convert VRO files into WMV files.

If anyone has seen my other recent posting, I've been having problems with installing the one from AVS and so would like to try other ones.

Good luckI tried searching for them too, but the majority will convert VOB but not VRO. There are also a couple of software that will convert VRO to VOB, and so I suppose I could get the VRO to VOB program and then the VOB to WMV software.

In any case, I also experimented with the iSofter Platinum (the one you have there) a few months ago (as with the one from AVS). The problem with these software seem to be that they don’t uninstall cleanly. So later when you go back to downloading them and re-installing them, they just can’t be installed again. Any advice? And thank you very much! Why would they need to be un-installed/re-installed ? ?
If you're looking for ways around Trial periods or liscensing procedures you are in the wrong place.oh no, i'm not doing anything illegal what happened was that at the end of last year, i was trying to convert some .vro files into .wmv files. i went on the internet and downloaded a few software. however, after i used them, i uninstalled them. now, a week or so ago, i tried to download and install them again but they just can't be installed because somehow the old downloads from last year (even though uninstalled and deleted) won't permit it. i actually purchased the one from AVS over a week ago since the trial one worked well (last year). however, it cannot be installed again. i am hoping that they give me a refund...but whatever. I still haven't found another .vro converter as yet, but I have another question.

I recorded some TV shows on DVDs. On each of my DVDs, I have two separately recorded PROGRAMS. I have been trying to copy them onto my computer, but I can only get the first program on.

My computer can't seem to pick up the second recording.

Does anyone know how I would go about transferring my second recording onto my computer?

How do I go about cleaning my registry?

The .vro files are TV shows I recorded with my DVD recorder. The common file is VOB but mine happens to record in VRO.

hey, thanks spoiler. i've already checked out the isofter platinum. i haven't been able to install it either. some of these converters i've already installed some time last year onto my computer (uninstalled them after i tested them) but haven't been able to reinstall them this time around. i don't think the graphics converter pro converts video files. there really aren't too many .vro converters around. the avs and the isofter seem to be the most common ones on the internet.

anyway, if anyone else is experiencing problems with installing the avs and isofter. they can actually try the prism video converter. it doesn't actually support .vro files but it still managed to convert them. however, lots of experimentation is needed to get the settings right for an okay output.

Windows needs to call on certain files to work in a normal quick manner. Continually cleaning these files slows it down.

Can someone please tell me what systems restore REALLY does fix? First I hear it only fixes the dll issues and now I hear it also fixes programs and hardware? System Restore deals only with system (WINDOWS) files. It doesn't fix programs, or hardware. It won't MESS up your data, either.

I'm new here but not to computers, having had a love/hate relationship for years. I guess I'm an intermediate user by now but I'm no expert by any means.

I have been having this problem for quite some time now and I would really like to solve it if possible. I was told a while ago that since this is a desktop, I should just shut down instead of using standby since "desktop SYSTEM hardware is really not designed to use Standby like a laptop is. " I don't quite BELIEVE this since I'd used standby with no problems for more than a year. Unfortunately it's been so long that I don't remember if I changed anything to cause this.

What happens is that Standby works normally one time and then when I power up and try to go to standby again, it will go through all the motions, the monitor shuts off but when it beeps, instead of the power supply powering off, it just keeps running and is unresponsive to any key strokes. I have to hold the power button for 4 secs to shut the system down. Then when I power up and start Windows, I can then go to Standby. And the cycle repeats and will happen every other time. When Standby does work and the COMPUTER resumes, I get the message that Windows is shutting down even though it's starting up. Everything else is normal though but then the next time I go to Standby, it will fail again as described.

If I had a wrong setting, why would it only happen every other session and not all the time? And it's very regular. It has alternated like this consistently for several months now. I thought I could live with this and will if I have to but every now and then I take a shot at fixing it. Hopefully SOMEONE here can at least steer me in the right direction. What's making this difficult to search for is the fact that it alternates. I have no idea where to look because of that.

I don't use it.As Broni stated this is an ongoing problem with Microsoft. You can go to Microsoft home page and in search type in "Standby Problems" and find a basket full of various problems. I don't use it either, but my wife wants in on her computer. I solved her problem with this: click control panel, click power options, set turn off monitor to 30 minutes, turn off hard disks never, system standby 30 minutes, hibernate never, click OK. So far standby working OK.Wow thanks for the quick replies!

I didn't realize that it was widespread and that many don't use standby. I really like the convenience. The main problem with not using standby is that I'm on and off line most of the time and it's nice to just hit a button and have the system power up without waiting for the startup process to complete several times a day.

My power settings had 5 or 6 hours as the max for everything with hibernate enabled. I changed them to what you suggested and restarted but no difference. I guess the main question I have is why it fails every other time. It's like it's on some odd loop. Quote

I own a copy of "widows Vista Home Premium Express Upgrade" on a CD. This was provided to me about 3 months after a purchase of a computer (brand new from a licenced retailer) due to the fact that Vista had not been officially released yet. A condition of the sale was for the eventually provision of a copy of Vista for that computer. Now due to the initial and ongoing bad PR re that operating system i never installed it on the computer it was to be associated with (nor any other). I now have a Dell computer bought used) that has xp-home on it.The other has xp-media center on it. I absolutely do NOT want to install it on the original computer for a number of reasons. In the interest of full disclosure the following phrase is imprinted on the Vista disk "For use only as an upgrade to a qualifying ZT Group Int'l Inc PC". Now i have read other comments on this and other forums and there are a considerable variety of positions on this type of issue covering the full spectrum of possibilities of opinion. I will not debate them here,but others may chose to.I don't even KNOW if the Dell will process the Vista if i were to try it so it all may be a mute point. I would appreciate some views on this issue as to the likelyhood of success should i try it. There is absolutely nothing on the Dell i want to protect or keep. It will perhaps give me a CHANCE to see for myself what Vista is all about without risking any current computer that i have operating and don't desire to risk. Honestly, I don't think it will work, but it all depends on how that disc was made. The one i have (a TOM TOM 1) about 1 year old is still able to get certain updates.Just yesterday by going to the TOM TOM web site home page i downloaded the software for WIN O/S also available for a MAC and you must get that on your computer before you can update via the internet.I was able to update a least 4 separate things,their map updates,user provided corrections and 2 other enhancement items. All of this is free.Also i had a question and called their toll free # w (which is also available through their web site) and received fast ,courteous assistance which did resolve my question. Im assuming you mean its turned on in the Internet Options section of the Security Center?
If so, it may depend on the site you're on.
Lastly... have you closed and reopened your internet browser after turning it on?

WMP will play AVIs, it just depends on how they were encoded. WMP does not come with a DivX codec however, so you'll need to download it.VLC shouldn't need any extra codecs, since all of them are built-in.

I used to be able to enter the date with just the month and day, the year WOULD fill automatically (to current year) unless I typed in a different year. You should be able to right click, save as and save it to the desktop.

Right click on the picture and select COPY. Then GO to a program LIKE Microsoft Word or PAINT and go to Edit, Paste.You can also sign up to photo stock sites, and either purchase (often cheap royalty free photo's) or download free photo's (I use the free Stock.xchng - for one of my web sites, but have to leave a link to the photographer/web site, etc). Strange problem here, I have a laptop that seems to run increadibly slowly if MSN messenger is only installed on it. Older versions cause the WIRELESS to stop functioning properly. The most recent version just seems to make it run slowly. All I can say is what the *censored*?

Sean.Maybe a random name generator, if text based files are suitable for your work...But what size file(s) do you require and would it matter what format? Perhaps you could partition the drive to create a smaller sector/partition for what you want to do, if suitable....Use TrueCrypt (http://www.truecrypt.org/) to create a encrypted volume on your drive. That way you can still use the space, but it will appear used.Thank you for the mention of True crypt, I have used the PROGRAM before but had forgot about it.

Quite awhile ago I made the switch from my old pc that had a 3.5" floppy drive to a pc that doesn't have a floppy drive at all. In prep for this, I took ALL of my games and programs from the floppys and dropped each disk into a separate file.

As of late I've been wanting to play one of my old games, Secret Weapons Of The Luftwaffe (SWOTL). It was a game that had 3 install disks. When I saved the files I saved them as

Now when I run the install.exe from Disk1 Folder, It installs and then requests disk 2, and that's where I can't get any further. All the info is there for it to install but it just doesn't seem to be seeing it.

Any suggestions?when it asks for disc 2 do you not have the option to browse for the source?you could try throwing the files on a FLASH drive. do the first disk first, then delete the files, and copy the second disk, etc., etc. You might have to reassign the letter of the drive in computer MANAGEMENT if the setup program is looking for A:\ specifically.davidoc - Unfortunately it does not give me the option.. it tells me

"please insert disc 2 into drive C: and press any key"

and then dings at me when I hit a button.

I am not good at excel! I need a CELL to RECOGNIZE the code put into a cell and look it up in a vertical list of 50 or so numbers, if it finds a match enter a value from the next column into the original cell. They have a KB article describing 4 methods to fix this but none of them work.
My security settings are already correct despite this error message. I have also tried it with my anti-virus off but , no luck. I use WINXP pro w/service pk2. I use kaspersky anti-virus but that has never interfered before so I don't BELIEVE it has anything to do with why this is happening. any ideas?

It turns out that ( after a few re-starts) one of the following suggestions actually works:

If you want to separate a horizontal line of objects within a cell, you should select a group of cells under the line of objects you want to separate with this horizontal line.

Once you have the group of cells selected, simply use the toolbar to format the group of cells and add a border to the bottom of those cells.

You can use the print preview to see how this looks.

I have not seen an INSTANCE in Excell where you can add a horizontal rule...instead you have to use the process I've described above.

I installed an external cd burner on my win 98se computer. I had problems installing it and I ended up running my recovery disc and then adding an Auto Patch for windows 98 se to get all of the updates installed. My cd burner now works but when I try to download pictures nothing happens. I unistalled and reinstalled my hardware but when I do I get twunk 16 ERROR or vwin 32 error. What happened? I installed the IOMEGA 3teh120152 from a CD. Tonight when I started the computer, I tried to open a game that came with the computer. I got a 0028:co2a2occ VXD VWIN 32 (05) error and then it said module KERNEL32.DLL at 0167:bff7b817 error.
I did a search on this computer for the "twunk 16.exe" file and the "vwin 32.exe" and it shows up but what do I do with it?OK lets start over. What antivirus program do you have? I found a free registry repair scan that found over 200 problems and fixed them. Well most of them. I LET defrag and disc cleanup run afterwords and then rebooted the computer and ran everthing again. I STILL get the same errors.Post EXACT error messages, and WHEN they occur.

I'm not sure if anyone can shed some light on this. Yet I thought I would try. I'm having some trouble with two softwares that I use to burn and rip digital music. One is the premium Real Player the other is J RIVER Media Player. Both are purchased and I have full ACCESS to them. I've noticed that in both softwares, When I set up a CD to burn, by the end of the PROCESS when the CD should be closing out, and then eject after it's done. It doesn't do that. The process seems to hold on. then I start to get a no response MESSAGE. I also once got a second message that says that the software is detecting my CD/DVD/CDR/CDRW drive. I have in both softwares that option of ejecting the CD once the disc is finished. Yet it still holds on. Otherwise than that I can play mp3 and rip them with no problem. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Oh also I have posed this question to the J River Forum and they are no help at all. I haven't done so with Real Player.DLoad and install CDBurnerXPro....

If it's successful and the CD works fine then the issue is with the 2 programs you MENTIONED.....

Click HereYou may have some conflict between Real Player, and J River Media Player. It happens with burning programs. You may try to uninstall one of them.I assume, you're getting some updates for both?
Also, if there was a conflict between those two (overwriting some common files, for instance), after uninstalling Real Player, you may need to reinstall J River.
Running sfc /scannow, may be advisable, as well.

We have several users with Outlook 2000 and 2003 that are missing attachments sometimes. The attachments are not exe or pif or others that would be blocked, but things such as jpegs and pdf documents. Forwarding the message to another user works FINE, and using the Outlook Web Access (Exchange 2007) The attachments show up fine. We do not get the Outlook has blocked this attachment message, nor is there any sign that the attachment is even there. The odd THING is looking at the message properties, it shows that the message is say, 41K, including 1 attachments. So outlook sees the attachment is there, but wont let you do anything with it.

All PCs are running windows XP, and I have done the Outlook and windows updates, and checked that the option for only download messages less than a certain size is turned off.

I wish to copy an Excel chart to a Word DOCUMENT but I want the chart size reduced. I manage to use Zoom in the View menu in Excel to reduce the chart to the right size. I then copy it, go to the Word document and use Paste special, as RECOMMENDED by Help. Running Vista Premium. All OFFICE 2007 programs run through a reconfigure/reinstall cycle before they will open. Once opened, all programs work NORMALLY except Outlook which keeps trying to reconfigure/reinstall each time I send an eMail. It does send & receive email after the reconfig dance. I help out at a local charity, who have a peer to peer network running a debt calculation program. The software is stored on each PC, with the data on a "host" PC and the other machines mapped to it.

On all machines EXCEPT the host, opening a list of active files produces an error MESSAGE - "I/O 103". The PC will then display the first few lines of client data - this should fill the page.

I have STRUGGLED to find any information about I/O 103, or make PROGRESS to resolving this issue. There's nothing odd in the event log, devices are not in conflict and we have re-made the mapping.

Any thoughts/pointers much appreciated.Just a guess but we'd probably need to know what program it is...AH, good point. It's called PGDebt, and here's a link to the program site ...

I have a program that I had installed called Asus Pc Probe. I removed everything from add/remove programs with Asus in its name. When it loads when windows starts I comes up with error windows, Can't excute driver service, can't load asmihwio.dll, can't load asmienum.dll,cant excute driver service, cant load asmihiwo.dll, monitoring dll loading fails, Access violation at address 00000000 Read of address 00000000. I installed crapcleaner to force an UNINSTALL an it doesnt see it.We need more information please as we cannot see your computer.

Well, hello all. Long time.

I'm posting on behalf of a friend, who refuses to POST himself (no idea why). Anyway, his problem is this:

He uses a "MICROSOFT Windows Version 5.1 Build 2600 SERVICE Pack 2" - Windows XP Professional in short. His computer crashes on him randomly recently, and this started when he tried to run some Asian-origin (my guess - counterfeit) videos on his computer. However, I don't think they ran, and now, his computer is acting quite strangly. The problem obviously came from the videos, because that is when the problem started.

On AV/AS etc. stuff, he uses Kaspersky Internet Security 7.0, but no anti-spyware (supposedly Kaspersky does that too...?)

And on the subject of the nature of the crashes:
"Some programs freeze and sometimes on the boot up it stops (i get the bsod for a few seconds) then it restarts"



So, any ideas?
Also, I've told him to run a few AV scans, but then either a. find nothing, or b. crash halfway through (I think they both happen, actually).

Travel to the Virus and Spyware section and Clik This at the top of the page and have him FOLLOW the instructions...
In the meantime he can also remove a side panel and see if all fans are operating properly and it's not too dirty in there...heat is also a common cause of freezing.Ok, thanks patio.


He would do all that you recommended, but... his problem is, his computer crashes half-way through doing all of that stuff. So he can't get very far in the checks and the cleaning.

But, he has cleared out his fans and stuff, and (he has some heat sensors or something) the core temperature has gone down. But the crashing is still there.

And now, he's being stubborn and saying he's going to install Vista. So, any specific advice? If not, I'll keep you posted anyway, on what happens with him.

With all the issues he's having installing Vista would be the last thing i would recommend at this time...Strangely enough, I was also against the idea of him installing Vista. But now.... his problems seem to be fixed

I think he did something more than just install Vista, but whatever he did, it somehow worked.
