Solve : need Outlook Express recovery help?

Answer»
How can I RECOVER my Microsoft Outlook address book and old emails? My old computer (in which I was using the Microsoft Outlook Express) won't power up, but I have the HARD drive that I can connect to ANOTHER computer.

All of my old emails & address book were saved in Outlook Express on the old computer, so I am hoping they are on that hard drive somewhere. With Outlook Express, emails are stored in .dbx files. So, search the hard drive for .dbx files. If your objective is to copy them over to the hard drive in the other computer, create a folder for your emails and copy them to that folder. Then, open OE on that computer, go to Tools, Options, Maintenance, and click on the Store Folder button. In the Store Location dialog box, click on Change, browse to the folder you put the .dbx files in, and click OK. Now, OE should recognize your messages.

To locate your address book on the old hard drive, search for a .wab file. Actually, with the old HD installed as a slave drive, you should be able to open the Address Book on that computer and then import the old .wab file.
