Solve : Trying to turn PDF file into Comma-Delimited file (single file format)? |
Answer» I'm looking for all the help I can get on this. Are the above alternative sources of the data, or what?Yes. I would like to turn that PDF into the Data File. ThanksWell, I think it will be a laborious process but you could copy the text from the PDF to a text file and then import it into Excel. I think it will be a space-delimited file, not comma-delimited. At least, that's what I see based a 3 lines I copied from one of the PDFs. Here are the 3 lines: 12 - 2 1 9 Dec 02 ECHUC 3yo Mdn Plte 5 5/8 f GD 118- 6 Nicholas R 11 - 11 5 30 Nov 02 M.V. 3yo C&G Hcp 5 f YD 114- 6 M Pumpa 7 - 3 4 19 Nov 02 BALL'T 3yo+ Mdn Plte 5 f GD 123- 5 A Findlay Note that this will not be a smooth process due to differences in the 3 rows. For example, the 1ST row has "5 5/8" where the 2nd and 3rd rows have just 5. The 3rd row has a + afater 3yo, while the first 2 rows do not. Such differences will complicate the process of importing and parsing the data into columns. But, I may be mis-interpreting what you want to accomplish here. Must it be a DOS batch file? How much work can be done by hand? How much data must be processed? There are tools that will let you process the data in Exell as a spreadsheet. You can use VBA to edit some material. But it is not batch and esquires some USER interaction. Here is part pf a huge text file I created in a few keystrokes. I think it can be parsed by VBA in Excel. Or something like that. EDIT: To view the attacked file, use notepad and set the font to Courier 8 with no word WRAP. [regaining space - attachment deleted by admin]Quote from: Geek-9pm on November 01, 2011, 04:58:49 PM There are tools that will let you process the data in Exell as a spreadsheet. You can use VBA to edit some material. But it is not batch and esquires some user interaction.I think the test file you posted would not work well. The reason is what I said in my previous post. Parsing a data file in Excel works best when all rows have exactly the same data ELEMENTS, meaning they would all yield the same number of columns when parsed. As I said in my previous post, and as you can see in your test file, there are differences between rows. You also have header rows which complicates the procedure. Right. You can convert it to a nice text file using Foxit Reader. But not all PDF files will allow it. I only TESTED it on one file. http://foxitsoftware.com/downloads/ Not being up to speed with Python, I would use some dialect of MS basic to parse the lines and put then into some form that is more digestible for Excel. Of course, you can parse the text with a batch file, it you like doing that kind of thing. Maybe PowerShell would be a better choice. I think there has to be some user interaction to handle all the exceptions you will get. Otherwise it will be a script with a long list of 'what if' stuff. |

Solve : Rearching multiple PDF files? |
Answer» Hello, I guess there is no "hope"Right, maybe no hope. Here's something that came up from a Google search on ocr searchable pdf: http://www.scantopdf.eu/scantopdf-plugins-ocr.html Don't know whether it could be a viable solution or not. I think you'll have to dig into this deeper yourself. It not something I've ever delved into during my many years of computing and I suspect this is true for a good many other forum members, too. If you think about what it is that you are asking to HAPPEN you would conclude there is no App that can do it...1.Install Acrobat reader 2.use Windows Search, Google desktop, or another desktop search application 3.Profit! 'IFilters' are implementations of a well-defined interface that has been around since the advent of Windows Desktop Search, and they are used by most desktop search applications, including Google desktop. Basically, they allow the search tool to search the content of what would otherwise be a BINARY file, such as a word document, an Excel spreadsheet, or, in this CASE, a PDF document. Note that in order for this to work, the PDF must actually be text; I have seen instances where a PDF is actually comprised of images that are embedded in a PDF, which sort of defeats the purpose, and won't work with IFilter's, either. Adobe has packaged the IFilter implementation in Reader for as long as I can remember. |

Solve : How to overwrite in-game mouse cursor?? |

Answer» Hi all, first time post here. Hope someone can help! So did you try the suggestion ? ? It wouldn't work. In games such as those they describe the cursor is drawn by the game, not the system. Although this is no help, You could try looking for options like "use system cursor" or something. It's often very game dependent. |

Solve : Nvidia 3d vision? |
Answer» I have got ANOTHER THREAD going somewhere about changing my 3D monitor, but before I do, I just wanted to make sure I am making the right decision. Before I bought this monitor I was told there was a lot of content for for Nvidia 3D vision, but I'm either looking in the wrong place or no such content exists. First of all I was told I would be able to watch YouTube 3D, but wrong, or is it I still don't know if I can because some sites say you can and others say you cannot? Secondly that there were many photos and pictures I could look at, but I haven't found any source ONLINE. The only thing this seems to do is play some games and the ones I have played so far don't look that good. The only thing I have found good so far is when the Nvida logo COMES right out of the screen and feels LIKE it's in front of my face, but it's alot of money to spend just for that. Does anyone know where can I get movies or anymore content for this 3D vision or I'll have no option but to send it back. Thankyou!! |

Solve : Can't uninstall or re-install the program? |
Answer» Quote from: Zachriel on October 24, 2011, 07:24:06 AM I've already told you, sorry if I got mistaken on the last part it was a Director not Editor, but is it enough to mock or say those words? I'm not a computer expert, a program running was good enough for me and doesn't bother remembering the name because of the tons of project and thesis that I was making for months now Sorry, meant no offense. I was just joking around.Quote from: Zachriel on October 25, 2011, 01:45:24 AM Yes, I've USED it and deleted the file but I still can't re-install it to try if the program was gone This does not make any SENSE. If its gone, why would you want to re-install to 'check' if its gone. If you have un-installed something that was on trial, you WILL NOT be able to re-install it, so that you can carry on using it. The trial has ENDED, now you have to buy it. Quote from: Zachriel on October 25, 2011, 01:45:24 AM Yes, I've used it and deleted the file but I still can't re-install it to try if the program was gone Run CCleaner - http://www.piriform.com/CCLEANER And RegSofts - http://www.regsofts.com/ Ensure when using CCleaner, that you untick any version of Office under the Applications tab ... or it will lose all your icons for Office. Then try to reinstall the program.REGISTRY cleaners can do more harm than good, so lets skip RegSofts and stick to CCleaner. I will endorse using the Registry cleaner in CCleaner as well as it's file Cleaner. I say this because CCleaner has a solid reputation for being a safe registry cleaner and, in situations like this, a registry cleaner can be helpful because the cause of problems like this one are sometimes caused by registry issues. If you run CCleaner's Registry cleaner, you can either let it fix all items found or you can selectively look for entries related to a Cyberlink program and REMOVE only them. I would let it remove all entries it finds but that's your call. CCleaner will prompt you to backup your registry before executing the removal of registry entries and doing the backup is always a good idea. |

Solve : win 7 disc ruined? |
Answer» I have made copies of Win 7 DVD and they worked fine. So if you have a friend with the same exact version of 7 as you, you can try this. In fact all Windows 7 install disks are identical. It's your key that determines what version gets installed on your PC. Quote from: DaveLembke on October 22, 2011, 08:09:02 PM It was a oem clean corporate type 7 disc without all the bloatware that computer companies add to new system builds. That would include device drivers for a specific brand and model computer, right? So, using it with another computer, even though it may successfully install the OS, may leave some driver issues to resolve, right? soybean your correct... They would likely have to track down the non GENERIC drivers like WIFI NIC etc that dont normally come bundled with oem OS. Thanks for stating that for the user to be aware of. And Salmon ... good to KNOW about 7 discs all being the same and the key being what determines the version. About time MS did this. As for with XP etc it was disc specific, and also with XP, some keys would work with some disc's and not all, almost like the discs were created in batches with supported keys ( prior to MS live activation for Final Approval or Disapproval of a bootleg or too many activations ) I got lucky with a few computers where the XP Pro oem disc would take the initial key from say the Dell key on the panel during the build process while have also run into some that come up as invalid key on some HP's etc. Nice to know that this issue should be gone with Win 7.Quote from: soybean on October 23, 2011, 10:35:32 AM That would include device drivers for a specific brand and model computer, right? No. Quote from: BC_Programmer on October 23, 2011, 02:34:49 PM No.Eh, I think this may vary, depending on the manufacturer. I believe - indeed, I'm almost absolutely sure - the recovery disc I have for my Compaq laptop will install drivers as well as the OS. Here's a reference which supports my view: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Recovery_disc Quote from the article: "Due to the recovery discs containing all the APPLICATIONS and drivers for a computer, many manufacturers are omitting copies of product CDs in favor of the single recovery system to prevent unauthorized distribution of preloaded software, as the recovery media is usually locked to the computer it came with."Quote from: soybean on October 24, 2011, 09:58:31 AM Eh, I think this may vary, depending on the manufacturer. I believe - indeed, I'm almost absolutely sure - the recovery disc I have for my Compaq laptop will install drivers as well as the OS. An OEM Windows disc is not a Recovery disk.Quote from: BC_Programmer on October 24, 2011, 10:04:02 AM An OEM Windows disc is not a Recovery disk.I believe I understand the distinction you're making. Yes, if I buy an OEM Windows disc from a seller such as newegg.com, I would be getting only the OS. I would then need to take additional action to obtain and install device drivers. On the other hand, a recovery disc from a manufacturer will typically include an OEM version of Windows and device drivers and perhaps other software that was installed on a computer when new. If I use the recovery disc for my Compaq laptop, it will install the OS, drivers, and various software that HP had installed on it when new. |

Solve : Convert X To DVD 4 question.? |
Answer» I just completed a project which includes 3 video files using Convert X To DVD 4. When you place the DVD into the player you are brought to the Title Menu which lists the 3 video files you can choose to play. There is one problem though, once you load any of the videos and hit the menu button your brought to some strange sub menu for the title your currently viewing with the option to "Play" or the "Menu" option. I want to be able to go right back to the title screen that appears when you load the DVD into the player not this other sub screen. There are dozens of Video to DID programs. So it is had to say just what the problem is. It should not be hard, but it is. This the the Forum for VSO, the creators of 'Convert X to DVD', maybe someone there could attempt to answer your question in full. Yeah I end up FINDING the solution on the forums over at VSO...it involved editing an ini file for one of the templates Glad you're sorted !! |

Solve : Acer Aspire 5920g - operating system? |
Answer» Hi guys, I'm not a gamer so I'm not sure how a particular OS would affect your game play. Regarding the other computer usage you mentioned, I see no reason to change from Vista. Windows 7 is much faster than vista, I had a few sluggish brand-new vista machines, installing windows 7 made them very fast. GAMING - So long as their are win 7 drivers for your graphics there might be a slight increase (vista drivers should work, but less stable and less performance) XP - I no longer use this at all, due to the difference in security between it and vista / 7.Quote from: immental1200 on October 18, 2011, 09:14:18 AM Windows 7 is much faster than vista, I had a few sluggish brand-new vista machines, installing windows 7 made them very fast.Well, I have a laptop computer, purchased in July 2007, with Vista, and I've never seen much need to upgrade to Windows 7 for "stuff like chrome, skype, vlc, office (word and excel)". I have Windows 7 on another computer and it's my favorite OS but, again, Vista has worked fine on the laptop for Office 2007, web browsing, email, and some other non-gaming apps. HI Everyone, thanks for replies and sorry if I have not replied for so many days but having being travelling and moving out.... I am a bit confused... someone says stay with vista others switch to W7. My pc specs: Intel core 2 duo processor T7300 (2.0 GHZ, 800 mhz FSB, 4mb L2 cache) 15.4 WXGA Acer CrystalBrite tim LCD (8ms / 220 nit) Up to 1024 MB nvidia GeForce 8600M GT TurboCache tim 2gb DDR2 802 11a/b/g WLAN I hope this is what immental ASKED to post... Before this pc I had an hp with less ram and XP. By buying a more powerful pc and with a newer os I thoght I would have a faster and more powerful machine.... I was wrong it was slower, it felt like a dinosaur! Maybe in the meantime vista has got much better, otherwise i would happily switch to something that is more agile and faster... So stay with Vista or switch to W7? Thanks G.Quote I am a bit confused... someone says stay with vista others switch to W7.Sure, you should not be surprised to get different opinions. I don't understand the "dinosaur" comment; your laptop should be faster than mine. But, since you felt that this computer felt like a dinosaur with Vista, I'll go along with immental1200 here with recommending Windows 7. |

Solve : need help with partitioning? |
Answer» It kind of looks like we are waiting on the OP...Okay...I figured the issue and have got Linus installed (using it right now). I think the screen/graphics could look sharper or better though and I'm guessing because this isn't the ORIGINAL OS so I don't have the correct hardware drivers. Is there a way I could get some Linus-compatible drivers? The drivers for this model laptop are for Windows Vista only (32-bit).Click Menu > Control CENTER > Hardware > Additional Drivers. It will scan for the correct driver and give you the option to install and ACTIVATE it. Click Menu > Control Center > Hardware > Additional Drivers. It will scan for the correct driver and give you the option to install and activate it. yes, i tried adjusting the screen resolution. things just don't quite look right, as if they could be sharper and clearer. i tried installing the driver it recommended and it did that but then said that it wasn't activated and i don't know how to activate itThe window that pops up when it finds the driver, near the bottom on the right there is an activate button. Click it. You will be prompted for your PASSWORD. That should be it. You will have to RESTART the computer once you do this. |

Solve : Chrome…. He’s dead, Jim!? |
Answer» OFTEN, the page I am viewing in Chrome dies. (He’s dead, Jim!) This doesn’t happen very often and when it does, just the one page dies and not the whole browser. I then control-Alt-Delete to reboot. Any ideas on why this happens and how to cure?Found this one http://www.google.com/support/chrome/bin/answer.py?answer=1270364(SORRY for a bump) Chrome is designed to run each TAB's memory seperately, I.E. I could have a very memory intensive game open (Backyard Monsters on Facebook is a decent example, the Flash player is what skyrockets in memory USAGE...) and that tab would be the only slow one, the others would be fine. If you want to get those tabs back and have a quick list of all tabs you've closed, TRY Sexy Undo Tab. I'm up to 4000 closed tabs (most are Facebook, Youtube, and various forums) |

Solve : OS independant portability?? |
Answer» I also read something about Java Portable (Jportable, by PortableApps.com). In fact I could run a .bat (on windows ofc) USING the JRE/JDK on my stick. The same goes for linux/unix (a bash script), and mac also has bash, I suppose... Like mentioned here in general, here and here for linux and here for windows. In that way I should have java in my pocket. I'm only dependant on the shells (like msdos and Bourne Again SHell), but since those platforms always COME with these there's no problem at all. Now I just need to get it to work. I'll first write my program, then TEST the portable java stuff and then I'll come BACK to here =) Good move. Java or some equilateral will be around for awhile. You may have heard, Sun/Oracle tried to make part of Java Open SOURCE. It was an attempt to get more people into Java. |

Solve : Most Trusted Anti-Virus Software? |
Answer» What is the most TRUSTED anti-virus program on the planet today?noneIt should be mostly recommended antivirus,Free or Paid. A lot of recent threads have been discuss so, you might wanna check some by going to the search box or directly to FAQ/Virus and Spyware Section.MSE + SUPERAntiSpyware + Malwarebyes = protected. ... the most trusted ...?I don't know and I don't anybody here can support a claim of a certain Anti-Virus Software being the most trusted. I think there are quite a few good ones to chose from, so I wouldn't be obsessed with trying to find the "most trusted". I've been using avast! Antivirus Free for some months, almost a year with Windows 7, and am very pleased with it. Quote from: patio on October 13, 2011, 06:43:39 AM May as well add WinPatrol to that as well....everything else is exactly what i use now...Let's not forget about SpywareBlasterSomeone is sharing. So I'll SHARE mine too. But "These are not the most trusted anti-virus programs."... Laptop Primary: Microsoft Security Essentials (real-time protection enabled) Secondary: SUPERAntiSpyware (backup) Tertiary: Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware (backup) additional: Windows Firewall, Web Of TRUST, CCleaner, Trend Micro HijackThis Desktop Primary: Avira AntiVir (real-time protection enabled) Secondary: SUPERAntiSpyware (backup) Tertiary: Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware (backup) additional: Comodo Firewall, Web Of Trust, CCleaner, Trend Micro HijackThisccleaner has nothing to do with anti-virus or anti-malware HiJack this should not be used by anyone who dues not FULLY understand how to use it and the implications of deleting items with HJT SuperAntiSpyware and MalwareBytes are not anti-spyware apps - they are anti-malware apps. As indicated above, they can (and should) be used in conjunction with a good anti virus application. |

Solve : Windows NT Symbols Setup? |
Answer» I just finished installing Visual Studio 6 and it told me that it left some .dbg files for Windows NT Symbols Setup to handle, but when I ran it it SAYS: The Windows NT 3.51 CD-ROM compact disc contains an incorrect version of the User32.dbg file.Source: Windows Knowledge Base. Yeah, but the message comes up for ALL the .dbg files...The last time I used Visual Studio 6 I was using Windows 2000, I THINK. So I can not directly help you. It may be that you have install other programs that include some files from the C++ library. They C++ fies would be newer. One WAY to verify this is to find a PC that never has had NET or C++ on it and see if Visual Studio 6 will install without those errors. Do you really need Visual Studio 6? EDIT Others reading this thread may wish to see tis article: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Microsoft_Visual_Studio Visual Studio 6 is now a very old product. Visual studio 210 Express is free for educational USE. It doesn't matter if you copy them. Since they don't match, it won't use them.Ok, thanks BC. |

Solve : Kindle? |
Answer» Does anyone USE the free PC kindle book reader from amazon the their PC? Does it need wifi to download and read the books. I have prepaid modem. Fees for transfer of personal documents to the Kindle via Whispernet are based on the size of the file submitted (before compression if you use a .zip file), your country, and where you're accessing Whispernet. Fees will only be charged for documents that are successfully received wirelessly to your Kindle. (Personal Document Service is not available via Whispernet in Canada. Please see Sending Personal Documents to Kindle[/FONT] for information about e-mailing personal documents to your computer for USB transfer to your Kindle.) I guess it would be more cost-effective to download the books onto your computer via your prepaid modem on your computer and then copy them to your Kindle via a USB cable. Yes the Kindle doesn't have a network connector and only has WiFi. Some models do support cellular data service.[/font]Quote from: leigh11 on October 12, 2011, 05:30:21 AM Does anyone use the free PC kindle book reader from amazon the their PC? Does it need wifi to download and read the books. I have prepaid modem. As I understand it, you don't need wifi to download and read books ON YOUR PC. And, my understanding is that you can read two ways on a PC; one way is to download Kindle for PC (free) or you can read via web browser by using the CHROME or Safari browser. |

Solve : Trying to identify processes running according to task manager. What software?? |
Answer» This is on my HP Compaq 6715b business laptop running Vista Business 64 bit. I've gone through add/remove PROGRAMS and uninstalled what I didn't want or didn't recognize. But task manager shows a couple of PROCESSES that I'm not sure about. I need help identifying what software uses these processes. #1 IfxUAGUI.exe / description = no descrition Seems like I recognize the name Infineon Technologies , but I can't find exactly which process it is related to it? #2 PSDrt.exe *32 / description = PSD Runtime Application According to goggle this is also Infineon Technologies [regaining space - attachment deleted by admin]Quote Some malware camouflage themselves as IfxUAGUI.exe, particularly if they are located in c:\windows or c:\windows\system32 folder. Courtesy Eset...find out where it's located...I don't see it in c:\ windows, nor do I see it in c:\windows\system32. But task manager now GIVES a 'description' = "User Authentication GUI" I'm thinking it may be related to the fingerprint scanner I use to log into my administrator ACCOUNT but that's just a guess? or It may be related to all the security stuff used with Vista Business x64. Task managed does not give me a path for the file location. How do I find this in order to find it's location? Quote /program files/Infineon/Security Platform Software/Search your computer for this directory.I found the TPM 1.2 driver in device manager. So I'm confident it's a legit process although it's not listed in /program files/ or /program files (x86) Thanks for the help Transfusion!!! [regaining space - attachment deleted by admin] |

Solve : Onscreen Font Size in Outgoing Emails Is Too Small? |
Answer» Here's a weird deal. when you change the font size in a message to be sendt the screen still shows the same size and does not render the change in size. Not exactly, but it may be semantics. Outlook's default here - at least on this machine - is 11 pt. Calibri in HTML. The recipient receives an email in 11 pt. Calibri. What appears on my colleague's screen is about 7 pt. You know how in Word or Excel, there's a slider in the lower right-hand corner that reduces or enlarges the text? It's like he's reduced the text - but only in his "typing" window. I knew this was going to be impossible to describe accurately! It's an issue because it's hard for him to read onscreen. If he increases the font size so he can read it, it means that the recipient is getting something like 16 pt. text - which is ridiculous. I will try to get some screenshots up later tonight. Thanks for the article - will take a look. rjbTry this. Open Outlook and select the Mail view. Go to Tools, Options, and select the Mail Format tab. Click the Stationary and Fonts button. Click the Font button for New mail messages and set the font STYLE and size there. Did that help? When the message is transmitted/received, it's the correct font size. All indications onscreen are that it's the correct font size. It's only the way the text appears in the OUTGOING that's wrong. I don't have my colleagues computer with me tonight, so I can't try the "Mail Format" option, but it doesn't wreak similar havoc on mine. So here are some screenshots. This is a message I sent FROM my good computer, TO my colleague's: Link to picture (for full-size). When it arrived on his computer, all was Fonzie: Link to picture (for full-size). But when you click "Reply", notice how the text (and the picture) all of a sudden appear really, really small - even though the toolbars, etc. remain "normal": Link to picture (for full-size). And, then, what it comes through on my Outlook, it looks totally fine again: Link to picture (for full-size). Weird, I think. New Message => Format Text => ZOOM Maintains previous settings, but only on outgoing messages. So I answered my own question, and could have spared all the time with screenshots! Oh, well! Thanks! |

Solve : Some strange black bars bug? |
Answer» Hello people! I dont really know how to describe this, take a look http://img440.imageshack.us/img440/6981/bug2r.jpg . Has any of you encountered somethink like this before? Will just plugging off my pc for lets say an hour do it? No. It looks as if the video card is either faulty or not properly seated. If you do not feel confident to try re-seating it yourself, try to find a technically experienced friend to help you or take it to a repair shop. Another thing to consider is overheating. Is the fan on the video card turning? Yes, the fan is turning and I have control over it. Ive set it to auto right now, but when I yank it to 100% its like a jet engine Altho I never NEVER hear any sound from it when its on auto. Even when I play games like sc2 that make the card generate a lot of heat.So what are you going to do? One wonders... This may go on for awhile...Well ok its done. I took out and put in the card by myself AND EVERYTHING IS WORKING!! for now. Okay, its just a matter of time until we find out if this works.Keep an eye on it and make sure you tightened the screw properly. (Not too much!) There is a thing called "thermal ratcheting" that sometimes happens. This is where a card or memory module warms up and expands and rises up a little in its slot. When it cools down it sinks down again but doesn't quite go back to where it was before. EVENTUALLY it will have moved up enough to cause contact problems. Therefore a prudent owner will gently press the card down from time to time, especially if they have had something like this happen. Whoa thanks, I didnt even know that could happen. I havent had any problems since I took it out and placed it back in, but I will always remember to check the screw and push it a little every time I clean my computer |

Solve : Microsoft word is eating my files!? |
Answer» Ok, so maybe not, but I don't know where they are going! First, I believe I am using Word 2007, but not sure how to check to make sure that that is correct.... What I did was double click the file from Express, make changes, click the blue disc, and exit. It wasn't until this morning after I sent the zipped file to my client did I realize that edits did not take. I see! By opening the file from directly inside Express, you were unzipping the file to a temporary directory-so when you saved the file, you saved it to the temporary directory, and no changes were committed to the zip file. You should unzip the word document(s) onto your hard drive, edit and save it, then re-zip it for your changes to be effective.Could you tell me how to find the edited documents in my temp folder? We're talking hours upon hours of work....I have searched for the docs by name....no avail.Somebody has been IM'ing me help on finding these documents and I have located them using command promps....but all I have is a list of them and the path directory. Can someone point me on how to find the folder it says they are stored in? Also, it's fully possible that ExpressZip deleted the files once you closed word.Nothing came up searching in explorer Quote from: hlavine on October 10, 2011, 05:12:50 PM Nothing came up searching in explorer Not searching. Open Windows Explorer. Click the "address bar"/Location bar, which usually shows a breadcrumb bar. Click a blank area. It will select "Computer" (or wherever you happen to be). paste in C:\users\heather lavine\appdata\local\temp or, equally usable, Windows Key+R, and enter Code: [Select]explorer "C:\users\heather lavine\appdata\local\temp" Note the colon after the C, also.OMG That worked -- I found them!!!! Thank you thank you thank you!!!!!!! Doing a happy dance!I see that... |

Solve : Dell Studio17 Driver problems after re-install? |
Answer» Have Dell Studio17 with Windows 7. 500G sata. 4G MEMORY. Problems with supposed virus infection. Friend said he could reload 7 and solve problem. After install to 3rd partition lost windows recovery. Had driver disk, but I'm not familiar with the right ones to install. Recommended to try DriverZone. Shows 10 drivers missing but cant download them.Stay away from products like DriverZone that supposedly fix everything by updating your drivers. There is no point in paying for drivers that are free anyway. You can download your drivers from Dell. I am glad to hear that you got it sorted, and don't feel embarassed. |

Solve : my laptop loads slow when my wifes laptop signs on anything? |
Answer» used this to help get what info i could find So I am going to try to make this more clear. Do you mean slow in terms of network connectivity (internet, LAN gaming, etc.) or the whole computer (programs)? Well, I do not see any problems when I use anything that is not connected to the internet use, like word pad or searching files or playing movies from a DVD. Basically once I log onto my internet browser and jump on, for starters, Yahoo/Facebook my upload speed to my screen is slow, if upload is the right term?. When I check my latency in my game settings once I get fully in,it looks its fine, for what I know, but when I try to run forward I start to move then it pauses and I skip back to my original spot again. I play a MMO thats similar to World Of Warcraft, DDO.com. I notice the problems there the most, and when I try to bring up my Yahoo browser, its like from 1 second to about 5+ when my wife is on her comp. I had a friend who is slightly computer savvy said it might be a software problem. If that HELPS? Hopefully this info will help get closer to my problem.....Might be worthwhile to see what is running on HER laptop. If she's running P2P downloads (like Bittorrents) this can often hog the internet connection. There are some viruses that can cause similar symptoms as well, but it's hard to say without knowing more.Check your connection speed by visiting www.speedtest.net. Is it about what you should be getting? |
