Solve : Lynda Anderson in distress?

Answer»

Please would someone out there help me with my computer problem.
I'm BASED in a remote location so this is my only hope for help. All of a sudden, the command on my " key and my @ key have reversed. I don't know what I have done (real dumb blond) and would be very grateful if you could tell me how to rectify this problem. Thanks you.

p.s. At the same time, my Yahoo home page that I have always used all of a sudden changed into Itallian, how can I get this back to English? Try going to the ControlPanel and find the Regional and Language option, and set the country to English(United States).Thank you for your help, and I did exactly as you advised, set the regional language to English (United States) then 'apply' and 'ok' then I restarted my computer thinking this was the right thing to do, but the problem is still the same. Is there anything else you can suggest I try? Thank you so much for you help. Lynda Can you do a system restore to a date prior to your problem starting?
Hopefully you have been backing up your data.Oooooops, now you will know just how 'blond' I have been hehehehe, I'm embarrassed to say that no I have not backed up anything, I don't know how, and when I looked into that option, I was put off by the fact that the computer warned me that it could only restore factory settings and I would lose everything that I have put on this laptop subsequent to purchase. I have software programs, many documents, files, photos etc and just can't afford to lose all that. Yes I know ... really stupid of me ....... . I'm learning!

Do you have any other suggestions? Thanks so much for your help. Kind regards LyndaYes I know ... really stupid of me ....... . I'm learning! Not knowing, is not stupid, only not learning. If it was me at this point I would probably uninstall and reload Yahoo which seems to spread itself all over. However, that BEST thing for you to do is be patient and someone named Broni, Patio or one of the other really smart guys will drop by.
Go to start .programs, accessories,System tools,System restore,
Do you have a restore date a few days before this problem
STARTED ?Thanks for your reply, I went there and I do not seem to have created a restore date, and indicates that this will go back t factory settings. I'm WORRIED that I will lose all my subsequent data and photos so I am currently making another copy of all my photos and files onto a 120 GB external hard drive, just in case. I really do appreciate all you guys giving me your time and advice, thank you. I will look again to see if I can't put in a restore date now, as everything was working perfectly well on the 14th May, so if I can see my way back to that date, then I will try what you have suggested.
Much in appreciation
Lynda We will keep monitoring your progress. Let us

Sorry,'Off Topic' any connection to your name

See the irony? Is this a U.S. keyboard on a desktop? (As opposed to say a European keyboard on a laptop.) Is the Yahoo homepage the only thing in Italian or has the entire Internet gone Italian? (That's-a one spicy-a Internet!) I can't be certain but I suspect someone is playing a prank on you. Lynda,I know what the @ key looks like and where it is on the keyboard however where is this "key" key that you reffer to?truenorthQuote from: NOT ADMIN :P on May 18, 2008, 07:17:44 PM

I assure you, there is no irony here. Although "blonde" is female-specific, "blond" can be used for females as well.

She's talking about the apostrophe/quotation key. Just to the right of the colon/semicolon.

Are you sure you're following street1's directions exactly? System Restore doesn't reset the computer back to factory settings. Could you take a screenshot for us? I'm too lazy/tired right now to explain it myself, so read this. Take a screenshot of the MESSAGE you're seeing and then attach it so we can see it. It doesn't sound like you're at the System Restore screen.
