Solve : Excel date entry?

Answer»

I used to be able to enter the date with just the month and day, the year WOULD fill automatically (to current year) unless I typed in a different year. Now if I type "Jan 1" the program ASSUMES that it is Jan 1, 2001. I've tried all the setting I can find - no luck. Help!have just checked mine and it does the same...but if I type the date in once using the year at the end then when I enter the date again 19 may it then automatically adds the correct yearthanks for the reply but thaa doesn't seem to work for me...!have you tried clicking the BOX at the top left....above number 1 and to the left of A in ORDER to select the whole sheet then right click anywhere on the sheet and choose format cells option and set the date format that you want....once done you can then just type in the day and month and the year (the correct one) will be added automatically.yep, I've tried that one too.. what version of office are you running?2002well it CERTAINLY has me stumped....I have just tried what I last posted on my dads office 2003 it also works on my office 2000...I hope spmeone will pop in who knows how to help you m8If you enter =NOW() in a cell, what date is displayed?
