Solve : VLC PLAYER WONT PLAY AN AVI?

Answer»

i am using vlc player on windows VISTA 32bit and it wont play my .avi (divx) files.

Does anyone know why?

Or what codec pack should i use for WMP to play .avi's and other movies files.

Where can i get this?http://www.filehippo.com/download_klite_codec_pack/Have you downloaded and installed the DivX codec?

http://www.divx.com

WMP will play AVIs, it just depends on how they were encoded. WMP does not come with a DivX codec however, so you'll need to download it.VLC shouldn't need any extra codecs, since all of them are built-in.
We need more info: one avi FILE, any avi file, where did that file come from, etc.?Perhaps try reinstalling VLCAn important question: how long has this been happening, and have you ever been able to play AVI's with VLC?He must be watching that movie, I ASSUME...heheheQuote from: Broni on May 16, 2008, 09:22:55 PM

?

what movie?

I have never tried vlc player b4 and when i did it didnt play my AVI (divx) movie.

then i tried it in WMP and it still didnt play.

i will try this klite codec

thanksK-Lite will enable WMP to play nearly anything you need. It is a necessary download for people who use WMP a lot. If this is the first time you've tried to play the file and it doesn't work, it is possible the video file is corrupted. This is what I think, too, since VLC has all NEEDED codecs, and doesn't want to play that movie.the file has played on my XP rig with no probs (VLC PLAYER) since ive had it.

my new vista build will not play it.

the file is not corrupted.

I copied it to a flash drive and played it on my xp rig, worked fine!

i dont know what is going on.

AGGGGHH!!!Do you get any error messages? Even though you have the VLC player, you might want to install the latest DivX codec still.
