Solve : uninstall windows movie maker??

Answer»

hello there...

just wanna ask how to uninstall windows movie maker?

[windows XP]You can't, it is an integrated part of Windows.
Only way to remove it would be a messy manual remove. Not something I would recommend unless you know what you're doing.
But why do you NEED to uninstall it?
hmmm.....i need to uninstall it because it KEEPS on shutting down or closing everytime i place more than 6 to 8 pics on the storyboard....in short, it's no use for me now. i DONT know actually why it suddenly malfunctioned.

if i can't uninstall it, how can i fix it?

Try this:
http://www.tweakxp.com/article37267.aspx

It will reinstall WMM. That may fix your problem.
You will probably need a Windows XP install disc to complete the re-install
oh...unfortunately i dont have my XP cd anymore....

I suggest you BORROW one then.
Just make sure it is the same version and language as the XP you have installed.okay....or maybe i should just leave it there and not do anything about it.......just for now......only.....i'll try the suggestions some time

thanks for the help. You're welcome and that's entirely up to you.
try updating your movie maker in microsoft's website

Solve : serial device to vista?

Answer»

Ok so I have an old piece of lab equipment that I need to hook up to the computer. It has a serial port so i bought a serial to usb adapter. The problem is that the newest drivers for the device are good for windows 2000.

I tried using a couple virtual consoles, xp and windows 2000. I've tried using microsoft virtual pc but it doesn't support usb. I tried using virtual box but since i can't install the printer in vista (host) I can't use it on the virtual console.

Any suggestions on how to fix this?
The easiest SOLUTION might be to go buy an old computer somewhere but all the data and lab tests are on the computer with vista so I can't really do that easily.

hopefully someone can help before i go insaneWithout drivers written for Vista i'm afraid you are out of luck...
There are some XP drivers that will run a device under Vista but as you stated the newest ONES are for Win2K.
Another option would be to run Win2K in a virtual MACHINE setup on Vista....if this is a valid option Post back for more info...
Also post alot more info on the device and the software required for running it so we can advise properly...Well I actually did try running it through a virtual console. I FIRST tried using microsoft virtual console but that lacks support for usb. I then tried running windows 2000 on virtual box, but for virtual box to use usb, the device has to be installed on the host computer and then mounted on virtual box. Because of the fact that the drivers only go up to windows 2000 and not vista, I don't know if it's even possible to install the printer on vista just so I can mount it onto the console.

The device is a microplate liquid handler so basically it's set up to mix very precise amounts of chemicals without losing the seals and it'll then partly analyze the result of the reaction.

There are a couple possible fixes that I was thinking of but I'm not sure if either is feasible. The first one is that I've heard some talk about dual booting. Now to the best of my understanding, this seems to be something like having two operating systems on a computer and choosing which one to run during start up. Hopefully someone can tell me if I'm close at all and if this is feasible.

The second solution is tricking vista. Is there anyway I could install the device on vista with the windows 2000 driver. I know I wouldn't be able to run it via vista but I wouldn't want to anyway. Somehow install it in vista (it would basically be useless there since the computer wouldn't be able to communicate with it). Then, run windows 2000 in a virtual console and mount the machine through the usb port since it would be an installed device and therefore valid to use.A dual boot setup may be the best overall solution then...
Vista i'm guessing would not even proceed with the Win2K driver install so that approach is out of the question.

A suggestion for dual-booting.
Check to see if your BIOS supports switching the drive to boot to...most newer boards do.
This is to simplify things as Windows gets funky without the older OS being installed first. So instead of messing with your Vista install trying to install another flavor of Windows on the same drive we'll take a common sense tack and set it up on a seperate HDD.
Basically to do so you need another formatted clean HDD.
The procedure is relatively simple but needs to be done correctly to work properly.

All i need to know is:
1) Does your BIOS enable you to switch between boot drives ?
2) Are you using IDE or SATA drives or a combination of the two ?
3) Do you have a Win2K CD ?

In the meantime DLoad and run Everest Home (Free) and start assembling a collection of Win2K drivers...you'll need the MBoard drivers; Sound; Video; of course that printer and any others that Everest lists.

Post back when you've got the drive and all the Win2k drivers and an answer to the 3 questions....

Solve : remove exif launcher and finepix?

Answer»

Hello,

My computer is a HP paviion with Service Pack 2. I am getting a new digital camera and am trying to get rid of old software from others I had.

In my Task Manager there is an icon that says exif launcher. If I click that it takes me to FinePix Viewer. When I TRY to delete Finepix Viewer from Add/Remove in CONTROL Panel, it gives me a wizard to install it. I want to remove it.

Please can someone help me?

Thank youIf you proceed beyond that point, does it give you the OPTION to remove?

I have FinePix Viewer installed. My Add or Remove Programs list shows FOUR items which I believe all come from the installation of FinePix Viewer. I see:
FinePix Viewer Resource
FinePix Viewer Ver 5.0
FUJIFILM USB Driver
ImageMixer VCD for FinePix

So, you may need to do multiple removals to remove everything related to FinePix Viewer.

Solve : Best Computer Essentials.?

Answer»

I'm currently compiling a list of best (and free) software essentials for Windows XP and Vista into a zip/rar file which I will upload to a site later.

Currently I'm struggling to FIND a free (and good) disk imager. It's a toss up between O & O or Acronis. If anybody else feels there is a better brand, please feel free to name it.What are you trying to achieve? How do the best free software list in a zip file, a host/web site, and a disk image program RELATE to one another? Do you intend to link the software list to a site for download, sharing, and/or back up a image of it on the site or what?

Note: Feel free to download my freeware list (word format) with links, in my sites LISTED in both my signature's below...You don't need to know what I'm trying to achieve here. All I REQUEST is a freeware program that is highly recommended and used by MANY people.check out sourceforge.net

Supporting USB is not the same as supporting USB booting.
You need to check your MBoard documentation (or the BIOS) to make sure it can boot from a USB device.

Solve : Fresh start?

Answer»

First off all I just want to THANK EVERYONE in advance since I have gotten help here before on some pretty big computer issues before..
Well this time I am thinking of formatting and starting fresh since it has been three years and there are still some issues with my system. Although I have formatted many times before, the last time I did everything ran slow and I ended up running the recovery disk that came with the computer initially to have everything installed for me. This worked somewhat last time but I have upgraded my computer with a new SOUND card and a new video card since so I would imagine the recovery disk would install the wrong things.
How should I GO about reinstalling everything? Should I reset my BIOS after the format or just leave it be?
(Using Windows XP Home SP2)
Computer Specs
AMD Athlon 64 3700+
2GB RAM
ASUS EAX X1600XT Silent
Sound Blaster Audigy 2

P.S. The other problem is that I am not sure if I have drivers for everything and I am not sure if I will be able to find them. Is there some program or website that would be able to scan to see what hardware I have installed?

ThanksQuote from: Munn on April 15, 2008, 06:02:09 PM

Don't touch your BIOS settings. The BIOS is not affected by the operating system so there no need to reset it just because you're doing a OS reinstall.
Apart from that I don't really know what else to tell you. Install Windows, then your drivers and your software.

Solve : help!how to format diskette and reset it like new floppy?

i want to test the device booting sequence og my motherboard
1. floppy
2. HDD

so i insert non-bootable diskette and bootable HDD.

I try to format diskette under windows, and try format.com under DOS, both method can make my system drop tp HDD booting when there is a non-bootable diskette.
anybody here know TOOLS that make diskette reset to new MBR diskette? From my experience, it always tries to boot the floppy, then it yells at you that it isn't bootable and you have to take it out. Quote from: Soviet GENIUS on APRIL 20, 2008, 10:03:24 PM

The tool you're looking for does not EXIST only_lonely, because new diskettes are formatted just like they would be if you used the formatting tools in DOS/Windows.

New diskettes do not contain a Master Boot Record. That wouldn't make any sense since different operating systems have different MBRs.
If what you want to create is in fact a diskette with a copy of the MBR on it, which can be used to boot Windows in cases where the MBR on your hard drive is corrupt, read this: (Guide is for XP)
http://www.theeldergeek.com/create_xp_boot_disk.htm so, could i say that the test procedure is invalid?
the bios did not allow to put a non-bootabl diskette ,and attempt to next device. That would be my conclusion.

Solve : FAQ's definetely help. Thanks Dilbert.?

Answer»

My trial subscription to Microsoft Office and Works recently RAN out. I did not want to pay MS for all those programs when all I ever USE is the word processor. So I did a Google on word processors and found a free program CALLED OpenOffice. I d/l it and it works fine except that my computer slowed way down. I was surfing the FAQ's here on software and found the perfect post by Dilbert. Not only did he recommend this free program but he INCLUDED instructions on how to disable the Quickstart. I followed his instructions and bingo! I now have a free word processor that is compatible with Microsoft's Word and my computer is back up to speed. Thanks again Dilbert!

I have two questions:

1. Can I safely remove Microsoft Office and Works from my computer?
2. I really only use the word processor of OpenOffice. Can I safely remove the other
programs that came with OpenOffice?

Cheers,
MarkYes you can uninstall MS Office. I am not sure about what you can uninstall from Open Office.

I can tell you this I had the same problem...wanting a word processor. I didn't want or need anything else. How I SOLVED my problem was with a free word program called AbiWord. It looks and acts just like MS word and get this...its about 6 megs!

Solve : Transferring email accounts from XP/Outlook to Vista laptop/Windows Mail?

Answer»

Hello

I have a lot of email addresses and need to export them from an XP into a Vista laptop as well as work with them on an ongoing basis. I've tried using the import/export wizards to no help. It just says "cannot be imported from the MAPI client".

The XP is using Outlook, the Vista laptop is using Outlook Express.

I'm using a USB "Tornado" file transfer tool to connect the two machines.

Thank you for any help.

Vista does not have Outlook Express. Please clarify what email client you are using with Vista.Oops. Windows Mail I MEAN. 6.0.6000.16386

Thanks. What is the file extension on the file you "exported" from Outlook? This last try was .csvWell, you should be able to import a .csv file into Windows Mail. Here's a reference on exporting from OE: http://www.worldstart.com/tips/tips.php/3698

What is a "USB 'Tornado' file transfer tool"?It doesn't even try to look for anything, no navigation attempt whatsoever, it just instantly gives that message.

Sounds like it's not really locating the .csv file then. Seems like the problem may be the Tornado file transfer thing, not Outlook or Windows Mail. Do you have a flash drive? If so, use that INSTEAD of the The Tornado file transfer thingy.
The Tornado thing is the only thing I have right now but I transferred the csv directly to the Vista hard drive.OK, then you should be able to navigate to that file when executing an import into Windows Mail. Can you do that? When I go to File>Import It gives me 3 choices...

Windows Contacts
Messages
Mail Account Settings
News Account Settings

The Messages option give me 4 more options...

Microsoft Exchange
Microsoft Outlook
Microsoft Outlook Express 6
Microsoft Windows Mail

The Microsoft Outlook option just gives an INSTANT error message about "cannot be imported from the MAPI client"

The Windows Mail 7 option brings up a Browse files dialog box but it looks for a folder only. I have the csv file on the desktop but it does not see it.

Otherwise I go to Tools>Accounts>Import but it looks for .iaf files only.

So, the Microsoft Outlook option and Windows Mail 7 option fall under The Messages option, right? You're talking messages here, not email accounts, which is the subject/title of this discussion. So, let's clarify the objective here. Let's focus on one thing at a time, and let's start with importing of email accounts, since that's the topic.

Have you exported your email accounts from OE? To do that, go to Tools, Accounts, Mail, select the account, and click on the Export button. This exports your account to a .iaf file, which you then need to import into Windows Mail. Let me clarify. I am trying to import mail settings from Outlook, not Outlook Express. Sorry about the confusion, and yes, you are correct, I am only interested in the settings at this point.

Outlook does not seem to have any way to export settings like OE does. Import, yes, but not export other than an option named "Export to a file" which is how I got the .csv I've been talking about. No .iaf file options to be had as far as I can tell.Oops, I got on the wrong track there. You mentioned .iaf is a previous post and that got me to thinking about OE instead of Outlook.

Unfortunately, there's no way to backup email accounts in Outlook, as far as i know, without resorting to some third-party software such as Outlook Backup. Apparently, a demo version Outlook Backup, can be downloaded and used with limited functionality. But, the limitations listed on the site do not include email accounts; IOW, the demo version apparently will backup email accounts, and then, I assume, you could import into Windows Mail. However, it's not clear to me whether the file format created by Outlook Backup is a format that can be imported into Windows Mail; I haven't actually used this product.

Here's something else that came up in a Google search: Outlook 2003 Accounts File. Thanks soybean you've been a big, big help. At least now I know what's going on and have a handle on my options.

It does look like Outlook Backup will work, though I'm disappointed in Microsoft for setting things up like that !

Thanks again.

The driver solution for this product is included in your Windows Vista operating system and is already on your computer. There is no need to download anything . Follow the steps below to quickly and easily get your product working with Windows Vista.
Installing the printer driver

1.
Verify that the printer is turned on.
2.
Connect the Universal Serial Bus (USB) cable to the printer and to the computer.
3.
A Your devices are ready to use window might display on the screen. If the window displays and does not close automatically, close the window.
4.
Print a test page to verify that the printer is working correctly.

Does it print test page, or just scanner function doesn't work?

Oh, it prints alright, but it doesn't scan to the computer as it did in the XP installation. When we first tried to install, it installed from within the computer as you SUGGESTED. But the HP Director did not go in from either the internet nor from the CD that came with the printer.

HAROLDGo Start, and in Start search type in:
services.msc
Hit Enter.
Services window will open.
Scroll down to:
Windows Image Acquisition service.
Make sure it's set to Automatic. If it's not, do so, and restart computer.i think Broni hit the nail on the head.

I didnt even think of suggesting that.

http://www.erightsoft.com/SUPER.html

I agree that Super is a comprehensive converter program, and their are others that are perhaps relatively adequate (e.g. free internet converter, Apex converter, and others). Many free all in one converter programs have come about (or become popular) since YouTube and Ipods..

Perhaps trolo8, your mp4 file is a bit corrupt, if you cannot get sound properly, or you MIGHT need DivX CODECS to convert to avi...i though about the DIvx codec so i tryed downloading it ...have no disk space lol now have to try to free up enough space to download it thx tho guys

Solve : Upgrading from outlook2000 to outlook2003?

Answer»

Hey guys,
I have a small problem when I upgraded from Outlook 2000 to Outloook 2003. Once I finished upgrading, I tried to send an email from my contact, HOWEVER I saw that A PERSON's name was repeated multiple times for each valid email that they had. for example if John SMITH had [emailprotected] and [emailprotected], I see 2 John Smith enteries instead of 1 like i USED to see in outlook 2000. What is the setting that I have to use to make Outlook 2003 put any email assoiciated with 1 name to stay in 1 entery and not multiple enteries? Here is a picture to demonstrate the problem:

Burn the songs to CD, then import into itunes.

No need to burn them onto CD, just import the MP3 files into iTunes from their CURRENT location. If you want a good "non-Itunes" solution...Winamp now has a built in i-Pod plugin so you can copy your mp3's to your i-pod really quick and easy...jsut plug in your i-Pod with winamp open, and let it DETECT it, then simply right click your songs in your playlist or library and then send to > ******'s i-Pod

http://www.winamp.com

Free version will do just fine, it will even convert your WMA's to i-Pods favoured format, AAC for you if need be

best of wishes,
KurtisHere's a couple of free i-Pod tools that might help organize your tracks, particularly if you have plenty of them...another easy to USE PROGRAM is media monkey.

But i dont like the user interface so i Dled a modded version of iTunes.

Okay well instead of bombarding him with tools and sals pitches...lets just let them choose for themselves, huh?

KurtisYou should be able to sycronise your music in WMP, unless its a older version.

Solve : Control multi-usage of Internet?

Answer»

I have 4 computers, with DIFFERENT user for different family MEMBERS. All of them have access to the Internet. Our internet provider is now limiting downloads to 60G per month but the total download for us far pass the limit. Is there a software that can give me access to control the downloads on other computers using this one? Without installing anything on the other computers but gives me control to how much they download.

Please give me a list of software I can go through. It does not have to be free.iNet Protector is the world's number one tool for controlling Internet access. With iNet Protector you can restrict internet access at specified times or on DEMAND. You can also password protect internet connection. Timer feature allows you to disable internet connection after a specified AMOUNT of time. You can limit which programs and features have access to the internet (for example, e-mail).

Solve : Help! Upgraded modem with firmware, now Thunderbird and mailwasher won't work!?

Answer»

Hi, I just upgraded my Bigpond ADSL to ADSL+2. I have a Siemens speedstream 4200 router which I made compatible with the ADSL+2 by downloading some FIRMWARE for it. Everything is working fine except now Mailwasher Pro and Thunderbird get errors when trying to access my mail. I can view my mail online with bigpond, but can't figure out why I can no longer use my programs to get my mail. Mailwasher tells me: The POP sever is not responding appropriately, make sure you have specified the address of a POP server.
Thunderbird tells me: An error occurred with the POP3 mail server. Mail.bigpond.com responded: then it's blank.
I can still send email from Thunderbird, and I've NOTICED that each time I open one of these programs that AVG antivirus email scanner comes up, which says: AutoPOP3: connecting to: then it has an IP address. I've tried to look up the address and apparently it doesn't exist??
If ANYONE has any IDEA at all what is going on, it would be greatly appreciated, I'm not very technically-minded......I have XP SP2 by the way......hope someone can help ThanksIn ThunderBird right clik your Account andd select Properties then server settings...
Write down what it says under POP3 and check it against what your ISP's settings should be.
The SMTP settings are fine if you are able to send mail so no need to check those.

Do this for all accounts you are having incoming troubles with. Thanks for your reply. I've checked those settings and it has made no difference, I still get the same errors. I've tried reinstalling and turning off my antivirus too, and nothing has worked......Any other suggestions? Thanks again...I've worked out what the problem was (after calling TECH support for bigpond who were no help and blamed it on my antivirus). It was the firewall setting in my router, the connection to my mail was timing out, so I've turned it off. I've never had an issue with having the firewall on in my router before, so I don't really understand the 'why's' of it, but it solved the issue. Thank you for taking the time to reply patio You're more than Welcome ...glad you found Us...

Solve : Medisoft 4.32a--DOS version?

Answer»

Medisoft is a medical billing program. 4.32a is the last release of the DOS version. I am trying to format a BILL for a SPECIFIC insurance company. Each date of service line requires that my personal ID number be listed over my national ID number. Each date of service line is 2 rows WIDE, so my personal ID number appears on the top line and the national on the bottom. I am using the CMS 1500 billing forms, if you are familiar with these. I have gotten the form formatted CORRECTLY with one exception. It prints out one extra line with my personal ID number on it. I am having to use white out to get rid of the extra row of numbers. There are "IF:" and "PRINT:" STATEMENTS for each field on the bill. Any ideas of how to get this formatted so I can quit buying white out would be greatly appreciated. The computer I use for billing is a Dell Dimension 4700. The OS is Windows XP-Home.

Solve : Computer's audio playing up...?

Answer»

Wasn't sure which forum to post this in, but basically the audio on my computer is majorly bugged.

When I start up my computer, I will (on most occasions) hear the windows log in NOISE. But after that, none of my applications will output audio unless I open them straight away.

In the audio part of Control Panel, it tells me "No audio device" but this is not the case, I have my speakers properly connected and the latest drivers installed. The only way I can resolve the problem, is to restart my computer, then whatever program I need to use to have sound I have to open first. It will give me sound from that program, but nothing else - and it will still tell me no audio device detected, DESPITE the FACT that it is playing (some) audio.

I'm using Windows XP, Packard Bell speakers (and headphones have the same problem too), and onboard audio as far as i'm aware.

Any help would be greatly appreciated! You may need to reinstall your motherboard chipset driver.
Reinstall sound driver afterwards.I have reinstalled all the drivers that came with my motherboard now, and still got the same problem. Any other ideas?Did you uninstall/reinstall sound drivers afterwards?I did that, it seemed to work but after a couple of minutes it was telling me no audio device detected again, and no sound was being produced Is it on-board sound? It may be going south.Yes I think so, I don't have an additional sound card if thats what you mean. The audio driver is Realtek HD Audio.

Its a fairly NEW Motherboard though. The only way to find out for sure, is to borrow a real sound card from a friend...Put in a new sound card the other day, and the problem has gotten better, in that it will give me sound most of the time, but still on occasions it will tell me No Audio Device detected, and I get nothing...Did you try another slot? One thing is...you arent killing a SVCHOST.EXE process in task manager? these processes are all related to different things in windows...one is apprearances, one is sound, and one is networking...and a fewmore...(hey this is off the top of my head )...any ways, as a temporary fix, try this.

Click Start > Run.

in the box type "SERVICES.msc" (without the quote marks)

when the big list of services appears, scroll through the list to find "Windows Audio" (It's in alphabetical order )

highlight it and on the side, note if it says service is stopped, running or started...if stopped, click start this service. if running, click restart this service and if that doesnt work, stop the service, then start it...and try to play audio after that just note this gets annoying so we still need to find a permanent fix

Solve : scanner re-install?

Answer»

Have HP 5550c scanner, no longer supported by HP. Uninstalled software to make room for new non-scanner stuff. Upon reinstall error message reads: "An error occurreed communicating with the scanning device. Please ensure that the scanning device is connected properly and try again."

HP has this error message in their archive, but the fix doesn't work for me.

I have downloaded their 'fix' software with no change. I have loaded the 'fix' on a second computer and the Scan function WORKS just fine.

I can scan using Control Panel, Scanners. I can copy using HP software that accompanies the scanning software.

My set-up is XP, SP2, Scanner VIA USB connection. Large number of software installs, but disk SPACE not an issue, and there is plenty of memory available.

I have uninstalled all Adobe software and all Omnipage software. Searched for all detritus which is now deleted.. Regedit to remove all Adobe and Omnipage entries. Scanner software reinstalled with scanner unplugged and USB connection separated at Scanner.

Does anyone know of any other software that might interfere with HP scanning software? Any other fixes?? I am trying desperately to avoid formatting and reinstalling everything again.
The scanner 'works' so I am hesitant to replace it with new.

Thanks. OG 327

I can scan using Control Panel, Scanners
How CAN'T you scan, then? The difference between Billy's scan result and an HP scan result is in the quality of the scan. There are no adjustments that are useful within #Windows scanning; HP is the polar opposite. What do use to scan? Maybe I'm missing something. OGSince you can scan from Control Panel, scanner itself seems to be working.
I assume, you reinstall some drivers/software from CD, which came with the scanner, right?
When you uninstalled, did you uninstall software, and scanner itself?
When you reinstalled, did you try to install software, first, before connecting scanner to the computer? The scanner and the software work when loaded on a second computer without the software inventory on my computer. The scanner works to copy and when run through Control panel, scanner.
The drivers are reinstalled with the updated downloaded software, yes.
During uninstall, the software and the hardware are removed, yes.
The software was reinstalled with the scanner unplugged form the 110v and the USB connector, yes.
This is not a hardware issue, nor, does it seem to be a pure software issue. It does seem to be that some computer setting, or a conflict with other software, is the issue, as all works when installed on a different computer. HTH OGGo Start>Run, type in:
services.msc
Click OK.
Find:
Windows Image Acquisition (WIA) service
Is it set to Automatic start?WIA: Status = Started; Startup Type - Automatic. OGOne more thing to try.
Uninstall software, then, uninstall scanner itself from Device Manager.
Shut down computer, disconnect scanner.
Turn computer on, and reinstall software. It should ask you, at some point to reconnect scanner.Same error message.

What other types of software WOULD compete with HP scanner software for access to the scanner hardware? I need to identify that software, de-install it, reinstall HP scanner software and expect the scanner and the software to TALK to each other. Solve : shutdown During WINXP installation?

Answer»

hi mate i have a strange problem with my pc. My motherboard brand ASUS TUSI-M with 256 mb memory...during XP installation its automatically shut down..What should i do to solve this problem..im a new memberHow far does it get?
Do you get the whole way through installation and then it reboots but never restarts?
Or does it immediately turn off when you START installation?

Is the hardware new? That is, has it ever run any operating SYSTEM before? There could be some odd hardware or high memory problem. Maybe BIOS overrides the memory CAS timing or similar. It wouldn't hurt to look through the BIOS to see if anything is not set to a default value for a GOOD reason. If you can burn a CD, you could download Memtest86 and use it to test the system's memory.

A failing or underpowered power supply could also do something like that.Is this a shiny MS XP CD with holograms all over it ? ?
256MG of RAM is gonna be painful...it actually may be hanging the install itself.

Solve : producing an object in Word 2000?

Answer»

I am preparing an article using Word2000 that I want to send in an email, copy to web sites and copy to a publisher. I have prepared a figure using the capabilities on the Drawing tool bar. The figure appears on the Print View but not on the Normal View. It disappears when copied to web sites and in emails. There is some mechanism to embed the figure in the Normal View in later versions of Word.define figure; is it a number? or a person?

is it a clipart you have drawn in word?

And what do you mean by later versions of word?

Not quite sure what you are dealing with and what you wish to do.

You want to see this 'figure' display on screen other than in print view and wish to know if it will display on other versions of word when you get it displaying on W2000?
I used the capabilities on the Drawing tool bar to produce a graph. I was advised that there was a CAPABILITY in the Draw menu that would enable me to make my graph an object. But this would not work on my Word2000 and the adviser said it worked for the Word that he had, which I presumed was a later version.Do you have Excel, also? If so, then I suggest you create your graph in Excel and copy it into Word. I've never tried to "draw" a graph in Word but, being an Excel user, I can't image doing that when I can use Excel for graphs.I do have Excel but I have had no experience with it. I have looked at the Chart Wizard and will now gain experience with it as I believe it will be worthwhile to become familiar with using Excel. Thanks for the suggestion.I have no acquired some experience with using Excel and producing Charts (graphs in my case) from it. I appreciate the suggestion that I use it. I now want to produce a fairly complex FLOW diagram. Should I learn how to use Power Point for that purpose or is there some more appropriate package?I don't have much experience with PowerPoint, so I'm not sure whether it would suit your purpose BETTER than other MS Office applications. Flow charting is another area where Excel can be used. I don't whether it's sophisticated enough in the flow charting area for your needs but I would suggest looking into it. Here's a hit from a Google search on flow charts with Excel: Using the Excel Flow Chart Template. And, you might find a useful template from http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/templates/CT101443491033.aspxI cannot download any of the suggested flowcharts because my system is Windows 98SE. I have Office 2000 and its Excel did not have any flowchart templates that I could find.If you do not have the Drawing toolbar displayed in Excel, add the toolbar and then look at the AutoShapes tool. It has flowcharting symbols for drawing a flowchart. Once you have started a flowchart with the Flowchart options under AutoShapes, you can change an "AutoShape" by clicking on Draw, Change AutoShape, Flowchart.

To display the Drawing toolbar, right click on a blank part of the toolbar at the top of Excel and select, i.e. click on, Drawing from the list of toolbars.

Try searching Help in your Excel on key words, draw flowchart, or something similar. Excel 2003 has Help info on this. I also have Excel 97 on an older computer. It has the flowchart drawing tools, but I found nothing in it's Help on drawing a flowchart.I had used the Drawing tool bar in Word and that did not have flowchart. The Excel I am working with does have it and the Help does does have help on flowchart. now I can get to work! thanks for your help!

if so,
use your 'roll-back / recover / restore' FUNCTION,
in other words,
go back to the day before you did the 'lame' copy-paste-save thing,
B-U-T
make sure anything you've done since is backed up,
because it sure will be gone!!!
Kristiane66: Did you try and do a file search yet if not try doing that to see if anything comes up.try looking here for a version of your document that has been auto saved.

Solve : Please help me with Office 2003 installation?

Hi,
I've lost my original CD for Office Pro 2003 but I need to reinstall it as
something seems to be corrupted.
I'm not TECHNICAL at all so need help/advice on what to do with a brown box
I have with Microsoft OEM System BUILDER Pack (Office Pro 2003 Win32 EN w/SP2
1pk DSP OEI CD) written on it. I was sent this directly by my insurance
company two years ago after I was burgled and my computer was stolen. I have
no idea what this is or what to do with it - system builder pack sounds scary
to me, so have never opened the box and it is still sealed.
Will this let me re-install it? And do I need ANYTHING else? The website
said something about preinstallation kits and I have no idea what they're on
about. I'm scared to try incase I mess up my computer. I'm quite desperate
and on the verge of throwing the *censored* thing out of the window as I urgently
need to get to reports I can't currently access.
Many thanks for any help/insights!
I suggest you call Microsoft Technical Support and describe what happened and what you have. They can walk you through the procedure based on the OEM disk and verify what you have.

They may DEEM the disk incompatible, or they may help you install what you have. I tried, but being sunday they're closed. I'll try them tomorrow, thanks.

Solve : AC3D Trial end?

Answer»

Hi,

I wasn't sure whether to post this in the programming section or not so here goes.

I have been using DarkBasic Pro to make basic games, as well as using Invis AC3D as a 3D modelling program.

My problem is that the trial period is now over and I can no longer use AC3D software. It is important that I can because I have an assignment due in next week which i cannot complete without the AC3D modelling software.

So if you could either;

A) Suggest another (free) program that can do 3D modelling, and export objects in a number of formats, specifically DirectX (.x file extension).

or

B) Show me how to bypass the trial period on the AC3D software. I have tried numerous THINGS that do not work, uninstalling and reinstalling, removing data from the program files, removing the REGISTRY entries, changing the system date in the BIOS but none of them seem to work.

Your help would be much appreciated, thanks. Or C) Pay for the program.

Thanks for the help.Any ideas? Save some money.

You're probably not going to find too many free programs that are going to do what you want them to do.

All of the following programs are free. Some are still beta. All found on the first two pages of a Google search for "free 3d modelling". Google is great, you can find stuff all over the web. Try it sometime.
