I'm trying to access a National Library and Archives website but the search results always SHOW up BLANK, as if there is a picture that should load but will not load. I've TRIED using Chrome, Firefox, Edge on this laptp. I've also tried via Safari on the phone as WELL as Chrome and Firefox on a MAC computer. I have had no SUCCESS on any device, however, my professor says he is able to view results without issue so the problem must be somewhere on my end.

I bought a new Lenovo ideapad. I had one before. This one and the OLD one touch pad are so sensitive, some TIME it a pain. I have adjusted the sensitivity as high as it will go., it is still way to sensitive. If I hover over the pad, it will react. Is there any THING else that can be done? THANK You badheart

My SERVICE provider replaced my modem and now my Ipod won't connect to my wifi.
All other devices, phones, ipad etc. will with no problem.
I tried disconnecting my modem and plugging it back in and that seemed to work until
the next time I used my ipod.
Now it says the modem PASSWORD is not recognized.
I don't really want to KEEP unplugging the modem because I then have to RESET my netflix and other PAID tv channels.
Any suggestions?

have an extreme week !Every computer has a clipboard. It's where things go when you choose 'copy' or 'cut', and it's where they come from when you choose 'paste'. Expanding on what Salmon said... Press PRINT SCREEN to take a screenshot which will put it into a special memory location called the CLIPBOARD.  Open a program capable of displaying images such as MS Paint.  Select PASTE and the screen shot will be pasted from the CLIPBOARD to MS Paint.hello strollin,

   if you are just looking to get a photo off youtube I love the snippet tool. look under your start menu type snippet. I am Windows 7 too and I did not realize it's ancient, is it? Here is what I do:

1. press the "PRT Sc Sys Rq" button to the upper right of keyboard
2. use Photoshop (or MS Paint would do which is DEFAULT under Start menu)
3. select File > New
4. select Edit > Paste
5. select File > Save As

mi device is an RCA 2 in one tablet that runs windows 10 home, the model is W101SA23T1
The keys works but they DONT do what they normaly do, for example, if I press alt+ F4 it would try to CLOSE a program, it dosent do anything.
but if I press the F4 key alone it mutes the tablet, I think that is something that is ment to happend only when you press FN+F4. the FN key does not do anything in combination with any other function key. i tried a lot of things in TUTORIALS, including presing F11 or F12, searching for an option that enable the functions keys on the BIOS( I did not find the same option on my version of BIOS), even checking in the windows settings settings, the last option that I found but choose not to use was UPDATING the drivers of the keyboard but i found that useless, because its not old, but i dont know i hope SOMEONE knows the answer

I just bought my wife a new Amazon Fire tablet. It was to replace a Galaxy thatI dropped and broke. Same size. One very big difference. MIRE lock screen Ads.
This Ads are hard to close, yu have to find the EXACT little area where yu can push them up. Every time yu start the thing, some adolescent Ad pops up. Even when if goes into sleep mode.

Friend of MINE has 2 computers and I gave him a batch file that saves a copy of his data from each computer onto a shared FOLDER on the other system. All was going well with it until he started deleting data that was no longer needed and while the local data folder it was gone, the shared folder on the other computer kept all files and folders, and so it started making a build up of Trash Data within these folders.

He asked me if there was a easy way to fix this. Easiest would be to blow away all the data at the shared path and copy over a new copy of the data. However this would be inefficient as for files and folders that DONT need to be removed would be removed and then have to transfer over again to the neighboring computer making for a lengthy update to the shared backup location located on the other computer.

I was wondering if anyone has any suggestions either in batch or vbs or maybe an ALREADY existing software product out there that might be better than his current batch to replicate a copy of the C:\Data folder onto the X:\Data mapped network share. I have basically right now an XCOPY /s/d/y/h performing an update to the neighboring system where System1 at C:\Data xcopies the data to X:\Data which is a shared folder on System2. And System2 has an xcopy from C:\Data to a shared folder mapped to X:\Data on System1. The folder that is shared is named XDATA so C:\Data is the local data for that system and C:\XData is a copy of the other computers data.

Thinking about this, I was thinking it might be able to be achieved in batch by performing a compare between C:\XData of System2 and C:\Data of System1 and when file not found at C:\Data of System1 then it gets appended to a list of files to remove from C:\XData of System2 as a clean up process. And other way around for the other computer. However this would be able to remove files that are no longer wanted BUT then you could still have orphan folders after the files are removed from them. So a process would need to also remove orphan folders.

So looking for assistance with this one as to how to best deal with this vs the easiest but not very efficient process of a monthly complete inefficient purge to blow the entire file/folder contents away and bring over a fresh copy as a trash data cleanup process.  Hi Dave

robocopy with the /MIR  switch sounds like what would be desired. it will copy everything from source to destination but will also delete files or directories that exist in the target location but are not PRESENT in the source folder.

You may be able to just do a drop in replacement of your xcopy command in the batch file(s) with robocopy using the /MIR switch.Cool ... Thank You both for your help with this.

Going to check out the unstoppable copier. Never heard of it before and it sounds pretty cool.

BC's solution looks like the easiest and best to implement for this issue with cleanup. I wasn't aware of robocopy's /MIR switch. Very Cool!

They say  it is built into windows 10 .  NOT
You have to do CONVOLUTED things to get it WORK in Windows 10.  That is not acceptable. I only have average intellect. I do not 'get it' from a fuzzy you tube video.

Here's my personal recommendation. Do not buy Dragon Naturally Speaking unless you REALLY need it. If you must, first try a older version found on eBay. Version 12 sells for a fraction of  the costs and is almost as good. I go tit for under $29 with SHIPPING. And it had a headset in the package with the CD.

I have used DNS for years to both read to me and to take dictation. It work sgood. Just over priced,in my opinion.

I'm attempting to do a recovery on two different machines attached to drive to another unit running Windows and moving the files across the network to a blank Drive but before I can FORMAT the drive I need to locate the necessary sticky files that I had created on the desktop which I cannot locate where the root file is where they're kept I'm Google then been finding that it TELLS you where the file is if you're running Windows on that unit however I am attempting a recovery so I cannot access the drive directlyHave you looked here? Posting this to "Other" subforum due to facing multiple issues not only Windows or software matters

I just FINISHED my first build ever, which is nothing to boast about but it was a very exciting experience for me . That said, Ive run into some issues now and I thought maybe someone smarter could help me out.

Running Windows 10 Pro

Hardware installation was smooth and went fine, the PC actually booted up the first time I pressed the power button so that's something.

I followed it up by installing windows 10 pro from a bootable usb drive and after that THINGS got a bit tricky.

The following is what I did, step by step:

1. Installed all the windows updates
2. Installed Intel chipset drivers from https://www.msi.com/Motherboard/support/MPG-Z390-GAMING...
3. Followed that up from the same link with IRST drivers, Intel VGA, Intel Network drivers and Realtek HD Universal drivers
4. Installed Nvidia drivers for rtx2070

I there anything Im missing? Should I go ahead and find any other drivers?

The problems im currently facing are the following:

1. In BIOS dRAM frequency shows as 2400mhz, although I have 3200mhz ram. Is dRam something different? Should I do anything about this?
2. PC gets some serious lag spikes, to the point of freeezing for 10-30 seconds even when just idling or using an internet browser. This bit seems incredibly weird.
3. Internet connection, using Chrome, seems insanely slow (300 Mbit ethernet connection). Troubleshooting network adapters gives a message stating "Windows could not automatically DETECT this network's proxy settings". Googled the issue and followed steps given but this hasn't fixed the issue. Am I missing something? Wrong driver issue?

All the help is greatly appreciated. Also, any additional help is appreciated regarding on what to do next with a fresh install, what msi software to install if any and any general TIPS on what i've missed when finishing the build helps out too.

If you are getting errors loading windows first check the date and time are set correctly.
Then check the HARD drives with a program disk LIKE this http://hddguru.com/software/2005.10.02-MHDD/
This program will help DIAGNOSE the condition of the hard drives.


 

Not sure where this should be POSTED. I PRESUME here. Hope I can make myself understood. Who ever did this to my laptop is real smart. For about the pasted week or so. When I go to say Amazon, YouTube and other web sites. When I get there and with out me doing any thing else. A web site will show up, Such as. Fandango. Palm Beach Post, USAA and etc. I have looked these sites over and over. Can not see a place to delete at all. I found out the only way to delete is to shut off my laptop and reboot. I am wondering if any one out there. Has had the same problem. If so or if not. Any suggestions. Thank you. Install MALWAREBYTES and run a full scan. I have a feeling you will find that you have a browser infection that is causing all this and Malwarebytes should be ABLE to remove the infection and make everything better again. This is still beneficial without real-time protection as for if you get infected it can still clean up most of the problems.

I wanted to start playing old computer games again but not sure what computer i should get to get the games to work. I wanted to PLAY roller coaster tycoon, the original version and zoo tycoon 2. I PLAN to buy an OLDER computer just not sure if someone can point me in the DIRECTION of one that could play both of these games.Definitely a good operating system that has very good compatibility (in my experiences) is Windows XP. I was able to play games like Red Alert Two with absolutely no problems. Considering Roller Coaster Tycoon was released about only one year before to RA2, I can safely say that Windows XP supports it. As for Zoo tycoon, Windows XP was released in April of 2001, while Zoo Tycoon was released in October of the same year, so compatibility will definitely be great for that one.

Ok, now that I have pointed you to the operating system you should use, you next goal would be trying to find hardware that games like that support, and the operating system itself supports. Now, I had an uncle who had a perfect, and I mean perfect link between modern computing and older retro games. It was reasonably fast and did not have any problems even by today's standards, and I regret taking it APART and trashing the motherboard because it did not pick up any of my keystrokes. That was a while back when I was 13 and just starting out with computers. If only I would've known. 

Anyways! I hope that you find yourself a computer that fits your needs. It doesn't have to be what I told you but, when it comes to gaming, Windows XP is a good option, because if you need to use it to look something up really quick online, you can still do that.

I download my pictures to the pc, edit, and place in a folder such as People, floral, insects etc, then if I want to send a picture to a website  I do so by opening the appropriate folder, usually there is no problem,  however sometimes the folder is not there, and some of the folders now have a C in brackets behind the title and will not open, with a note saying the folder may have been moved,  it is extremely frustrating for a novice like me, any help would be very much appreciated. PS, windows 7, Google Chrome, and photoscape EDITOR are what I use.what software are you using to look at those list of photos?
sounds like it may be Picaso or something similar.
try using Windows Explorer (Windows key + E is the keyboard shortcut) to start it.

perhaps a screenshot may shed more light on it all.

I use PkotoScape, when after editing I clik save, in the drop down box I have to SELECT a folder but often the folder I want is not LISTED, frustrating. I was thinking a shot of this "C in brackets behind the title" may be better presented as a image rather than described.

My  computer has enough problems that I don't want to ask an expert to take the time to solve them.  Can I use Dban to wipe my computer clean and then  reinstall Windows 7.  I would have to buy a Windows 7 disk but that would be cheaper than using a repair shop to fix all my problems.    Is my reasoning correct or am I missing SOMETHING?     BobDBAN is designed to remove all traces of data for if you are selling or disposing of the machine, you don't need to use it to just reinstall the OS for yourself, just format it from the Windows 7 DVD, way faster than DBAN.

As far as buying the DVD, you can only get it along with a new Windows licence which is incredibly expensive.  You would be better off trying to find a DVD with the same edition of Windows 7 as yours that you can borrow and then use your product key to install it.  Alternatively if you don't mind moving to 10 at the same time, you should be able to create a Windows 10 install DVD and use your Windows 7 product key with this: http://www.thewindowsclub.com/windows-10-media-creation-tool-create-installation-media-upgrade.If he has the window 7 product key he can download the Windows 7 ISO file from Microsoft period after downloading the ISO file he can MAKE it into a bootable DVD and use it to install Windows 7 on his computer. As was said the Windows DVD does a good job of ERASING a partition and installing the operating system correctly. The only problem is when the hard disk drive itself has suffered severe damage. Otherwise the DVD is the correct way to install Windows 7. Wipe out his not needed.Hi  -         
To those who replied  - Thank you.  However I solved my problem before I read your REPLIES.  As a last resort read the manual!!  I did and found out that Lenovo has a program that returns the computer to its orignal.  I did that and now in the prosess of PUTTING my files back. I have a huawei windows 8 phone, I BACKED up my files and did a reset.  Now when I try and RESTORE my files, it KEEPS failing and won't restore them :/

I've had this computer for several years now, I just recently cleaned it last night and have been having this problem ever since. I'll power on my computer from sleep mode and the power supply fan starts running really loud and won't slow down. It sounds like my harddrive revs up too but my monitors won't turn on and there is no response from the keyboard or mouse. The cd drive works as well in this state. Holding down the button for a few seconds to power it off doesn't help either. When trying to turn it on again it just does the same thing. I've also unplugged my computer for a few seconds and plugged it back in again but that didn't work either. The only thing that works I've found is completely unplugging my computer from all cables and clean it again. I don't know if its the ACTUAL act of GETTING dust out or the fact that my computer doesn't have any power for several minutes but this is a new issue and it has me completely baffled. I have had this problem TWICE since cleaning my computer and only when leaving it in sleep mode for several hours.

Rather that do major work on this, would rather just do a workaround?

If you normally start your PC the same TIME each  day, just go into the computer firmware (BIOS) and select a daily start time. Works for me. Saves power consumption.

The main reason for using sleep or standby options are to reduce power consumption.
The argument that that  equipment will last longer if it does  sleep mode has not been well documented. More often, users REPORT missus with sleep mode.

Rule #1...don't use any Windows power saving features...
They have been miserable since Day 1.
Instead learn your own habits for power control....

Basically I got an old imagePress Q1 which is aparently a server computer thing used for printing high quality pics. basically I wanted to turn it into a minecraft server but don't know the first thing about it like I'm not sure what operating system it has (I think under windows 7 vista) or if it has wifi connecting capabilities or the hardware to run a minecraft server. I am using this because I want to portforward my server (is that how you say it?) and it doesn't let you play on server from the computer that's running the server if you do that so basically if someone could help me or at least point me to somewhere which could then that would be great. According to here it's an old Pentium 4 based machine with 1gb RAM running XP embedded - https://www.developersupport.canon.com/content/imagepress-server-q1.  You may be able to use it if you install a new OS on it but it's really not that powerful (equivalent of a basic desktop PC from 2003).  That spec of machine can probably run a Minecraft server for a few users but it will struggle if you have any real number of users.  Also bear in mind that a Pentium 4 is extremely power hungry so the cost of electricity to run that thing if you plan on leaving it on 24/7 will be PRETTY high.

I can't see why you can't play the game on the same machine that is running the server, you may just need to use "localhost" as the IP ADDRESS on that one machine rather than your external IP address that everyone else is connecting to.Sorry I've taken so long to reply.... Thanks I just noticed it had 4.3 or something ghz processing speed so I thought it might be good for something like a server (also says server in it's name...) Would you reckon that you could use it for something else like a pc or basically anything not printing related?

Also you were right about using local host to connect to my server, It just wasn't working when I tried to connect using my external ip and when I asked about it on the minecraft forum I was told that you cant connect to your server if you're portforwading from that same computer.
Thanks for the help Also you were right about using local host to connect to my server, It just wasn't working when I tried to connect using my external ip and when I asked about it on the minecraft forum I was told that you cant connect to your server if you're portforwading from that same computer.

Port forwarding should be happening at your router if your hosting this for others to connect to.  Then if its being served on the same machine that also you will be gaming with, it would be a call to ExternalIPAddress:portnumber such as
67.108.96.122:8077
where port 8077 is the port open and forwarded in your router for the traffic to channel through. On your system that your hosting it on you then would need a firewall exception that allows traffic on port 8077 to GET through.

However if your playing it on the same system that is hosting it you can also get to it by 127.0.0.1 which is the home IP address for that system. Or 127.0.0.1:8077 or whatever port number your using. I put 8077 just as an example, not specific to minecraft server serving.

So others would connect through your external IP address and they might need to specify port number if using a port number that is not the default that minecraft operates on. Whereas you could simply get there at 127.0.0.1 from the system that is both serving it up as well as running the game.

I agree with cameron that the P4 system is kind of not worth using as a server unless you absolutely had to. An example is that I have a 7 year old netbook that runs on 13 watts of power and its running an Intel Atom 1.66Ghz 1 core with HT so it looks like 2 cores. This system benchmarks the same as a Pentium 4 2.53Ghz and the Pentium 4 consumes 126 watts of power to achieve the same goal if run as a server. So there is 113 watts wasted with it operating per hour. So a day its wasting 2712 Watts if its used as a 24/7 server. So take 2.7 kW and multiply that by how many days it will be running and price per kWh and you will see how it will all add up FAST and add to electric bill.

Also if your hosting for more than just a couple of people the P4 or even Intel Atom in my case would struggle to deal with all the handles maintaining multitasking juggle.

I havent served up Minecraft, but I have other games like UT99 etc and the more people connected and more advanced the virtual world to serve up, the more processing power & network bandwidth you will need to keep people from lagging out.

You might want to look at your internet speed if your planning on hosting with more than3 people joined with you as for your UPLOAD speed is critical! Additionally if anyone else is using the internet in the home for streaming etc, it will directly impact the users connected to your server.

Years ago I thought I'd save myself money by hosting my own Ventrillo Voice Communication Service for friends. I was able to get 5 people connected to my Ventrillo for free for gaming. It worked perfectly fine and I was so excited I didnt have to pay any money for the service, BUT when other people in my home were using the Vonage VoIP phone and streaming watching Netflix at the same time, it caused my Ventrillo quality to dive. Peoples voices would cut out or it would lag. I finally just paid a monthly fee for a Ventrillo service provider and then had the ability to have 10 people connected under the cheapest plan available. I was running a Ventrillo Voice Server on an old HP computer with a Celeron 500Mhz and 384MB RAM. The system in this case was actually fine for all it did when running, in which i would shut it off after we games since no sense hosting it when not needed, but my bandwidth was the issue.Yeah in that case I'd probably only get 2 or 3 people on my server with no lag due to my internet which is not the best... I mainly just wanted something I could just boot up every now and again to do stuff with 3-5 friends or something like that, luckily the other people using the internet dont't use much and barely ever upload lots of data so I might get 4 people on running smoothly.. possibly. guess I'll just leave the Q1 thing in the garage

I play it with vlc with no problems. But after I copy/move the folder of the movie to another location( I tried on hdd partition and USB) the player does not play it as I do at the first time and this error appears:

Is there a special way to move such these files? Because I tried many ways to transfer the folder but in avain.

The Second question:
The original movie has no subtitle but caption:

I use the software "Handbrake" to merge the files into one file(*.mp4) but I don't know how to make the caption appears automatically(static) since I want to upload the movie on our group study. How can I solve this?

From only my own experience, the DVD files can not be readily merged.  They are part of a set.

If you wish to watch the movies on a PC or Tablet, you would:
1.) covet each DVD set to a  single AVI files. One AVI for each DVD.
2. ) Put in AVI files in a folder of your choice.

Some  Tablets and Smartphones stablest will not play AVI, in that cawse3 you would make MP4 instead of AVI.

Conversion of the DVD to a another file format can cause slight loss of sharpness.

Was reading this article below after talking with a PERSON about data rot.

A number of CD-R's that I burned back around 2002 have started to discolor and some of them that were kept in a binder in the trunk of my car that was exposed to extreme heat/cold, as well as humidity fluctuations didnt fare too well over the years.

Fortunately most of these read fine to copy the data off of them to be burned to DVD-R's, however 2 CD-R's that I crammed as much data onto as possible have data loss at the outer edge of the CD-R's where the aluminum has been eaten away and when holding the CD-R up to the light you can see the metal missing with pin holes of light shining through even though the plastic surface of the CD-R was well kept without getting scratched etc.

The good thing is that the data that I crammed onto the 2 damaged CD-R's is not critical, but it made me dig out my CD-R archive of data and inspect others for damage or discoloration. It seems as though only the ones that were in a binder in the trunk of my car had this data rot fortunately, but data in my archive that I dont WANT to lose such as pictures of my daughter from 2004 when she was born I have backed up in multiple locations such as on a DVD-R and External Hard Drive to be sure that I will not lose them etc.

As of TYPING this I also realize that I have family videos on 8mm tape that I also need to digitize with video/audio capture device and roll it forward to DVD-R to not lose those moments.

I have watched all 8 seasons of BONES of NETFLIX. For some reason they do not have season 9. But if I Google it, some sites claim that have it. So I went to FOX and they do not have the full season. Just the last 8 EPISODES.

One hint: K RAILWAY ABCDSurely getting someone else to do it is cheating...Given the structure is in 5 character segments as a constant and not coded with number of characters per break REPRESENTING the actual character count per word. You would really need a key. This could be a very complex coded message if every 5 character group had its own key for example. For this you would need a key guidebook to decode each group according to the key in the book for that batch of 5 character place holder. This is just a shift by 1 character place forward in alphabet, but even if it was coded more complex, at least you would know that in a 2 character group one of the characters is likely a Vowel and the other is a Consonant. Mom and I currently have a phone/internet bill from AT&T that runs around $70 a month and a cable bill that's about that as well. The Comcast wouldn't be as high, but we rent a DVR!!! And the DVR is necessary in our case. I trimmed our channel packages down to where we could get our 2 fave channels, but we do miss seeing a couple of others.
I see these bundle packages they offer where you can get tv (cable), internet, and phone for one price, but they do not tell you about the hidden fees (such as renting their modem!!!) And then when the special price period is over, who knows what the price will be?! I've even wondered if I got cable internet and tv only if I could drop the AT&T all together and use "Basic Phone" or "Magic Jack". But I'm afraid that if I do SOMETHING like that and it goes to he**, it would be expensive to get everything back how it was and then I'd have to deal with Mom's reproachful remarks, as we share the expenses.........

Has anyone played around with Chrome OS on unofficial x86 systems?

Looking to expose myself to Google Chrome OS without spending money on a Chromebook because I dont need an additional computer to the many ( 14 ) that I already have.

Back in 2002 when Lindows came out there was only 1 client who accidentally bought one based solely on the cheap price tag, but when he wanted to install software to it that required Windows, he quickly found out that his Lindows OS computer was not able to serve the purpose he bought it for. On top of that the hardware that was this build was a low end processing power Via C3 800Mhz CPU and so he pretty much bought a VIA C3 Snail instead of a Pentium 4 Rabbit for processing power hardware with a Turtle being the Celeron's back in the day. For some reason he was unable to return it to walmart and owned it. He tried to sell it for 1/2 what he paid for it and no one would bite at it. And eventually he spent more money to GET a better Athlon XP CPU system, and he gave this Lindows computer to his nephew to have. The nephew ended up installing Windows Me on it from what I was told but couldnt do much gaming on it so it was even short lived with him, but free is free for a working computer.

The Lindows was a complete failure OS, and Walmart soon stopped selling systems with Lindows.

I expected Google ChromeOS to follow this same failure as for you have people who need Windows or Mac OS and then those who want Linux are generally those who are educated enough to put it on their own systems and support themselves.

Google ChromeOS was also being installed on low processing power hardware which is the same as the Lindows systems that were released around 2002. And I expected a repeat in history.

BUT ChromeOS systems seem to have been far more accepted than that of Lindows 12 years ago, and so I am now getting questions from multiple users of Chromebooks of how do you do this and that, and I simply state to them that I'd perform a google SEARCH on how to do that and there should be plenty of info to assist you, because I myself havent been exposed to ChromeOS yet to be able to assist directly.

So after the 5th request for assistance and one guy turning on his Chromebook and asking me questions in which I was looking at the GUI totally new to the ChromeOS, I was talking to him and came right on out and stated this is the first time I have played with ChromeOS, so I am going to poke around to see if I can find an answer to your question, but the feature could have been hidden anywhere in the OS. I realized that ChromeOS MAY be an OS to stay and evolve and that I better expose myself to it to be able to support it.

I found online this site that offers download of ChromeOS built to run on various hardware and I am going to check it out on a spare computer I have. It just requires a 4GB flash drive to install. I am hoping it can run live off of the USB drive, but we will see.

My  soon to be ex-son in law , put my WIFE's LAP top , with windows 7 , on a proxy server . It had some ad-ware on it ( thanks to my grandson ) . My wife tried to run a " Malwarebytes anti-malware version "  program that was installed on the computer . Now a screen POPS up saying " can't connect to proxy server "
I just want to put in normal running condition . We don't think it even needs a proxy server . I imagine it was to do something illegal anyway .We found the ANSWER . She went through the control panal and eventually found a window to uncheck .

They have the CPU that I have been waiting on buying for a year now and it has only gone down by $10 from the $199.99 to $189.99 and that is claimed to be a bottomed-out price? Since May 2013 I have seen this same CPU offered on a sale as cheap as $159.99 in which I almost jumped on buying it and multiple times it had a instant $30 off sale for $179.99.

I just can't believe I saw this CPU in the Bottomed-out offerings when its far from bottomed out in price!

If it were $149.99 maybe you can say its bottomed out based on price/performance, but not $189.99 which is more expensive than all other prior sale offerings and rebates.

I know that the price tags float on supply/demand ( and what people are willing to pay ) but I think the price tag is starting to become INFLATED against what an aged CPU should really be priced at. I am willing to pay $150 possibly, but not a penny more.

I suppose if I had an extreme need to have this CPU and couldnt get by with less, I'd just pay the price tag, but for the fact that I am able to get by with drastically lesser processing power, I can hold out for the price to come down and buy upgrades as they are placed on clearance when being phased out etc, however at this pace, it makes me wonder if it will be another year or two before this CPU drops to a price tag I am willing to pay for this CPU, and if the price will never really bottom out, but eventually the supply will DRY up in which it becomes out-of-stock permanently. With all other CPU's FOLLOWED and PURCHASED they generally drop by at least 25% from the original price tag before phasing out. But this one may be one that doesnt. 

That CPU is one of the most powerful CPUs currently available, and is still AMDs current and latest GENERATION.

Because it is the latest generation, demand will not go down until they announce the next generation of Processors they have planned.

I've just had an email saying my password has been forgotten, along with a link to set a new one. The IP address isn't mine, so it seems someone has tried to ACCESS my ACCOUNT. For what purpose is beyond me; why WOULD someone want to access a dormant account?

Should I ignore the email, or set a new password ANYWAY just in case? (Luckily, I knew what my password was from all those years ago )

some sites seem to behave differently.  I us GOM PICKER as a downloader   I have now switched to 4k   and it downloads reasonably well on windows 7.    but alternately when downloading a program update or a video from SBS on Demand (Free to public)  it takes forever. Maybe this is an issue with the provider of the video.   Regarding separate computer TESTS   NEC (old LAPTOP) xp GOM PIcker WORKS fine.  ALso on Vista adsl 2 works fine.  on windows 7 (same connection wireless) as the NEC takes ages.  e.g. 10 times longer than xp and vistA.    the  4k downloader is a little slower than GOM Picker but works on windows 7. So probably the downloader. I cant explain why shareware and other items take so long.  For some reason I had a thought that NBN Wireless 25mbs would be faster in all cases but it isn't.   Righto.   Comparison.

32 bit  internet exploer         same file                                    finished.  e.g. around 6 minutes.

this suggests around 24 minutes for 64 bit internet explorer    and 6 minutes for 32 bit downloading the same file.
