Solve : Problems with installing apps in Windows 10 - Caused by the Trojan wlanext.exe?!? |
Answer» Hello Folks! - I've got this pretty tricky Windows 10 Problem. A few weeks ago I suddenly discovered that my PC got hot every time I had it logged online, so I opened the Task Manager where I saw that the processor was charged by as much as 35%!(AMD) although I only had a browser running. When I scrolled down the list of running applications I saw an unknown clown-like icon - the application was named wlanext.exe - I have not seen it before and had no idea what it was for. This application alone used about 25%! of the processor power. After reading a little about it here on the web, I have understood that I'm not the only one who has been visited by this clown. Some experts say that it's completely harmless, and others that it's not - it's a Trojan! and it should be removed. I have now also understood that it is completely harmless to have C/windows/system32/wlanext.exe present - but C/windows/wmu3/wlanext.exe is not! ...and it should be removed. Inside the wmu3 folder there's also another small application called ZeroConfigService.exe - it can also (after what I have understood) be removed - so just go ahead and remove the wmu3-folder and everything that's in it! What is quite disturbing here is that an updated Windows Defender did not give any notice about the fact that these applications were present - and active! in the system! despite, several thorough runs. Is this something Microsoft has approved?- or are they in on this? ...I'm just asking However, another well-known applications did a great job - the intruders was quickly discovered and swept out! Now, after these applications have been removed, my computer is no longer a heat source in the house But I still wonder what they did here, where they've come from, and how they got in here. In my search for these invaders, I accidentally managed to PARTLY delete a small application. No big problem, I thought - I just have to remove the rest and do a reinstall, I have everything I need - the installer and otherwise all the other stuff I got sent when it was purchased ...installation code and sn etc. But it wasn't at all that simple. The application was reinstalled in the usual way, the registry dialog provided with a code/sn and user name - and then ...Hurray! it was up and running! Now everything seemed to be back to NORMAL again. I closed it - but to be absolutely sure that everything was really back in order, I restarted it, just to discover that it was not - I only got a new dialog for registration! - covering the application interface. So I went through the same reg-stuff once again, with the same result ...and a few more times, but no, every time I had to enter code/sn and user name etc. to get it started - and when it did, it was neither as a DEMO nor a trial, but quite normal - just as it has always been. I then contacted the company I had bought the application from, and gave them the same story i have told here. From them the message was clear, everything I had done was absolutely right - now it should have run as normal. They offered generously to send me the latest version - but the result was still negative. Then I tried with another application, from another manufacturer, same procedure - but also here with the same negative result - it simply wouldn't let itself register! It now seems that applications installed before I got visited by wlanext.exe and ZeroConfigService.exe, WORKS perfectly normal. But now it's simply just not POSSIBLE to register installed programs! So I'm left with a bad feeling that this mess is what ZeroConfigService.exe and wlanext.exe have left behind - pretty badly done! I have very little desire to get started with a full new installation of the OS etc. - pretty bad experience with almost endless, forced and unstable windows 10 updates would be the main reason ...no wonder I have windows Update Stop! installed here. So it's with great thanks to all I welcome both thoughts and speculations around these problems ...and for what reason I ended up getting them - and of course, suggestions on what I can do to get this Windows 10 installation fresh again. Eric PS I have tried a little with the windows 10 tools - also, the registry have been checked and defragmented with the Windows 10 Manager. S O L V E D ! ...and thanx for helping out. |

Solve : Windows 10 audio jack problem? |
Answer» I got a new Razer Kraken with an aux input and the aux audio splitter into 2 3.5 mm aux inputs. I plugged them in and no sound came out. I messed around ALOT with my windows sound settings to no RELIEF so i looked online. I realized that the problem might be linked to my missing realtek HD audio driver. I tried for hours to install my realtek drivers but no matter what i did it would only put a file into my downloads with no driver in sight on the device MANAGER. I already looked for the UAA BUS whatever its called that sometimes conflicts with realtek but i dont have it in my device manager either. I plugged in my headphones into another device and they worked both with and without the splitter. I also tried plugging in a speaker through the aux into my computer's audio jack to no success. I've done all of the above using the headset with/without the splitter and in both front and back audio JACKS. Please Help! To speed things up can you download speccy https://www.ccleaner.com/speccy/download/standard |

Solve : Windows 10 resolution changes after restart to default? |
Answer» Windows 10 was fine few days ago and everything was alright and no problems until someday, I noticed that my laptop shut down itself then when I restarted it, I got that automating repair thing, and I kept getting it everytime I restart the laptop, so I knew the laptop had problems and I had to format it and reinstall windows 10, after reinstalling windows 10, I tried to install the updates which contain my 2 GPUs (Intel HD Graphics 3000 and AMD Radeon 7400M) and after that the resolution changed to 1600x900 which is my screen's resolution, but after the updates finished, they required me to restart the laptop so I did but after I did, laptop passed the spinning wheel of windows and after that, the screen went BLACK and the logon screen didn't come, so I had to restart it, and everytime I restart it, the screen is black as I said, so I did a system restore and everything worked but the resolution was the default one. I wonder where you are getting the windows 10 drivers from as HP didn't write drivers for the HP ProBook 4730s running windows 10. And the drivers from microsoft cause your problem.I actually got the drivers from HP and I selected windows 8.1 version, not w10 but the thing is I don't know where to get the drivers, could you help me please? When i google "HP ProBook 4730s problems running windows 10" I get 1000's of hits with problems and no solutions. The Laptop has SUPPORT for windows 7 or 8, you need to run either of those 2 versions for reliable operation or look for another laptop which is supported to run Windows 10. Quote from: Lisa_maree on May 16, 2020, 04:39:47 PM When i google "HP ProBook 4730s problems running windows 10" I get 1000's of hits with problems and no solutions. The Laptop has support for windows 7 or 8, you need to run either of those 2 versions for reliable operation or look for another laptop which is supported to run Windows 10.The thing is that everything was working properly before even when using windows 10 so I think what you said is wrongSo load Windows 7 or 8.1 from the HP recovery partition or the recovery disks. As shown here https://support.hp.com/nz-en/document/c01867418 Don't expect a generic Windows with you installing the drivers is going to work use the HP INSTALLATION . Then do the upgrade to Windows 10, but run windows 10 without doing any updates. Because as soon as you install the updates for windows 10 you will start having problems. Your Laptop is not supported to run Windows 10. If you are not sure of my advice then perhaps contact Microsoft or HP or read the posts on the net. Quote from: Lisa_maree on May 16, 2020, 07:40:21 PM So load Windows 7 or 8.1 from the HP recovery partition or the recovery disks. As shown here https://support.hp.com/nz-en/document/c01867418Seems like my laptop doesn't support windows 10 but thanks for the help anyways Quote from: Lisa_maree on May 16, 2020, 07:40:21 PM So load Windows 7 or 8.1 from the HP recovery partition or the recovery disks. As shown here https://support.hp.com/nz-en/document/c01867418and by the way, if I install windows 8.1 and then after that I install windows 10 and when I disable the updates in windows 10, will my laptop be back to normal? Quote from: Lisa_maree on May 16, 2020, 07:40:21 PM So load Windows 7 or 8.1 from the HP recovery partition or the recovery disks. As shown here https://support.hp.com/nz-en/document/c01867418Now I know what's the problem, I installed windows 8.1 x64 and after that, I installed intel hd graphics 3000 driver from windows update and it went fine, then when I tried to install the AMD driver that I got from HP site I believe, it detected the driver as AMD 7470m while mine is 7400m, and after that the black screen came so the whole problem is in the AMD driver, do you know where I could FIND an AMD Radeon 7400m driver for windows 8.1 x64? And it's still the same problem, even when I installed windows 8.1 and then I tried to install the drivers from windows update and also from the HP site but the black screen doesn't wanna leave me alone, I ran out of ideas and idk the fix tbhPlease read back thru my posts. In brief. You need to load the HP install for the laptop either windows 7 or 8.1. Not a generic windows with you installing the drivers yourself. Then you will know if the AMD graphics is being enabled when needed, and that it hasn't failed which is likely given the age of the Laptop and that it is AMD graphics. Once again if you don't believe me then google re solder amd graphics chip. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w37QV0EZXQI At this stage since you haven't loaded the HP installation you don't know if it is a hardware fault (Most likely) or a driver issue. But If I do so, I'm gonna lose my files on the drive D, right? Quote from: Senior16 on May 15, 2020, 02:18:50 PM Windows 10 was fine few days ago and everything was alright and no problems until someday, I noticed that my laptop shut down itself then when I restarted it, I got that automating repair thing, and I kept getting it everytime I restart the laptop, so I knew the laptop had problems and I had to format it and reinstall windows 10, after reinstalling windows 10, I tried to install the updates which contain my 2 GPUs (Intel HD Graphics 3000 and AMD Radeon 7400M) and after that the resolution changed to 1600x900 which is my screen's resolution, but after the updates finished, they required me to restart the laptop so I did but after I did, laptop passed the spinning wheel of windows and after that, the screen went BLACK and the logon screen didn't come, so I had to restart it, and everytime I restart it, the screen is black as I said, so I did a system restore and everything worked but the resolution was the default one. I have read your original post again and i would go back to the diagnoses that the laptop can't use the display drivers on windows 10, this is well documented. And there seems no cure. The Laptop is stuck as windows 7/8.1 vintage. |

Please explain more your aim !Create a shortcut to cmd, then change the target to: Code: [Select]C:\Windows\System32\cmd.exe /k cd /D C:\perl Under the advanced button you can check off "Run as administrator" Shortcuts can be set to run as administrator under "advanced" on the shortcut tab (same one as the target). Running the shortcut will run an elevated command prompt and automatically change to the C:\perl directory. Yes, I know about the advanced tab, etc. I've said what I would like to do several times. In the shortcut, there are two entries you put in. The second is the label of the shortcut. Not even necessary to DISCUSS. The first is Location ( normally of a URL ). I can put CMD in there to open command prompt. I need also to make the shortcut "Run as administrator" and I would like to do a CD command to get to my directory in the command prompt box opened from the shortcut. I would like to do these three things in the shortcut. I don't want to use the .bat frile. Thanks DaveYou are missing the point...Closing this question out. Unfortunately, it's not resolved. Missed the point, eh? So far, everybody chiming in missed the point of what I want to do. BC gave you a simple solution above... Quote from: dc4580 on May 28, 2020, 01:43:29 PM Yes, I know about the advanced tab, etc.It is a button. The advanced button opens a small dialog containing "Run as Administrator". Not even necessary to discuss. You are talking about the "wizard" for creating a new shortcut. you can directly enter Code: [Select]cmd /k cd /D C:\perl as the target there as well. However you need to open the properties of the shortcut and use the Advanced button to set the shortcut to run as administrator. |

Solve : Windows Update Manager? |
Answer» Hi folks, I was wondering if someone might be able to help me here - I STARTED using a program called Windows Update Manager for Windows 10 to turn off automatic updating. There have been no updates for about 4 weeks now, so everything APPEARS to be in order but I am not sure if that is due to the program being set up right or if it is just because there have been no updates released? Everything under the 'Windows Services' TAB has been TURNED off and it has been disabled in the 'Group Policy' tab. The updates have been paused to 2070 and the everything under the 'Hosts File' tab has been turned off, however, 5 of the options under this tab turn themselves back on each time I open the program? I hope I have posted this in the right place? Any help WOULD be greatly appreciated. I don't think it is because of no updates. Because, my window was updated recently. So, I think that the software is working fine.Thank you kindly, Aliciabird13 |

Solve : Powering down unexpectedly? |
Answer» HI, I have an HP Elitebook Folio 1040 with Windows 10. A few months ago the battery started draining quite fast until the point where it only could be used while the laptop was plugged in. So I replaced the battery, thinking it was just old. Now I am experiencing unexpected shutdowns, it just turns off at any point. Something to note is that it only happens when it is using only battery power. A friend told me it might be the MOTHERBOARD or power SUPPLY that are malfunctioning. What do you reckon is the problem? Are there any LOGS that I can check that could pinpoint the issue? |

Solve : Random Error ( Need help fixing )? |
Answer» I was on my PC and I noticed it was running a little slower from when I first purchased it, it was running 100% perfect except I thought I was noticing it to be a tiny bit slower so I thought it wouldn't hurt to do a system restore to bring it BACK to the POINT it was when I first bought the computer. During the process of restoring I received an error that says -- ( Your PC ran into a problem and needs to restart. ) StopCode 0xc000021a -- this error has terminated my PC and I can't turn it on anymore. I have attempted to troubleshoot and when I click system restore there is no more saved restore points to select. I tried the other option of Resetting the PC to it's first current state and that process has failed multiple times. I have tried two YouTube videos that GAVE me multiple commands to type in the command prompt and I tried them all and each time I restart my PC I get the same error and now the computer does not WORK anymore. ---- I need help to fix this problem, I regret attempting to restore the PC because it was working fine before I did anything. |

Solve : I need to create a batch file, which should give me output and send emails? |
Answer» I need to create a batch file which will be containing the URLs, which should give me output and send emails for only "DOWN" STATUS of the URL's with specific message . Like HTTP/1.1 200ok and HTTP/1.1 503 Service unavailableDear All, I have a text file containing multiple API URLs. Now I want to call them one by one in our batch file and execute and send notification via BLAT if it is not pinging. Your response will be so helpfull. PLease help us in resolving this. Can you post what did you tried as code and some examples of URLs to test them ?Yes I have tried like this, I have a text file containing multiple URLs. EX: URL.txt containing www.google.com and so on... Now from my batch file I want to call them one by one sequentially, curl -i %%I in URL.txt, and the output should be redirected to a text file only if it is not pingable.Your quick response will be appreciated. Hi Since you didn't provide us any code to deal with, i come with my solution ! First open your notepad and copy and paste this code below as CheckURL.vbs The vbscript : CheckURL.vbs Code: [Select]Option Explicit Dim Not_OK_URLS, oARG, OK_URLS OK_URLS = "OK_URLS.txt" Not_OK_URLS = "Not_OK_URLS.txt" Set oARG=WScript.Arguments If oARG.Count=0 Then WScript.Quit wscript.echo Check(oARG(0)) '--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Function Check(URL) On Error Resume Next Const WHR_EnableRedirects = 6 Dim h,AllResponseHeaders Set h = CreateObject("WinHttp.WinHttpRequest.5.1") h.Option(WHR_EnableRedirects) = False 'disable redirects h.Open "HEAD", URL , False h.Send() 'AllResponseHeaders = h.GetAllResponseHeaders() 'wscript.echo AllResponseHeaders If Err.number = 0 Then Select Case CInt(h.status) Case 200,201,202,204 Check = h.status & vbTab & h.statusText Call WriteLog(URL & vbTab & Check & vbCrlf & String(100,"-"),OK_URLS) Case 404,401,403,412,415,500,501,500,503 Check = h.status & vbTab & h.statusText Call WriteLog(URL & vbTab & Check & vbCrlf & String(100,"-"),Not_OK_URLS) Case Else Check = h.status & vbTab & h.statusText Call WriteLog(URL & vbTab & Check & vbCrlf & String(100,"-"),Not_OK_URLS) End Select Else Check = "OFFLINE" & vbCrlf &_ "Error Description: " & Err.Description Call WriteLog(URL & vbTab & Check & vbCrlf & String(100,"-"),Not_OK_URLS) On Error Goto 0 End IF End Function '--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Sub WriteLog(strText,LogFile) Const ForAppending = 8 Dim fs,ts Set fs = CreateObject("Scripting.FileSystemObject") Set ts = fs.OpenTextFile(LogFile,ForAppending,True) ts.WriteLine strText ts.Close End Sub '--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- And copy and paste this code too with your notepad in the same FOLDER as the vbscript above and NAME it as CheckURL.bat The Batch Script : CheckURL.bat Code: [Select]echo off Title Check URLS by Hackoo 2020 & Color 0A set "URLs=URLs.txt" Set "OK_URLS=OK_URLS.txt" Set "Not_OK_URLS=Not_OK_URLS.txt" If Exist "%OK_URLS%" Del "%OK_URLS%" If Exist "%Not_OK_URLS%" Del "%Not_OK_URLS%" Call :Create_URLS_File for /f "delims=" %%a in ('Type "%URLs%"') do ( echo "%%a" cscript //NoLogo CheckURL.vbs "%%a" echo ------------------------------------ ) TimeOut /T 5 /NoBreak>nul Start "" /MAX "%OK_URLS%" Start "" /MAX "%Not_OK_URLS%" Exit ::------------------------------------------- :Create_URLS_File ( echo https://www.mediafire.com echo http://www.hyperdebrid.com echo http://www.fakirdebrid.net echo http://www.keepfiles.fr echo http://www.4shared.com echo https://1fichier.com echo https://www.mega.co.nz echo http://www.mediafire.com echo https://www.uploaded.net echo https://www.oboom.com echo https://www.letitbit.net echo https://www.keep2share.cc echo https://alfafile.net echo https://www.bigfile.to echo https://www.dailymotion.com echo https://www.datafile.com echo https://www.Depfile.com echo https://www.Dropbox.com echo https://www.Extmatrix.com echo https://www.Fboom.me echo https://www.Filefactory.com echo https://www.Filesmonster.com echo https://www.Fshare.vn echo https://www.Keep2share.com echo https://www.Mega.nz echo https://www.Rapidgator.net echo https://www.Scribd.com echo https://www.Soundcloud.com echo https://www.Speedyshare.com echo https://www.Turbobit.net echo https://www.Vimeo.com )>"%URLS%" ::------------------------------------------- Now what you have to do, is just to execute the batch file I have just pasted the code in notepad and saved them. Tried to execute but it is giving me error as cannot find Ok_URLs.txt file. So I didnt understood that. Can you please explain. Because I have one URLs.txt file with the required URLs in that already. And one more thing, we just need to execute the batch file right.I am getting below error: ------------------------------------ "https://www.Turbobit.net" Input Error: Can not find script file "C:\WINDOWS\system32\CheckURL.vbs". ------------------------------------ "https://www.Vimeo.com" Input Error: Can not find script file "C:\WINDOWS\system32\CheckURL.vbs". ------------------------------------ And along with this it is giving me error as Ok_URL.txt and NotOk_URL.txt not found. Please check the attachment of error.Ok Now I am able to successfully execute the script. But after the successfull execution it is just creating text files for "Ok URLs and NotOk URLs". Instead it should send message as a mail notification only if the URL is down with the error output.Your response will be appreciated. As your code works fine, small change is required that instead of saving the output to a file, it should send a mail notifiaction using BLAT with the error logs. I have Blat configuration ready only thing is I am confused where I can include in the above code to get the updates only when server is down and not available. Quote from: Santosh on April 16, 2020, 04:04:34 AM Your response will be appreciated. As your code works fine, small change is required that instead of saving the output to a file, it should send a mail notifiaction using BLAT with the error logs. Solve : My Computer is Acting Weird? |
Answer» Hi This does not appear to be malware related so I will move this thread to Windows 10 forum.Thank youHi Check Disk with admin right ==> https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WcGrEcn-tV4 When you use this command, Check Disk performs an analysis of the disk and then repairs any errors it finds, provided that the disk isn’t in use. If the disk is in use, Check Disk displays a prompt that asks whether you want to schedule the disk to be checked the next time you restart the system. Click Yes to schedule this check. Code: [Select]chkdsk /F C:When was the last time your laptop had a virus scan or disk defragment? How about the deletion of un-needed programs that may be running the background? My RECOMMENDATION would be to do the following: 1: Uninstall undesired or unused programs (control panel>Install/uninstall programs). My general rule is that if I don't recognize the program name, I delete it. Do a restart when you are done here. 2: Defragment your hard drive. (START menu>all programs> accessories>System Tools>Disk Defragmentor>Defragment Disk). This operation can take a while so maybe make it an overnight process. 3: Try to download and install a well KNOWN virus scan program (like McAfee) and run it to make sure there aren't any obvious viruses on your computer. I would recommend uninstalling the program when you are done too, because they tend to take a fair amount of resources themselves. If these don't work, you may try a full re-install of your OS or maybe even cleaning your laptop's internals. My old laptop ran super slow because it was over heating and it ran better after a quick clean. Please ignore the above advice. Boot to safe mode. Does the system have the same issues in safe mode? |

Solve : Issue with games crashing to desktop? |
Answer» Not sure if this is the right forum page for this, but I'm having an issue where various games will crash to the desktop after 15-20 minutes of play. A friend suggested checking Event Viewer, and I see error events listed, but I don't know what they mean (though some of them are game/application related). The most common one is titled Kernel-Event Tracing. Any suggestions? |

Solve : My Windows 10 wont boot? |
Answer» I keep getting No bootable device- insert boot disc after switching on. Exactly last week my laptop was booting into Windows Automatic Repair mode. I tried System Restore and the System/Boot Repair option in the blue troubleshooting menu but to no avail. Two days now, I turn it on it and I get the black & white screen with ''PXE-M0F : Exiting PXE ROM No bootable device-insert boot disc.'' I learnt about Hirens Boot CD and currently booted into it with my flash drive to seek help here. Would greatly appreciated assistance.Thank you Replace the cmos battery and then let's see what happens.I still get the same ERROR of no bootable device pleaseDo you still get the PXE error message ? ?YES I do Quote from: patio on April 20, 2020, 08:34:57 AM Do you still get the PXE error message ? ?Try another CMOS battery then...win10 boot can be a pain when it starts acting up. Your issue could be an easy fix or it could be one of those things you have to call about. The easy fix, if it works, is to go into the bios and confirm that the bios boot device is the HARD DISK ( this works even if the CMOS battery is weak and wouldn't hold the bios settings after shutting down the lappy, but has to be repeated every time you restart the machine, if your CMOS battery is weak). http://www.infralib.com/2015/03/lenovo-bios-key/ If your bios shows the hard disk as the primary boot device and the lappy still doesn't get past the PXE error screen, the problem is most likely a more complex startup issue in the machines boot sequence and possibly may only be fixable by an expert or Lenovo or MicroSo tech support. bios > uefi > trusted boot decryption > win10 fingers crossed it the easy one! |

Solve : Invalid partition table booting W10 from USB? |
Answer» Hello. My grandfather gave me his old XP computer to get it repaired. The Windows XP is stuck in a bootloop so I decided I should try and install W10 on it. I plugged my USB made with Media Creation Tool and when I BOOT from it I get ”Invalid partition table”. After watching some tutorials I found that is something RELATED to the UEFI or Legacy settings, but it doesn't seem the BIOS has these kind of settings. What can I do? |

Solve : WINDOWS 10 - HOW TO ADD / DELETE / EDIT TEXT IN A PHOTO? |
Answer» TRY as I MIGHT, I'm unable to properly add / delete / edit text in a photo using Paint / Paint 3D. I'm surprised it seems as difficult as its proving to be... any tips / advice would certainly help thanksSimple answer: You can't. Photos are often place din JPEG format to conserve MEMORY space and provide very good color. TEST in photos is not as clear as you might want it to be. Because it is not longer text. It is an image in the JPEG format. You might send the photo to a FRIEND and as to have the text altered. |

Solve : Restarting itself after Win10 update? |
Answer» Hey, got a Win10 OS that is now stuck in a loop. It must have updated itself, but now it just fails to boot. I can GET to the boot menu but after a restart it goes back to a loop. bootlegged software We hope you find a solution. Thanks, bought it 5 years ago with photoshop on it, was told it was legit, looked good to geek squad, but after updating from windows 7 to 10 had issues later. Now this boot process of being stuck in a loop after googling is a common issue, hopefully unrelated. Still hoping other drives without OS are plug and play. How much effort you want to put into this? If the computer is valuable and you wish to run Windows 10 on it, then just go by Windows 10 at the economy price. Let me explain what I mean. An individual such as yourself can purchase a low-cost version of Windows 10 and put it onto another machine. The end user license agreement does allow you to transfer Windows 10 on to another computer if it is as a replacement computer for computer that no LONGER works properly. Here's what to do. Find somebody that has a Windows 10 computer that no longer works because of a hardware problem. Obtain the product key for that computer and then attempt to install Windows 10 on the computer you like. This is the economical and legal way for an individual to update to Windows 10. Just by a junk computer that already has Windows 10 on it and then call up Microsoft and ask for permission to install it on a new computer because the old computer is no good The data drives E & F are able to be moved to another computer. Providing the computer has the connections and space for the 2 drives. As far as the boot loop , if windows can't repair itself it is normally a hard ware problem like a memory error or the SSD is failing. If the SSD is full it will do this, you should leave about 30 GB free on the SSD at all times. This gives windows work space and also allows the SSD to do house keeping. If the SSD checks out ok then you may need to reload windows I'm assuming windows is legal? if so then Geeks advice is the way to go |
