So I was trying to fix one problem I was having, and while trying to fix that, I ran into another. The other one can wait, because I cannot fix the other one with fixing this one first.

So a service called Client Server Runtime PROCESS is taking up anywhere between 40-70% of my GPU while WATCHING youtube VIDEOS or streams on Chrome. Goes down to 1-5% when not watching anything. Did as much digging as I could and this is what I have done so far.

-Ran Malwarebytes, RogueKiller, Windows Defender, tdsskiller, AVG, superantispyware professional, bitdefender for checks of coin mining stuff, nothing came up
-Process goes back to C:\Windows\System32 , ending process requires checkbox losing data and shutting down comp
-Checked process details in process explorer, everything points to it still being the real deal
-Windows up to newest date, GPU drivers newest drivers, everything is up to date.
-Registry cleaned, junk and trackers dumped
-Rolled back GPU drivers, and windows, problem still persists

Then I stopped all my extensions on Chrome, nothing changed, I do not have accelerated on either. Tried Edge, Edge just used straight GPU from the browser. So I downloaded Firefox, had no issues with GPU being used under 5%. I proceeded to uninstall Chrome, [forgetting to save my bookmarks], re-install Chrome. Find that it's using GPU now from the browser, turn off acceleration, now it goes back to Client Server Runtime Process, and goes back to using 40-70% of GPU while watching youtube or streams. Everything on the radeon settings is disabled, most useless things and none of them are running, nor have they ever been.

A Lot of the solutions were related to GeForce shadow PLAY being uninstalled or something Nvidia related, which I cannot do and do not have as I run AMD. I can't think of anything else to do or have find any solution, I have seen some people have this exact issue but they never are responded to leaving it unanswered. The only thing that I can say maybe related is, before this was happening, which was fine earlier in the day, was while trying to fix my previous problem, which required me to try and install an run a game on a separate harddrive. [ Trying to figure out if my main harddrive was dying or not]. I can't even play the game when this system process is using 40-70% of my GPU. I then uninstalled from my other drive, RESTARTED, problem still persists. All games are from Steam, yes my Windows is legit. I spend my my time on the most used and popular sites, never click ads, I haven't downloaded anything random besides all these tools to trouble shoot. Any help?

Additional info, if I am watching a youtube video or a stream, and click lets say, on reddit tab while the video/stream is still playing and I can hear it, the gpu usage from Client Server Runtime Process goes back down to 0%. As long as I cannot see it, it's fine, but if I can, it starts using GPU again. Regardless of how many youtube videos I can make appear on my screen, the usage doesn't go past 70%. Not really looking for reformat answers, as answers to this could help others. Plus, I could just use Firefox and problem fixed, but rather try and figure this out as the issue could be bigger. Hopefully this doesn't get lost or un-responded to like some other forums, i'm trying as many as I can to figure this out.

As you can see from the images, some of the thumbnails on websites on chrome as well as separate applications on windows like DISCORD are not properly rendering images. It is strange because it only affects certain thumbnails or images, not all of them.  I did move my PC from my apartment back home and starting it back up, that's when I noticed this ISSUE. This issue never OCCURRED before this. I'm assuming that this issue may be due to the MOVING, but I'm not sure exactly how. I glanced over the hardware inside, and it seems normal, but maybe I'm missing something. Does anyone know what is CAUSING this issue and how I would be able to fix it?Remove and re-seat the vid card and the RAM with all power removed...

I TRIED to run Sandbox on my Windows 10.1903 Build 18362.175 x64 Pro.

Longer time it displays splash screen and then outputs only error MESSAGE:

Testing environment (sandbox) for Windows start failed.
Error 0x800706d9. There are no more endpoints available from the endpoint mapper.

I must notice:
I have installed VMware.
Hyper-V and Hypervisor are DISABLED or REMOVED from system.
Other Hyper-V based services are disabled.
In UEFI I have SELECTED virtualization and req'd options enabled.

Is problem Hyper-V disabling or any other?
BTW: if will be this fixed - is possible to save Sandbox state? Or transfer files between real Windows and Sandbox?

My video connection is being blocked somehow by TURNING on one of my monitors. I have a dual monitor setup, one is an ASUS computer monitor and the other is a Sharp Smart TV. This only happens when I have my computer on and my monitors off to begin with. From what I've SEEN the past three or so weeks this has been happening, it only stops the connection once my smart TV is turned on. It just turns into a blank screen. All the help videos and articles I've read have talked about beeping or warning lights, but I haven't seen any of the sort. The video cable isn't damaged, when I UNPLUG it my monitor says "no signal" but once it's plugged back in, the "no signal" notice goes away and it's back to a blank screen. I know my computer still runs while the screen is blank because I can hear the audio from whatever I had on at the time of the screen going blank.

Any information that you need I can provide as I'm very anxious to get this problem resolved. I had a strange thing happen when I had an older HDMI cable used with a newer HDMI cable. I was wondering if you SWAP the HDMI cables (if this is how your connected) to the monitor and TV if the problem changes?

If the ASUS monitor is a laptop and your connecting to the TV via HDMI or VGA connection then you might just need to use the specific Function Key to tell it to display on both displays. On a laptop the function key is sometimes in blue  on the keys of the keyboard.I'm actually doing an HDMI for the Smart TV and DVI for the monitor. They are both plugged into my graphics card.

Yesterday I updated my Windows to 1903.
All was updated OK, no problems.

So, I tried some new features and found problems.
So:

Sandbox - reports only one error (no matter if I run it as admin): Error 0x80070015. The device is not ready.

Sticky Notes is only small problem but when MS fixed multimonitor support I was surprised what is there new - I'm using 3 monitors and never found problem with notes position.
Ok, I updated Sticky Notes YET in 1809 version, no problem. But after install 1903 and checking Sticky Notes version 3.6.73 are notes after each explorer restart placed on single MONITOR and even not the same.

Multimonitor problem appeared generally in 1809 version - some dialogs are wide through whole all connected monitors and File Explorer is not possible to move/resize 'cause it expands its width after each moving/resizing. Only one way to move/resize File Explorer is to place it to 1st left monitor and there fix its position and size. Moving between monitors is possible only by 3RD party app (in my case DisplayFusion - directly move window to other monitor by button hit). Before 1809 version this was not problem.

Command Prompt zoom:
I'm using NTVDMx64 and it was required to switch to new console TYPE. Did it and started command prompt again... no text, no cursor - only after typing anything and pressing enter.
Anything I mean really no matter what.
2nd question is bit other - is possible to use NTVDMx64 in new console type? Like I see it reports error and dialog Ignore/Close - off course no matter of choice, NTVDMx64 (or better any 16-bit app works not). When I switch to old type console, NTVDMx64 works.
For correction - I'm using Windows 10 Pro x64

Again, but think not important here, VMware again, like after each update, fails with Hyper-V and Device Guard problems.
Here it needs to say that this is first update where VMware manual fix works not by way like before and after trying to fix it reports Hyper-V problem only - but Hyper-V is generally disabled and removed from system. What MS added new to this version? Or is it my wished Sandbox?

Finally, my wished feature of this release - Sandbox works not and this update brings more problems than enhancements.

Recently UPDATED to version 1903 of Windows 10 Pro  build 18362.116 and had the search icon placed in my taskbar. If I right-click to hide it, it simply reappears in a few moments and changes the setting back. It was persistent so I attempted to hide it via the SearchboxTaskbarMode key in the registry. No luck. It was then I REALIZED that if I changed the key in the registry the search icon would only reappear if something refreshed my graphics driver. For example, anytime my screen sleeps, if I USE ctrl+shift+win+b, if I change my monitor PROJECTION settings (WIN+P), and anything else of the sort.
 
I am stumped and this is officially the oddest issue I have ever encountered. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I just purchased a new PC laptop running Windows 10 and used it to download a zip file from a GitHub project page. The files are provided for transfer to an SD card, for an operation update in a control board of a 3D printer. After downloading the zip file I unzipped it. When I open it to send the files to an SD card they are all HEADED by a Microsoft explorer icon, not the usual standard file icon? If I try to open one of these files I get a message asking me if I want to allow this program to download the file? It seems the files are LINKS to files not actual files. What is going on? (When I do the same thing using my old laptop also running Windows 10 the files are ORDINARY with conventional lead icon and I was able to move them to my SD card no problem) anyone KNOW what’s going on with the new laptop??

You have been on this forum for a few YEARS. By now you know we need more details. LIKE make mad MODEL of the PC. Is it a laptop? And how did this HAPPEN? When you do a new install of Windows 10 it wipes out the password. Bu that's not what you did? 
We do not assist with bypassing password issues...

I know there are various executables that need constant checking of network/internet. And I don't mind, as long as it doesn't have a noticeable impact on the system's performance. But this one does
I just got this pc about a month ago, it's an Acer Nitro 50n-600 (i7 8700, 16 Gb Ram, Nvidia GTX 1060 6Gb, *Win10 Pro). Sure it's not one of the best, but it's not too shabby either, and it's got what I need.
But now thanks to this issue, every program I use has to do a pause on whatever the program is doing just so that annoying process gets done, which takes about 3 to 4 seconds. I know it doesn't sound long, but you can notice it for sure. Especially when I'm playing Left 4 Dead 2, boy! Is it ever annoying!!! When the pause is over, I am a few meters away from where I was before. Or dead.
What COULD this be?
Are there any log files I should check?

* I upgraded the OSOnly thing I have had like this before was caused by a free to play MMORPG GAME that used my computer as a Bit Torrent seed. Basically while my computer was on others needing PATCHES and update files were sometimes getting them from me. This made my hard drive busy and so it lagged out games that required loading of large map files etc. Pando Media Booster was the service that I had to kill off. However when playing the game it required that this service be active. I was able to block it from uploading by changing firewall setting so that it was active but unable to upload and only able to download patches for myself.

I'd look at the hard drive indicator when this LAG happens. If you see the hard drive light/LED lit during the lag then it could be a problem like the one that I had. Look for game services that arent needed for game your playing and turn them off and see if the problem goes away. If you notice that everything is better with a specific game service shut off then google that service name and see if there is a work around to making it better behave.

The other solution could be to upgrade from a HDD to a SSD so that the data is fetched faster and so no 3 or 4 seconds of lag.Check all the apps that are in your Startup folder.....don't dis-able anything if you don't know what it is...It turns out it was one of the many Acer utilities that came with the pc. I am just so happy that I don't have to put up with that anymore.

Ok, let me explain my issue.I just got a brand new SSD Drive for my Laptop HP ProBook 4540s and i performed a fresh install of Windows 10. Everything was ok UNTILL windows updates.I downloaded all the updates available and restarted to finish installing them. And boom, i am now STUCK at the logon screen.
What should i do, uninstall windows updates? If so ,how?I am thinking that POSSIBLY the update blew away your NETWORK connection and you dont have a offline password created.

Did you set this computer up with a offline/local password or does it require you to authenticate with Microsoft to logon using an account you created with Microsoft which is the default?

Also with your HP make sure you disable HP 3D DriveGuard having it turned on can cause ssd corruption. The Laptop has a G sensor to TURN the hard drive off immediately there is  laptop movement. Removing power on an ssd may corrupt data.

My dell INSPIRON 23 all in one model 5348. When i turn it on, the power button stays lit white but screen stays black. I have tried to connect to another monitor through hdmi out
But to no result. It does try to boot to os but all i see is a flash onscreen and it goes back to a black screen.
Could the black screen mean the integrated video is gone.

But now nothing comes on.On this model is the RAM EASY to get to to remove and reseat the RAM? Sometimes a RAM issue can cause the problem your having. If not RAM then it can be power SUPPLY or main board. All in one computers can be difficult to troubleshoot because parts aren't universal for them.

Any history of anything happening when the computer stopped working properly such as bad storm or power outage,  or computer moved from one place to another anything like that which would SUGGEST that there is physical damage to it in any way?

I got new laptop.
I power it on, all works correctly, Windows 10 too.
But sometimes Windows freezes, or when I turn down laptop cover to sleep Windows - laptop is not possible to turn off!
Last one solution is to remove AC power adapter, but I must to wait until is battery discharged - for speed up I connect to charge all mobile phones by USB.
Sometimes laptop powers off correctly.

For correction: these words are from my friend and I know not to help her.
I need to know what a problem it can be 'cause I'll meet her at Tuesday and currently it looks like hardware problem only.
Battery was not removed 'cause it needs disassemble laptop by screws - this is very wrong and she is afraid to do it.
Yet cannot to say what a MODEL it is.
I need only simple suggestion where to find or try to find problem.
I'm not hardware expert, better is for me providing software assistance.

That sounds highly unlikely and i don't think you have seen these things happen...just sayin.I know that I provided less info than is possible.
I need only suggestion, no real help - ANYTHING, or any point where to look.

MiroIf this computer has a cracked version of Windows 10 installed it can act weird. Just mentioning this because in some parts of the world Pirated/Cracked Windows activations are rampant and they are usually flawed in some way or another.

If she just bought the computer and it has a warranty exercise the warranty and get a healthy replacement.

Hardware issues like issues with RAM and Hard Drive can cause issues with Sleep and Hibernation malfunctioning as well, so run MEMTEST86 to make sure RAM is healthy and use a tool like Crystaldiskinfo to check the SSD or HDD health.Thank you - sure tomorrow I do Memtest and check HDD...

Windows is original, laptop has Windows pre-installed.

Also I would check what background PROGRAMS are running , With windows 10 you can still do ctrl alt delete then task manager. From there you can see running programs and shut these down, to see if windows is able to shut down.
Also check in add/remove programs for programs loaded since she received the laptop. programs to look for are 3rd party Antivirus programs or any thing which seems weird.
You could run msconfig from command prompt and try running windows with  Diagnostic start ticked, If everything works then it is a Windows software problem. Don't forget to set this back to normal start after checking.

There is the option of using system restore to go back to when it worked OK and check it is working correctly, then it is a matter of finding what has changed. Some times you can get this info when you select to show effected programs on the system restore page.

Also check the status of windows updates. Updates failing to install can cause shut down problems.   
  These things will be checked surely.
I asked for anything what is not standard.
Really what I didn't know that Memtest helps.

I just went to check it and it says you can run it with another firewall. Is that RECOMMENDED?First line of defense is your routers hardware firewall. Next is your computers Software/OS firewall.

Windows Firewall should be plenty good enough. Vulnerabilities are patched for the Windows OS and all its features when exploit is known.

If your connecting to wifi other than your own you may be secure by firewall, but all your network traffic can be sniffed by others on that network no matter what you have for a firewall. So I always avoid using my credit CARD, going to paypal or bank websites, or any personal accounts from others wifi sources and only access that information from my home network which I know is secure and no ONE is sniffing my local packets.

If you need to make exceptions and custom RULES for firewall then you might find Windows Firewall to be a pain for that, but most exclusions are easy to accomplish with Windows Firewall unless some advanced firewall configurations that another Software Firewall would allow for.

Many years ago I use to use Zone Alarm Firewall, but Windows Firewall has been used every since upgrading from Windows 2000 to Windows XP and no problems and exceptions that I needed to make worked fine.

One thing that you might want to check into though is a Internet Security Service that watches for bad websites and scripts and warns you when something is trying to mess with your computer which Windows Firewall generally doesn't block. This type of software runs along side your firewall either Windows Firewall or another trusted software firewall.I purchased Office and McAfee came with it. It does pretty well if I remember correctly.

Creating and posting videos, is it easy?They are easy to produce and upload to YouTube.Assuming you want to create something reflecting some thought and quality in its production, or, in other words, something that might generate significant traffic, I suggest going to youtube.com and searching on a phrase such as "how to make a youtube video".  Some, or many, very good videos can be found to give specific tips on technique for creating effective videos.  One of them is How to Film Professional Videos with an Android Smartphone.  And, if you want to use an Android phone for this project, see Filming with Android Smartphones: The Complete Guide to SHOOTING Video like a PRO!.  Of course, many more helpful videos can be found. You might also want software to edit your videos before you post them to remove or correct sections or even better to add a watermark in a CORNER or some sort of framing and intro screen that shows its of a more professionally created quality vs just someone posting a video recorded as is.

I've posted videos on youtube for years and its really easy. Only drawback to YouTube is that sometimes what you record and what they display it as after its uploaded is grainy looking and lesser quality. I have been able to use a free tool called VirtualDub64 which allows me to size down my videos and retain better quality as for it seems like if your video is high quality and large in size YouTube will reduce its size impact on their servers by processing it into lesser quality which makes for videos that are worse looking than the ones that I convert as H.264 to AVI format.

For video editing, I use Pinnacle Studio software that came with a $50 RCA to USB Video Recorder that allows you to select a video not created with it, in addition to video content recorded with the capture device, and edit frames or slices out of it and then generate a cleaned up/edited version of the video.

Last thing to share is that it helps to have a fast computer if you want the videos that are edited or composed of many video sources to generate quickly into the finished product. I have used this software on a 10 YEAR old 2.3Ghz Dual-Core computer with 500GB Hard Drive and it was able to do it, but the system was generating the finished product for over an hour. Yet I used this software with a 3 year old computer and a similar project on a 8-Core processor that is 4.0Ghz and with a 240GB Solid State Drive and it was able to complete in 20 minutes.

So pretty much what the subject says, my computer is freezing a lot. At first, it only happened when I played games by a certain developer, but now it's becoming a problem quite nearly every day. I have no idea what's wrong and would really appreciate some help.We need some more details about the history of your computer..

The same DVD PLAYER works if I boot Windows XP.
I have tried doing a new install of the VLC video player. I get a pastel lilac screen. No video at all.
Google search does not find a real answer.
Windows says it has the best drivers.
I don't know when this happened. At one time it did work fine.

The controller is able to reconnect but the Bluetooth music thing isn't that smart. It connects but Windows doesn't realize it is a sound DEVICE. Lastly, I remember using those other 2 dongles and one didn't work at all and the other one cut the music way frequent than the current one. What should I do? I don't have problems with the old dongle, however, the new one causes a lot of problems with this music receiver. Should I get a new dongle or a new receiver? I tested the same faulty CSR8510 A10 dongle with my other PC and it also cut off after an hour or so.

Any updates? I have been reading over you posts number of times.
I can not understand what you want to do.
Bluetooth, like other wireless devices,is subject to failure.Often Bluetooth is used at short range and for things that are not critical. Bluetooth devices and and do interfere with each other.

It is not clear is you are using an XBOX or a PC. Or both?

So, my grandma screwed up her laptop. It won't BOOT properly, and the error is apparently as the title says. I already TRIED booting in safe mode, some tech guy on Youtube got me fiddling with the registry, and nothing I've tried has worked. And, of course, she never made any system restore points, because why would she!? That would be too easy! I tried to REINSTALL and keep her files, but that wouldn't even start up. It just says there's a problem resetting the PC. She royally screwed the thing up. I don't even know what she did. As far as I know, all she ever USED it for was doing her taxes and printing off sewing patterns, so I don't know what she did. Please help!! You know what? I know that I can install up to 16GB memory and I only have 8. Will adding memory increase my speed. If I remember correctly sometimes the system cannot utilize all the memory installed or I think that is right. I have been out to pasture a few years and can't remember the things I used to know. Adding an SSD, if you don't already have one will make a big difference to how fast the computer preforms.

I backed up my entire computer on an external hard drive(WD My Passport). My finances also backed up on a flash drive.My computer crashed. My new desktop uses Windows 10. I have tried to open the flash drive and it comes up stating it cannot read Word 2007.  How can I get the IMPORTANT data that I have on my flash drives and external hard drive. Do you have Word (or Office) installed on the new system? If so, there's no reason it cannot open a document from a previous version of WordPlease tell what type of files are on the flash drive? I understand or at least I THINK I do that the mixer game is included in Windows 10 somehow. My problem is when my computer is revived/woken from being asleep it autoloads this mixer game. I would like to stop this from happening as it shows another person ready to play against me in some kind of shooter game. I find this very intrusive as that person can see into my home through my camera. I disabled what I thought was the ability for it to run. as i understand it in windows 10 its called voice recorder and depending on what articles you read users are either “hit or miss” in their ability to record the same way as windows 7 via the stereo mix FEATURE. it seems to work for some and not for others?

I had a SIMILAR issue with FRAPS only working with Windows 7 and older OS's unless a game for example is OpenGL driven. The Aero Desktop sensing of FRAPS that is able to record sound and video from PC on Windows 7 is completely non functional with Windows 10 because of the difference between Windows 7 and Windows 10 desktop environments.

I've been trying to install R from CRAN on Windows 10 for a few days now. I download the execute file from CRAN (R-3.2.3) for 64 bit Windows and install. I cannot find the folder it created anywhere and none of the DESKTOP icons APPEAR. When I try to reinstall, it says R is ALREADY INSTALLED on the computer. F8 to get into the start menu doesn't apply with Windows 10. To get into the repair you need to crash Windows 10 when it is starting 4 times then it will start into the recovery consul.  If you are running the same version of win 10 on your recovery drive , which is good thinking having it still in the machine by the way . Then you can run

and check the health of the non starting drive. If it shows as ok then backup everything important. then you can run  chkdsk /f on the drive may fix some errors. I tried to use the recovery consul and it would almost go into it but the screen for that would flash for just a second and be gone. I am in the process of burning an iso DVD and use that to repair or reinstall windows 10. The main thing is having access to the files on the drive. If the iso DVD doesn't work I am considering getting an external hard drive usb case, putting the drive in there, take the important files off then reinstall Windows 10.Hi

Sounds like a good plan , except i would get the case and transfer off the files first. My experience has been when Windows 10 won't load the recovery consul there is something other than software wrong, like bad memory or a failing hard drive.  "like bad memory"

Memory is the cause of the problem. I had two 4 gig chips in my computer then about a month ago I decided to upgrade and bought a 8 gig chip, my computer can hold a total of 32 gigs, 4x8 gigs. Well the old RAM and the new don't get along. In the process of elimination I figured out that leaving the one new 8 gig in ran BETTER so I left the two older ones out. I decided to buy another of the new RAM. I got it a few DAYS ago and everything seemed to be going fine until the computer started shutting off by itself or the screen going blank. In the process of rearranging the RAM to make it work the start-up problem happened. Now I have the first new RAM in the computer and am using the back-up hard drive.
When I got the first new RAM I was looking into the compatibility problem. I came across a couple of places that mentioned that display drivers can cause some of these problems. So I ordered a new video card. When I installed the Win 10 upgrade on this hard drive it said that my video card wasn't compatible with Win 10 and I might have problems with it. So now I am waiting to get the new video card and the external hdd case to take care of the problem, I hope. Your plan to get your data is solid...RAM shold ultimately be purchased in matching stiks...course i'm not tellin you anything you haven't already learned...I`ve just mentioned the problem like that in another topic
I have similar problem with my laptop. It is quite old (Core 2 Duo), so COULD it be caused by the age? It tooks 10 minute to start working after the pressing launch button, and serious software causes overheating. Now I`m even thing on downgrade to Windows 7.My computer is 4.5 years since I built it so I was wondering about that also. It has run great until the last week or so.
I got the new video card a couple of days ago and the new external hd case today so I'm ready to go on my days off in a couple of days to see about getting this taken care of. Well getting the files off the stubborn hard drive didn't work with the external case. It didn't show any files when I turned it on. The external hard drive case works fine, I tested it with another hard drive. So I am going to try some data recovery software to try and get the files off. I don't know if the OS on this hard drive is so messed up it won't let me see the files or the hard drive is messed up beyond repair. If the file recovery software doesn't work I am going to see if I can reformat the hard drive and at least install Windows 7, that will tell me the hard drive is still good.
On the bright side of things, because of this problem I now have a new awesome video card and solid state hard drive. I like how fast they both are, especially the hard drive. Not sure what you mean....how is the drive reported in the external enclosure usin Disk Management ? ?
When I turn the external drive on it shows up as another drive but it's not showing any files and takes forever to scan/search the drive. When the search gets to the end it stalls and just sits there. Quote

I associated many filetypes to applications and I'm doing the same after reinstalling Windows.
Also ASSOCIATIONS were created by Types EXTENSION where is possible to add class, action and ICON for filetype.

Is possible to export these associations for future install of Windows?

I found solution:

Backup filetypes is possible to reach by entering God Mode - Backup file type SETTINGS item there is.

To enter God Mode only enter:
::{ED7BA470-8E54-465E-825C-99712043E01C})
in File Explorer or Run dialog.
There you can find many items incl. backup filetypes and many more normally hidden.

I'm using combination of File Explorer extensions QTabBar and Clover.
Clover works ok.

QTabBar is problem .
When I SELECT layout and close window, at new window open it shows CRAZY layout and looks like default 'cause no matter how I set layout, it opens again the same.
So, this is selction of my layout:


And after close it shows this crazy combination:


But it is problem of Windows 10 - my friend installed following me QTabBar on Windows 7 SP1 X64 Pro and it works ok, default layout is propely sized.
My problem is default layout - look at picture above and it is crazy mistake - it needs resizing at each opening.
I have installed Windows 10.1803 x64 Pro.

So, I exported settings and then imported to real machine.
The same problem - nothing solved.

MiroYou are combining a bunch of aftermarket software that even in the best conditions doesn't work very well. I'm not sure what you expected.

I'd guess that whatever software is saving the splitter bar positions between panes is not doing so properly or is perhaps not High DPI aware when either saving or loading those positions.Ok, understand.

But for me is mystery why it works on Windows 7 and I tested it also on virtual machine with Windows 10.
When I saw it working properly on VM, I exported settings and imported into real machine configuration - helped not.
Even - plugin modules is not possible to add - no matter by d'n'd or browse.

So, if do you think that it is normal - in my machine works not, on same Windows on VM and Windows 7 works, then ok.
I have no choice, only to try all possible.
I wanted to switch to this shell extension from XYplorer 'cause it is loading slowly.

If I do a clean install Windows 10 Pro on a Phenom system w/Bios-MBR and want to transfer the OS to a UEFI system w/SSD in 6 months, I'll have to re-install to change to UEFI, correct?

I'll be using the HDD for OS alone. But I think I'll have to re-install anew on the SSD in order to change to: a modern UEFI system, with an SSD. Also, I believe since I'll prob have to re-install for UEFI I'll also need to REINSTALL all my programs.

This is for my sister's laptop. Her drawing tablet wasn't working correctly and she also wanted to install "Minecraft for Windows 10." Therefore, she updated her Windows 10. Afterwards, everything was very slow - when trying to make a new folder on the desktop, right-click took a half-minute, then placing the CURSOR over 'new' took even longer. When she played a video on Youtube, everything would flash black, as well.

She ran Avast antivirus and Malwarebytes, but nothing showed up. She did a System Restore, but the problems persist. And now Chrome won't open.

What should I tell her?


Just wondering how the computer performs when you boot to safe MODE. Generally, safe mode runs only the bare minimum to get windows to run, and none of the other things you may have installed and perhaps it may help in the diagnosis of the issues.

I have just downloaded latest updates for windows 10 and Microsoft Office.

Since the updates videos I receive in Outlook no longer open and if I click the link at the top that SAYS open in browser it opens in Microsoft Edge which I have disabled.

How do I get my email videos to open again and how do i get them to open in Chrome?

I have searched Google for a solution but most of them say to set Chrome as DEFAULT browser - Chrome is already set as my default browser and I have even deleted all other browsers from the list.

Another solution was to get Chrome to open mht files but I cannot find any clear instructions on how this is done.

Can someone please give me a WORKABLE solution?

I was working at home using a corporate account. Ever since it was installed I was no longer able to switch to my other personal ACCOUNTS. I removed that account already, but I still cannot switch without signing out first.
I went through every setting in the Accounts page, but I couldn't find anything that would address this issue.

DPCSo an IT Guru at your work Joined your personal computer to their corporate network and messed with group POLICY and now you want your system to be set back to home computer config as you had prior?

The IT Guru for the company should be able to address this for you. There may be a reason why group policy was CONFIGURED to disallow this.

Easiest fix if this no longer is to be used for work is to use the system recovery media or restore the system to a earlier date before IT guru altered it rolling back to old config if available. You might find that you need to backup your personal data that you dont want to lose to an external drive or cloud storage and then install the OS clean to fix this the right way quickly.

I was hoping it would just be just a matter of doing a simple setting's adjustment.
Fortunately I do have restoring back ups with Clonezilla and Macrium Reflect.
But I RATHER use them for something more important. I can put up with not being able to switch accounts without closing them. I guess one benefit is that each account will have more undivided ram resources this way (?).

My Internet connection seemed slow this morning, so I checked out the Internet ICON on the task bar.

A pop up or a tool tip or whatever you call them popped up saying:

The icon has also changed from the usual concentric quarter circles to a boxy looking THING that may be TRYING to represent a monitor.

I've seen this message before.  I don't always see it.  It seems to come and go on different days.  I recall seeing a version on this message that said the unidentified network was "connected with limited connectivity."

I live in a house with 3 other UNRELATED people.  I'm pretty sure I'm the only one with an actual computer.  The others use cell phones (4 of them, I think) and I think the television's sound bar is connected to the net, and at times my printer and another's printer.

Can someone tell me what this unidentified network means?  Is it something that would slow down my connection?

hi, I'm trying to create a file via Command Prompt and the program's file creation works grand when it is run from it's directory.  However, when running from any directory... using PATH... it prints:
gcc: error: CreateProcess: No such file or directory

The problem, I believe, has to do with it trying to use the PATH to locate cc1.exe.  The PATH folder containing cc1.exe is: "C:\Program Files (x86)\mingw-w64\i686-8.1.0-win32-sjlj-rt_v6-rev0\mingw32\libexec\gcc\i686-w64-mingw32\8.1.0"

  Now my questions:

1.) Is there a limit on the number of files that windows will search through to find the exe?  Some of the PATHS' folders contain many files.
2.) Is that PATH folder correctly set up?  There must be something wrong... it's the correct folder... just checked it again. (I learned from windows.com that \\?\ allows a directory path to be longer than 256 characters... and I had "\\?\C:\Program Files (x86)\mingw-w64\i686-8.1.0-win32-sjlj-rt_v6-rev0\mingw32\libexec\gcc\i686-w64-mingw32\8.1.0" but removed the \\?\ just now because that directory path is less than 256 characters.)

edit:  Just want you all to KNOW that I have enabled long paths and file names via edits to the registry.  It should work.   But, it doesn't; I don't understand why.

The convention is to write PATH in capital letters when you are discussing your system's PATH environment variable. That is, the variable which is a string, a list of folders where the system will look for executables, by default starting C:\Windows\system32;C:\Windows;C:\Windows\System32\Wbem; (there are more folders, usually.) if you have totally replaced everything else, and just have that long folder path on your PATH, all kinds of trouble will happen.

You can expect gcc has some rules about file names and directories that vary from what Windows allows.

It's a name. The mingw-w64 project is a complete runtime environment for gcc to support binaries native to Windows 64-bit and 32-bit operating systems. The -w64 doesn't mean it's 64-bit only.

I purchased a NEW COMPUTER with Windows 10.  It defaults to safe mode that I would like to get out as I cant install chrome or anything so far of but I can't seem to log in as an admin.  I only have user PRIVILEGES. I can't even start a cmd box.  How can I be an admin on my computer?

I have a Windows 10 Desktop on my Dell machine, and I want to change the image that appears DIRECTLY after startup. This is before I ENTER my password to start Windows.

You will see a drop down menu that PROBABLY has Windows Spotlight selected, this is random pictures from Microsoft, the other choices are Picture and Slideshow, CHOOSE Picture and then you see THUMBNAILS of some standard pictures, you can choose one of these, or there is a Browse button, click that and you can browse to an image file you have saved somewhere. If you choose Slideshow, it will show pictures from a folder. There is a button right there to choose your Pictures folder, or click the Add a folder button to add one or more folders of pictures you want to use.
Yes, that answered my question. I never got to the Lock Screen tab. Problem solved.

I just connect to a TV via HDMI cable, however they ALSO have these converter and extender boxes you can buy that take a VGA or HDMI input and pass it over a Cat5 or Cat 6 cable to another box as a pair to send display signals about 100 ft. PC to PC I use Real VNC or another REMOTE access software, however the refresh rate is ok for viewing everything except for video content, so you cant play a movie and WATCH it in real time over this connection, the refresh rate is too slow and so you END up with sample stills of the session that change at like 4 fps.

There may be a software package out there that encodes the environments to be viewed elsewhere with a point to point type of networked video stream but I have doubts that it would be high frame rate.

Teamviewer comes to mind which I have worked with in the past for PC to PC other than Real VNC. I have USED Teamviewer with PC's over internet connection 800 miles apart and even locally networked systems have same significant lag to where you can remote control and view the other computer but video playback is horrible. Its good for helping someone get out of a bind remotely who still has a healthy enough computer to handshake a connection to get help over this but refresh rate is very slow.
