Q1.If one root of the equation xsquare+7x+k=0 is -2, then find the value of k and the other root.

Answer» ONE root of x²+7x+K = 0 is -2
therefore, (-2)² + 7(-2)+k = 0
4 - 14 + k = 0
k = 10

The equation is x²+7x+10 = 0

Product of the ROOTS = αβ = 10
(-2) β = 10
β = -5
the other root is -5
2.

Q1.If one root of the equation xsquare+7x+k=0 is -2 ,then find the value of k and the other root.

Answer»

If -2 is the root of the EQUATION x² + 7X + k = 0; then
(-2)² + 7×(-2) + k = 0
⇒ 4 - 14 + k = 0
⇒ -10 + k = 0
⇒ k = 10

the equation is x² + 7x + 10 = 0.
let the other root is β.
we know that sum of ROOTS is -b/a, that is -7/1 = -7.
⇒ β + (-2) = -7
⇒ β - 2 = -7
⇒ β = -7 + 2
⇒ β = -5
So other root is -5.

Plzzz help to solve this-Q. Is 3x+2 a factor of 6x(raised to the power)3+7x(raised to the power) 2-x-2. Show that DIVIDEND=DIVISOR*QUOTIENT+REMAINDERPlzzz help tomorrow is my final

Answer»

3 x + 2 is factor of  P(x)  = 6 x³ + 7 x² - x - 2  ??

   If  3 (x + 2/3)  is a factor of  the expression, P(x = - 2/3)  should be 0.
       Reminder of division of P(x) by (x+2/3) is  P( - 2/3)
     P(2/3) = -48/27  + 28/9 + 2/3 - 2 = 0
As the reminder is  zero,  (x + 2/3) is a factor.

 Hence,  6 x³ + 7 x² - x - 2 = 3 (x + 2/3)  ( a x² + b x + c) +  0

 COMPARING coefficients of x³ on both sides, 3 a = 6  => a = 2
     coefficients of the constant terms:    -2 = 2 c    => c = -1
           finding coefficient of x² term:  7 = 2 a + 3 b    =>  b = 1

ABC is an isosceles triangle in which AB=AC . A circle passing through B and C intersecting AB and AC at D and E respectively. Prove that BC is parallel to DE.

Answer»

As, ΔABC is isosceles
angle B = angle C
But BCED is a cyclic QUADRILATERAL with base ANGLES B and C are equal.
⇒ angle B = angle E
But angle B + angle E = 180 degrees (OPP angles of cyclic quadrilateral are supplementary)
⇒ angle C + angle E = 180 degrees
Therefore, DE is PARALLEL to BC

each child in the mittal family has at least 2 brothers and one sister. what is the least number of children in the family?

Answer»

The LEAST number is 5 children. Since each girl must have another SISTER, the MINIMUM number of GIRLS there can be are 2 girls. And since each BOY must have at least 2 brothers, the minimum number of boys there can be are just 3 boys.
So, in total
3 boys + 2 girls = 5 children.

Rain water which falls on a flat surface of length 6m and breadth 4m is transferred into a cylindrical vessel of internal radius 20cm . What will be the height of water in the cylindrical vessel if the rain fall is 2cm ? Give your answer to the nearest whole number. (Use pie=3.14)

Answer»

Dimension of FLAT surface = 6m×4m or 600cm×400cm
height of RAINFALL = 2cm
volume of water = 600×400×2 cm³

radius of CYLINDER = 20cm
let height of water = h
volume = πr²h

\pi r^2h=600 \times 400 \times 2\\ \\ \Rightarrow 3.14 \times 20^2 \times h=600 \times 400 \times 2\\ \\ \Rightarrow h= \frac{600 \times 400 \times 2}{3.14 \times 20^2} \\ \\ \Rightarrow h=382.16\ cm\\ \\ \Rightarrow h =\boxed{382\ cm}

Height of water is 382cm (to the NEAREST whole NUMBER.)

Guys please help me i want to get the answer fast. The question is . There were 100 marbles in a bag.the red marbles were double the number of yellow marbles.the white marbles were two more in number than the red marbles. The blue marbles were 18 more than the green marbles.the green marbles were 5 more in than the yellow marbles and 7 less than the white marbles. HOW MANY MARBLES OF EACH COLOUR WERE THERE

Answer» GIVEN:total marbles = 100
         (red = r ; yellow = y ; WHITE = w ; green = g)
           r
            y=r/2
           w = 2+r
           g = y+5 = r/2+5
           b = 18 + g = 18 + r/2 + 5

therefore,
      r+2 + r + r/2 + r/2+5 +18+r/2+5 =100
2r + 30 + 3r/2 = 100
5r + 30 = 100 * 2
5r + 30 = 200
5r = 200 - 30
5r = 170
r = 170/5
r = 34 marbles

hence,
          red marbles = 34
          yellow marbles = 34/2 = 17
         white marbles = 34 + 2 = 36
         green marbles = 34/2 + 5 = 22
        blue marbles = 18 + 34/2 + 5 = 40

hope ur problem is solved.........

Find the value of a for which the plane x+y+z=a touches the sphere x^2+y^2+z^2-2x-2y-2z-6=0

Answer»

Equation of sphere => (x-1)²(y-1)²(z-1)² = 3²
centre of sphere is (1,1,1)
radius = 3
if plane touches the sphere then perpendicular DISTANCE from centre of sphere to the plane is equal to the radius of sphere
equation of plane is x+y+z-a = 0
|(1+1+1-a)/√(1²+1²+1²)| = 3
|(3-a)/√3| = 3
(3-a)/√3 = +3 or -3
3-a = 3√3
a = 3(1-√3)
or
3-a = -3√3
a = 3(1+√3)

3 men or women can do a work in 12 days. How long will 6men and 5 women take to do it.

Answer»

3 men or women can do the WORK in 12 days.
1 man or WOMAN can do the work = 12×3 = 36 days.
1 man or women will do in 1 DAY = 1/36 of the work.

6 men in 1 day will day do = \frac{1}{36} \times 6= \frac{6}{36} of work
5 women in 1 day will day do = \frac{1}{36} \times 5= \frac{5}{36} of work

together they can do in 1 day = \frac{5}{36}+ \frac{6}{36}= \frac{5+6}{36}= \frac{11}{36} of the work

They will complete in = \frac{1}{11/36}= \frac{36}{11} days

INA QUADRILATERALABCDAB=28,BC=26CM=CD=50CM,DA=40CMAND DIAGONLAC=30 FIND THE AREA OF QUADRILATERAL

Answer»

The quadrilateral can be divided into two triangles- ΔABC and ΔADC.
Now find the areas of the triangles and add them.

In ΔABC, AB= 28, BC = 26, AC = 30
s = (28+26+30)/2 = 84 / 2 = 42
Area= \sqrt{s(s-a)(s-b)(s-c)} \\ Area= \sqrt{42(42-26)(42-30)(42-28)}\\ Area= \sqrt{42*16*12*14} \\Area= 336\ cm^2

Similarly in ΔADC. AD = 40, CD = 50, AC = 30
s = (30+40+50)/2 = 60
applying same formula,
Area = \sqrt{60*30*20*10}=600cm^2

Total area = 300+600 = 900 cm²

32.
