4.

Try to construct a triangle with 5cm, 8cm and 1cm. Is it possible or not? Why? Give your justification?

Answer»

Dear student,

Answer: Impossible to construct Δ with given sides.

Reason:

To construct a triangle, normally these conditions are given

→ we have at least one angle and TWO sides

→ Two angles and one side

For constructing triangle only with three sides ,check the condition as follows:

Step 1: Take any three length.

Step 2: Check the sum of any two sides, if it is greater than third side ,then

construction of that Δ is possible,otherwise not.

Given LENGTH1: AB: 5 cm,Let us assume triangle ΔABC

Length 2:BC = 8 cm

length 3:AC = 1 cm

So,now check to add any two sides

AB+BC = 5+8 = 13 >AC

AB+AC = 5+1 = 6 < BC ∴ CONDITION FAILS

BC+AC = 8+1 =9 >AB

so,impossible to construct that triangle.

hope it helps you.

Find the 3 consecutive terms in ap whose sum is 18 and sum of their squares is 140

Answer»

For any AP, if n is odd,

S_{n} = n * [\frac{n + 1}{2}]^{th} term

(S_{n} means sum of any n consecutive terms of the sequence, not first n consecutive terms.)

Here,

S_{3} = 3 * [\frac{3 + 1}{2}]^{th} term \\ \\ = 3 * T_{2} = 18 \\ \\ T_{2} = \frac{18}{3} = 6

∴ The MIDDLE term of the 3 consecutive terms is 6.

6² = 36.

140 - 36 = 104 is the sum of the squares of the first and the third terms.

Let the first and the third terms be (6 - d) and (6 + d) respectively. (d = COMMON difference)

(6 - d)^2 + (6 + d)^2 = 104 \\ \\ = 36 - 12d + d^2 + 36 + 12d + d^2 = 104 \\ \\ = 72 + 2d^2 = 104 \\ \\ 2d^2 = 104 - 72 = 32 \\ \\ d^2 = \frac{32}{2} = 16 \\ \\ d = \sqrt{16} = <klux>4</klux>

∴ 4 is the common difference.

T_{1} = 6 - 4 = 2 \\ \\ T_{3} = 6 + 4 = 10

∴ The NUMBERS are 2, 6, and 10.

Neeta thinks that all plant have the same kind of stem.do you agree with her?why?

Answer»

No, we do not AGREE with NEETA that all plants have the same KIND of stem. It is not true. For example, the stems of newly grown plants is soft and weak. By the time it grows, its stem grows and BECOMES thick and ultimately when it becomes an ADULT its stem changes to cork or bark.

Similarly, stems of herbs are soft as compared to shrubs.

ΔABC is an isosceles triangle in which AB=AC. Show that ∠B=∠C. (Hint : Draw AP⊥ BC) (Using RHS congruence rule)

Answer»

Answer:

∠B = ∠C

Step-by-step explanation:

ΔABC is an isosceles triangle in which AB=AC

Let draw AP ⊥ BC

in Δ ABP

AB² = AP² +  BP²

in Δ ACP

AC² = AP² + CP²

AB = AC

Squaring both sides

=> AB² = AC²

so equating both EQUATION

AP² +  BP² = AP² + CP²

=> BP² = CP²

=> BP = CP

in  Δ ABP  & Δ ACP

AB = AC  AP is commom

BP = CP

all sides are equal

=> Δ ABP  ≅ Δ ACP

=> ∠B = ∠C

Find the equivalent fraction of 3/5 having denominator 30 and numerater 24

Answer»

Question 1

Leave the fraction in ratio form,

3 : 5 = Numerator : 30

You can see that to CHANGE the denominator from 5 to 30, you have to multiply 5 by 6 so the numerator of the fraction you are asked to FIND also has to be MULTIPLIED by 6.

3 : 5 = (3 × 6) : 30

3 : 5 = 18 : 30

Change 18 : 30 into fraction form to get \frac{18}{30}.

Question 2

Do the same as in question 1 (except that you fill in the space of the numerator since it is the number given).

3 : 5 = 24 : Denominator

To get 24, 3 is multiplied by 8 therefore 5 is also multiplied by 8 to get the denominator.

3 : 5 = 24 : (5 × 8)

3 : 5 = 24 : 40

Hence the equivalent fraction is \frac{24}{40}.

What is the solution to the system that is created by the equation y= -x+6 and the graph shown below?A. (–8, –4)B.(–4, –2)C. (4, 2)D. (6, 3)

Answer» HELLO mate!

As given

y = - x + 6

Keep once x = - 8 and y = - 4
- 4 = - ( - 8 ) + 6

Hence, this is not EQUATION for graph.

Keep once x = - 4 and y = - 2

- 2 = - ( - 4 ) + 6

Hence its also not solution.

Keep once x = 4 and y = 2

2 = - 4 + 6
2 = 2

Hence, its the solution for given graph.

Keep once x = 6 and y = 3

3 = - 6 + 6

Hence, its not solution for given graph.

Therefore answer is option (C) [ 4,2 ]

Hope it helps
