Try to construct a triangle with 5cm, 8cm and 1cm. Is it possible or not? Why? Give your justification? |

Answer» Dear student, Answer: Impossible to construct Δ with given sides. Reason: To construct a triangle, normally these conditions are given → we have at least one angle and TWO sides → Two angles and one side For constructing triangle only with three sides ,check the condition as follows: Step 1: Take any three length. Step 2: Check the sum of any two sides, if it is greater than third side ,then construction of that Δ is possible,otherwise not. Given LENGTH1: AB: 5 cm,Let us assume triangle ΔABC Length 2:BC = 8 cm length 3:AC = 1 cm So,now check to add any two sides AB+BC = 5+8 = 13 >AC AB+AC = 5+1 = 6 < BC ∴ CONDITION FAILS BC+AC = 8+1 =9 >AB so,impossible to construct that triangle. hope it helps you. |
