A prisoner is told "If you tell a lie we will hang you; if you tell the truth we will shoot you." What can he say to save himself?

Answer»

ANSWER:

"you will hang me"

Explanation:

If they hang him, then the statement was true and they COULD only hang him for telling a lie. If they shoot him, then it MAKES the statement a lie and they were only to shoot him for telling the truth. An ALTERNATE solution is to say, “You will not shoot me,” leading to the same quandary for the killers.

A particle moves along X-axis with speed6 m/s for the first half distance of a journey and thesecond half distance with a speed 3 m/s. Theaverage speed in the total journey is

Answer»

Answer:

4 m/s

Explanation:

Let TOTAL distance of journey by S

Time TAKEN for first half journey

T1 = Distance / Speed

= (S/2) / 6

= S/12

Time taken for SECOND half journey

t2 = Distance / Speed

= (S/2) / 3

= S/6

Average speed = Total distance / Total time

= S / (t1 + t2)

= S / (S/12 + S/6)

= S / [S(1/12 + 1/6)]

= 1 / (1/12 + 1/6)

= 1 / (1/12 + 2/12)

= 1 / (3/12)

= 12 / 3

= 4 m/s

12.

Answer»

Answer:

2m/s

Explanation:

u=12/3=4m/s,v=30/3m/s=10m/s.

a=v-u/t=10-4/3=2m/s

A gun of mass M fires a bullet of mass m with a kinetic energy E.The velocity of recoil of gun is

Answer»

Given that,

Mass of gun = M

Mass of bullet = m

Kinetic ENERGY of bullet = E

We need to calculate the velocity of gun

Using conservation of MOMENTUM

Mv_{1}=mv_{2}

v_{1}=\dfrac{mv_{2}}{M}...(I)

We need to calculate the RECOIL velocity of gun

Using formula of kinetic energy

K.E=\dfrac{1}{2}mv_{2}^2

Put the VALUE into the formula

E=\dfrac{1}{2}mv_{2}^2

v_{2}=\sqrt{\dfrac{2E}{m}}

Now, put the value of v₂ in equation (I)

v_{1}=\dfrac{m\times(\sqrt{\dfrac{2E}{m}})}{M}

v_{1}=\dfrac{\sqrt{2mE}}{M}

\dfrac{\sqrt{2mE}}{M}Hence, The recoil velocity of gun is

Working of generator

Answer»

Answer:

Explanation:

Generators are basically coils of electric conductors, normally copper wire, that are tightly wound onto a metal core and are mounted to turn around inside an EXHIBIT of large magnets. An electric conductor moves through a magnetic field, the magnetism will interface with the electrons in the conductor to INDUCE a flow of electrical current inside it.

The conductor coil and its core are CALLED the armature, connecting the armature to the shaft of a mechanical power source, for example an motor, the copper conductor can turn at exceptionally increased speed over the magnetic field.

The point when the generator armature FIRST STARTS to turn, then there is a weak magnetic field in the iron pole shoes. As the armature turns, it starts to raise voltage. Some of this voltage is making on the field windings through the generator regulator. This impressed voltage builds up stronger winding current, raises the strength of the magnetic field. The expanded field produces more voltage in the armature. This, in turn, make more current in the field windings, with a resultant higher armature voltage. At this time the signs of the shoes depended on the direction of flow of current in the field winding. The opposite signs will give current to flow in wrong direction.

28.

If velocity v of a particle moving on a straight lineas a function of time t is given as v = 5-t (m/s)then the distance covered by the particle in first10 s is(1) 5 m(2) 15 m(3) 25 m(4) 50 m

Answer»

Answer:25 m

Explanation:

Since the question is asking for DISTANCE

So FIRST TAKE out the maximum TIME by putting v=0

t comes out to be 5S

Now integrate the equation of velocity to get equation for displacement which comes out to be

x = 5t -t^2/2

Now put 5 in the equation this will give displacement in 5s.For distance in next 5s multiply the result by two.

Thus answer comes out to be 25.

Solve it and if you have any doubt feel free to ask.
