A sum of rs 2700 is to be used to give eight cash prizes to student of a school for their overall academic performance. If each prize is rs 25 more than its preciding prize find the value of each of the prizes

Answer»

Let the first cash prize = x

so NEXT 7 cash PRIZES would be consecutive

that is x+25, x+50, x+75, x+100, x+125, x+150, x+175

Adding all gives x + x+25 + x+50 + x+75 + x+100 + x+125 + x+150 + x+175 = 2700

8x + 700 = 2700

8x = 2000

x = 250

So value of first prize = 250

all consecutive prize will be 250 + 25= 275

250 + 50= 300

250 + 75= 325

250 + 100= 350

250 + 125= 375

250 + 150= 400

250 + 175= 425

If x+y=4, then find x³+y³+12xy-64

Answer»

x³ + y³ + 12XY - 64

x³ + y³ - 4³ + 3(4XY) (64 = 4³)

(x + y - 4)(x² + y² + 4² - xy - 4Y - 4x)

x + y = + 4

( 4 + 4) * (x² + y² + 4² - xy - 4y - 4x)

0 * (x² + y² + 4² - xy - 4y - 4x)

= 0

In the adjacent figure PQ || ST, ∠PQR=110° and ∠RST=130°, find ∠QRS.[Hint : Draw a line parallel to ST through point R.]

Answer»

Interior angles on the same SIDE of the transversal:The pair of interior angles on the same side of the transversal are called consecutive interior angles or allied angles or co interior angles.

If a transversal INTERSECTS two PARALLEL Lines then each pair of interior angles on the same side of the  transversal is supplementary.

If a transversal intersects two lines such that a pair of alternate interior angles is EQUAL then the two lines are parallel.

SOLUTION :

GIVEN :PQ || ST, ∠PQR = 110° and ∠RST = 130°

Construction:A line XY parallel to PQ and ST is drawn.

∠PQR + ∠QRX = 180° (Angles on the same side of transversal.)

110° + ∠QRX = 180°

∠QRX = 180° - 110°

∠QRX = 70°

Also,∠RST + ∠SRY = 180° (Angles on the same side of transversal.)

130° + ∠SRY = 180°

∠SRY = 50°

Now,∠QRX +∠SRY + ∠QRS = 180°

70° + 50° + ∠QRS = 180°

∠QRS = 60°

Hence, ∠QRS = 60°

The cost price of a machine is 2,50,000. If the rate of depreciation is 10% per year find the depreciation in price of the machine after two years.

Answer» HI ,

Cost price of the machine( C.P ) = Rs250000

Rate of depreciation ( d ) = 10% per year

Time ( T ) = 2 years

Cost of machine after 2 years

=C.P[(100 - d)/100]^T

= 250000[ ( 100 - 10 )/100 ]²

= 250000 × 90/100 × 90/100

= Rs 202500

Depreciation = Rs 250000 - 202500

= Rs 47500

If a=5+2√6 , then find the value of a2+1/a2

Answer»

Identities USED :

{(a + b)}^{2}  =  {a}^{2}  +  {b}^{2}  + 2ab \\  \\  {(a - b)}^{2}  =  {a}^{2}  +  {b}^{2}  - 2ab \\  \\ (a + b)(a - b) =  {a}^{2}   -   {b}^{2}

Given,

a = 5+ 2√6

So,

\frac{1}{a}  =  \frac{1}{5 + 2 \sqrt{6} }  \\

On rationalizing the DENOMINATOR we get,

\frac{1}{a}  =  \frac{1}{5 + 2 \sqrt{6} }  \times  \frac{5 - 2 \sqrt{6} }{5 - 2 \sqrt{6} }  \\  \\  \frac{1}{a} =  \frac{5 - 2 \sqrt{6} }{ {(5)}^{2} -  {(2 \sqrt{6} )}^{2}  }  \\  \\  \frac{1}{a}  =  \frac{5 - 2 \sqrt{6} }{25 - 24}  \\  \\  \frac{1}{a}  = 5 - 2 \sqrt{6}

Now,

a +  \frac{1}{a}  = (5 + 2 \sqrt{6} ) + (5 - 2 \sqrt{6} ) \\  \\ a +  \frac{1}{a}  = 5 + 2 \sqrt{6}  + 5 - 2 \sqrt{6}  \\  \\ a +  \frac{1}{a}  = 10

Squaring both the SIDES we get,

{(a +  \frac{1}{a} )}^{2}  =  {(10)}^{2}  \\  \\  {a}^{2}  +    {( \frac{1}{a} )}^{2}    + 2  \times a \times  \frac{1}{a}  = 100 \\  \\  {a}^{2}  +  \frac{1}{ {a}^{2} }  = 100 - 2 \\  \\  { a }^{2}  +  \frac{1}{ {a}^{2} }  = 98

In a forest there are 40,000 trees. Find the expected number of trees after 3 years if the objective is to increase the number at the rate 5% per year.

Answer»

Hello,

Answer: 46,000 trees

solution:

At starting number of trees are 40,000.

Objective is to increase 5%

so 5% of 40,000 = (5*40000)/100

= 20,0000/100

= 2000

In one years 2000 PLANTS to be planted,so in three years = 3*2000 trees

= 6000 trees

Expected number of tree after 3 years = 46,000 trees.

2) If 5% is calculated on present trees
after 1 year TOTAL trees 42,000.

5% of 42,000= (5*42000)/100

=2100

after second year trees are 42000+2100

= 44100 trees

5% of 44100 = (5*44100)/100
= 2205

after 3 year expected trees= 44100+2205

= 46305 trees.

I had solved by both way,as from QUESTION it is not cleared .

In the figure., DE parallel BC. Find the length of AE.

Answer»

Answer:

Value \: of \: AE = \frac{<klux>6</klux>\times 3}{BC}\\=\frac{18}{BC}

Step-by-step explanation:

From the figure ,

DE //BC ,

AC = 6 cm, DE = 3 cm.

ABC ~ ADE

\frac{AE}{AC}=\frac{DE}{BC}

/*Since , CORRESPONDING sides are in proportion */

\implies \frac{AE}{6}=\frac{3}{BC}

\implies AE = \frac{6\times 3}{BC}\\=\frac{18}{BC}

THEREFORE,

Value \: of \: AE = \frac{6\times 3}{BC}\\=\frac{18}{BC}
