I have a 2 TeraByte Hard Disk Drive, i want it to be divided into 5 parts such that 1 part is for the operating system which should be little bit larger compared to other 4 parts individually.
I want the procedure to be DONE and the memory math calculation for arranging such parts.

Hello to all. I am wondering if there is an alternative (preferably open source) for creating Visual Basic and Macro Enabled files.
This is part of school, and i do not have Microsoft Office, due to having to re-install operating system on my computer that did have it after it got severely infected with a virus.

I know that the code itself can be created and written in Notepad++, but the design of the windows i am not sure about. Any help appreciated. Hello to all. I am wondering if there is an alternative (preferably open source) for creating Visual Basic and Macro Enabled files.

I am not in a university, nor is the class focused on Microsoft Products. Simply, the class is a class my school has me in, basically being mentored by one of the IT techs. The current curriculum is visual basic, and i do not have MS office, but the school does on their own computers.

It seems to be Visual Basic to run with Excel 2010 in macro enabled spreadsheets at the moment. Im sure this is more then less a spring pad to get into the pure visual basic itself. Whether Visual Basic .NET should be considered as just another version of Visual Basic or a completely different language is a topic of debate. This is not obvious, as once the methods that have been moved around and that can be automatically converted are accounted for, the basic syntax of the language has not seen many "breaking" changes, just additions to support new features like structured exception handling and short-circuited expressions.

I was thinking of VB6.

The OP started with wanting to use VBA. It seems some IT  person told him it could be used to learn Visual Basic. It is not clear if the OP wants to learn VBA or just any edition of Visual Basic.

If he is new to programming, I would not recommend VB6. Even if he could get it free.

He needs to say if the instructor specifies a certain version of Microsoft Visual Basic. One would think an alert instructor would give his students a clue about how to download a free copy . Unless that was part of the first assignment.

Hi, I am fairly new to Access and am trying to Omit two words from a query search.  It works when I use the criteria [Not Like ("*elementary*")] to eliminate the word elementary.  I also need to Omit the word SCHOOL and Schools as well.  I do not want any result to return if they contain these three words.  So I do not want to SEE "Dawson School" or "Lincoln Elementary" or "Academy Charter Schools". Has anyone got the latest version of this player software?

Used to like RealPlayer but since about version 15 or 16 i have become increasingly frustrated with it, its become more and more cloud BASED which is fine but most of the things i use it for are offline and that sideof it is less user friendly these DAYS i feel. RealPlayer Cloud was OK but RealTimes is the worst yet and keeps crashing or freezing when it cant connect to the net.

I am seriously wishing i could do away with it but i have video files that wont play without it as they were created by it. For other files i can use Itunes or Windows Media Player (on 7 at least) in place of RealPlayer, as i am much HAPPIER USING those players.

I would uninstall it and go back to an older version but heres the rub, i cant! The latest RealPlayer seems to have integrated itself into my system and neither Windows Uninstaller, CCleaner, or 'Should I Remove it' can find it to allow me to uninstall it, So I am apparently stuck with it/ I have download files for older versions on the PC but with the newest version on the machine i dont think i can run any of them. This is on windows 7 by the way. Strangely enough i have the previous version of Real Player (Realplayer Cloud) on a machine running 10 and i could uninstall  it fine, but i have no need to.

Any suggestions please?Unhide hidden files, search in the core for the realplayer files, and delete them. maybe that will help?Since posting my Realplayer has updated itself and will now uninstall properly, but I haven't done it because it seems to work better now! Im having trouble viewing my thumnails (?) in chrome. I have ADBLOCKPLUS installed as well as Avast Online Security, and im not sure if maybe it is a combination of them or some settings that are buggered. It is also blocking thumbnails on google. Today many people work together on things, at work, at home, in school or in community goals. At some point paperwork is needed and the idea of using computers comes up.
That is when somebody knowledgeable has to step up and tell people how to best use their energy. Trying to teach everybody how to use a computer is futile. But there are others ways to get people to document what thy are doing.
So then, some in the group are innovators that can express ideas very well verbally. Then others who listen transcribe the ideas onto some form of permanent record. At one time clay tablets were popular. Much later somebody discovered how to make paper.
Still, verbal communication is still the  best way people communicate.  Next come reading and writing skills. It is more important to know how to read than  knowing how to fill an ink pen. If you write well, somebody else can fill the ink pen for you. Each person should do what he does best.
Sad to say, some who believe they are technology experts can not read well and have poor communications skills. So a work group has to be lead by those who best understand how to use human resources. Human Reason sewn must come before Computer Power.

I have a user who created a PPTX file and saved it to my network. When I look at it on the Explorer TREE the file size sits it at empty. When I try and open it I get an error opening the file as well:

Now there is nothing wrong with any hardware. This is the only time I have seen this happen. The file was not empty at the time it was originally saved, but this is how it sits now. Has anyone seen this phenomenon before? I tried to UPLOAD it, but the file extension pptx is not allowed

Recently i randomly got the problem that when i run a game or SOMETHING like it my laptop will just shut down.
When i try to restart i GET the normal loading screen... but then its shuts off. When rebooting a few times or just waiting it out and turning my laptop on, i get some detecting problem/automatic repair, when i "repair" my laptop it will load for ever. So when finally for some reason my laptop works i can just watch youtube google stuff etc, but when i launch a game it crashes so i opened task managr once, opened a game... in the disc or something its shoots up to 20%, 40%, 65%, 78%, 86% and theen 100% and its shuts down. Ive been told that my driver might be outdated or any other update, so i went to the asus website typed my version thingy (R500VD), i had 115 evailable updates so i looked for a driver update as i have been told to, in the "other section" i found a evailable driver update, went and install it, run the installer... its done, i have to restart my laptop but when it was restarting it shut down AGAIN, so i tried re setting my laptop several times, tried to install driver update on site, i even tried to update everything on the computer via update center but it wouldnt let me update to WIN 8.1 cause i kept GETTING failed to configute bla bla bla so i cant get that windows 10 which might fix the problem.

Data in command shell and windows explorer can be sorted many WAYS and one way is by FileName in alpha numerics where numbers come first and then A to Z so files ascending WOULD be:

Additionally Windows Indexes Files to know where they are so that when you open up Windows Explorer to look for a file its faster at gathering the information about that/those file(s). WITHOUT an INDEX Windows would have to discover what could be millions of files each time it opens a new window showing files in folders or directories.The question sounds like homework...and makes no sense.

I bought a used version of PINNACLE Studio 17 and am completely lost (I've only used Windows Movie Maker previously).  I was wondering if it's possible with this program to edit audio tracks separately on a video?  For example, if I have a video file with dialogue and background music at the same time, is it possible to remove the music while LEAVING the dialogue intact?Anyone?SHORT ANSWER, NO.
Long answer. Most video files have the audio tracks merged into a left and RIGHT stereo mix. So you only have two tracks to work with.
In some cases you might remove the voice track, but not the music.

I have been USING Windows Live Mail (with hotmail in it) for many years on my desktop and notebook. I recently had my desktop reformatted, it came back fine. In the meantime I had been using Windows Live Mail combined with hotmail on my notebook and it started to give me msgs about not being able to download or send.

Then when I started using W Live Mail on the desktop, the problems started with Windows Live Mail and Hotmail again.

I was advised to instal Microsoft Outlook 2010, and when I installed it I got a message (see attached). I left the screen for 2 hours, when I came back, nothing has changed, and I cant click on "Upgrade Outlook Connector" EITHER as I get another msg. (also attached).

I wondered if my having Microsoft Outlook 2003 installed had anything to do with it - but have deleted it now and the problem persists.

Can you help please?

I have a bunch of music on my Windows 7 PC. Some of it is from years ago. MOSTLY in WMA format. When I open Windows Media Player and try to play a song, I get the following error:

"Page cannot be found - musiclicenses.liquiddigitalmedia.com". This happens on both WMP12 and WMP11. Is there any WAY around this?

It's effecting over 100 songs. I've also tried VLM media player and get an error message there as well: I think it says "authorization error."

Can anyone help?

I am converting a .mp4 video FILE to .avi format (It is the only choice I have on the hardware device I plan hooking to my television). I am converting the .mp4 with XVid4PSP. So to get the hardware device I will play the FINISHED work on I have to use the AC3 format. I have been using this software for a while now and by default have just used AC3 256k for audio encoding. In the drop down menu there are other options beside that being: 192k, 384k 448k & 640k. Will the audio become any louder or more quiet if I go up or down with those choices?Those numbers, 192k, 384k etc are the audio bit rate, the k stands for kilobits per second. The encoding rate used during conversion should be the same or greater than the bitrate of the original audio. If it is less the audio will be more compressed than it was originally and may lose quality, although you'd probably have to lose QUITE a lot of bit rate before you notice. Choosing a different bit rate will not change the volume of the audio in the output file. Using a bit rate HIGHER than the original will not make the output audio BETTER quality; it will just make the output file bigger than it needs to be.

Can a Full Format make The HDD unusable?Not as long as the hard drive is working properly to begin with.I just thought I"d add a comment to be perfectly clear on this subject.  A full formatting not affect the physical condition and MECHANICAL FUNCTIONING of the hard drive but it will erase the hard drive and the drive will need installation of an operating system if it is going to be used as the PRIMARY hard drive for a computer system.  If it is merely going to be used as a storage device, such as a secondary internal drive or an external drive, then no operating system is needed on it; in other words, the operating system would exist on another drive. More information about hard drive formats is found outside of the windows knowledge base. Linux users sometimes get involved with rare formats that are not compatible with Windows. GPART is a Linux utility that gets involved.

Overall, that is what most of the experts say. They say it is good, but you can live without it. The main advantage of Windows 10 is that it gives Microsoft a platform that they can adjust to suit changing trends in the marketplace and fit off malware.

Myself, I like it better that Windows 8. But I do not use it for everyday use. For one thing, the display fonts are not as good on my monitor. It looks better in Windows 7.

I use three systems. Windows XP, Windows 7 and Windows 10. Because of my limited ability to adjust to new things, I have to use XP for my everyday yaks. But each day I spend a LITTLE time trying Windows 10. So I no longer have time to explore Linux.

Bear this in mind. If you upgrade from Windows 7 to Windows 10, you can oily use Windows 10. But my system is legal because I had two legal versions of Windows 7. The 32 bit version was used to upgrade to the 32 bit Windows 10.

Now if you like Windows 7, and have only one legal install, stick with it if you like.

I just reinstalled Yahoo Messenger 11 and I wanted to check my conversation history since nostalgia hit me pretty hard yesterday. It was my first account and I had it since about 2005 or 2006, and I remember that the option to save the conversations was always there.

Unfortunately, my archives only go back to 8/10/2011 (September 8th). Furthermore, prior to stopping using Yahoo Messenger a couple years back, I remember being able to see older messages, although no changes to the conversation history preferences were made, meaning the option to save archives was still there. The error I keep getting is There was a problem retrieving more messages for...

Could this be an issue with the current version of Yahoo Messenger? Could it be that I had the archives only locally saved?

Tried READING help articles, guides, other similar questions asked, but to no avail. And when I also check the conversations in Yahoo Mail, I can only go as far back as 2011. Does this mean that every message prior to 2011 is lost? That would be EXTREMELY depressing.

Please help me recover my written memoirs!

So you would have had a version prior to 10. At version 10 we required all customers to put their archives on the servers - if they wanted access to them via Messenger. By version 11 we no longer prompted for this or had any ability to do so. This means, if you just installed Messenger again, you PROBABLY missed the window where you could convert your archives. Most likely they are still stored locally on the machine you had back then. A lot of folks refused to convert their archives between 2010 - 2013 so it's possible you opted out of this.

microsoft office 2010 on desktop from a paid for download,can i move to a laptop or do i have to BUY another?If you uninstall it from the desktop you can move it to the laptop i believe...Do you still have the PRODUCT key?  Did you download an installer or was it a download and install in one operation?

Make sure you have the product key before you uninstall, if you don't know it or have it written down somewhere you can use a program like Magic Jelly Bean keyfinder to retrieve the product key.  If you don't have an installer than you won't be able to install on the laptop.Maybe relevant:

Hi guys,

I have a number of hard drives on my computer and over the years ive thought i was installing programs in the right places but after a few years of use, things are starting to fill up. Im starting to realize that when i was installing things essentially all willy-nilly that i wasnt doing it properly, and now that i am trying to uninstall various programs i am AFRAID they arent uninstalling properly; sometimes its 'sketchier' software (not illegal/pirated, just freeware) and because they are installed on hard drives other than my OS, i cant simply use the add/remove programs tool (to my knowledge).

Sorry if that was a horrid description of my problem. Basically i have everything spread out of several hard drives. My OS is on an SSD and that is getting dangerously close to full. id like to free up some space on that, and im wondering if there is a WAY to 'properly' install/reinstall things so that i can use the control panel to see them all at once across all hard drives? is that a thing? Is it possible to move a program to a different hard drive without having to fully reinstall it?

Also could someone recommend a good uninstall utility or a thorough way to ensure im properly removing programs?

NOTE: if it would be easier to just reinstall my OS id be open to that too, though again, is there a way i could selectively save those few programs that i want?

After I upgraded my Lenovo THINKPAD to WINDOWS 10 I have had a problem with Microsoft Word. After opening the program, it remains open for a second and then closes all by itself. There is no ERROR message or anything else on screenthat says why it would be closing. It did not have this problem in Windows 7.1) Only Word? How about the other Office apps (or do you only have Word)?

2) Is this a legitimate, retail version of Word (or Office)?

TRY reinstalling the Office but first boot the computer into safe mode and test if word still behaves LIKE that.

when trying to open a spreadsheet I get the BAR that says some content is DISABLED. when I CLICK the button to enable data I get a message that says "This version of the USP Excel template is not valid. the program will close.". when I click on the close button of the error message, excel closes.

Thank youWhere you get the template?  Did it PREVIOUSLY work for you?  Have you tried other templates?  The template, which is REALLY just a worksheet, was sent from a company branch in Germany. They have sent other sheets in the past with no problems. We have received and sent sheets to branches in the past.

This particular sheet gave the error from the beginning.

I have sent an email to the originator to get the version of office that they are using as well as a fresh copy in case this one somehow became corrupted.

Ok, the sheet was created in Excel 2010, and is trying to be opened with Excel 2010. A new one was sent, and we get the same error message.

Lets not stress out

Before you say: "Oh, just do this", trust me, I've tried it. I need actual help. I've been trying now for nearly two months (at least once every week after researching DIFFERENT METHODS) to get my newly built gaming computer running.

The error/ problem I'm experiencing is that the computer is not posting, nor booting. MEANWHILE, the red "CPU_led" icon on the board glows red and doesn't turn off, indicating a problem. The board's error code reader also displays "00", which comes on when the unit is plugged in but not turned on, which means it isn't booting or posting.

First, I've tried using BIOS Flashback and eZ Update 2 from ASUS to update the BIOS on my motherboard, downloading and redownloading the BIOS version multiple times from ASUS' website after it did not work, time after time. I've also tried booting with one stick of RAM, booting with only one of each 5 storage devices that I have hooked up to the system, getting a new CPU, and much more! The parts are all verified to have worked, as they all light up or spin and everything, and I had two different CPUs, RAM sticks, and storage devices that I tested.

ASSUMING you swapped out the PSU so you know that voltages are all up to par with the load requirements. Assuming all connections are correct 12V molex etc in addition to power supply main connection.

Why haven't you tried a different motherboard yet?

I have fought with some of the hardest motherboard failures in the past convinced that I should be able to fix the issue. Maybe its a VRM, Maybe its a Cap, Maybe I can desolder and solder a new BIOS ROM chip to bricked board etc. I have found that its less frustrating just spending money on a new motherboard if that's what it points to.

I'd say that your looking at swapping out motherboard with a new one, and with known good components you'd be back up and running.

I use my computer without the battery, only CONNECTED to the plug, and for some time I noticed that my processor only arrive to 2.57GHZ(even in stress), and then yesterday I put my battery in the computer and that's when I noticed that after all my processor reaches 3.10GHZ, is that normal? (i have my battery SETTINGS on high performance).Why run without the battery to begin with?

Its dangerous to run a laptop without battery. Reason why is because DIP in POWER will cause it to crash and this can corrupt the HDD or and some SSD's when the power dips. Laptops are best run with battery in them because the laptops battery when POWERED off the wall acts like a UPS backup power source.My only reason to run my computer without the battery is because i didn't wanted to have an addicted battery, i guess i'm wrong.
Thanks btw.No Problem, I'd definitely not run without battery unless that battery was junk with a shorted cell and cooked when plugged in and no money to replace battery and in that case, I'd run the laptop through a battery backup if available to try to protect from corruption to the HDD. Additionally running without battery will cause your power supply to roast as for its carrying the full weight of the load and run hotter than if a healthy battery was installed and  fully charged with charge/discharge cycles that the charging circuit goes through.

I have been using Kodak Easyshare software for years, EVEN though I'm computer STUPID, and it has worked fine for me.  I have always been able to drag the pictures I want to email to the side and click on email and send them.  Now, all of a sudden, that is not working.  It SEEMS as if it wants to go to the Kodak Gallery (never have used that before) instead of just emailing them out through my regular email account.  Does anyone know what the fix is for this?  I went to their support page and did what it said, but it still does the same thing.  I've been looking on my computer to try to figure it out, but I don't understand half the stuff I look at (like an http proxy server- does that even apply?) for the problem.  Can anyone enlighten me?  Thanks in advance!

I wanted to give my DFI Lanparty box a second change and replaced most of the hardware. DFI went out of the Lanparty business and STOPPED providing firmware updates such as the appropriate BIOS updates; PHOENIX referred me to  BIOSAGENT.
I did the test and yes i did need the BIOS update,  I shelled out the nearly 30 Euros and after two days got an email that unfortunately they had mistaken my motherboard for something very similar, there was no update for me, but i could consider myself a member for one year.
I asked the full and immediate refund for their FAILING to deliver,  but no success so far. I will file a complaint with their chamber of commerce once i find out which city they are in in GERMANY.

STAY CLEAR.  THIS APPEARS NOT TO BE AN HONEST COMPANY, BUT AN ORDINARY RIP-OFF.

Anyway,  i got a site and a password now which gives me access to ten BIOS updates i do not need within the year. Anyone?

 Just a bit of advice. Don't know how your Chamber of Commerce work in your country but in Canada going to them for dissatisfaction issues with a company would be an absolute waste of TIME. Instead if you can find a TV station that has a customer complaint person that will investigate your complaint with the concerned retailer and intercede on your behalf that is often an effective method.  I have  users Exchange archive mailbox which gets QUARANTINED all the time.
 After some research, I found out how to release the archive mailbox from Quarantine, but after a few minutes the mailbox TURNS back to Quarantined STATE.
 I tried to export the archive to a pst file, but the time is not enough to export it before the mailbox turns back to Quarantined state.
 Can i turn off the Quarantine feature for the hole exchange 2013 mailbox server? So that i can export the corrupt archive to a pst file?
 Or any tools to fix the corrupt mailbox?  Any workaround here?

You will need to use the New-MailboxRepairRequest to repair the corrupted archive mailbox. Run the below COMMAND in the Exchange Management Shell to detect and repair for all corruption types on the mailbox:
New-MailboxRepairRequest -Mailbox User -CorruptionType ProvisionedFolder,SearchFolder,AggregateCounts,Folderview -Archive
Keep in mind that the mailbox cannot be accessed while the repair runs. You can use the Get-MailboxRepairRequest cmdlet to check the status of the repair. See the below articles for more information on these cmdlets.

Browsing the web is going to frustrating will dialup; that's simply a fact.   The site you mentioned has some heavily-coded pages that are simply not going to load quickly, if at all, using dialup. Is a dialup Internet connection necessary for you for some reason?  Is a faster service not available in your area?

I have an Asus laptop which is in need of an overhaul software wise. Looking at the list of programs, there is a lot of preinstalled software that I don't really know what they do or even if I need them. Much of it is I am sure bloatware but how can I find out what I can safely remove and what should stay?

And, of course, you can always do an Internet SEARCH for specific software/apps for info if you WANT to know more about it. I did Google it SOYBEAN. Didn't HELP much. That's why ASKED for help hereProvide the names of the apps and we'll see if we can help

This is about VLC (VideoLAN) Player. I can't for the life of me figure out what it is. I am running windows 8.1 64bit. And running 2.2.1 Stable Edition 64bit.
