Answer» Following are the main measures to protect oneself from exploitation as consumer:1. Consumer's Educationconsumer's education and awareness is the most important measure for the solution of exploitation. The government has made several laws for the protection of consumers. But it is observed that the laws are not known to general public. Therefore, proper education of consumer's right should be provided to consumers.2. Purchase of standardized goods ;Several types of goods are available in the market. But for the safety against exploitation consumers should always buy standardized goods. Goods which aremarked as ISI, AGMAEK and HALLMARKare considered standardized goods.3. Taking cash memo and receipt :To take cash memo along with purchase of a good is very important. Due to taking cash memo the legal proceeding can be done in case of the quality of goods is inferior or does not work properly before the given period of time.4. Not to be lured by advertisements :Big companies publicized their products by attractive advertisements through television or other media. The advertisements are shown in such a manner that it has a psychological effect on consumers and so consumers become desperate to purchase the goods. But the reality is this that consumer should be alert and aware of advertisements. Before the purchasing of goods the consumer should completely verify quality, price, and quantity etc of goods.5. To complain collectively :A consumer alone cannot do anything against the producers and sellers, but if complaint is lodged collectively then it has more effect.6. To verify the expiry date :Whenever we purchase a medicine, we always check the expiry date. After expiry date the medicine has no effect and there is also a possibility of bad effects of medicine. Mention any two ways in which thegovernment gives health information tothe people. |
Answer» Health system strengthening Important issues that the health systems must confront are lack of financial and material resources, health workforce issues and the stewardship challenge of implementing pro-equity health policies in a pluralistic environment.[5] The National Rural Health Mission (NRHM) launched by the Government of India is a leap forward in establishing effective integration and convergence of health services and affecting architectural correction in the health care delivery system in India. Health information system The Integrated Disease Surveillance Project was set up to establish a dedicated highway of information relating to disease occurrence required for prevention and containment at the community level, but the slow pace of implementation is due to poor efforts in involving critical actors outside the public sector. Health profiles published by the government should be used to help communities prioritize their health problems and to inform local decision making. Public health laboratories have a good capacity to support the government's diagnostic and research activities on health risks and threats, but are not being utilized efficiently. Mechanisms to monitor epidemiological challenges like mental health, occupational health and other environment risks are yet to be put in place. |

Answer» Britain came in the 1600s (with Sir Thomas Roe) when India was under the rule of Jehangir. India was a stronger nation back then. So, the British were contended to be traders. However, Nadir Shah's (of Iran) invasion of India in 1738, changed the picture (See: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nad...). The Mughal rulers were badly defeated and that signalled to the world that India was very weak. The East India Company immediately latched on and made use of the weakness. The timing was key. India had plenty of infighting. For instance, Tipu Sultan, who offered ferocious resistance against the Brits was undermined by our own rulers (Nizam of Hyderabad and Marathas) who surrounded the Mysore kingdom when British attacked him. The Marathas duly paid the price for the friendship with the devil with the Anglo-Maratha war in which they were badly defeated. British troops were well organized and used superior tactical & strategic skills on the warfield.French revolution and later the defeat of Napolean in 1815, distract the French from expanding their control in India. The British used this opportunity to kick out the other colonial powers from India.By the 18th century, India was under a crisis. The Aurangzeb's rule was quite bitter for non-Muslims and the Hindus were tired of Islamic rule. This gave rise to many Hindu kings (such as the Marathas). The East India Company rightly used this period to increase the divisions with their divide and rule policy.India had a very weak navy. Unlike islands like Britain or Japan, we didn't have enough incentives to build a strong navy. Naval superiority helped the British to gain and build the critical ports of India (Bombay, Madras, Calcutta) and build the empire from there. Britian was entering the age of industrial revolution at around the same time (1750) when Indian empires were weakened. The economic strength from industrial revolution gave the Brits an upper hand. |
