Two sarees were sold at 7,000 each. One at a loss of 10% and the otherat a gain of 10%. Find the loss or gain% for the entire transaction.co

Answer»

Answer:

Step-by-step explanation:

Here , it is CLEAR that there are 2 sarees sold .

S.P of each saree = Rs 7000.

Therefore , the S.P of 2 sarees = 7000 ×2 = Rs 14000.

As you know , the formula of C P = S.P/ 100 + gain% { - LOSS%} ×100

Now , putting that formula on

C.P of 1st saree = {7000/ 100 - 10} × 100

= 7000/90 × 100

= Rs 7777.77

C.P of 2nd saree= {7000/ 100+10} × 100

= 7000/ 110 × 100

= Rs 6363.63

Now, CALCULATING the whole C.P

Rs{7777.77 + 6363.63}

Rs 14141.4

Now, as you can see

C.P > S.P

So, there is a gain of

C.P - S.P

Rs 14141.4 - Rs 14000

Rs 141.4

Now , calculating the gain %

= 141.4 × 100 / 14141.4

= 0.999 %

So, we can estimate 0.999% to 1 %

Therefore, 1% is the answer

2. In a quadrilateral field ABCD, /B = 90, ° AB = 80 m, BC = 150 m, CD = 120 m andDA = 250 m. Find the area of the field in hectares. Find the price of the fleld ifit costs 12.000/hectare.

Answer»

\huge \bold \color{green} \mid \mid{ \underline{ \underline \red{required \: answer}}} \mid \mid

\bold {  {\underline{ \underline  \orange{given}}}}

angle B = 90°

AB = 80m

BC = 150m

CD = 120m

DA = 250m

\bold {  {\underline{ \underline  \orange{answer}}}} \:

Rs. 18,000

\bold {  {\underline{ \underline  \orange{solution}}}} \:

In right angle ∆ ABC

AB² + BC² = AC² ( by PYTHAGORAS THEOREM )

=> (80)² + (150)² = AC²

=> 6400 + 22500 = AC²

=> 28900 = AC

=> AC = 170m

ar( \triangle) =  \frac{1}{2}  \times b \times h \\  \\  \implies ar(ABC) =  \frac{1}{2}  \times 150 \times 80 \\  \\  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:   = 150 \times 40 \\  \\ \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:   \:     = 6000 {m}^{2} ............ar(i)

now we have to find area of ∆ACD by heron's formula

ar( \triangle) =  \sqrt{s(s - a)(s - b)(s - c)}  \\  \\ s =  \frac{a + b + c}{2}

so in triangle ACD

s =  \frac{AC + CD + DA}{2}  \\  \\ s =  \frac{170 + 120 + 250}{2}  \\  \\ s =  \frac{540}{2}  \\  \\ s = 270

then area of triangle ACD,

ar(acd) =  \sqrt{s(s - a)(s - b)(s - c)}  \\  \\  =  \sqrt{270(270 - 250)(270 - 120)(270 - 170)}   \\  \\  =  \sqrt{270 \times 20 \times 150 \times 100} \\  \\  =  \sqrt{27 \times 10 \times 2 \times 10 \times 15 \times 10 \times 10 \times 10}   \\  \\  = 100 \sqrt{27 \times 2 \times15 \times 10 }  \\  \\  = 100 \sqrt{3 \times 3 \times 3 \times 2 \times 3 \times 5 \times 2 \times 5}  \\  \\  = 100 \times 3 \times 3 \times 2 \times 5 \\  \\  = 9000 {m}^{2} ............ar(ii)

now area of quadrilateral ABCD is;

ar(ABCD) = ar(ABC) + ar(ACD)

\implies \: ar(abcd) = 6000 + 9000 \\  \\   \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  =  15000 {m}^{2}

so area of quadrilateral field is 15000m²

we KNOW that..

1 hectare = square METRE / 10000

\bold {\:so \: 15000 {m}^{2}  = 1.5hectare}

so area of field is 1.5 Hectare

cost = 12,000 / hectare

then price of field is;

\bold{1.5 \times cost \: of \: field} \\  \\   \bold{\implies  \: price \:  = 1.5 \times 12000} \\  \\   \bold{\implies \: price \: of \: field \:  = 18000 \: rs }

hence, price of the field is Rs. 18000

The numerator of a fraction is 5 less than the denominator. If 9 is added to both numerator and denominator . if become 2/3 . find the fraction.

Answer»

✬ Fraction = 1/6 ✬

Step-by-step explanation:

Given:

  • NUMERATOR of a fraction is 5 less than denominator.
  • After adding 9 to both the fraction becomes 2/3.

To Find:

  • What is the original fraction ?

Solution: Let numerator be x and denominator be y. Therefore,

➟ Fraction = Numerator/denominator

➟ Fraction = x/y

Also,

➟ x = y – 5.........i

[ Now adding 9 to both ]

  • New numerator = x + 9

  • New denominator = y + 9

A/q

  • New fraction = 2/3

\implies{\rm } x + 9/y + 9 = 2/3

\implies{\rm } 3(x + 9) = 2(y + 9)

\implies{\rm } 3x + 27 = 2y + 18

\implies{\rm } 3x – 2y = 18 – 27

\implies{\rm } 3(y – 5) – 2y = – 9

\implies{\rm } 3y – 15 – 2y = – 9

\implies{\rm } y = – 9 + 15

\implies{\rm } y = 6

So, fraction is

  • Denominator = 6
  • Numerator = 6 – 5 = 1

Hence, original fraction was 1/6.

=> 6400 + 22500 = AC²

=> 28900 = AC

=> AC = 170m

ar( \triangle) =  \frac{<klux>1</klux>}{2}  \times b \times h \\  \\  \implies ar(ABC) =  \frac{1}{2}  \times 150 \times 80 \\  \\  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:   = 150 \times 40 \\  \\ \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:   \:     = 6000 {m}^{2} ............ar(i)

now we have to find area of ∆ACD by heron's formula

ar( \triangle) =  \sqrt{s(s - a)(s - b)(s - c)}  \\  \\ s =  \frac{a + b + c}{2}

so in triangle ACD

s =  \frac{AC + CD + DA}{2}  \\  \\ s =  \frac{170 + 120 + 250}{2}  \\  \\ s =  \frac{540}{2}  \\  \\ s = 270

then area of triangle ACD,

ar(acd) =  \sqrt{s(s - a)(s - b)(s - c)}  \\  \\  =  \sqrt{270(270 - 250)(270 - 120)(270 - 170)}   \\  \\  =  \sqrt{270 \times 20 \times 150 \times 100} \\  \\  =  \sqrt{27 \times 10 \times 2 \times 10 \times 15 \times 10 \times 10 \times 10}   \\  \\  = 100 \sqrt{27 \times 2 \times15 \times 10 }  \\  \\  = 100 \sqrt{3 \times 3 \times 3 \times 2 \times 3 \times 5 \times 2 \times 5}  \\  \\  = 100 \times 3 \times 3 \times 2 \times 5 \\  \\  = 9000 {m}^{2} ............ar(ii)

now area of quadrilateral ABCD is;

ar(ABCD) = ar(ABC) + ar(ACD)

\implies \: ar(abcd) = 6000 + 9000 \\  \\   \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  =  15000 {m}^{2}

so area of quadrilateral field is 15000m²

we know that..

1 hectare = SQUARE metre / 10000

\bold {\:so \: 15000 {m}^{2}  = 1.5hectare}

so area of field is 1.5 Hectare

cost = 12,000 / hectare

then price of field is;

\bold{1.5 \times cost \: of \: field} \\  \\   \bold{\implies  \: price \:  = 1.5 \times 12000} \\  \\   \bold{\implies \: price \: of \: field \:  = <klux>18000</klux> \: rs }

hence, price of the field is Rs. 18000
