Six years ago, the ratio of the ages of Kunal and Sagar was 6 : 5. Four years hence, the ratio of their ages will be 11 : 10. What is Sagar's age at present?

Answer»

Let the ages of kunal and sagar before 6 YEARS be 6a and 5a

Kunal's age after four years = 6a + 10

Sagar's age after four years = 5a + 10

According to question,

( 6a + 10) /(5a + 10) = 11 /10

=> 60a + 100 = 55A + 110

=> 5a = 10

=> a = 2

Sagar's present age = 5 (2) + 6

= 10 + 6

= 16 years

A man sold a toaster at a profit of 10%. Had he purchased it for 5% Less and sold it for ₹ 56 more, he could have gained 25%. For how much did he buy it for

Answer»

Answer:

Rs 640

Step-by-step explanation:

A man sold a toaster at a profit of 10%. Had he purchased it for 5% Less and sold it for ₹ 56 more, he could have gained 25%. For how much did he buy it for

Let say Toaster Cost Price = Rs C

man sold a toaster at a profit of 10%.

=> SELLING Price = C + (10/100)C =  1.1C

Had he purchased it for 5% Less

=> Cost Price = C - (5/100)C = 0.95C

sold it for ₹ 56 more

=> Selling Price = 1.1C + 56

he could have gained 25%

=> Selling Price = 0.95C + (25/100)0.95C  = 1.25 * 0.95C

Equating both selling Price

=> 1.25 * 0.95C = 1.1C  + 56

=> 0.0875C = 56

=> C = 640

Cost Price = Rs 640

He bought it for Rs 640

29.

Solve for x=2x/x-5+5(2x/x-5

Answer»

X= 4x^2/(x-5)^2+10x/(x-5)-24
x= 4x^2/(x-5)^2 + 10x/(x-5)-24
on TAKING LCM...
and USING IDENTITY (a-b)^2= a^2+b^2-2ab
= 4x^2+10x(x-5)-24(x-5)^2
= 4x^2+10x^2-50x-24(x^2+25-10x)
= 4x^2+10x^2-50x-24x^2-600+240x
= (4+10-24)x^2+(-50+240)x-600
= -10x^2+(190)x-600
10x^2-190x+600=0
taking out 10 common
we get,
10(x^2-19x+60)=0
x^2-15x-4x+60=0
x(x-15)-4(x-15)=0
therefore
(x-4)(x-15)=0
the value of x is 4 and 15
hope this helps you.....
