Meena wants to deposit silver on iron spoon. She took Silver Nitrate in a solution and set up a circuit for electroplating .Which terminal the spoon should be connected to ?What material she should take for the other electrode ? |
Answer» The process that Meena wants to setup is Electro plating . So needs to follow the following precautions if silver is to be deposited on iron SPOON: 1. The metal object on which electroplating is to be done should be CONNECTED at cathode [ negative electrode] ---- so spoon at cathode 2. The metal whose LAYER is to be deposited should be connected to positive terminal [ anode] --- so silver metal electrode at anode. 3.A water soluble salt of metal to be deposited is TAKEN at ELECTROLYTE ----so silver nitrate solution is taken as electrolyte. |

How to calculate solute free gas flow rate from given flow rate? |
Answer» to generate two gas flows with different FLOW RATES from compressed nitrogen by CONTROLLING nitrogen flow's pressure. For one flow, I can measure the flow rate, but another one has much higher flow rate which is out of range of flow meter. Is there anyway that I calculate the SECOND flow's flow rate from pressure? The pressure of two flows are separately controlled. |

What mass of Oxygen (O2) gas will react with 24 g of magnesium(Mg) to produce magnesium oxide(MgO)? |
Answer» Formula MASS of magnesium oxide is 40 (24 + 16). This 24 is the mass of magnesium and 16 is the mass of OXYGEN. So MgO is just the sum of mass of magnesium and oxygen. |

How many enantiomer pairs are obtained by monochlorination of 2, 3-dimethylbutane? |
Answer» Enantiomers are CHIRAL MOLECULES that are mirror images of one another. Furthermore, the molecules are non-superimposable on one another. This MEANS that the molecules cannot be placed on TOP of one another and givethe same molecule. Chiral molecules with one or more STEREOCENTERS can beenantiomers. |

Show with an example the difference between empirical &molecular formula. How are the two related ? |
Answer» MOLECULAR formula says how many atoms of each element are in a compound. While empirical formula are the simplest or most reduced ratio of ELEMENTS in a compound. The empirical formula contains the SMALLEST possible WHOLE no. s that describe the atomic ratio. Molecular formula is the actual formula of a compound. For example: Molecular formula for GLUCOSE is C6H12O6. Here the actual no. of atoms of each elements are written. While the empirical formula would be (C6H12O6)/2 which gives C3H6O3 which on further simplification gives CH2O. Molecular formula is based off empirical formula. Its calculated through this method: - ((molecular mass of compound/ empirical mass of compound)) *empirical formula. So, going back to our glucose example, if the empirical formula is CH2O.. and the molecular mass of glucose is 6 times that of methanal, then we can multiply the no. of each atom in methanal to get glucose. I Hope This Helped Uh... ☺❤✌ |
