the dipole moment of HBr is 2.60×1030 Cm the interatomic distanve is 141pm what is the percentage ionic chatacter of HBr

Answer»

dipole moment =charge X DISTANCE between them

=1.6 x 10^-19 x 141 x 10^-12 Cm

=225.6 x 10^-31 Cm

=22.56 x 10^-30 Cm

now,

% of IONIC characters

=dipole moment by experimental x 100/dipole moment by THEORETICAL

=(2.6 x 10^-30/22.56 x 10^-30 ) x 100

=260/22.56 %

=11.52 %

How to predict bond order from force constant values

Answer»

A relation of the formk = aN(xAxB/d2)¾+bhas been found to hold accurately for a large number of diatomic and simple polyatomic molecules in their ground states. (The average deviation of k calculated from k observed for seventy‐one cases is 1.84 percent.) Here k is the bond‐stretching force constant, d the bond length, N the bond order, and xA and xB are the electronegativities of the bonded atoms. If k is MEASURED in dynes/cm×10−5 and d in Angstrom units, a and b have the VALUES 1.67 and 0.30, respectively, for stable molecules exhibiting their normal covalencies, except those in which both bonded atoms have only one electron in the valence shell; for diatomic molecules of the alkali METALS, NA2, NaK, etc., a and b are 1.180 and −0.013, respectively; for hydrides of elements having a single electron in the valence shell, 1.180 and 0.040, respectively; and for diatomic hydrides of elements having two to four electrons in the valence shell, 1.42 and 0.08, respectively. Numerous applications of the relation are made and CERTAIN exceptions are pointed out.

4.

Which type of principals are involved in extraction of the element?

Answer»

Types of Metallurgical Processes

1 Pyrometallurgy EXTRACTION of metals takes PLACE at very HIGH temperature. Cu, Fe, Zn, SN, etc .. are extracted by this METHOD.
2 Bydrometallurgical process In this method, metals are extracted by the use of their aqueous solution. Ag and Au are extracted by this method.
3 Electrometallurgical process Na, K, Li, Ca, etc., are extracted from their molten salt solution through electrolytic method.

6.

What is rearrangement reaction?

Answer»

A rearrangement reaction is a broad class of organic reactions where the CARBON skeleton of a molecule is rearranged to give a STRUCTURAL ISOMER of the original molecule. Often a SUBSTITUENT moves from ONE atom to another atom in the same molecule.

7.

A solution of glucose in water is labelled by10% by mass. what is the morality and molality of the solution

Answer»

ANSWER:

Explanation:

Molarity=No of moles/Volume of SOLUTION in litre

10% means 10G in 100g solution

So,mass of solvent=100-10=90g

No of moles=10/180=1/18

Molality=(1/18)/(90/1000)

Molarity=(1/18)/1=1/18

Hope you understood.

Define isomerism which type of somerism present in coordination compounds

Answer»

ISOMERISM the relation the relation between two CHEMICAL compounds which are formed of different atoms of the same kind with the same composition which differ only in the orientations.

Two types of isomerism found in coordination compounds are -

-Stereoisomerism - It is the isomerism in which two compounds have the same atoms which are ARRANGED in different positions.

-Structural isomerism - In this type of isomerism, in which there is an exchange of the cationic and anionic part AMONG the isomers.
Eg.
[PtBr(NH3)3]NO2
[Pt(NO2)(NH3)3]Br

12.

Explain lanthanide contraction

Answer»

The LANTHANIDE contraction is the greater-than-expected decrease in ionic radii of the elements in the lanthanide SERIES from atomic number 57, lanthanum, to 71, lutetium, which results in smaller than otherwise expected ionic radii for the subsequent elements starting with 72, HAFNIUM

13.

How would you prepair alkanes from the alkyl halide

Answer»

FROM ALKYL HALIDES (By Wurtz Reaction)
Alkyl halides are halogen DERIVATIVES of alkanes with general formula R-X. They can be used to prepare alkanes by Wurtz reaction:
It INVOLVES the CHEMICAL reaction between alkyl halides (usually BROMIDES and iodides) and metallic sodium in the presence of dry ether. The product is the symmetrical alkane containing twice the number of carbon atoms present in the alkyl halide.

15.

10g of hydrogen and 64g of oxygen were filled in a steel vessel and exploded. Volume of gaseous product after reaction is?

Answer»

Hii There!!!

Balance equation is :-
2H₂ + O₂ -------> 2H₂O

Moles in 10g of hydrogen = mass/molar mass
          = 10g / 2
          =  5 moles

64g of OXYGEN

No. of moles = given mass/molar mass

So, moles = 64/32

 = 2 moles

The mole reaction for the equation above is
H₂ : O₂  is 2 :1

THEREFORE 5 moles of H₂ will REQUIRE 2.5 moles of oxygen - this makes oxgen the limiting reagent.

We therefore use the moles of oxygen to find those of H₂O:

mole ratio  O₂ : H₂O   is 1 : 2

That means 2 moles of oxygen will PRODUCE 4 moles of H₂O

Now , If 1 mole = 22.4 liters
Then 4 moles = 22.4 × 4/1
                       = 89.6 liters

The volume of H₂O produced is 89.6 liters.

Hope it helps

16.

What is effect of heat over molality and molarity ?

Answer»

Because with INCREASE in temperature, volume of SOLUTION also increases. So with change in temperature, molarity also CHANGES. But there is no EFFECT of temperature on molality. For example, with increase in temperature, volume will increase and then molarity will decreases.

17.

What is orbital ? how many radial nodes are present in 7s orbital.?

Answer»

The probability of finding the electrons around the NUCLEUS is known as Orbital. There are 6 NODES in 7s orbital

18.

A few drops of dettol when added to water the mixture turns turbid why

Answer»

Answer: -

In Dettol, Chloroxylenol is the chief ingredient, comprising 4.8% of Dettol's total MIXTURE, with the REST made up by pine OIL, isopropanol, castor oil, soap and water.

When we add water to the dettol, micro emulsion occurs. It is a SOLUTION where small droplets of the oil gets SUSPENDED in the water. The microemulsion destabilizes releasing the pine oil and castor oil. This leads to turbidity.

Thus a few drops of dettol when added to water the mixture turns turbid

A brown coloured metal x when heated gives a black colour metal oxide y. the black colour compound y reacts with hcl to give z. find x,y,z

Answer»

The SHINY brown COLORED element x is copper. When copper metal is heated in air, it forms a black colour compound copper oxide. So,
the black COLOURED compound is copper oxide (CuO).
2Cu+O2-----heat-----2CuO
when it REACTS with HCl it gives
CuO+2HCl--------CUCL2+ H2O
therefore z is CuCl2
