6.

Difference between galvanic cell and concentration cell

Answer»

Here is in your answer____

Galvanic cell converts chemical energy into ELECTRICAL energy. Both the ELECTRODES are placed in a same container in the solution of molten electrolyte. Here the anode is negative and CATHODE is the positive electrode. The reaction at the anode is oxidation and that at the cathode is reduction.

Galvanic cells are batteries. The redox reaction in the battery always has a positive voltage due to DIFFERENT chemical species.

Concentration cells are batteries and discussed these after we covered the Nernst Equation. The redox reaction always has a positive voltage due to the same chemical species having different concentrations.

45.

a mixture of 2 gases contains gas A with mol mass 40 and B with 80 and have vapour density 25.the mole% of B is

Answer»

The % of B is 25%.

It is now known that the relation between the vapour density and the molecular mass of a compound or mixture is given as FOLLOWS:

M = 2 X VD

So, molecular mass of the mixture is 50 units.

Now, assuming that the % of B is x %, we can take % of A to be (100-x) %.

Substituting the equation of the mass relation with the assumed mass percentages, we FIND that the percentage of B COMES out to be 25%.

46.

For strong electrolytes lamda m=

Answer»

Molar CONDUCTIVITY of strong acids or electrolytes is not a FIXED constant or quantity. Rather, it depends on several FACTORS including the electrolytic concentration and SPECIFIC conductance of the electrolyte in question.

The RELATION between the following quantities can be expressed as follows:

Molar conductivity = (specific conductance) / (concentration)

As we can see, it is not a fixed constant quantity and can vary over a wide range of values.

Why does bee sting cause pain and irritation?rubbing of baking soda on sting gives relief.why?

Answer»

When bee stings a person ,it injects an acidic liquid into the SKIN which causes pain and irritation.if the bee stings a person, then RUBBING a mild base LIKE baking soda solution on the stung area of the skin GIVES relief.

This is because being a base baking soda neutralises the acidic liquid injected by bee sting and cancels its effect.
