A science teacher conducted an experiment by heating a test-tube, the level of water decrease. The information from this experiment

Answer»

ong>Answer:

WATER has a very LARGE heat capacity, so it takes a lot of energy to change the temperature. Warmer water will be less dense and move upward to the top of the test TUBE to BOIL while the colder water can stay at the bottom. Water does not conduct heat through it very MUCH and ice conducts the heat through much less.

How much resistance will a 6 ohm resistor contain?

Answer»

ong>Answer:

First make a parallel combination of two 6 ohm RESISTORS. The effective resistance of this combination BECOMES 3 ohm. ( 1/R1 = 1/R2 + 1/R3) Make the same parallel combination for the other two remaining resistors. Join these two combinations in series with EACHOTHER. The effective resistance now becomes 6 ohm. (R1 = R2 + R3)

Give the construction and working of solar cooker

Answer»

A device that utilises solar energy for cooking purposes is called a solar cooker. The most commonly used form of solar cooker is known as box-type solar cooker. A box-type solar cooker is SHOWN in the figure.

Construction of a box-type solar cooker: A box-type solar cooker consists of the following components:

Box (B): This is an insulated metal or a WOODEN box. It is painted black from inside because black surface absorbs more heat. The box may be provided with four roll-wheels.Glass cover (G): A cover made of two sheets of toughened glass held together in an aluminium frame is used as a cover of the box B.Plane mirror reflector ®: A plane mirror reflector fixed in a frame is fixed to the box B with the help of hinges. The mirror reflector can be positioned at any DESIRED angle to the box. The mirror is positioned so as to allow the reflected sunlight FALL on the glass cover of the box.Cooking containers ©: A set of containers made of aluminium and blackened from outside are kept in the box B. These containers are also painted black because black surface absorbs more heat.

Working: The food is cooked in a shallow vessel of the container. The box has a transparent covering of glass sheet over it. The solar cooker is placed in sunlight and reflector (plane mirror) is adjusted in such a way that a strong beam of sunlight enters the box through the glass sheet. The blackened metal surfaces in the wooden box ABSORB infra-red radiations from the beam of sunlight and heat produced raises the temperature of blackened metal surface to about 100°C.
The food absorbs heat from the black surface and gets cooked. The thick glass sheet does not allow the heat produced to escape and thus, helps in raising the temperature in the box to a sufficiently high degree to cook the food.

How does the heat of the sun reach the earth?What happens to the heat which falling an object?

Answer»

Answer:

The sun HEATS the earth through radiation. Since there is no medium in the atmosphere , radiation is the primary way that heat travels in space. The received heat warms the MOLECULES of the AIR , and thus , heats the atmosphere.

When heat falls on a object , the object absorbs heat and radiate photons.

a drop of olive oil of radius 0.30 millimetres into a nearly circular film of radius 12 CM on the water surface estimate the molecular size of olive oil

Answer»

Solution:-

gievn by ,
Radius of the drop = 0.30mm
= 0.30 X 10^-3 m

Volume of the OIL drop = (4/3)×(pi)×(0.30x 10^-3)^3 ..............(1)

The circular film is cylinderical with radius 0.12m (given) and thickness 't' m(SAY).

Volume of the film = (pi) × (0.12)^2 × t .......(2)

at EQUAT to equetion》

(4/3)×(pi)×(0.30x 10^-3)^3 =(pi) × (0.12)^2 × t

t = ((4/3)×(pi)×(0.30x 10^-3)^3)/(pi) × (0.12)^2

t =( 4/3)×(0.30x 10^-3)^3/144×10^4

t = (36×10^-6)/144×10^4

t = 0.25×10^-10

NOTE: We have found only the thickness of the film and not the size of the oil molecule.

Study the adjoining circuit and find the reading of ammeter

Answer»

Hey!!!

__________

We have

R1 = 4 ohm
R2 = 2 ohm
R3 = 2 ohm
V = 10V

Let R be the EQUIVALENT RESISTANCE of the circuit

Here R2 and R3 are in parallel

=> 1/Rp = 1/R2 + 1/R3

=> 1/Rp = 1/2 + 1/2

=> Rp = 1 ohm

Thus R = R1 + Rp

=> R = 1 + 4

=> R = 5 ohm

Again By Ohm's Law

=> V = I x R

Thus I = V/R

=> I = 10/5

=> I = 2A

Thus the AMMETER reading will be 2A

____________

Note : Ammeter is connected in series not in parallel

Hope this helps ✌️

Calculate the number of electrons constituting one coulomb of charge

Answer»

We know that the CHARGE of 1 electron = 1.6 x 10POWER minus19 coulomb
thus, 1.6 x 10power minus 19C of charge=1 electron.
therefore 1C= 1/1.6 x 10 power minus 19 electrons
                    = 10 power19/1.6 electrons
                    = 10 x 10power 18/1.6 electrons
                    =6.25 x 10 power18 electrons
