SECHION-D16. An elevator descends into a mine shaft at the rate of 6 m/min. Ifthe descend starts from 10 m above the ground level, how longwill it take to reach the shaft 350 m below the ground level?

Answer»

Considering the elevator to be at constant speed and the destination to be 350 m below ground level,

The elevator has to travel 10m till the ground, then 350 m more.

So, the total distance to travel is 360 m

If the elevator's speed is 6 metres/minute,Then

Time= Distance/Speed = 360/6 =60 minutes =1 hour

Thus the elevator would take 1 hour to reach its destination.

The descend starts from 10 m above ground level and the elevator has to travel 350 m, so total distance that is travelled by the elevator= (350+10)m =360m.Now, speed =6m/minSo, time required= distance/speed=(360/6) mins=60 mins= 1hr

. The measure of an exterior angle of a regular polygon is 2t, and the measure of an interior angle is 4the relationship between interior and exterior angles to find the measure of one interior and exterioraangleis 4. Usengleh The other two angles are equal. Find

Answer»

I assume you mean the EXTERIOR ANGLE is 4x.

Draw a polygon, any number of sides.

NOW, extend one side, on the angle of interest

Note how when you extend that side, you get a straight line.

O.K., now how many degrees are there in a straight line???

Label the interior angle 2x, and the exterior angle 4x.

Together, they add up to 6x, and must equal the number of degrees in a straight line.

SO: 2x + 4x = 180

23.

Find the measure of each exterior angle andeach interior angle of a regular hexagon

Answer»

Regular hexagons interior angle sum using the formula (n-2) × 180 = (6-2)×180 = 4 × 180° = 720°

every interior angle then would be 720/6 = 120°

Now exterior angles are always 360°so all angles = 360/6 = 60°

Answer»
26.

29. The exterior angle of regular polygon is onethird of its interior angle, how many sides hasthe polygon.

Answer»

Let number of sides in polygon be n

Interior angle = (n - 2)/n*180Exterior angle = 180 - interior angle

As per given conditionExterior angle = 1/3 interior angle180 - interior angle = 1/3 interior angle4/3 interior angle = 180Interior angle = 135

Hence,(n - 2)/n * 180 = 135180n - 360 = 135n45n = 360n = 360/45 = 8

Therefore, Number of sides are 8

3. Find the cube root of 4741632 by estimation.

Answer»

Since this number has 6 digits after doing that means this number is more than 100 bcoz cube of 100 contains6 zeros.secondly last digit is 2 that mean we have a no. whose cube contains 2 at last digit as our last digit of cube root. and that no is 8.now cube of 150 is 3375000 and thus our ans will be more than 150.so calculate cube of 158 first and we don't get 4741632 and then calculate cube of 168 and we get ans 4741632.Thus answer is 168.

32.

Question numbers 7 to 12 carry 2 marks each.7. Can two numbers have 15 as their HCF and 175 as their LCM ? Give reasons.

Answer»

For two or more numbers,LCM = Product of highest power of each factor involved in the numbers.

HCF = Product of smallest power of each common factor.

∴We can conclude that LCM is always a multiple of HCF, i.e.,

LCM = k × HCF

We are given that

LCM = 175

HCF = 15

But in this case, LCM ≠ k × HCF.

Therefore, two numbers can't have LCM as 175 and HCF as 15.

.Amaninvests800inbuying R 5 shares andwhen they are selling at a premium of 1.15.he sells all the shares. Find his profit andprofit percent.

Answer»

Investment or Total Cost Price : Rs. 800Cost Price of one share (CP) : Rs. 5Selling price of one share(SP) : CP+Premium = 5 + 1.5 = Rs. 6.15

No. of shares = Investment/Cost price of one share = 800/5 = 160

Total Selling Price = 160* 6.15 = Rs.984

Profit = Total CP - Total SP = Rs. 984 - Rs. 800 = Rs 184

Profit% = (Profit/CP*100) = (184/800)*100 = 23%

∴ Profit = Rs 184 and Profit% = 23%
