12. Find the approximate value of 8.95

Answer»

Let f(x) = sqrt(x)f'(x) = d/dx [ sqrt(x) ] = d/dx [x^(1/2) ] = (1/2) x^(-1/2) = 1 / 2 x^(1/2) = 1 / 2sqrt(x)

Let x=9sqrt(9)=3

sqrt(8.95)= f(8.95)= f(9) + (8.95-9) f'(9)= 3 + (-0.05) [1 / 2 sqrt(9)]= 3 - 0.05 / 6= 2.991667

A child is looking for his father. He went90 metres in the east before turning to hisright. He went 20 metres before turning tohis right again to look for his father at hisuncle's place 30 metres from this point.His father was not there. From therehe went 100 metres to his north beforemeeting his father in a street. Now howfar he is from his starting point?.4.

Answer»

From the diagram,

AB = 90-30 = 60 and BD = 100-20 = 80

AD = √AB²-BD² = √(60²-80²)

= √10000

= 100 m

Hit like if you find it useful!

6.Mohit was looking for his father. He went 90 metres in theEast before turning to his right. He went 20 metres beforeturning to his right, again to look for his father at his uncle'splace 30 metres from this point. His father was not there.From there he went 100 metres to the North before meetinghis father in a street. How far did the son meet his fatherfrom the starting point?

Answer»

Also DE = 100 metre, DF = BC = 20 metreSo, EF = DE - DF = 80 metre

as we can see in image that triangle AFE is a right angled triangle and we are having two sides, need to calculate third one, so we can apply Pythagoras theorem here

A = AE = \sqrt{AF^2 + EF^2} \\= \sqrt{(60)^2+(80)^2} \\= \sqrt{3600+6400} \\= \sqrt{10000} = 100

So from starting point his father was 100 metre away.

26.

The perimeter of a triangle is 60 cm. Its hypotenuse is 26 cm, find the otherand the area of the triangle.

Answer»

Let a,b, c are the sides of a triangle .

Given thathypotenuse(c) = 26 cm.

a + b + c = 60 cm.

∴ a + b = 60 - c = 60 - 26 =

∴ a + b = 34 --------(1)

In a right angled triangle c2= a^2+ b^2

a^2+ b^2= 262= 676 ---------(2)

Now a^2+ ( 34 - a)^2= 676. [ from (1)]

⇒ a^²+ a^2- 68a + 1156 = 676

⇒ 2a^2- 34a + 480 = 0

⇒ a2- 17a + 240 = 0

⇒ a^2- 10a - 24a + 240 = 0

⇒ a(a - 10) - 24(a - 10) = 0

∴ a = 10 , 24

but b = 34 - a then b = 24 , 10

∴ sides of triangle are 10 , 24.

Answer»

Use:(a+b)^3=a^3+b^3+3(a)(b)(a+b)(a-b)^3=a^3-b^3-3(a)(b)(a-b)

(98)^3=(100-2)^3=100^3 - 2^3 - 3(100)(2)(100-2)=1000000-8-58800=941192
