7. A man spents 75% of hisincome. His income increasedby 20% and he increased hisexpenditure by 64% , His sav-ings will then be increased by3

Answer»

Let his income is x

Then his spending is 75% of x i.e. 0.75x and saving is 0.25x .

Now his income is increased by 20% then his new income will be x+(.2x)=1.2x.

His spending is increased by 6 2/3 % then his new spending will be (.75x)*20/300 + (.75x)=(.8x)

New saving =new income - new spending =1.2x - 0.8x=0.4x

So increase in savings= new savings-old saving=0.4x-0.25x= 0.15x

% increase in saving =( 0.15x/.25x )*100 %=60.0%
