ORm, a conmical cavity of tcavityFromheight andthe nearest cm.a solid cylinder whose height is 2.4 cm and diameter 1.4 cm, a conicalsame diameter is hollowed out. Find the total surface area of the reIni/4s105°. Now, construct a trianat

Answer»

The outer surface area of the cylinder = 2πrh

= 2 x 3.14 x 0.7 x 2.4

= 10.55 cm²

slant height of the cone, L = √(h² + r²)

=√(2.4² + 0.7²)

= √6.25

= 2.5 cm

hence outer surface area of the cone = πrL

= 3.14 x 0.7 x 2.5

= 5.5 cm²

This outer surface area of the cone is equal to the inner surface area of the hollow portion of the cylinder left.

surface area of the cylindrical base = πr²

= 3.14 x 0.7²

= 1.54 cm²

Hence total surface area of the remaining solid = The outer surface area of the cylinder + inner surface area of the hollow portion of the cylinder left + surface area of the cylindrical base

= 10.55 + 5.5 + 1.54

= 17.59 cm²

= 18 cm² (rounded off to nearest cm²)

Hence the total surface area of the remaining solid will be 18 cm²

Answer»

Let the required number bex.−30−30-1÷x= 6-1⇒1/(−30)×1/x=1/6

1/(-30)×1/x=1/6

⇒1/(−30x)=1/6 1(-30x)=1/6∴x=6/(−30)=1/−5Hence, the required number is−1/5

Answer»

Five rational numbers between 3/5 and 4/5

In order to find five rational numbers Multiply and divide each of these by 6. Then we get numbers3/5 = 3*6/5*6 = 18/304/5 = 4*6/5*6 = 24/30

Now five rational numbers between 18/30 and 24/30 are19/30, 20/30, 21/30, 22/30, 23/30

If the ath term of an A. P. be 1/b and bth term be l/a then show that its (ab)th term 1s 1.

Answer»

Given that, mth term=1/n and nth term=1/m.then ,let a and d be the first term and the common difference of the A.P.so a+(m-1)d=1/n...........(1) and a+(n-1)d=1/m...........(2).subtracting equation (1) by (2) we get,md-d-nd+d=1/n-1/m=>d(m-n)=m-n/mn=>d=1/mn. again if we put this value in equation (1) or (2) we get, a=1/mn.then, let A be the mnth term of the APa+(mn-1)d=1/mn+1+(-1/mn)=1 hence proved.

25.

find the 2 nop in A.P whose sum and produeI are band 6 respectively

Answer»

Let the three numbers be

a-d,a,a+d

Sum of numbers=6

a-d+a+a+d=6

a+a+a=6

3a=6

a=2

Product of numbers=6

a-d×a×a+d=6

a-d×a+d×a=6

[a-b×a+b=a^2-b^2]

a^2-d^2×a=6

Substitute the value of a

2^2-d^2×2=6

4-d^2=6/2

4-d^2=3

-d^2=3-4

-d^2=-1

d^2=1

d=root over 1

d=+ or - 1

Therefore A.P will be

a=2 d=1

2,3,4,5,6...........

Or

a=2 d=-1

2,1,0,-1,-2..........

If asin θ + bcos θ = c, then prove that acos 0-bsin θ = Va 2 + b 2-c2

Answer»

Acosx - bsinx = c ------(1) take square both sides a²cos²x + b²sin²x -2absinx.cosx = c² ----(1)

asinx + bcosx = L --------(2) take square both sides a²sin²x + b²cos²x +2absinx.cosx = L² ----(2)

add equations (1)and (2) a²(sin²x + cos²x ) + b²( sin²x + cos²x ) = c² + L²

a² + b² = c² + L²

L² = a² + b² -c²

L = ±√( a² + b² - c²)

Kumar buys a Maruti car for 2,40,000 at a down payment of R 1,20,000 and the rest inannual instalments of 10,000 plus 12% interest on the unpaid amount. Eventually whatwill the car cost him?

Answer»

Given that the kumarpays Rs 120000 in cash.Therefore, unpaid amount = Rs 240000 – Rs 120000 = Rs 120000According to the given condition, the interest paid annually is12% of 120000, 12% of 110000, 12% of 100000, …, 12% of 10000Thus, total interest to be paid = 12% of 120000 + 12% of 110000 + 12% of 100000 + … + 12% of 10000= 12% of (120000 + 110000 + 100000 + … + 10000)= 12% of (10000 + 20000+ 30000 + … + 120000)Now, the series 10000, 20000, 30000 … 120000 is an A.P. with both the first term and common difference equal to 10000.Let the number of terms of the A.P. ben.∴ 120000 = 10000+ (n– 1) 10000⇒ 1 + (n– 1) = 12⇒n= 12∴Sum of the A.P

=12[2(10000)+(12-1)(10000)]/2= 6[20000+110000]= 6(130000)= 780000Thus, total interest to be paid = 12% of (10000 + 20000 + 30000 + … + 120000)= 12% of 780000= Rs 93600Thus, cost of car= (Rs 240000 + Rs 93600) = Rs 333600

The sum of the digits of a two-digit number is 12. The numberobtained by interchanging its digits exceeds the given number by 18.(CBSE 2006]

Answer»

Let the tens digit is x and unit digit is y

The number is 10 x + y

10 x + y +18 = 10 y + x

9 x - 9 y = -18

x - y = -2 ………(1)

x + y = 12….(2)

2 x = 10 Therefore x =5

From equation 2, 5 + y - 12 Therefore y = 7
