Chemical Exchange Effects in NMR Chemical exchange, in NMR terms, means that a nucleus moves among a set of magnetic environments. The sample is macroscopically at equilibrium, but an individual nucleus exchanges among a number of sites, so the magnetic properties of the nucleus are modulated by the exchange.

Briefly explain the characteristics ofchemical changes.

Answer»

Decomposition, the opposite of combination, involves the breakdown of a single substance into two or more different substances. The signs ofchemical changeincludechangesin color, temperature, the production of light, changesin odor, and the formation of gases.

A chemical change, also known as achemical reaction, is a process where one or more substances are altered into one or more new and different substances. In other words, a chemical change is a chemical reaction involving the rearrangement of atoms. While a physical change can often be reversed, a chemically change typically cannot be, except through more chemical reactions. When a chemical change occurs, there is also a change in the energy of the system. A chemical change that gives off heat is calledan exothermic reaction.

during a chemical change following changes occur : 1. change in state 2. change in colour3. change in odour / smell4. change in temperature

Physical Change or Chemical Change?

One way to think about physical changes is that they are reversible since they do not affect a substance’s chemical identity. These include changes in size, shape, texture or state. A good example of physical change is ice melting into water. This change of state is a physical change since scooping up the water and returning it to the freezer reverses it. Chemical changes, on the other hand, can’t reverse since they involve breaking bonds between molecules and forming new bonds.

Changes in Temperature

While you can heat any substance, the spontaneous release of heat after mixing compounds together is a good indicator that a chemical reaction has taken place. Reactions that release heat are also called exothermic reactions. An example of a chemical change that releases heat is the thermite reaction, which is what causes fireworks to explode.

Answer»

2082.

Answer these questions1. The 'drain of wealth theory formed one of the bases of the rise of thspirit of Indian nationalism. Do you think so? Justify your answer

Answer»

The Drain of Wealth theory was originally propounded by Dadabhai Naoroji and later it was developed and analyzed by R.P. Dutt, M.G.Ranade etc. This theory was merely a depiction as to how all the riches of India were being drained by the England. The constant flow of wealth from India to England for which India did not get any type of return is what is known as Drain of wealth theory.

All the resources that were present in India were being utilized by the Britain for their development. If the same resources would have been used in India back then, then the income of the people would have increased tremendously and thereby improving the living standards.

Factors that caused external drain are as follows;

·

Outside rule and administration in India.

·

India was paying for all the civil administration and army of England.

·

The burden of territory building both inside and outside India was also in India.

·

Major earners were foreigners only who never invested in India.

Apart from these, for various other services as well, India was paying heavily to the Britishers. Also, Indian labour was greatly undervalued at that time. It doesn’t ends here; East India Company was purchasing items from India with Indian cash and trading it to Britain.

So it can be seen how Indian economy was constantly drained out by the England people for so long.

of board of revenue,Madras best explains the drain of wealth theory

Even the worst of the foreign rulers used their revenue to build roads, irrigation facilities,in wars and in worst case scenarios on their personal luxuries. It ultimately encouraged Indian trade and created employment within India. This is because all these foreign rulers settled in India itself and made it their homes

However the British remained foreigners forever. They sent almost all their wealth gathered here through taxes, remittances etc ,back to England. The company even used this wealth to buy it’s exports from India. This deprived India even from the rightful returns that it deserved from its exports.

Thus , the wealth of our country being spent without India gaining anything out of this expenditure is popularly described as the drain of wealth
