Tropical seasonal forestsSeasonal tropical forests generally receive high total rainfall, averaging more than 1000 mm per year, but with a distinct dry season. They include: the Congolian forests, a broad belt of highland tropical moist broadleaf forest which extends across the basin of the Congo River; Central American tropical forests in Panama and Nicaragua; the seasonal forests that predominate across much the Indian subcontinent, Indochina and in northern Australia: Queensland.

Tropical dry broadleaf forestTropical dry broadleaf forests are territories with a forest cover that is not very dense and has often an unkempt, irregular appearance, especially in the dry season. This type of forests often include bamboo and teak as the dominant large tree species, such as in the Phi Pan Nam Range, part of the Central Indochina dry forests. They are affected by often very long and intense seasonal dry periods and, though less biologically diverse than rainforests, tropical dry forests are home to a wide variety of wildlife.

Tropical grasslands, savannas, and shrublandsTropical grasslands, savannas, and shrublands are spread over a large area of the tropics with a vegetation made up mainly of low shrubs and grasses, often including sclerophyll species. Some of the most representative are the Western Zambezian grasslands in Zambia and Angola, as well as the Einasleigh upland savanna in Australia. Tree species such as Acacia and baobab may be present in these ecosystems depending from the region.

The natural vegetation, generally, grows well where there is enough rainfall. It is conserved where the land is not fit for cultivation. The natural vegetation of India changes from one region to another due to the variations in the climate and soils. On the basis of climate and relief the natural vegetation of India can be divided in the following types:

1. The tropical evergreen forests,

2. The tropical deciduous forests

3. The tropical thorn forests,

4. The littoral or tidal forests, and

5. The mountain forests.

. Tropical Evergreen Forests:

These forests are found mainly in those areas where the annual rainfall is more than 200 cm, with a short dry season. The average annual temperature should range between 25 °C and 27 °C. The relative humidity should be around 70 per cent. The general climatic conditions should be hot and humid.

The trees in these regions are evergreen and do not shed their leaves. These forests are very dense and composed of tall trees reaching upto the height of about 60 metres. The trees have a multi-storeyed structure with good canopy. They look like a green carpet when viewed from above.

Due to dense growth of trees, the sunlight cannot reach the ground. Thus, the undergrowth mainly consists of canes, bamboos, ferns, climbers, etc. This makes the passage difficult through the forests. In some areas the evergreen trees are found mixed with deciduous trees. These forests are less dense and can be easily exploited.

The timber from the tropical evergreen and semi- evergreen a forest is hard, durable, fine-grained and of high economic value. The important trees of these forests are rosewood, ebony, mahogany, rubber, cinchona, bamboo, coconut, palms, canes, lianas, etc. The main species in the semi-evergreen forests are cedar, hollock, kail, etc.

Tundras are among Earth's coldest, harshest biomes. Tundra ecosystems are treeless regions found in the Arctic and on the tops of mountains, where the climate is cold and windy and rainfall is scant. Tundra lands are snow-covered for much of the year, until summer brings a burst of wildflowers.
