Explain the Second Carnatic War

Answer»

France and England were at Peace during the Second Carnatic War. In 1748, the Nizam of Hyderabad Asaf Jah I died and there was a civil war for succession broke out. This Civil war of succession is known as the Second Carnatic War.

Observing the intense rivalries and political disunity existent in India, the French Governor Joseph Francois Dupleix wanted to consolidate French power in the South.

When wars of succession broke out in Carnatic and Hyderabad in 1748, he saw it as an opportunity which was not to be missed and hence involved the French in these quarrels.

After the death of the Nawab of Hyderabad in 1748, Dupleix supported the claim of Muzaffar Jung to the throne, whereas, in Carnatic, he supported Chanda Sahib.

This stand was diametrically opposite to that of the British, as they supported Nasir Jung and Muhammad Ali in Hyderabad and Carnatic, respectively.

7255.

what were the events of second carnatic war?

Answer»

The Second Karnatic war was fought between 1749–1754. After the Treaty of Aix-la-Chapelle in 1748, the war of Austrian succession had ended. But the Brits and the French were still at loggerheads. Within a year the two were fighting it out in a proxy war in India. The French and British East India Companies were entangled in war in the Karnatic for a second time to prove supremacy. The war was fought between the British-backed Nizam of Hyderabad and the French-backed Chanda Sahib & Muzzafar Jung for the Nawabship of Arcot. Muzaffar Jung and Chanda Sahib were able to capture Arcot with French support. Meanwhile, Nasir Jung's subsequent death allowed Muzaffar Jung to take control of Hyderabad. Muzaffar's reign was short as he was soon killed, and Salabat Jung became Nawab. In 1751, Robert Clive led British troops to capture Arcot, and successfully defend it. The war ended with the Treaty of Pondicherry, signed in 1754, which recognised Muhammad Ali Khan Walajah as the Nawab of the Karnatic.

4. Explain the Second Carnatic War

Answer»

Fought between: Different claimants to the posts of the Nizam of Hyderabad, and the Nawab of the Carnatic; each claimant being supported either by the British or the French.

People involved: Muhammad Ali and Chanda Sahib (for the Nawabship of the Carnatic or Arcot); Muzaffar Jung and Nasir Jung (for the post of the Nizam of Hyderabad).

When: 1749 – 1754

Where: Carnatic (Southern India)

Result: Muzaffar Jung became Hyderabad’s Nizam. Muhammad Ali became the Nawab of the Carnatic.

Even though England and France were officially at peace with each other as there was no fighting in Europe, the political climate in Southern Indian at that time led their companies to fight in the subcontinent.

The Nizam of Hyderabad, Asaf Jah I died in 1748 starting a power struggle between his grandson (through his daughter) Muzaffar Jung, and his son Nasir Jung.

Anwaruddin Khan, the Nawab of the Carnatic supported Nasir Jung’s claim to the throne of the Nizam.

This led Muzaffar Jung to instigate war with French support against Anwaruddin, called the Battle of Ambur.

Anwaruddin Khan had died in the Battle of Ambur in 1749.

Now there was a tussle for the Nawabship of Carnatic between Muhammad Ali (son of Anwaruddin) and Chanda Sahib (son-in-law of Dost Ali Khan, a former Nawab of the Carnatic).

This led to a tripartite understanding among the various powers.

After Anwaruddin Khan’s death, his son Muhammad Ali fled to Trichy. Then, Chanda Sahib has proclaimed the Nawab of the Carnatic.

Then, French forces marched on to the Deccan and fought and killed Nasir Jung.

Subsequently, Muzaffar Jung was installed as the Nizam of Hyderabad.

However, Muzaffar Jung was killed a couple of months later and the French installed Salabat Jung (another son of Asaf Jah I) as the Nizam.

In return the French acquired from the Nizam four rich districts on the Coromandel Coast (Northern Sircars).

At this time, Trichy was under the control of Chanda Sahib and the French. But the Trichy Fort was held by Muhammad Ali.

To undermine the growing French power in the region, the English decided to support Muhammad Ali.

Robert Clive (later Governor of Bengal) attacked Arcot, the capital of the Carnatic, as a divisionary tactic. This is called the Siege of Arcot, in which the British won.

After this many battles were fought and Chanda Sahib was killed in one of them.

Thus, Muhammad Ali was installed as the Nawab of the Carnatic.

The war ended with the Treaty of Pondicherry in 1754.

Ekercise lasBrowthat is is inationalemon, to the con ball

Answer»

Let us assume that √5 as rational number

If a and b are two co prime number and b is not equal to 0.We can write √5 = a/b

Multiply by b both side we getb√5 = a

Squaring on both sides, we get5b² = a²..........(1)

Therefore, 5 divides a² and according to theorem of rational number, for any prime number p which is divides a² then it will divide a also.

That means 5 will divide a. So we can writea = 5cand put the value of a in equation (1) we get

5b² = (5c)²5b² = 25c²

Divide by 25 we getb²/5 = c²

Again using same theorem we get that b will divide by 5and we have already get that a is divide by 5but a and b are co prime number.

This is contradiction to the fact that√5 is rationalThus √5 is irrational

l hot are

Answer»

Tectonic earthquakes occur at plate tectonic boundaries. Tectonic plates are constantly moving slowly, but sometimes friction between them causes them lock together and become unable to move. The rest of the plates carry on moving, which leads to increased pressure on the locked section. Eventually, the locked section succumbs to the pressure, and the plates move past each other rapidly. This movement causes a tectonic earthquake. The waves of released energy move through the Earth's crust and cause the shaking we feel at an earthquake site.A tectonic earthquake occurs where tectonic plates meet, an area known as the boundary. When two plates push into each other, they form a convergent plate boundary.

what are tidal forests

Answer»

Tidal forests are the jungles with trees

Tidal Forest'forest subject to tidal action. In Bangladesh thesundarbansrepresents the tidal forest and constitutes the largest continuous mangrove forest in the world. The forest is located at the southern extremity of the Ganges river delta ie the plain bordering thebay of bengalto the south. This is a reserve forest and has been divided into four administrative ranges and 55 compartments. The forest is enriched with about 70 tree species, many of which are commercially important. The Sundarbans is a deltaic swamp. The land surface is flat and the elevation is hardly 3 m above mean sea level. The entire area is intersected by a complex network of streams and rivers varying considerably in width and depth. Sundri (Heritiera fomes) and Gewa (Ecoecara agallocha) are the dominant tree species. The height of the forest varies from 5 m to 20 m. As regards density, about 50% of the area have more then 70% canopy closure.

The grounds are flooded every time at tide with seawater. The evergreen plants have pneumatophores; germination is viviparous. Other than sundari, passur, gewa, keora, kankra, baen, dhundul, amur, and dakur grow gregariously. Turbidity and salinity of water regulate the constituent feature of the species.

A number of rivers namely Passur, Sipash, Arpangasia, Malaencha, and to a slight extent Jumuna and Raimangal have indirect connection, and they receive the overflow of the Ganges during rains.

They also receive a considerable amount of local drainage throughout their long and meandering courses during the monsoon. Now, only the Baleswar has direct connection and is responsible for fresh water supply to the eastern part of the forest. The soil is finely textured and the sub-soil is stratified, which at greater depth is compact. Tides in the Sundarbans are semi-diurnal with a small diurnal irregularity. Annual rainfall is in the range of 1640-2000 mm. On an average, 80% of the total annual rain is received from May to September. [Neaz Ahmad Siddiqui]
