Device for Exploring Eddy Currents and Magnetic Damping: A common physics demonstration device for exploring eddy currents and magnetic damping. (a) The motion of a metal pendulum bob swinging between the poles of a MAGNET is quickly damped by the action of eddy currents. (b) There is little EFFECT on the motion of a slotted metal bob, implying that eddy currents are made less effective. (c) There is also no magnetic damping on a nonconducting bob, since the eddy currents are extremely small.

shows what happens to the metal plate as it enters and leaves the magnetic field. In both cases, it experiences a force opposing its motion. As it enters from the left, flux increases, and so an eddy CURRENT is set up (Faraday’s law) in the counterclockwise direction (Lenz’ law), as shown. Only the right-hand side of the current loop is in the field, so that there is an unopposed force on it to the left (right hand rule). When the metal plate is completely inside the field, there is no eddy current if the field is uniform, since the flux remains constant in this region. But when the plate leaves the field on the right, flux decreases, CAUSING an eddy current in the clockwise direction that, again, experiences a force to the left, further slowing the motion. A similar analysis of what happens when the plate swings from the right toward t

State principle road blanked?

Answer»

Explanation:

Banking of road is the process of raising outer edges of a road over its inner edge through certain angle.

Necessity of banking of road-

When a vehicle moves on a CURVED horizontal surface, friction force between wheels and road provides the NECESSARY centripetal force. But friction force is enough sometimes like during rain as road is OILY. Road should be made through then but it cause wear & tear of tyres. When centripetal force is less the vehicle skid. To eliminator this difficulty, ROADS are banked. When road is banked, the horizontal component of normal reaction provides necessary centripetal force required for circular motion.

So, roads are banked to provide necessary

Why are liquids less denser than solids??let me see if so.some answer longest answer will be marked brainiest

Answer»

Explanation:

Water’s States: Gas, Liquid, and Solid

The formation of hydrogen bonds is an important quality of liquid water that is crucial to life as we know it. As water molecules make hydrogen bonds with each other, water TAKES on some UNIQUE chemical characteristics compared to other liquids, and since living things have a high water content, UNDERSTANDING these chemical features is key to understanding life. In liquid water, hydrogen bonds are constantly FORMED and broken as the water molecules slide past each other. The breaking of these bonds is caused by the motion (kinetic energy) of the water molecules due to the heat contained in the system. When the heat is raised as water is boiled, the higher kinetic energy of the water molecules causes the hydrogen bonds to break completely and allows water molecules to escape into the air as gas (steam or water vapor). On the other hand, when the temperature of water is reduced and water freezes, the water molecules form a crystalline structure maintained by hydrogen bonding (there is not enough energy to break the hydrogen bonds). This makes ice less dense than liquid water, a phenomenon not seen in the solidification of other liquids.

hope it helps you

A body dropped from the top of tower takes 4 sec to hit the ground.How much time does it takes to cover second half tower (g =10 m/s^2)

Answer»

ANSWER :

Time taken by body to hot the ground = 4s

We have to find time taken by body to cover second half of the tower.

★ First of all we need to find HEIGHT of the tower.

For a body falling freely under the action of gravity, g is taken positive.

For FREE falling motion, u = zero

H = ut + 1/2 gt²

➝ H = 0 + 1/2 (10)(4)²

➝ H = 1/2 (160)

H = 80 m

Now let's find time taken by body to cover first half of the tower.

Height of first half will be 40m.

➝ H/2 = ut₁ + 1/2 gt₁²

40 = 0 + 1/2 (10)(t₁)²

➝ 40 = 5t₁²

➝ t₁² = 8

t₁ = 2.82 m

Time taken by body to cover second half :

➝ t = t₁ + t₂

➝ 4 = 2.82 + t₂

t₂ = 1.18 s

∴ Body will take 1.18s to cover second half of the tower.

body rises vertically upto a height of 125 m in 5 s & then comes back to the same point. Find the (i) total distance travelled, (ii) average speed, (iii) displacement and (iv) average velocity of the body.

Answer»

Answer :

Maximum height attained = 125m

Time to reach there = 5S

Body comes back to the same point.

We have to find

  • Total distance travelled
  • Average speed
  • DISPLACEMENT
  • Average velocity

1) Distance is DEFINED as the total length of actual path which is covered by moving object. It is a scalar quantity.

Here body rises to the height of 125m then comes back to the initial position.

Therefore distance covered by body will be two times of 125m.

➝ d = 125 × 2

d = 250 m

2) Average speed is defined as the ratio of total distance travelled to the total time taken.

Here body takes 5s to reach at the maximum height. We know that time of ascent is always equal to the time of descent.

Therefore total time of flight will be 10s.

➝ Vav = d/t

➝ Vav = 250/10

Vav = 25 m/s

3) Displacement is defined as the SHORTEST distance between initial and final position of the entire journey.

ATQ, body comes back to the initial position therefore displacement will be zero.

4) Average velocity is defined as the ratio of displacement to the total time.

Displacement of the body is zero therefore average velocity will also be zero.
