if a train runs at 40 kmph it reaches its destination late by 11 minutes.but if it runs at 50 kmph it is late by 5 minutes only.find the distance to be covered by the train

Answer»

Let the correct tym of arrival be t
given train moves with 40kmph
let the distance covered is x km
tym taken is x/40
this tym is 11 MINUTES late then the correct one so t = x/40+11 .......(1)
similarly ANOTHER eq is t = x/50 +5 ......(2)
EQUATING (1) &(2)
x/40 +11 = x/50+5
x/50 -x/40 =6
40x-50x/200 = 6
-10x/200 =6
x is -120 km
but since distance cant be -ve
distance covered is 120 km

Use the heron formulae to find the area of the triangle whose sides are 13 cm,14 cm and 15 cm.

Answer»

A = 13 cm

b = 14 cm

c = 15 cm

S = ( 13 + 14 + 15) /2

=> S = 42 / 2

=> S = 21

Area = SQRT [ s(s-a) (s-b) (s-c)]

= sqrt [ 21 (21-13) (21-14)(21-15)]

= sqrt ( 21 × 8 × 7 × 6)

= sqrt ( 3 × 7 × 2 × 2 × 2 × 7 × 2 × 3)

= 3 × 7 × 2 × 2

= 84 cm^2

A dealer sold two t shirt for Rs24000 each,gaining 20% one and losing 20% on the other. Find his net gain or loss percentage.

Answer»

A dealer sold two t SHIRT for RS24000 each

so, TOTAL selling price be 24000 + 24000 = 48000

gaining 20% one t shirt
so profit = 24000 + 20% of 24000 = 24000+ 0.2×24000 = 24000 + 4800 = 28800

losing 20% on the other
so loss = 24000 - 20% of 24000 = 24000 - 4800 = 19200

so total TRANSACTION = 28800+19200 = 48000

so there is no profit or loss

k = 12 cannot be possible because x² and x coefficient will become 0

so, k = 14

6)51 = x + y
x*y = 378

378 = 2×3×3×3×7 = (2×3×7)×(3×3) = 42×9

y = 9

x + y = 42 + 9 = 51

Answer»

45.

Prove that tan(x+y)=tanx+tany/1-tanxtany

Answer»

Hello!!!

Hey my dear friend here is your answer_____________

tan x+y = (tan x + tan y) / (1 - tan x tan y)

We already KNOW (SEE trigonometry IDENTITIES) that

COS (x+y) = cos x cos y - SIN x sin y

and

sin (x+y) = sin x cos y + cos x sin y

So,

tan (x + y) = (sin x+y) / (cos x+y)

= (sin x cos y + cos x sin y) / (cos x cos y - sin x sin y)

Dividing both numerator and denominator by (cos x)(cos y), we get:

= ( sin x / cos x + sin y / cos y) / (1 - sin x sin y/(cos x cos y))

= (tan x + tan y) / (1 - tan x tan y).

Hence, the prof.

3 years ago sanjus age was double of sheejas.7 years hence the sum of their age will be 86 years.the age of sanju today?

Answer»

Let sanjus age be X and sheejas be y YEARS
then 3years ago sanjus age will be x-3 and sheejas will be y-3
then A/C to Que
x-3=(y-3)2
x-2y=-6+3
x-2y=-3 ........(1)

7 years hence
sanju will be x+7
sheeja will be y+7
A/C to Que
x+7+y+7=86
x+y+14=86
x+ y= 86-14
x+ y = 72..........(2)
subtracting eqn (2) by (1) we get
x-2y=-3
x+y=27
- - -
=-3y=-75
3y=75
y=25
putting value of y eqn (2) we get
x+25= 72
x=47
