How to factorise 24x^2+9x+5

Answer»

Equation at the END of step  1  :

((23•3x2) + 9X) + 5

Step  2  :

Trying to factor by SPLITTING the middle term

 2.1     Factoring  24x2+9x+5

The first term is,  24x2  its coefficient is  24 .
The middle term is,  +9x  its coefficient is  9 .
The LAST term, "the constant", is  +5

Step-1 : Multiply the coefficient of the first term by the constant   24 • 5 = 120

Step-2 : Find two factors of  120  whose sum equals the coefficient of the middle term, which is   9 .

     -120   +   -1   =   -121     -60   +   -2   =   -62     -40   +   -3   =   -43     -30   +   -4   =   -34     -24   +   -5   =   -29     -20   +   -6   =   -26

For tidiness, printing of 26 lines which failed to find two such factors, was suppressed

Observation : No two such factors can be found !!
Conclusion : Trinomial can not be factored

Final result :

24x2 + 9x + 5

the area of a square is 84 m square less than the area of rectangle whose measurement 16 1615m x 40 M find the side of a square

Answer»

Let L be the length of the SQUARE
From the equation, it is seen that area of the rectangle - 84 = L²
Coresspondinglly,
1615*40-84=L²
64600-84
64516=L²
Hence L = square root of 64516= 254
Thus the length of the square is 254 METERS

The radius of the base and the hight of right circular cone are 7 cm and 24 cm respectively. Find the volume and total surface area of the cone

Answer»

Volume of cone = πr^2h/3
3.14×7×7×24/3
1,230.88 cm^3
TOTAL SURFACE AREA of cone =πr(r+l)
FIRST find slant HIGHT

PQRS is a parallelogram. T is the point of intersection of its diagonals.Write the answers of questions given below.(i) If l(PS) = 5.4 cm, then l(QR) = ?(ii) If l(TS) = 3.5 cm, then l(QS) = ?(iii) If m∠QRS = 118°, find m∠QPS.(iv) If m∠SRP = 72°, find m∠RPQ.

Answer»

If PQRS is a parallelogram , then
LENGTH of PQ = length of RS
length of PS = length of QR

(i) Given, length of PS = 5.4 cm
definitely , length of QR = 5.4 cm

(ii) if diagonals of PQRS parallelogram bisect each other at T
so, length of ST = length of TQ = length of QS/2
length of PT = length of TR = length of PR/2
here, Given , length of TS = 3.5 cm
so, length of QS = 2 × length of TS = 7cm

(iii)if PQRS is parallelogram then,
∠QRS = ∠QPS
and ∠PSR = ∠PQR
here, given, ∠QRS = 118°
so, ∠QPS = 118°

(iv) if PQRS is parallelogram ,
then, PQ || RS and PS || QR
so, ∠SRP = ∠RPQ
HENCE, ∠RPQ = ∠SRP = 72°

Find the smallest number which when divided by 18,12,24 leaves remainder of 16,10 and 24 respectively

Answer»

If a NUMBER 'a' and a number 'b' are DIVISIBLE by a number 'n' then, a+b and a-b is ALSO divisible by n

=> let the number be n which divides 62, 132 and 237 leaving a REMINDER r

=> the required number then becomes H.C.F of 62-r, 132-r and 237-r

=> it could also be the H.C.F of
(132-r)-(62-r) and (237-r)-(132-r)

i.e. 70 and 105

=> H.C.F of 70 and 105 = 35

the required number n is 35.
