-The watch is sold at 3250 at two successive discount. Ifthe first discount is 16.66% then find the second discount .if theMP is 40% more than s.p ?

Answer»

Answer:

LET marked price be rs. X

S.P. = rs. 3250

M.P. is 40% more than S.P.

M.P. = S.P.+40% of S.P.= 3250+1300=4550

FIRST discount = 16.66%

Net price after first discount= 4550-16.66% of 4550= 4550- 758.03= rs. 3791.97

second discount= 3791.97- 3250= rs. 541.97

rate of discount= 541.97/ 3791.97 x100= 14.29%

There were n boys and m girls in a class. They wanted to sit in a row for an activity. In how many ways can they sit on 30 chairs?

To find the number of ways , we need the total number of students.

If N is total number of students, Number of ways will be

I. n+3m = 20

Value of (n, m) can be (2,6) or (5,5) or (8,4)

So N = n+m= 8 or 10 or 12.

NOT SUFFICIENT.

II. 2n + 2m = 22

N= n+m = 11

SUFFICIENT.

22.

If y (3x - y) : x (4x + y) = 5 : 12, find (x2 + y2) : (x + y)2. Answer in proper explanation and i will mark you as the brainiest.....

Answer»

Answer:

25/49

Step-by-step explanation:

Given

If y(3x-y):x(4x+y)= 5:12, then find the RATIO (x^2+y^2):(x+y)^2

So we need to find the ratio. So product of means is equal to product of extremes.

So 12 y(3 x – y) = 5 x(4 x + y)

36xy – 12y^2 = 20x^2 + 5xy

36xy – 5xy = 20x^2 + 12 y^2

31xy = 20x^2 + 12y^2

20x^2 – 31xy + 12 y^2 = 0

20x^2 – 16 XY – 15 xy + 12y^2 = 0

4x(5x – 4y) – 3y(5x – 4y) = 0

5x – 4y = 0        4x – 3y = 0

5x = 4y                 4x = 3y

x = 4y / 5               x = 3y / 4

Now we need to find

x ^2 + y^2 / (x + y)^2

Substituting for x we get

x = 4 y/5

16 y^2 / 25 + y^2 / (9 y / 5)^2

41 y^2 / 25 / 81 y^2 / 25

= 41 / 81

When x =3 y/4 we get

9 y^2 / 16 + y^2 / (7y / 4)^2

= 25 y^2 / 16 / 49 y^2 / 16

= 25 / 49

find the roots of the following quadratic equation if they exist by the method of quadratic formula that is first 2 x square - 7 x + 3 equal zero

Answer»

Answer:x=+3 and +½

Step-by-step explanation:

2x²-7x+3=0

Using the quadratic formula,

x=-b±√(b²-4ac)/2a

a=2, b=-7, c=3

x=-(-7)±√((-7)²-4(2)(3))/2(2)

x=7±√(49-24)/4

x=7±√25 /4

x=(7±5)/4

x=2/4 or 12/4

Therefore, x=½ or 3
