Describe how the new political system of constitutional monarchy work practise in France

Answer»

The National Assembly completed the draft of the constitution in 1791. Its main object was to limit the powers of the monarch. These powers instead of being concentrated in the hands of one person, were now separated and assigned to different institutions – the legislature, executive and judiciary. This made France a constitutional monarchy. Fig. 7 explains how the new political system worked. The Constitution of 1791 vested the power to make laws in the National Assembly, which was INDIRECTLY elected. That is, citizens voted for a group of electors, who in turn chose the Assembly. Not all citizens, however, had the right to vote. Only MEN above 25 years of age who paid taxes equal to at least 3 days of a labourer’s wage were given the status of ACTIVE citizens, that is, they were entitled to vote. The remaining men and all women were classed as passive citizens. To QUALIFY as an elector and then as a member of the Assembly, a man had to belong to the highest bracket of taxpayers. The Constitution began with a Declaration of the Rights of Man and Citizen. Rights such as the right to LIFE, freedom of speech, freedom of opinion, equality before law, were established as ‘natural and inalienable’ rights, that is, they belonged to each human being by birth and could not be taken away. It was the duty of the state to protect each citizen’s natural rights.

Why Britain government implement corn law

Answer»

The Corn Laws were tariffs and other trade restrictions on imported food and grain ("corn") enforced in GreatBritain between 1815 and 1846. They were designed to keep grain prices high to favour domestic producers, and represented British mercantilism, since they were the only mercantilistlaws of the country.
The Corn Laws were a series of statutes enacted between 1815 and 1846 which kept corn prices at a high LEVEL. This measure was intended to protect English farmers from cheap foreign imports of grain following the end of the Napoleonic Wars.

During the Napoleonic Wars, the British blockaded the European continent, hoping to isolate the Napoleonic Empire and bring economic hardship to the French. One result of this blockade was that goods within the British Isles were protected against competition from outside sources. Farming became extremely lucrative, and farming land was traded at very profitable rates.

When the wars ended in 1815 the first of the Corn Laws was introduced. This law stated that no foreign corn would be allowed into Britain until domestic corn REACHED a price of 80 shillings per quarter.

Who Benefited? The beneficiaries of the Corn Laws were the nobility and other large landholders who owned the majority of profitable farmland. Landowners had a vested interest in seeing the Corn Laws remain in force. And since the right to vote was not universal, but rather depended on land ownership, voting members of Parliament had no interest in repealing the Corn Laws.

Who suffered? The artificially high corn prices encouraged by the Corn Laws meant that the urban working class had to spend the bulk of their income on corn just to survive. Since they had no income left over for other purchases, they could not afford manufactured goods. So manufacturers suffered, and had to lay off workers. These workers had difficulty finding employment, so the economic spiral worsened for everyone involved.

Reform. The first major reform of the Corn Laws took place during the ministry of the Duke of Wellington in 1828. The price of corn was no longer fixed, but tied to a sliding scale that allowed foreign grain to be imported freely when domestic grain sold at 73 shillings per quarter or above, and at increasing tariffs the further the domestic price dropped below 73 shillings. The effect of this reform was negligible.

The Reform Act. In 1832 the right to vote was extended to a sizable portion of the merchant class through the passage of The Reform Act. The merchant classes were far more likely to look favorably on changes to the Corn Laws.

The Reformers. Several groups arose during the early and mid 1800s to fight for repeal of the Corn Laws amid other social reforms. Most prominent among these movements were the Chartists and the Anti-Corn Law League. The ACLL began in 1836 as the Anti Corn Law Association, and in 1839 adopted its more familiar NAME. Despite its social reform agenda, the league drew its members largely from the middle-class; merchants and manufacturers. Their aim was to loosen the restrictions on trade generally, so that they could sell more goods both at home and around the WORLD. After constant agitation, the ACLL was successful, and in 1846 the government under Sir Robert Peel was PERSUADED to repeal the Corn Laws.

Answer»

A hunter-gatherer is a human living in a society in which most or all food is obtained by foraging (collecting wild plants and PURSUING wild animals), in contrast to agricultural societies, which rely mainly on domesticated species.

Hunting and gathering was humanity's first and most successful adaptation, occupying at least 90 percent of human history. Following the invention of agriculture, hunter-gatherers who did not change have been displaced or conquered by farming or PASTORALIST groups in most parts of the world.

Hey there!

The PHILOSOPHY of life or WORLD - view DEPICTED in the Mahabharata is a practical and realistic one. It is based on a spirit of intellectual inquiry and tries to come to grips with the essence of human life.

40.

Analyse the advantages and problems faced by the people due to multi party system in India.

Answer»

There is both a huge advantage and a huge DISADVANTAGE.

The advantage is that there is naturally more of a choice. Which means that voters would have to go with “the lesser of two evils” MUCH less often.

The disadvantage with having more than two viable parties is that it then becomes much harder for one party to GET an outright majority on a first ballot of anything.

In Parliamentary countries, this means having to settle for coalition governments that tend to fall apart after a few months or even after a few weeks.

The the US, having several viable parties would MEAN that even with the electoral college, everyone might fail to get a winner of the majority of electors, which in turn would mean that presidential elections would be decided in the House of Representatives… assuming the House could reach a decision and not get deadlocked as it was in 1800. But in any case, that’s a really stupid way to elect a president.

Hope it's help you

Project leaders of weapons of the first world war

Answer»

The opening months of the First World War caused profound shock due to the huge casualties caused by modern weapons. Losses on all fronts for the year 1914 topped five million, with a million men killed.

This was a scale of violence unknown in any previous war. The cause was to be found in the lethal combination of mass armies and modern weaponry. Chief among that latter was quick-firing artillery. This used recuperating mechanisms to absorb recoil and return the barrel to firing position after each shot. With no need to re-aim the gun between shots, the rate of fire was greatly increased.

Shells were also more effective than ever before. New propellants increased their range, and they were filled with recently developed high explosive, or with multiple shrapnel balls - deadly to troops in the open. Small arms had undergone a similar revolution in efficiency, with the development of high-velocity cartridges filled with smokeless propellant.

The deadly effectiveness of these weapons was not fully realised until the armies CLASHED. Their efficiency was heightened by the tactics employed. It was thought that, unless soldiers advanced in relatively close order, it WOULD be impossible to command them or MAINTAIN their attacking spirit, especially as the Continental armies featured LARGE numbers of reservists, mobilised only at the outbreak of war.

The terrible casualties sustained in open warfare meant that, within four months, soldiers on all fronts had begun to PROTECT themselves by digging trenches.
