Triangular slave trade french revolution ? what steps various steps taken by frech govt after 1789 abolishtion of slavery

Answer»

One of the most revolutionary social reforms of the Jacobin regime was the abolition of slavery in the French colonies. The colonies in the Caribbean – Martinique, Guadeloupe and SAN Domingo – were important suppliers of commodities such as tobacco, indigo, sugar and coffee. But the reluctance of Europeans to go and work in distant and unfamiliar lands meant a shortage of labour on the plantations. So this was met by a triangular slave trade between Europe, Africa and the Americas. The slave trade began in the seventeenth century. French merchants sailed from the ports of Bordeaux or Nantes to the African coast, where they bought SLAVES from local chieftains. Branded and shackled, the slaves were packed tightly into ships for the three-month long voyage across the Atlantic to the Caribbean. There they were sold to plantation owners. The exploitation of slave labour made it possible to meet the growing demand in European markets for sugar, coffee, and indigo. Port cities like Bordeaux and Nantes owed their economic prosperity to the flourishing slave trade. Throughout the eighteenth century there was little criticism of slavery in France. The National Assembly held long debates about whether the rights of man should be EXTENDED to all French SUBJECTS including those in the colonies. But it did not pass any laws, fearing opposition from businessmen whose incomes depended on the slave trade. It was finally the Convention which in 1794 legislated to free all slaves in the French overseas possessions. This, however, turned out to be a short-term measure: ten years later, Napoleon reintroduced slavery. Plantation owners understood their freedom as including the RIGHT to enslave African Negroes in pursuit of their economic interests. Slavery was finally abolished in French colonies in 1848.

In which inscription king ashoka accepted buddhism?

Answer»

Ashoka invaded Kalinga in 261 B.C. In Kalinga War, 100,000 people died, 150,000 were wounded and made PRISONERS of war.

The sight of such a carnage and massacre of human lives, and the sufferings of the wounded made a DEEP impression on Ashoka's mind. The unhappiness of the women and the children made him very sad and unhappy. He vowed never to make a war again. He decided to devote his LIFE to the spread of DHARMA. Dharmavijaya, and not Digvijaya (victory in all DIRECTIONS), became the goal of Ashoka's life. He was the first emperor in the history of the world to give up war after victory. Tell me some mistry in the world ?

Answer»

Time doesn’t ALWAYS shed light on unexplained mysteries, though.

Consider the 5-tonne statues that dot remote Easter Island in the middle of the Pacific Ocean, or 5,000-year-old coins that have been found buried in the United States

Throughout history, we’ve never ceased to be ENAMOURED with tales of buried treasure, secret inscriptions, and BOOBY traps. But one of the most enduring treasure mysteries of all time comes from a tiny island off the coast of Nova Scotia in eastern Canada.

Oak Island is the home of what is informally known as the “MONEY Pit,” an incredibly deep hole of incredibly elaborate construction discovered in 1795.

Over two centuries of EXCAVATION have unearthed no treasure thus far, but what has been discovered is arguably just as fascinating. Underneath the surface of the pit are a series of wooden platforms, and even deeper, flooding mechanisms formed from multiple underground canals leading to water.

Before I answer this question,i would like to tell what is inscription. Inscriptions are historical writings typically carved on hard surfaces (eg.Rocks, stones etc.)

Inscriptions are very important for historians and archaelogists as :-

They contain writings of important events that took place.

They also contain the thoughts and VIEWS of kings.(Eg. ASHOKAN Inscriptions)

They sometimes also contain the ORDERS of the king.

A very unique inscription in Indian History is Ashokan Inscriptions or the EDICTS of Ashoka.Edicts of Ashoka are a series of 33 inscriptions on pillars , caves, walls etc. found throughout the Indian Subcontinent and a little beyond it.They contain not only Ashoka’s story about how bloodshed effected and moved him,but also his views and thoughts on Buddhism. The simple rules of Buddhism were also carved on the pillars for the common people to read.Edicts of Ashoka have been phenominal for the historians to find out more about the Mauryan period.

Highlight the main feature of trade treaty of vienna

Answer»

The Congress of Vienna (German: Wiener Kongress) ALSO called Vienna Congress, was a meeting of ambassadors of European states chaired by Austrian statesman Klemens von Metternich, and held in Vienna from November 1814 to June 1815, though the delegates had arrived and were ALREADY negotiating by late September 1814. The OBJECTIVE of the Congress was to provide a long-term peace plan for Europe by settling critical issues arising from the French Revolutionary Wars and the Napoleonic Wars. The goal was not simply to restore old boundaries but to resize the main powers so they could balance each other and remain at peace. The leaders were conservatives with little USE for republicanism or revolution, both of which threatened to upset the status quo in Europe. France lost all its recent conquests while Prussia, Austria and Russia made major territorial gains. Prussia added smaller German states in the west, Swedish Pomerania and 60% of the Kingdom of Saxony; Austria gained Venice and much of northern Italy. Russia gained parts of Poland. The new Kingdom of the Netherlands had been created just months before, and INCLUDED formerly Austrian territory that in 1830 became Belgium.

Why was weilmar republic failed

Answer»

Hi friend here is your answer

After the World War one ended the Germany was defeated they returned to their country with heavy losses, a 6.6 billion pound reparation cost and a feeling of being let down. the country suffered huge economic losses and the country feel into poverty and starvation. Any government ruling a country like this already would have a very hard time keeping alive. At this point the emergency Weimar Republic constitution was adopted by three parties, the social DEMOCRATIC Party, in early 1919 they won 76 percent of vote and BEGAN to govern Germany. The Weimar Republic was modelled AROUND the Imperial constitution and was written in Weimar. People had to blame someone and they BLAMED the republic for everything, for LOOSING war, to the situation they were in now. one of the main reason the Weimar Republic fell from power was the treaty of Versailles, the german people thought all the bad things that had happened to them and their country were a result of it. In addition to this there were parties from left and right challenging them. A bi product of the treaty of Versailles was the huge economic lose in their country; this gave the German people more reasons to blame and loathe the Weimar Republic. the third and final reason was hitler's raise to power, he offered the countries people freedom from the Weimar rule and they gradually accepted it.

I hope this will help you
