5.

Cause of the revolt1). explain the military cause ?????

Answer»

Indian SOLDIERS also suffered the consequences of the oppressive British rule. Besides, they had other grievances. The Indian sepoys were looked upon as inferior beings and treated with contempt by their British officers.
They were paid much less than the British soldiers. All avenues of the promotion were closed to them as all the higher army posts were reserved for the British.

There were other specific and more immediate causes for the discontent among the sepoys. The annexation of Awadh inflamed their strong feelings against foreign rule.
They were also influenced by the general fear that their RELIGION was in danger.
The order that forbade the sepoys from wearing caste and sectarian marks hurt their sentiments deeply. So also the Act of 1816 which required the new recruits to TRAVEL overseas, if needed.
The Hindu sepoys resented this as according to the popular Hindu belief, travel across the sea led to a loss of caste. ANOTHER cause of sepoy discontent was the withdrawal of the Foreign Service ALLOWANCE (‘batta’), which the sepoys were getting for fighting outside the country.

27.

What are the success of jago grahak jago programme

Answer»

Awareness of the program is an issue as higher awareness could have made it much more successful. According to a study of consumer rights in India, just 42 per CENT have heard about consumer rights and almost 50 per cent of consumers are not EVEN aware about government's 'Jago Grahak Jago' campaign.

But still there SEEMS to be better awareness than earlier, CONSIDERING that five years ago only 18 per cent were aware about the Act. I think the Government should take up educating the masses on ways to implement this programme and also harp on its various benefits. People should be made to FEEL confident in the consumer redressal mechanisms.

How did the british try to restrict the game of cricket to themselves only ? Answer in short

Answer»

1) The pre-industrial oddness of cricket made it a hard game to export. It TOOK root only in countries that the British conquered and ruled.

2) In these colonies, cricket was established as a popular sport either by white settlers (as in South Africa, Zimbabwe, Australia, New Zealand, the WEST Indies and Kenya) or by local elites who wanted to copy the habits of their colonial masters, as in India.

3) Success at cricket became a measure of racial equality and political progress.

4) Many of the political leaders saw in the game a chance for self- RESPECT and international standing, which was identified by only the colonies and not the entire WORLD.

Relevance of cycle menu in food serbice unit

Answer»

A CYCLE menu is a series of menus that is planned for a SPECIFIC period of time, for instance 2 weeks. The menu, during the 2 weeks, is different each day during the cycle. At the end of the cycle, the menus are repeated, following the same order as DONE during the earlier two weeks. This is what is called a cycle menu because of the cyclical pattern it follows.

A cycle menu is GENERALLY used in school settings and can help students, teachers and administrators know what type of food will be served on each day of the school year. This type of menu is easy to plan and is constantly repeated over a period of time. Many schools choose to use a cycle menu that has a variety of different foods available to students throughout the a period of 3 weeks.

School administrators, state officials and nutrition experts work together to develop these types of menus. The menus allow schools to know exactly how much meals will cost throughout the year. They take the most popular options for nutrition and flavor and develop them into patterns that will be easy to understand. Cycle menus are able to change from semester to semester and year to year, but many schools will stick with one menu once they have found the options and choices on the cycle menu that work BEST for the school.

Sankalan samaj mein Shiksha ki kya Bhumika Hai Charcha kijiye

Answer»

What do you mean by satyagraha?name the three places in india where mahatma gandhi started the movement for satyagraha?

Answer»

The idea of satyagraha emphasised the power of truth and the need to search for truth. It suggested that if the cause was true, if the struggle was against injustice, then physical force was not necessary to fight the OPPRESSOR. Without seeking vengeance or being aggressive, a satyagrahi could win the battle through nonviolence. This could be done by appealing to the conscience of the oppressor.

After arriving in India, MAHATMA Gandhi successfully organised satyagraha movements in various places. In 1916 he travelled to Champaran in Bihar to inspire the peasants to struggle against the oppressive plantation system. Then in 1917, he organised a satyagraha to support the peasants of the Kheda district of GUJARAT. Affected by crop failure and a plague epidemic, the peasants of Kheda could not pay the revenue, and were DEMANDING that revenue collection be relaxed. In 1918, Mahatma Gandhi went to Ahmedabad to ORGANISE a satyagraha movement amongst cotton mill workers.

47.

What were the problems with indian soldier in british period?

Answer»

The Doctrine of Lapse (The Doctrine meant that when a ruler of a dependent state died without a natural heir, the State passed back to the English). This ofcourse caused discontentment among the rulers and also the PEOPLE.

Unpopular Administration: the British officials were not easy to approach. The British officials had no knowledge of the manners, customs and habits of the people. The Indians were being excluded from all high offices in the army as well as Administration. Lastly the British officials had great contempt for the Indians.

They interfered with the Religion and Customs of the people (though some LAWS passed by them were for the betterment of Indians). There was also fear regarding mass CONVERSION to Christianity (the 'Bible' was introduced not only in Christian INSTITUTIONS but also in government schools and prison.

The ruin of trade and handicrafts: Indian textiles became so popular in England that pepper, Indigo, spices and other goods were relegated to a secondary position. The British rulers deliberately crippled Indian arts and crafts. Heavy duties on Indian silk and cotton textiles in Britain- 70 and 80 percent respectively (can you beat that)- destroyed industries.

India reduced to an Agricultural Colony of the British: manufacturers in England required raw materials such as cotton and oilseeds. They did all they could to keep India mainly an Agricultural Colony. The peasants were forced to cultivate Indigo and nothing else in the fields chosen by the English planters. Their crops were destroyed, their houses burnt by the planters and their cattle carried off as plunder.

Indignities hurled at Indians: The Englishmen in India could insult, humiliate, and even kill the Indians at will. An English Magistrate at Agra had issued the FOLLOWING notification:'Every native, whatever his pretended rank may be, ought to be compelled to Salaam (salute) all English gentlemen in the streets.”

Big famines: The big famines of 1837–38 made people wander in search of food. The government could have helped the natives but it seemed that it had no will to act.
