When a copper wire is left in silver nitrate solution, it is observed that the solution turns bluish greena) explain the observation b) write the balanced chemical equation to represent the change taking place Please do answer this

Answer»

HEY MATE HERE IS YOUR ANSWER

A. COPPER IS MORE REACTIVE THAN SILVER. HENCE WHEN COPPER WIRE IS DIPPED IN SILVER NITRATE ( AgNO3 ) SOLUTION FORMING COPPER NITRATE WHICH IS BLUISH GREEN IN COLOUR.

B. CU(S) + 2 AgNO3 (aq)....>Cu ( NO3 ) 2 (aq) + 2Ag (s)

Argon, oxygen and nitrogen are obtained from air by fractional distillation. Liquid air, at -250oC, is warmed up, and the gases are collected one by one .(a) Is liquid air a mixture or pure substances? (b) Explain why fractional distillation is used rather than simple distillation? (c) During the distillation, nitrogen gas is obtained first, then argon followed by oxygen. What can you say about the boiling point of these gases? Please answer fast i need it urgent.....Please answer all the 3 parts given above......Thank you

Answer»

(a) Air is a mixture and not a pure substance as it contains many gases which can be separated by PHYSICAL methods and it also shows the PROPERTIES of its constituents.

(b) Simple distillation is USED to separate components when the difference in temperature of their (constituents') boiling points is more than 25℃. Fractional distillation is used when the difference in temperature of their (constituents') is less than 25℃. As air contains various gases and the difference in temperature of their boiling points is less than 25℃, fractional distillation is used here.

(c) During the distillation, nitrogen gas is obtained first, then argon followed by oxygen, this is because in distillation process the gas which has lowest boiling temperature evaporates, condenses and GETS collected in the beaker first. Nitrogen has the LOWER boiling point as compared to argon and oxygen that is why it is obtained first, then followed by the other two.

21.

With the help of an example explain the process of hydrogenation. Mention the essential conditions for the reaction and state the essential change in physical and chemical property with the formation of the product

Answer»

The addition of hydrogen to an unsaturated hydrocarbon to get a saturated hydrocarbon is called HYDROGENATION.
Example: Vegetable oils such as groundnut oils, COTTON seed oils and, mustard oils are unsaturated and also contain double bonds (C=C). They are in the liquid state. On hydrogenation (addition of hydrogen) in the presence of nickel as catalyst vegetable oil produces vanaspati ghee. This is solid at room temperature.

The essential condition for the reaction is the presence of nickel as a catalyst and temperature.
Change observed in the physical property during hydrogenation is the change of the unsaturated compound from the liquid state to the corresponding saturated compound in the solid state/its bolling on melting POINT will increase.

23.

Name a gas and a liquid that is an oxidising agent as well as reducing agent.

Answer»

Heyya here is ur answer... Some elements and compounds can be both reducing or oxidizing agents. Hydrogen gas is a reducing AGENT when it reacts with non-metals and an oxidizing agent when it reacts with metals. Hydrogen acts as an oxidizing agent because it accepts an ELECTRON donation from LITHIUM, which causes Li to be oxidized. hope U have liked it.. then plz give it a big heart and MARK as brainlist

24.

Why the rate of reaction does not remain constant throughout the chemical reaction?

Answer» RATE of REACTION depends on the CONCENTRATION per unit time.as the reaction PROCEEDS concentration of the reactant decreases and concentration of the product increases with the time.therefore rate of reaction does not REMAIN constant throughout the chemical reaction

35.

Boiling point of hydrogen chloride is lower than that of hydrogen fluoride why

Answer»

Fluorine has the highest electronegativity of any atom. That means it LIKES to pull electrons toward it. When fluorine bonds with hydrogen, the polarity is so strong that it begins to exhibit the property of hydrogen bonding, which is in essence just an extreme dipole. Chlorine simply doesn’t have the pull of its halogen COUNTERPART and can’t form that POLAR of a molecule.

In APPLICATION, hydrogen fluoride will pull together due to hydrogen bonding, and more energy is required to separate the molecules to transition them from a liquid to a gas. The ABSENCE of the hydrogen bonding in hydrogen chloride means that it’s easier to pull the molecules apart.
