5.

How can you identify whether the plant is c3 or c4 ? explain/justify

Answer»

⊕In C3 PLANTS, the bundle sheath cells do not contain chloroplasts. In C4 plants, the bundle sheath cells contain chloroplasts. In C3 plants, the carbon dioxide fixation takes place only at one place. In C4 plants, the carbon dioxide fixation takes PLACES twice (one in mesophyll cells, second in bundle sheath cells). If one want to IDENTIFY these plants morphologically, then the most important POINT is the climate or area as C4 plants are grown in hot, dry climates whereas C3 plants are found in cool and wet areas. Rather than morphologically their main characterisation is due to their anatomy i.e. KRANZ anatomy which is observed in C4 plants.

6.

11.

What would have happed if c-4 plants did not have kranz anatomy

Answer»

natomy in c-4 plantsExplanation:Its photosynthetic response to varying CO2 and O2 is typical of C4 plants having KRANZ anatomy. Lack of night-time CO2 fixation indicates it is not acquiring carbon by Crassulacean acid METABOLISM. Phosphoenolpyruvate carboxylase, a cytosolic C4 cycle enzyme, is enriched in the peripheral cytoplasm. When the CO2 level is very low, normal enzymes inside the stroma of plastid {C3 plants} (RUBISCO) start absorbing oxygen instead of CO2. (Photorespiration loss). To overcome this, sugarcane, maize (C4 plants) have 2 types of plastids.  The plastid present near epidermis only absorbs CO2 (even if it’s % very low) by converting it into 4C COMPOUNDS (Oxaloacetic acid, malic acid, etc.) and transported into cells around the vascular bundle (Bundle sheath cells =Kranz Anatomy). In these cells, a special type of plastid with only stromal elements present. Now, GOOD %of CO2 already reached these cells, so RUBISCO can do normal Calvin cycle and FORM Glucose. So, C4 plants evolve to overcome the problem related to RUBISCO and overcome photo-respiratory loss by making Kranz Anatomy.

12.

What is diffusion?explain briefly

Answer»

eral, the act of diffusing or dispersing something is TERMED as diffusion.◉In the biological context, we define diffusion as the movement of water vapor from highly CONCENTRATED regions towards less concentrated regions.◉Many day to day activities involve diffusion. Some of them are:The spreading of the ODOUR of our perfumes.Dropping of or paint into water results to the colouring of water.Balloons shrink due to the loss of air PRESENT inside which gradually comes out of the balloon and gets released into air.◉Diffusion can also be called as PROPAGATION, dissemination, scattering, dispersion etc.

Enumerate the various causes of biodiversity loss and how they impact human lives

Answer»

Habitat destruction is a major CAUSE for biodiversity loss. Habitat loss is caused by deforestation, OVERPOPULATION, pollution and GLOBAL warming. Species which are physically large and those LIVING in forests or oceans are more affected by habitat reduction.Global warming is also becoming a major cause for loss of biodiversity. We must CREATE economic policies in order to maintain the Earth’s biodiversity and take appropriate measures to protect habitats and species.Explanation:

During photosynthesis oxygen in glucose comes from

Answer»

gen in GLUCOSE do not come from water, it comes from carbon DIOXIDE. CO2 is absorbed by the LEAVES and it combines with ribulose 1,5-diphosphate to form 2 molecules of three carbon compound called phosphoglyceric ACID (PGA) during dark REACTION of photosynthesis. Then further series of reaction lead to formation of glucose.

28.

Why do subcutaneous blood vessels bulges on the side away from the heart?

Answer»

⊕The sub cutaneous receptors bulged on the SIDE away from the heart when the hand was tied. This is DUE to the flow of blood will stop when the hand is tied. At that time the blood will flow on WHOLE body except on the hand. The nerves is present in our body in which the flow of blood takes place. When we tie the hand the nerves cant able to transport the blood to the parts of the hand, but the blood comes from heart still continues. Hence the rate of blood near the hand becomes increase by the increase in PRESSURE and the blood stops at a point where we tied.Due this reason the vessels get bulge.

29.

Why do herbivores animals have eyes set on either sides of their head?

30.

Why does singnal goes from axon through synapse to dendrite to next neuron but not reverse?

Answer»

Hi there!!!Explanation:There are main reasons to my POINT of view:1. Axon is one in number as COMPARED to the dendrites which are numerous in number. This chemical diffuses towards the DENDRITE end of next neuron where it generates an electrical signal. They RECEIVE the signals from the axon and carry them further to other neurons. In this way, it is ensured that nerve impulses TRAVEL in only one direction .Hence, the flow of signals in a synapse happens from axonal end of one neuron to dendritic end of another neuron but not in the reverse direction.

32.

Which technique is used to separate different pigments from an extract of flower petals?

Answer»

Explanation: Different pigments from the extracts of flower PETALS – chromatography. Chromatography is a TECHNIQUE of separation of substances which are very CLOSE in their molecular WEIGHT but differ in their molecular sizes. Since pigments from flower petals will be very similar in their components, it is EXPECTED that their molecular weights will also be similar. But they have different molecular sizes as an inherent property. Thus chromatography will be able to separate these pigments.

44.

What is term for the junction of one neuron and the other neuron known as? What does the end of first neuron contain?

Answer»

junction of one neuron (NERVE cell) and the other neuron is called ‘synapse’.2) The END of first neuron (pre-synaptic) contains neurotransmitters. It is very important in neuronal function, as it transmits the signals from one neuron or to another. The neuron which from which the signals pass is called pre-synaptic neuron and the one which receives them is post-synaptic neuron. The axonic end of the the pre-synaptic neuron is bulged and is called ‘synaptic knob’. The gap between the pre and the post-synaptic membranes is the 'synaptic cleft'. The end of pre-synaptic neuron contains neurotransmitters, the chemical messengers of the body. They are carried in synaptic vehicles to transmit the signals across. Note that, synapses are also present between from neurons and muscle cell as well as gland cells.
