What was the contents of the will of Alfred Nobel? |
|
Answer» ong>Answer: On November 27, 1895, in Paris, Alfred Bernhard Nobel signed his will. After his death in December 1896, many people tensely awaited the publication of the contents of the will, since it was widely known that Nobel had left one of the world's largest private fortunes. To the great disappointment of some of his relatives and friends, he declared the following last will:
Short version "The whole of my remaining realisable estate shall be disposed of in the following way: the capital, invested in safe securities by my executors, shall constitute a fund, the interest on which shall be annually awarded as prizes to those who, during the preceding year, shall have conferred the GREATEST benefit on mankind. The interest shall be divided into five equal parts, to be apportioned as follows: one part to the person who shall have made the most important discovery or invention in the field of physics; one part to the person who shall have made the most important chemical discovery or invention; one part to the person who shall have made the most important discovery within the domain of physiology or medicine; one part to the person who in the field of literature shall have produced the most outstanding work of an idealistic tendency; and one part to the person who shall have done the most or the best work for fraternity between nations and the abolition or reduction of standing armies and the formation and spreading of peace congresses. The prizes for physics and chemistry shall be awarded by the Swedish Academy of Sciences; for physiological or medical WORKS by the Caroline Institute in Stockholm; for literature by the Academy in Stockholm, and for advocates of peace by a committee of five persons to be selected by the Norwegian Storting. It is my express wish that in the awarding of the prizes no consideration shall be given to national affiliations of any kind, so that the most worthy shall receive the prize, whether he be Scandinavian or not." (emphasis added) Click to read the testament in full text.
Contested will Some of the relatives sought to have the will declared invalid, and to begin with they had the support of King Oscar II, who held that family claims could not be set aside on the grounds of the aging Alfred Nobel's fanciful ideas. There were moreover many among Sweden's conservatives who hoped to see the realisation of the will prevented because it was "unpatriotic" - the prizes ought to have been reserved for Swedes.
Approved will Following long and difficult negotiations, in which the Swedish Government was also involved, the executors Ragnar Sohlman and Rudolf Lilljequist finally succeeded in untangling the legal knots. On June 29, 1900, King Oscar II approved the statutes of the newly established Nobel Foundation. This meant that Alfred Nobel's GRAND vision could finally come to fruition. On December 10, 1901, the first Nobel Prizes were awarded in Stockholm and Oslo. Hope that it helps.... Please MARK me as the brainliest!!

Write a letter to your friend him or her telling about the merits and demerits of online classes. |
|
Answer» n Apartments Angus Grove Doncaster
SEPTEMBER 21st, 2020
Dear Rhea,
Hey! How have you been? Thanks a lot for the last letter you sent! I had a blast reading it. It was pretty interesting to know how you've been coping with online lectures and quarantine all this while, and how different both of us were accomodating ourselves to it. Though the shift from live classes to online classes was immediate and unexpected, it was pretty refreshing to go from traditional classes to online classes. It was relieving to know that I didn't have to board the school bus and nearly spend two hours on the journey to school and back home. It's just very convenient and flexible to learn and carry out activities at the comfort of your own house. These classes provide all of us an opportunity to make discussions student-centred and INTERACTIVE, which is something not all of us could accomplish offline. It's also pretty easy to obtain study materials and RESOURCES online and refer to them instantly without having to skim through pages and books just to understand one line. It's also pretty cool to submit work through Google classrooms and get rewarded points for it and get feedback from classmates. But at the same time, it does get hard to pay ATTENTION during class with all the distractions around. I could easily browse something on another tab and the instructor would have no idea. Besides that, operating classes online becomes a tedious job when one's facing connectivity issues and problems with the DEVICE used. Moreover, prolonged uses of devices during online classes, combined with the time we usually spend online can be severely damaging to our physical and mental well-being. I heard from your sister that you were facing some issues with your vision due to your increased screen-time, hope you're doing alright now! That's all I had to say, hope that your parents and your sister are in the best of their spirits, sending good vibes your way! Yours lovingly, Jane. |

The grandfather - carved out the beads - himself and gave - them to his wife - as a wedding gift. His wife - wore it for - many years - and left it to - her granddaughter, Jeannie, before she died. 2) What was special about Jeannie’s necklace of amber beads? Short speech on online classes |
|
Answer» ong>Answer: Please mark me as the brainliest Explanation: There are two types of classes - TRADITIONAL face-to-face class and online class. If we compare both, the traditional classes are better than online classes in many ways. First, in the traditional classes, personal attention can be GIVEN to a particular student whereas it is not possible in online classes because the learner has to learn by himself/herself. Learning in a class with the same age group is a fun and interesting thing for the students. It is also helpful in memorizing which is possible only in a traditional class. Whereas there are no such types of interactive groups in online classes. This can lead to monotonousness. In online classes, computer or mobile may affect our EYESIGHT but there is no such harm in traditional classes. In traditional classes, moral values are taught whereas in online classes, the importance is given only to curriculum. In traditional class, every doubt of a CHILD can be cleared whereas it is not possible in online classes. Traditional classes can clear the concept of a child in a manner which he/she understands but for online classes, the CONTENT is fixed and cannot be changed according to the learners’ ability. |
