The sides of a triangle are in the form of consecutive even integers. If its perimeter is 48cm, fmeasure of each side

Answer»

Given :

The sides of a triangle are in the form of consecutive even integer.

Let the sides be x, x + 1, x + 2.

Perimeter of the triangle = 48 cm

To Find : The measure of each sides.

Solution :

Perimeter of a triangle = Sum of all the sides

48 = x + x + 1 + x + 2

3x + 3 = 48

3x = 48 - 3

3x = 45

x = 15

Sides of the triangle are 15, 16 and 17.

6.

2If 1, is the mid- point of the line segment joining the points (2, 0) and 0, athen show that the line 5x+ 3y+ 2-0 passes through the point (-1, 3p).3

Answer»

let ( x1 , y1 ) = A( 2 , 0 ) ,

( x2 , y2 ) = B ( 0 , 2/9 ) ;

mid point of joining of A and B = ( x1+ x2 /2 , y1 + y2 /2 )

( 1 , p/ 3 ) = ( 0 + 2 /2 , 0 + 2/9 / 2 )

= ( 1 , 1/9 )

p/3 = 1/9

[∵ If ( a , b ) = ( c , d ) then a = c and b = d ]

p = 1/3 --- ( 1 )

according to the problem given ,

put ( -1 , 3p ) in the equation 5x + 3y + 2 =0

5 ( -1 ) + 3× ( 3p ) + 2 = 0

-5 + 3× 3 ( 1/3 ) + 2 =0 [ from ( 1 ) ]

-5 + 3 + 2 =0

0 = 0 [ true ]

Therefore ,

5x + 3y + 2 =0 line passes through the

point ( -1 , 3p ) .

Given series 2, 5, 8....is in AP

First term a = 2, common difference d = 5 - 2 = 3

nth term of an APan = a + (n-1)d

Therefore,Let mth term of an AP is 5353 = 2 + (m-1)*353 - 2 = 3m - 33m = 51 + 3m = 54/3 = 18

Q. 1 3/10 + 1 4/5 - 1 1/4 Ans: solving mixed fraction into fraction.. so, =10×1+3/10 + 5×1+4/5 - 4×1+1/5so, =10+3/10 + 5+4/5 - 4+1/5so, =13/10 + 9/5 -5/5so, taking the L. C. M of all the denominator of 10, 5 and 4. so, =10×5×4 = 50×4 = 200so, dividing L. C. M with denominator ==10×20+ 5×40 - 4×50equaling denominator by multiplying the no in both numerator and denominator also to get 200.. a) =13×20/10×20 =260/200b) =9×40/5×40= 360/200c) =5×50/4×50= 250/200so, now.. = 260/200+360/200-250/200= 260+360-250/200=620-250/200=370/200

so now, =370/ 20 Now cutting 0 from both numerator and denominator = 37 / 20

Suppose we represent the distance above the ground by a positive Integer anothat below the ground by a negative integer. If an elevator descends at a rate ofSm/min and begins to descend from 15 m above the ground, what will be itsposition after 45 minutes?

Answer»

Since downwards is negative, the velocity of the elevator is -5 m/min.

Displacement from initial position = Velocity x Time = -5 m/min x 45 min = -225 m.

However, since we started 15 m above ground, displacement from the ground level = -225 + 15 m = -210
