stion 2.a) Find the middle term (s) of the A. P:4, 9, 14,149.

Answer»

n th term = a+ (n-1)d149 = 4 + (n-1)5=> 145/5 = n -1=> 29 + 1 = n=> n = 30.

Middle terms are 15th term and 16th term.

15th term = a+ (n-1)d = 4+ 14(5)= 4+ 70= 74. 16th term = 15th term + d= 74+5 = 79.

ORProve that n a rishi triangle, the square on the hapomm ise gw:amoitha

Answer»

Given:triangle ABC is a right triangle right angled at B

RTP: AC^2= AB^2+AC^2

CONSTRUCTION :Draw BD_|_ AC

Proof:triangle ADB~triangle ABC

=> AD÷AB=AB÷AC

AC.AD=AB^2 ………….. (1)

Also triangle BDC~triangle ABC

CD÷BC=BC÷AC

CD.AC=BC^2 ………….. (2)

On adding (1) & (2)

AD.AC+CD.AC=AB^2+BC^2

AC (AD+CD)=AB^2+BC^2

AC.AC=AB^2+BC^2

∴AC²=AB²+BC²

12. Two similiar cones have volumes 121 cu. units and 961 cu. units. Ifthe curved surface area of the smaller cone is 1571 sq. units, what isthe curved surface area of the larger one?

Answer»

1245224112344411123433221

Since the cones are similar so l₁/l₂ = r₁/r₂the the volumes are v₁12π unit³ , v₂ = 96π unit³so curved surface area = 15π unit²

so v₂/v₁ = 96π/12π (πr₁²l₁)/(πr₂²l₂)= 8 cancelling 3

⇒(r₂²l₂)/(r₁²l₁)= 8

⇒ r₂³/r₁³ = 8 usingl₁/l₂ = r₁/r₂

⇒r₂/r₁ = 2

so curved surface area of the unknown cone be x

so cs₂/cs₁ = x/15π

⇒πr₂l₂/πr₁l₁ =x/15π

⇒ r₂/r₁ x l₂/l₁ =x/15π

⇒ r₂²/r₁² = x/15π usingr₂³/r₁³ = 8

⇒ 4 = x/15π

⇒ x = 60πANSWER

60π is correct answer

State Bernoulli's theorem. Explain the lift of an airfoil using the theorem.

Answer»

TheBernoulli equation statesthat an increaseinvelocity leads to an decreaseinpressure. Thus the higher the velocity of the flow, the lower the pressure

An airfoil is referred to any device that reacts to air moving over its surface. A wing is an example of such a device.

In its simplest form, Bernoulli equation states that at a point where the speed of a fluid ( liquid or gas) decreases, the pressure of the fluid at that point increases.

Probably on of the most famous applications of this equation applies to describing and formulating the the lifting of an airplane wing.

A wing is designed and shaped in a way that the speed of air flowing over its top surface increases, while the speed at the lower part decreases. According to the Bernoulli’s equation, the pressure on the top surface decreases while the pressure on the low surface increases and as a result there is an upward pressure or force on the wing causing it to go up.
