1. "How far that little candle throws its beamsSo shines a good deed in a naughty world."2. Truth sits upon the lips of dying men.

Answer»

1.What if we look at ourselves as candles (or for a modern twist, light bulbs)? What if good deeds and acts of service are examples of turning up the wattage to shed more light in areas of shadow or darkness?

2.The proverb tells the truth that a person who is on deathbed spells out only truth and he would not utter a lie. As a dying person is at the last moment of life, naturally he wants to expose what is in his mind and so he tells the truth alone.

This line is from the epical poem - Sohrab and Rustom - written by Mathew Arnold. Sohrab was Rustom’s son but Rustom did not know this. The spear hurled at him by Rustom mortally wounded Sohrab. While he is on his deathbed, Sohrab says that he is Rustom’s son but Rustom does not believe this and so he expresses his doubt regarding his statement.

Sohrab says that truth sits upon the lips of the dying men and so a dying person would not utter a lie. This statement is very agreeable even now. When a dying person gives a statement regarding a case which is called as dying declaration the court accepts it as a death statement and no other evidence is needed for the case. Because at the time of the dying, the person will have little ego which might have forbidden him from telling the truth so far. The egoless person will automatically tell the truth to all concerned. This is the universal truth. So, we can believe that the statement of the dying persons will be always true.

Letter to relatives

Answer»

letter to parents:-

Delhi

15th April - 2005

Dear Father,

Received your loving letter yesterday morning. I was glad to learn that there was a marriage proposal for brother Anand from the Gupta family. As desired by you I contacted the Guptas at their residence today morning. Here are my personal impressions about the girl and her family.

She is fair complexioned, sweet natured and sober. She is a post-graduate from Punjab University, Chandigarh. She is cultured, refined and well versed in Household affairs. I think she will be an ideal match for brother Anand.

The family, too, is civilized and well behaved. It is fairly modern. Besides, I did not notice any sign of artificial politeness or ostentation in them.

On the whole, I was well impressed about the family.

Regards to dear mother.

Yours affectionately,

....your name....

(b) What are sabtle ways in which the 1lady manages to deceive Horace lDanby into thinking that she is the ilady of the house? Why doesn't he jsuspect that something is wrong

Answer»

The lady managed to deceive Horace Danby into thinking that she was the lady of the house with her subtle ways. She was dressed up pretty well, just like the lady of the house would be dressed. Also, her manner of talking calmly, the way in which she petted the dog, and her going to the fireplace to straighten the ornaments there showed her familiarity with the place. She regulated her tone and voice according to the situation. Sometimes, she talked in a kind voice. At other times, she spoke in a serious manner. She would laugh occasionally, and then, suddenly, her voice would become sharp. She spoke about how society should be protected from men like Horace. Because of all these things, Horace could not suspect that she was not the lady of the house. He was nervous himself, and was scared of getting caught. The moment he saw that she would let him go, he quickly broke open the safe for her, and promised not to rob again. According to the narrator, he was a ‘good, honest citizen’. This was why Horace could not suspect anything.

thank you for your help.

2. Do you think that we are gradually forgetting the meanings of the words like "loyalty" or "friend"nowadays? Put down some valid points to justify your answers

Answer»

yes now a days we are forgetting the real roots of loyalty and friendshipnow a days people want to do their work at priority level.Loyalty means backing your friend up no matter what other bitches say about her and supporting her/him in her/his adversity no matter how tough the situation is.

2 Stay when they're in trouble.

Usually we don't want to get into other people's business. But for friends we do everything. We're doing so not for anything in return, but just because they are our friends and we just want them to get better.

3. Share happiness

People who go through hardship with you may not be the one who share the joy of success with you. Loyal friends don't get jealousy of your success, because they are happy to see you happy.
