What were the problems faced by Howard Carter ?How did he solve them |
| Answer» Howard Carter was a British archaeologist and historian. He found Tut\'s mummy after a long span of life given to its search. But when he opened the sarcophagus, he faced a problem. The mummy was stuck to the bottom of the tomb. Egyptians kept some ritual resins below the mummy. During hundreds of years, the resins have hardened and the mummy was stuck to the bottom tightly. After using all his manpower, he concluded that the mummy would not budge a bit if they kept trying in the same manner. So he decided to use some \'unscientific methods\' to take out the mummy. He cut the bottom part\'s resins and tore the mummy away. In this way, he took the mummy out but it was not in the best condition. It was slightly tore and battered. | |

draw a character sketch of khushwant singh\'s grandmother. |
| Answer» The author has described his grandmother very beautifully. He compared her to the winter landscape in the mountains and expanse of pure white serenity breathing peace and contentment. He used this simile to describe the all whiteness associated with his grandmother. She always wore spotless white dress. Her silver hair quite matched with her white attire. She was very spiritual and religious. As a result she exuded purity and serenity like a winter landscape. There were many appreciable qualities in Khushwant Singh\'s grandmother. She was quite affectionate. She looked after the narrator at the village so caringly that he did not feel the absence of his parents when they went to the city to settle. She was a strong woman who could adapt herself to any new challenging situation. May be she derived that strength from her devotion to God. She was so divinely dedicated to praying to God that she never left her rosary. Her feeding the village dogs and then the sparrows show her love for animals. She found company in them. And sparrows reciprocated her love and care. They didn\'t chirp at all; nor did they eat a single crumb at her death. She was really a saintly woman. | |

Character sketch of Aram and murad |
|
Answer» Thanks ? Aram and mourad both belongs to a garoghlanian tribe and the hallmark of their tribe is trust and honesty. Aram is a nine year old boy and Mourad is thirteen years old. Mourad seems to be a crazy fellow which is similar to uncle khosrove of Aram. Mourad and Aram were cousins and belonged to Garoghlanian tribe which was known for its honesty. Mourad was thirteen and Aram was nine years old. Both longed to ride a horse. But their family was too poor to buy a horse. Both were adventure-loving. Both knew that their family was well known for honesty and right conduct. But Mourad could not help stealing John Byro’s horse. While he had a streak of craziness, Aram was honest and simple-hearted. Mourad was more talented and bolder than Aram. He domesticated the wild horse of John Byro. He repaired the injured wing of a robin bird; he knew how to deal with a horse, and how to soothe a dog. Comparatively, Aram was timid and obedient. Mourad could easily lie to John Byro about the horse. Aram could never do it.Uncle Khosrove was widely known to be crazy. He was short-tempered and impatient as well. He stopped others from talking by shouting at them. His stock saying was: it is no harm, pay no attention to it. ‘Mourad had got that craziness from Uncle Khosrove. |

Notes of poem the voice of rain |
| Answer» *And who art thou? said I to the soft-falling shower, Which, strange to tell, gave me an answer, as here translated: I am the Poem of Earth, said the voice of the rain Eternal I rise impalpable out of the land and the bottomless sea: Who art thou – Who are you. Eternal – never-ending. Impalpable – which cannot be described. #In the above lines, the poet asked the soft-falling shower ‘Who are you?’ to which the rain replied in a strange to state manner. The rain said that it was the Poem of the Earth and it rose continuously from the land and bottomless ocean in the form of vapours. *Upward to heaven, whence, vaguely form’d, altogether changed, and yet the same, I descend to lave the droughts, atomies, dust-layers of the globe, And all that in them without me were seeds only, latent, unborn: Whence – where. Vaguely – not clearly. Descend – come down. Lave – wash; bathe. Atomies – small particles. Latent – hidden/buried. #The rain tells the poet that it rises upwards towards the sky in the form of vapour where it changes its form (condenses into water droplets). It also says that although its form gets changed, it still remains the same. The rain comes down to wash the drought and provide water. It also washes away the dust and small particles from the earth’s surface. And the seeds inside the earth grow into a plant because of the water provided by the rain. It gives life to the seeds. *And forever, by day and night, I give back life to my own origin, And make pure and beautify it; (For song, issuing from its birth-place, after fulfilment, wandering Reck’d or unreck’d, duly with love returns.): Reck’d or unreck’d – it means whether cared for or not cared for. It doesn’t affect the rain nor the poet if someone listened to the rain or not. #The rain says that by day and night it provides life, care, enrichment, and water to the place from where it originated. The rain keeps enhancing the beauty and purity of the earth by preparing a life-cycle for itself again. (The Rain is like a song that originates from its birth-place, just like the heart of the singer, and travels to fulfill the earth’s needs and wanders. It finally comes back to the place from where it originated. Whether it is ruined or not, it returns to the original position, with a lot of love to its birth-place). HoPe It HeLpS yOu?? | |
